Pros: I’m a frequent guest at the View hotel. Enough said? Lots to do locally, very friendly staff. I love walking along the promenade and it’s only a short walk into town. On this occasion I found the Thai Brasserie in the Enterprise centre next to the station. Excellent food at lunch and in the evening - cheaper deals at lunchtime. I also went to a gig at the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill (20 mins by rail) and a ten minute walk to venue.

Pros: Lovely comfortable warm room. Owner very polite and friendly and as room was ready, we were able to check in early. Very quiet, no noise heard from inside or outside. Able to park right outside. Good value for money.
Cons: The window rattled in the wind then we saw a note explaining it was awaiting repair. A piece of folded paper soon stopped it rattling.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location, right opposite Devonshire Park Theatre and a short walk to sea front, 5-7 min walk to the town centre. Staff really friendly and welcoming.
Cons: My room (room 8) was absolutely tiny. There is just room at the foot of the bed to be able to open a medium sized suitcase. A tiny en-suite. I'm sure this must be the smallest room in the hotel. If it really is only required to sleep in and nothing else, it is absolutely fine. No desk or chair. In room 8 the WiFi was unreliable and only intermittent.

The food for breakfast was lovely and the scrambled egg to die for. Even though I managed to break a couple of toes during my stay, it did not detract from the enjoyment of my stay.

Pros: We like the comfort of the lounges where one can sit and relax in comfort.
Cons: Nothing.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean. Warm with lots of hot water. Nice seafront view
Cons: No kettle on arrival and milk cartoons were off- curdled in the cup. Strong smell of new paint - no problem for most people but l’m sensitive to certain smells Lovely room though.
7.0 Good
Pros: Perfect seaview from the room and downstairs lounge was very relaxing and comfortable. The room we had was nicely decorated with a very large comfortable bed.
Cons: The conserves provided at breakfast was of very poor quality, I don`t think the strawberry and apricot jam had even seen an apricot or strawberry let alone had any in it !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great service all round
Cons:
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The pleasant atmosphere of the hotel was very appealing and its position, right on the seafront
Cons: Wi fi was very poor, had a difficult job to connect in my room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was wonderful just right for a short break before Christmas, the weather was very kind to us,so we could walk along the miles of beach, the food was great, the staff were good, for persons over the age of 50 it is a lovely hotel, the room was fab,as was the bed.
Cons: The bathroom was very small for a large room, and the breakfast is buffet style, which alas was on the cold side, the manager of the hotel was very good, spoke to everyone,
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Gemerous size room with all required facilities
Cons: Dinner was a bit disappointing
7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast good. Location: seafront and central. Also 3 theatres, the promenade and a bandstand nearby.
Cons: Car parking can be a problem as the hotel has none to offer. Low season parking is available nearby along the frontage. high season car parking will be a nightmare.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Delightful stay. Great room, newly painted with a lovely sideways view to the sea. Out of season parking on the road is free to the west of the hotel, a bonus. Excellent bathroom. Very comfortable bed and crisp/clean linen. Great working space and plenty of floor room. Excellent stay.
Cons: Only the smell of fresh paint was a dislike but can't really complain about that.
Be our guest at this charming, family-run, pet-friendly hotel in Eastbourne. The Best Western Lansdowne Hotel enjoys an excellent location on the seafront, with Beachy Head, the South Downs and Brighton all within easy reach. Boasting sea views that stretch across the south coast, it provides the perfect haven. Its traditional, cozy atmosphere will definitely appeal, while the seaside town itself has more than enough character to make your stay a memorable one. From your peaceful seafront hotel in Eastbourne, you'll have ample opportunity to explore this pretty part of the world. East Sussex boasts hidden gems such as Herstmonceux Castle and Battle Abbey, giving the culture vultures amongst our guests the chance to see something new (or old, as the case may be). While the Best Western Lansdowne Hotel itself has plenty to keep you amused, we’re sure you'll find a spot of sea fishing from the pier or a hike in the South Downs hard to resist. Our hotel guests also have access to 18 lock-up garages. Please obtain a parking voucher from the hotel reception.
The Best Western York House Hotel enjoys a relaxed, laid-back seafront location. Just 20 yards from the sea and a few hundred yards from the pier, this is a lovely pet-friendly hotel in Eastbourne. You're also a pleasant stroll away from the town center, so you can enjoy everything this delightful resort has to offer. With the South Coast literally on your doorstep, there's lots to see and do around Eastbourne. Go fishing from the pier, take walks with your dog along Beachy Head, explore the Sussex Downs or simply stroll along the stunning four-mile promenade right outside the hotel. The ideal seafront location makes this fantastic hotel in Eastbourne perfect for both weddings and business conferences. A little further afield, history buffs might appreciate the nearby town of Hastings - scene of the famous battle nearly a thousand years ago. Or head in the opposite direction for the excitement of cosmopolitan Brighton. This fabulous seafront hotel in Eastbourne offers so much, you might have trouble fitting it all in. Or you could just not bother trying and spend your time relaxing by the indoor pool instead. At the Best Western York House Hotel, the choice is always yours. **Daily vouchers for street parking are available from reception at a reduced rate for hotel guests, although we cannot guarantee spaces. Please request your voucher upon your arrival. Limited free on street parking is also available on side streets**

Pros: The first member of staff to great us was lovely, young guy with short, light coloured hair, think he was local. Very friendly and helpful, excellent. We were given a room away from main part on third floor as the place was packed with very loud international students, so our room was quieter.
Had breakfast twice the staff cooked us vegetarian sausages to order. Plenty of food, pastries, toast, fruit, yoghurt, cooked items for English breakfast.
Lady who cleaned our room was very polite.
Parking permit was given to us for £1 a day, just put it on each evening to cover next day, worked well. You just have to find a space on the seafront as close as you can.

Cons: Unfortunately the day we arrived a pair of men's pants were under the beds which had been pushed together to make a king sized bed. I was with my daughter and we wanted a twin room. The room was incredibly hot with a very small window which barely opened. View was lovely but hard to see round netting/ close stonework. They separated beds the next night, but the pants which we left by the bin weren't taken as they must have thought they were ours (despite us both being women! I guess they couldn't make the assumption though) When I raised what had happened the day we left, the guy on the desk, who was dark haired kind of Spanish looking/sounding, argued with me that I should have reported it on the first day. I said it was kind of embarrassing. He just kept telling me that "next time something like this happens in a hotel you should report it so we can deal with the cleaners'. It was like he was telling me what to do in a hotel. We are well-travelled!
He was pretty much shouting at me as I left which made me feel horrible and put a damper on the day. What bothered me was it was extremely hot and the cleaners had a lot to do, I felt he was just going to fire someone over it.
Breakfast was cleared away at 10 very promptly, despite the fact we'd had to wait 20 minutes for our vegetarian sausages.
Lots of people who appeared to be staff seemed to wander around a lot not doing much. Often no one on the front desk and no security to the building as you didn't need a key to get to the lifts/stairs/room areas.
Trying to cross the road outside is like dicing with death! Traffic is crazy but beach is opposite only a few yards away.
Eastbourne- hmm bit dodgy not great! Pier is lovely though.

Pros: Breakfast is excellent easy to add to or subtract from.. staff friendly and cheerful.. Its a lovely old building with lots of character.. Great value for money.. easy location for everything we require when visiting.. Many thanks to the lovely staff, front desk, restaurant, housekeepers. That keep us coming back..

Cons: Nothing
4.0 Okay
Pros: Bar man was friendly and girl on front desk was lovely- cleaning lady very pleasant. The hotel itself needs refurbishment particularly the bedrooms and common rooms
Cons: Breakfast was poor, staff very mean with serving portions. Tables dirty and food served cold. Bar closed at 10:30pm with no evening meals available
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location was excellent for our visit and most of the staff were friendly.
Cons: The breakfast felt mean as the buffet was closely guarded by a member of staff. There was no extra anything and it felt like a school dinner approach. The bar was poor with a poor selection of drinks and poor opening hours. The bar seemed to close at 10.00pm.

Pros: Nice Hotel. My room was a disabled sea view room - very nice. My son and grandaughter's room was much smaller and partly looked onto a brick wall and was very hot at night even with the window open. Also the lift broke down twice and we were on the 4th floor

Pros: When we arrived there we about 5 other bookings already checked in waiting for their rooms. After waiting at reception for over 20 mins and having new arrivals being seen over us (even though we were standing waiting to be seen), we finally got checked in, but our rooms weren’t ready (understandable and has happened before), so we were told to wait in the bar. Stood at the bar for another half an hour waiting for someone to tend it. Partner chased staff at reception who did not seem to know anything. Finally got service and ordered afternoon tea. This arrived just over 2 hours later!! We had a 2.5 year old who was hungry and kept asking, to be told they were very busy. Left the hotel for the rest of the day/ evening. Came back about 9:30 to the bar and reception/ foyer littered with dirty glasses- literally every table. Could hear guests who were being moved out of the bar area to foyer (it was closing) complaining there was no where clear to sit! I went to reception to request water as we had none in the rooms and it was very hot, to be told to go to the bar. I had up explain that it had shut, the door was locked and lights off. Reception seemed baffled and took my room number to get water sent up. Called down twice to get water which never arrived, before leaving the hotel around midnight to find a shop to buy water from. I have stayed extensively around the world and would put the service at this hotel in the bottom 2% of anywhere I have stayed. I can understand being busy; but being ignored when standing there, not servicing the bar and restaurant area sufficiently, and not even proving the room service promised on more than one occasion is a disgrace. Numerous opportunities and the hotel failed on every one.

Pros: Nice hotel
Cons: The bed was terrible worst night sleep in my life!!!!!!!!
6.8 Good
Pros: Good Location and ease of parking . Good Bar and restaurant
Cons: The room was very small and very tired . The air con didn`t work and the window could not be opened and as such the room was extremley stuffy . This is bad enough in April but imagine it would be a nightmare in high summer .
Th ensuite was a wet room which was ok , however the room flooded if the shower was on full power shower mode . Also there were no vanity units or shelves for toiletries so these had to be kept in the bedroom as brought in as required .
4.0 Okay
Pros: The food was lovely and well worth the money. We ate in the bar in the evening and breakfast both were very good value for money.
Cons: Check in there was no one there had to wait. Got to the room nice new windows but the paintwork had not been repaired all flaking off. New socket put in not finished off. The carpet all stained, bed base all blood stained and marked. Hair in the non slip bath mat. I did not complain as I felt I wouldn’t have to, I don’t pay the quite expensive rate to stay in a room I did. Felt like a budget hotel. Premier inn would have been cheaper and nicer. Had stayed before and loved it, that’s why returned never again

Pros: Location
Cons: The hotel have windows but we can’t open it. There is no way to air comes inside. In both bathrooms and room. Finally it’s feel like hard to breathe.
5.4 Okay
Pros: - Great location
- Comfy beds
-Modern bathrooms with good showers
-Spare pillows and cover in room
Cons: - Switched rooms 3 times
- First 2 rooms were honestly shocking
Finger prints and black dirt marks on walls.
Floor not vacumed
Toilet not cleaned. Pubic hair on toilet seat.
Dust everywhete around the rooms.
Window sills not cleaned woth dirt and dead bugs.
If kayak would allow me to upload photos I'd show you!
- Staff on reception were just not welcoming and friendly.
- One male manager helped with my complaint but the female receptionists stood talking in the back room for a good 5 minutes with customers waiting (even if its eork related at least acknowledge customets and advise them you'll be there soon)
