Lovely large room. Sea view. Professional staff. Clean. Large comfortable bed. A
We liked it all
Booked a studio on the top floor with magnificent views to the sea. It was a very hot sunny late August Bank holiday. There was no air conditioning but we had a fan which helped cool us down! The kitchen was adequately equipped although there was no oven nor toaster but did have two electric cooking rings, microwave and kettle. We did book on a bed and breakfast basis. The kitchenette had a small fridge with small freezer and we were able to make some ice cubes for our evening drinks! We bought some cold foods for a picnic buffet on the beach and therefore the hotel's location was convenient. We spent a couple of hours on the beach, went back to our hotel to pack the picnic, then back to the beach; heaven! We had a lovely newly decorated modern bathroom with a double walk in shower and no bath which suited us perfectly. The hotel was located in the quieter end of the seafront but within working distance of the pier, restaurants and main shopping high street. We spent our two days laying on the beach and even got in some swimming in the sea which cooled us down; we could not believe how warm and lovely the sea was. There is an indoor pool at the hotel but why bother when you have the therapeutic sea on your doorstep? There was a good choice for breakfast which was replenished thoughout the morning and even pancakes with maple syrup were available to order! There were a couple of coach party groups at the hotel which went down to breakfast around 7.00am therefore by the time we went for breakfast around 8.30am, there was no mad rush; in fact we were pleasantly surprised at how empty the breakfast room was. Happy with the quality and choice of food served at breakfast.
The internal set up of the hotel is odd as there are so many narrow corridors to negotiate before you find your room. The tea used in the hotel both at breakfast and in the bedrooms was disappointing. It was hard finding a car parking space near the hotel. We parked 10 minutes walk away in the back streets of the hotel which was free of charge. The car parking spaces at the front of the hotel was always busy as we were always on the lookout for a space. Spaces did become available but only on the Bank holiday Monday afternoon - we were staying until Tuesday so we parked on the seafront and bought a discounted £1 parking ticket from the hotel to take us through to Tuesday morning.
Comfortable room, friendly staff. The swimming pool was an added bonus.
Bedrooms were fine apart from the windows which were so dirty that you couldn't see out to see the sea view !
Woken by next room at 4.00 am blasting out techno music and shouting on the phone for nearly 2 hours ! Need soundproofing or more considerate guests.
Excellent location right on the front and close to the pier and we were able to park outside the hotel for only £1. Nice restaurant for evening meals. No view from our room but we were only there for 1 night.
Pillows were a bit on the thin side.
