The Halifax Thrifty at the Westin Hotel where we picked up our rental had very poor service--we would never rent from them again. The people were rude, the car was not at all clean on the inside (gunk on the seat, children's hand smears on the windows, etc.). When we asked them to clean it, it was as though we were asking for a huge deal. They did send it back to be cleaned but much of it was the same and reported as being "stained" so it wouldn't come out. When we got to our place we took a wet cloth to it and it came off no problem. Should we have to clean our own rental car??? They also have a policy that they charge for a second driver (even though we are married), the rate that they were quoting per day was crazy and felt like a cash grab. We have never had this problem with Thrifty before, in fact when we went to another location they changed it so we could both drive with no extra fees. This was the worst car rental experience we have ever had--and we rent cars a LOT! I would suggest never using this location again--when we looked at other reviews (of course after we had trouble at that location) it was clear we weren't the only ones.Reviewed 23 Oct 2022

The car was fine but very expensive and then had to pay extra for another driver. Thrifty also wanted a $300.00 deposit (which I am expecting a refund on). When we picked up the car, I had to let them know that most of it had already been prepaid when that i something that should have been on their computer. When we dropped off the car, there was no one at the deck (it was Sunday). OK, I understand people wanted to be off on a Sunday, however, the staff should have told us when we picked the car up that no one would be there so I can only hope that there was no damage to the car while it sat in the parking lot.Reviewed 26 Jul 2022

There was an extremely long line of customers waiting to get their cars with only 2 employees working, one of whom was being monitored which slowed her down immensely. The process was made longer due to the questionable requirement of the agent to try to upgrade you to a more expensive car and then to buy extra car insurance. Maybe if you cannot staff adequately you could forgo the extra sales efforts? Or maybe the lady standing there watching could fire up a terminal and get some travelers on their way?Reviewed 4 Apr 2022
