Cons: The pickup was a waste of my time. I pre-registered for pickup online. When I arrived to pickup the car I showed the completed document on my to the clerk. She didn’t look at it, but gave me papers to fill out. I explained that I completed the information online. The clerk said “I don’t know anything about it. You can talk to my manager if you want.”

Pros: Drop off was easy. The Jeep Compass was a nice alternative to the Toyota RAV4 we had reserved.Cons: When we arrived for our reservation at 8am they said they only had sedans and a minivan available. I was about to cancel the reservation and leave, as we needed the 4x4 capability of the RAV4 and they were pretty rude when I was annoyed they didn’t have the car I reserved, when all of a sudden, they had a comparable vehicle, a Jeep Compass. The Compass is a cute small SUV. This one however was dirty, which had it only been the exterior I wouldn’t have cared, but there was a substance spilled on the passenger seat and ground into the crevasses of the seat, and the car smelled strongly of marijuana.

Pros: The return to Atlanta was easy process.Cons: Had to go to the Hertz counter as yet again there was no agent at the Dollar counter. Waited in line for an hour with only three people in front of me as there was only one agent working. Every time a customer showed up in the Hertz Gold line they were taken care of before the customers that had been waiting. Then finally I get to the counter and hear that I had the manager special so they had a difficult time finding a mid size suv. My reservation did not say anything about a manager special, it only said mid size SUV reserved. Another twenty minutes to find a SUV. Then I finally got to the vehicle, it only had 3/4 tank of fuel. The return to Atlanta airport was smooth and awesome as always. I would like to see Dollar increase their staffing at the Norfolk International Airport. Sadly this is a common occurrence with Dollar.

Pros: This trip was cancelled due to being expose to someone who tested positive for COVID19. I am now quarantining for 10-14 days. I was told this can be cancelled but I have to take up refund with Expedia. I have been on hold for over an hour. I need a direct contact supervisor to help me with a refund. In fact I responded to her email and she has not replied back to assist me with this matter.Cons: Provide individuals who have the ability and will to assist customers, not pass on to be someone else's issue.

Pros: Yes the staff wasn’t the problem.Cons: Charged a lot for a car that smelled very strong odor of cigarette smoke. It gave me a headache the the three days I had it. Also my daughter felt ill due to the strong odor. I would have returned it but it was way after midnight. Also about 20 people in line after me. I had a two hour trip to my destination so I sucked it up. What bothers me the most I noticed when I was waiting In line that they supposedly charge 400$ for cleaning fee if someone smokes in their cars.

Pros: Cheap.Cons: First car immediately had problem. Service soon message continuously appeared, drivers assistance camera blocked messages continuously appeared, rear tire would not hold air and I had to spend money twice to have it filled up, and the inside of the car was not clean at all. Called to replace vehicle, was told there were multiple vehicles at my closest location and that I did not need to do anything else. Arrived at the location (50 minutes away) for them to tell me there were no vehicles.

Pros: Nothing at all.Cons: The entire experience. I made my reservation months in advance and heard nothing from Hertz until 4 hours before my reservation pick-up time when they called to let me know my reservation was scheduled for 6pm and they close at 5pm. When I asked what other options we had the representative said there was nothing he could do and was truly useless. I have never had a worse experience with a rental company. Luckily Avis was able to help us with a last minute reservation that we made on our own (not through Kayak).

Pros: The Uber I booked showed up on time.Cons: I will start by saying it was my fault for not noticing this was not the airport location. What was not my fault was the absolutely terrible experience that followed. What happened was trying and failing to change the drop off location. I called 3 to 4 times a day (during regular business hours) on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. During these calls I’d go through the menu and sit on hold for varying times (20 minutes to 1 hour) before giving up and hanging up. I finally managed to get ahold of someone Saturday at 12:30am after about 13 to 14 total calls and after sitting on hold for roughly 35 minutes. During this call the women in the call center was rude and not giving me any solutions or any real help. I was told the only people that could help me would be the hertz rental location. I was than told the hertz rental location I used did not have a direct line set up yet so the only way to get a hold of them would be through the call center and a transfer call. After this information I was told that they were not open on weekends. After hearing this I was more than a little frustrated and asked why I wasn’t getting an answer when I was calling during the day for the past 3 days. I was told something along the lines of they are incredibly short staffed and dealing with higher than usual call volumes due to an increased demand of rental cars. This issue turned into a focal point of my vacation because this is something I had to fix before I had to drop off the rental car for a flight that was at 7:00 am. This experience absolutely hindered my entire vacation and I was so stressed out about how we were getting back to the airport it nearly ruined my entire vacation. So my solution I came up with Saturday at about 1:15am was double booking a lyft and an Uber for 5:30am and hoping one of them showed up otherwise We would have been running to the airport. I would recommend any other rental car company at this point and I personally will not be using hertz in the future.

Pros: The pick up was easy and in reasonable time. Great staff in NorfolkCons: Luckily I called the drop off place in Annapolis if they had a key box for early returns. When I arrived at the Annapolis Hertz rental address there was no Hertz sign or logo. The Pep Boys building had a key drop box but no hint of a Hertz location. Some person opening the store assured me that inside was a Hertz desk and I could use the key box. The "new" Hertz may want to take note and put some sign up

Pros: There should be more staff on hand to assist customers. Those that were there appeared to be trying help the increasing line of people. The representative who helped me appeared to be trying to do his best under difficult circumstances.Cons: I did not get the car I booked and the one I got had not been washed. After going through the car wash I could see quite a few dings. The inside has an odor and there is/was sand or dirt on the carpet and paperwork from previous customers. It is also out of windshield wiper fluid.

Pros: The staff was ok at pick up & drop off.Cons: 1) Customer service availability should be a lot better than what it is. I needed instruction from customer service at 5:30am eastern time involving misgiven info from a reservations specialist regarding my drop off location open time so i dropped the car off at another location that just opened for the day since i couldn't wait for my location to open. Because i kept getting a recording saying customer service closed it costed me an extra $100.00 for drop the car off at another Thrifty location rather than leave it abandoned & be liable for it.

Cons: I arrived at 9am to find out that I couldn't rent car til 3pm...then I was told I had to have a $200 deposit aside from the price of the car and I didn't have enough to cover it.... Thrifty/Hertz wouldn't let my sister pay for my rental over the phone.... so I sat there stranded with my luggage all day trying to figure out how I was going to come up with the money so I can get home....it was very upsetting so I never got the rental

Pros: There was no Payless booth in airport had to figure out that Avis /Budget was sponsoring them. Pros: Nothing this place is a joke do not rent a car from anyone other than hertz or enterprise. These people will run you through the ringerCons: Everything, no counter in the airport, finally get to the offsite rental place and it’s closed..... every single other car rental place was open except these jokers. Kayaks office is closed they were no help. Payless says I need to call kayak, kayak says I need to call Payless. After the run around for 5 hours on the phone I went and rented a car from enterprise for cheaper and much better customer service. Stay away from kayak and Payless car rental.

Cons: Never prepay. Made everything so much more difficult. Would not let me alter a single thing about the reservation. Even to pick the vehicle up 10 hrs early because our flight was changed. I was also willing to pay the difference. When I could get the vehicle, they did not have the size car I rented. I needed a car that seated 6. When they offered a van that fit 12, I was willing to take it. However, they wanted me to pay the difference.

Pros: Payless was an absolute failure. After confirming the reservation hours before arriving early, we were met with a sign on the door indicating that the computers were down and we could complete the Reservation pickup at the local Avis location. At the Avis we were instructed that they were simply honoring the Payless reservation pricing and we would have to negotiate the reservation refund with Payless. Additionally we watched the same scenario unfold with others in the Avis line along side us trying to complete their Payless reservation. After the reservation debacle Payless was unreachable for a refund. Additional we were unable to reach anyone through the third party website. All this was 4 days ago and we are still trying to get a refund of hundreds of dollars for a car rental reservation we never received. It is fraudulent experiences such as this that deter consumer trust in the online reservation process. We will think twice before using such services in the future.Cons: Every aspect of this transaction could have been better from transparency of technical difficulties during the early reservation confirmation the day of ...to the current impregnable wall of communication and cooperation presented in an unjust attempt at withholding what should have been an instant and uncontested refund.

Pros: once I got to the office fast check inCons: I could not call the location. I tried several times and it always went to a national call center and they wouldn't transfer me to the desk at the location. There is no telling how long it will take to get the shuttle to and from the airport. this location apparently lost internet connection and no one emailed or called me to alert me of this problem. Also this "airport" location, It's not an airport location it's a mile away, does not accept after/before hours drop offs. so if this location happened to be open you as the customer can't leave until after 8 AM. there are 6 Am flights all the time. They don't tell you that Avis is their partner company and that you can drop off at the airport with them unless they have a problem. Also the car smelled like cigarettes and there was clothes from the previous renter still in the car, and the car windows were dirty. In addition, there was a sound that I didn't notice until I drove off that was coming from one of the wheels. I checked but nothing was there but it was a worrying the whole time i was driving the car. This tells me these cars aren't always inspected or cleaned before they send them back out. I think that it's unsafe.

Pros: Staff was great. The girl at the counter was just helping out so it took a little while but she was very friendly and it made the wait much better.Cons: Nothing. we got a much better vehicle than expected and it was a great experience. we will definitely use National next time we travel.
