Pros:I enjoyed the car itself, it was good on gas.Cons:I have never dealt with a salesperson so aggressive. I did not want the extra insurance for $190 and he said “well I’m sure the 40 people in the past week with rock chips would feel different.” I told him I believed my insurance was good enough, especially since I pay extra for driving in the USA (I’m Canadian). He said “no, that won’t cover everything, and you know if the car goes in the shop you’ll have to pay $90 a day while it’s in there.” His whole demeanour was aggressive, and the way he spoke to me was very snappy. I left the counter not even wanting to drive the car because he freaked me out. Of course I later spoke with a friend and he told me he was probably trying to scare me into buying the extra insurance. As it is, I returned the car 4 days early because I just didn’t want to deal with it, that ruined my trip a bit but I’d prefer not having that heavy cloud hanging over me.Reviewed 25 Jan 2021

Cons:The truck we rented and the service was great, but the final cost was actually $147 more than what was quoted online when I reserved it. There is a "Loss or Damage Waiver Fee" of $147 if you waive their insurance at the counter. I purchased insurance online when I reserved the vehicle. I also never received any email conformation from Kayak or Thrifty that I had actually reserved the vehicle or at what price I reserved it, but luckily I had taken a picture of the computer screen with my phone... Kinda hokey how this all works, but we still got what we needed, it just cost a lot more. Next time I will likely just contact the car rental company directly and request a quote and reserve a vehicle directly.Reviewed 7 Jun 2020

Pros:Supposedly canceled the rental as the car they tried to give us was a compact size and my wife is handicapped and couldn't get in as it was so small. Asked for a mid-size which they didn't have. They offered a Kia Forte which is too small. The manager offered to charge approximately $100 for an upgrade to a Subaru Impreza which is the same size as the Hyundai Elantra we had booked. The manager was NOT HELPFUL and was the only person on duty for both Thrifty and Budget. We went to the next booth to HERTZ rental, explained what had happened at Thrifty and they matched the price we had booked online and provided us with a Toyota Camry XSE for the same price as the midsize car (Hyundai Elantra) that Thrifty didn't have in stock. Went back and supposedly canceled the rental through the Thrifty manager. Still not for sure if they cancelled it or not. VERY POOR SERVICE!! I am retired and do not recommend Spokane and the Thrifty manager!!! He is NOT customer service orientated and does not care about the customers!! Very disappointed in our treatment, however, THANK YOU HERTZ!!!Cons:Courtesy would be nice as well as customer service. They did not have the vehicle which was rented on line and tried to substitute with a smaller car that would not accommodate my wife, the Kia Forte. I tried to work with them on an upgrade, however at approximately $100 more for a car which should have replaced the Hyundai Elantra we had contracted for, this was not unacceptable. I will NOT USE THRIFTY in the future. I have used them in the past and never had an experience like this!! It was totally unacceptable.Reviewed 31 Oct 2020

Cons:We booked car on kayak. When we arrived, guy at counter checked us in and slid card for payment. Right before we were to be given keys (we even chose between an optima or Malibu), our order was denied due to not having additional form of payment. We provided debit card, but apparently a credit card was required, which was never brought up or mentioned. Completely ruined our trip plans and we were left outside of the building, in a state we have never been to and was stuck outside until we could get a taxi. Left a sour taste in my mouth and ruined the trip as we had no car.Reviewed 8 Oct 2016

Renring at GEG? Better have full coverage if you live locallyPros:Car with 500 miles on it. Carri waz absolutely fantastic. Excellent service and attitude. Extremely professional yet friendly. I was worked up, due to having driven from Sandpoint, just to be told i could rent a vehicle unless I had a specific type of full coverage insurance on my vehicle. Id rented from them before and dixnt have this ever come up. Anyhow, Carri diffused the whole situation, with a smile amd a positive mental attitude. If i had a position for her In my company , i would hire her in a second.Cons:That there was no mention of insurance requirements, specifically for locals, on the rental site. Would be great to send an email or make a call to clients who are located in areas where certain restrictions apply. I was glad i jad met those requirements... full coverage on my personal vehicle, that also covers the full cost of the rental car in case of an accident.Reviewed 8 Jun 2017

Crooks!Cons:Twice now Thrifty has ripped me off. I arrived 1:30 hrs early to pick up car, they said it wouldnt be ready and it was too early so of course they had one available which was higher class for more money. Becuse I didnt want to wait I accepted for 15 more dollars a day. When I went outside to pick up car there was plenty of cars in my class available. A second time my flight was delayed 2hrs. Per policy my original contract was not valid. Of course I now had to pay 15 more dlls a day for rental If I wanted. I had no choice because everyone was sold out. And I got a pick up truck. They basically punished me for a flight delay I could not control. They said I should have called...how if Im in the air? They make no effort to help you. Not to mention the harrasment with insurance they try to sell you. The manager is Lonnie Mellor and he encourages these practices to upcharge and rip people off. Be careful with Thrifty in Spokane. Go with Avis or Budget.Reviewed 6 Sep 2017

Pros:Staff accidentally gave us a sedan when we paid for an SUV. We wandered around the lot confused (long walk from the desk). Had to walk back in once we realized he had made a mistake. Ended up with the car we wanted, but it took multiple trips out to the car lot.Cons:Progressive insurance doesn’t cover loss of income for rental companies in 4 states - Washington being one of them. I have full coverage with additional coverage for glass repair, etc. Doesn’t matter. The guy told us it would be an automatic $1,000 if the windshield breaks and the car is taken out of circulation for a couple days. We were scared into buying the policy. Our $220 rental ended up costing nearly $500, and we only had 1 driver. If I had added the other driver, it would have been closer to $700. Definitely would have gone with a different rental company that allows you to add drivers for free if I had known that there would be all of these additional fees depending on your insurance company. Check before you go! Lesson learned.Reviewed 17 Nov 2019

Need better instruction for early/late drop offPros:Generally the experience was good. The man who helped me when I picked up the car was friendly and efficient.Cons:I dropped my car off before the office opened. There was a key drop box at the desk and a sign that said something like "note your mileage and gas level". But there was no place to note it - no paper or form. So I just dropped the keys in the drop box and left.Reviewed 22 May 2018

Don’t go to thriftyPros:No line. Apparently, they are going to a better company.Cons:Was told my upgrade was only $60 more total. That was a lie. Was told gas is cheaper if i let them fill it up. That was a lie. Was told extending one more day was going to be $60 for the day. That was a lie. Total for 5 days equaled about $500. Won’t be coming back to thrifty. Thanks for the lies.Reviewed 7 Jun 2018
