Not the same Alamo as in the USPros:I reserved an X-Terra but was given a Durango, no problem since i think that's an ungrade. Otherwise the reservation and etc all went without a hitch. The desk staff was ready for us and made the paperwork part easy.Cons:Had to wait about 15 or 20 minutes at the pickup area for the SUV to be delivered, I was told it was being washed. The Durango I was given was rode hard and put up wet, it had almost 100K miles on it, there were dents and rust spots all over it...too many to count....it would have been easier to document where there was no damage. Although it had just been washed it was still dirty, there were still greasy spots on the exterior and the inside smelled rank, the rear cargo area still had some dog hair in it. The worst was that I was given the SUV with an empty tank (with the warning light on) and was told to bring it back empty....sorry. but that's BS IMHO ....but at that point I just wanted to get out of there and get moving so swallow it knowing I would be bringing it back with a partially full tank.Reviewed 21 Mar 2017

The trunk never locked and Alamo does not careCons:The trunk never locked so all of our possessions were at risk of being stolen the entire week we had the car. We notified Alamo and they made no notes or effort to address this issue. We filed a complaint when we got home Alamo sent an e-mail here is their response ~ "Thank you for your patience on this matter. I have been out of the office. I did receive a response from your rental location. The manager advised me the rental car in question was new and only had 2 rentals before you rented it. The trunk was in working order I was advised and was able to be locked at the time of pick up. This was passed town to me from management so I would be unable to contest ruling. Kind regards, Matt Alamo Customer Service" This is not right Alamos service failed 100% the trunk never worked ever GO Avis !!Reviewed 10 Apr 2016

SCL AlamoPros:Friendly, genuinely helpful, staff @ SCL Alamo desk. Great first impression of Chile; too bad the rest of the nation didn't abide. Hired two times from Alamo SCL within the 3-month Chile period. Probably the best place to hire a car in Chile. 500USD is required as a deposit. Requested a Chevy Sail and got one each time; had a good reason though. First one was in top form; the second was a bit banged-up even if both clocked-up low km's. To get the best rates and the best price: hire a car via kayak.com for a week block; then extend/shorten by phone with Alamo SCL desk.Cons:Being charged $10 for dog hair by pickup/drop off crew; being told to be grateful because normally they charge fifty for dog hair. No clear road signs for pickup/dropoff. Being automatically charged and no opting out of the Santiago auto road toll beeper -daily- for a month, when I only used it for 24hrs tops. Having to vacuum the vehicle-interior the second time around, removing every dog hair, to avoid surprise fees.Reviewed 14 Sep 2017

Pros:Staff friendly and helpful. Easy to find the car rental counter and car.Cons:The car had a lot of miles on it and had some mechanical problems. Rug pads had been oiled and we had to flip them over otherwise they were super slippery and it was difficult to drive.Reviewed 21 Dec 2019

Skip this locationPros:The guy at the rental counter was helpful and friendly.Cons:The car was a beater. It had clearly been in an accident. The passenger door popped when you opened it, and the entire car shook when you drove the speed limit on the freeway. There was a film of dust over the interior when we got it. It guzzled gas. The price we paid didn't include a surcharge for Santiago tolls, even though we spent all our time in Valparaíso. I'd never rent from this location again.Reviewed 29 Sep 2017

Reservation didn’t matterCons:Our flight got delayed by theee hours due to weather. Arrived in Santiago and the guy at Alamo said they have no cars because we were three hours late. Made no effort to attempt to resolve the issue and left us with no car despite having a reservation. Luckily Hertz had cars left.Reviewed 12 Dec 2017
