The location, just in the middle of downtown. Walkable anywhere.
The air-conditioning can only be turned on by the staff downstairs so make sure you do it before the night shift comes (as he doesn't always know how to do it). Be aware that every Friday and Saturday there is an open air concert of samba music, which plays till midnight and you hear it in the whole area. Saturday morning breakfast was cassava and sausage, Sunday wasn't. So you get only the white bread, ham, cheese and fruits. Maybe a cake.

The staff on the recieption were absolutely lovely and very helpful. The location is the main pull of this place.
The ladies who were preparing the breakfast were not very friendly. The food then itself wasn't great at all by hostel standards. Also although we had booked a double room we were put into an empty dorm that was very stuffy and hot, although the aircon was on. The kitchen had no utensils or cups.

Right in the center of the action of the Pelourinho carnaval. Bit of a hassle to get to the Barra carnaval but worth it for the money saved. Besides, sunrise motorbike taxi rides are pretty fun. Would definitely return.
