Pros: Fabulous staff - reception, bar and service staff. ALL made the stay a pleasure and were attentive at all times. Food was delicious - had room service lunch - amazing room service menu; breakfast was fab; evening meal was superb - I had fillet steak - spot on! Location was good for central Porto (not riverside) - opposite the theatre. Great for shops (if you want that) and easy access - minutes to walk, or use the funicular railway (cheap) to get to Gaia/ the river area... and of course, the fabulous bridges and port manufacturers.

Pros: We stayed here for our honeymoon and the hotel had the room decorated beautifully when we arrived as a surprise and we had a small balcony with a wonderful view over the town. Staff was very helpful and polite all the time, specially reception and at breakfast. Breakfast was a treat and delicious. Room was quiet with spacious bathroom.

Cons: The restaurant is a no go for the evenings. We ordered a bottle of wine and they wouldn’t leave it on the table, but were absent and we’d have to wait very long to have it refilled. Food was disappointing, steak overcooked.

Cons: A bit far from the historic centre if you are a tourist - however there is a bus stop virtually outside on two lines that take you to the centre and it is only a 10 minute walk from the metro. Cab from the centre is 6-7euros.

Breakfast in the hotel was good and the hotel bar was brilliant - very knowledgeable and entertaining bar staff. Doorman - Philippe I think - was a trove of information. Pros: The staff were very helpful, particularly since we couldn't bring our car down the street due to the pedestrian traffic. The bellman helped us find a place to park and then carried all of our bags for us (we would have helped, but he said no) and got us checked in. Our room had a great view of the river, and the location was perfect. Breakfast in the morning had a large variety of foods including Portugese dishes to try.

Turns out parking needs to be reserved and it fills up quickly, so you may end up having to park a 5-10 minute walk away from the hotel. Staff wasn't particularly compassionate in telling us about inconvenience.

The location is not a problem, we took Uber and it cost 7 euro to get to the bridge.

Concerning the facilities everything is perfect : the room was big, comfortable (particularly the bed and the pillows) and very clean. We really enjoyed our stay and we recommend this hotel!

No hotel private parking, so had to park in a garage located about 10-15 minute walk with luggage walking uphill most of the way.

Cons: Never book the expensive rooms because they overlook the road and are very noisy. The theatre theme is great for a few hours but the dull brown and dark lighting is a real pain after that and the metal tables are unforgiving if you hit them:( One or two staff were excellent especially Luis from Brazil but quite a few of the others were less than helpful. Limited breakfast.

Cons: The staff at breakfast was horrible and maybe even racist. We reached 7 minutes before breakfast was about to end because pardon me I had to work some in the am before I could get to breakfast and sightseeing. The hostess was so rude!! She was like we are about to close and you have to hurry. Then she shoved us in a corner and told us another time to take all we can at once else they were closing. We had barely begun looking at things and the staff started clearing everything!! We have travelled all over the world and visit at least 4 countries a year, never have we had this experience where we are before the end of breakfast yet treated like we came 10 minutes after closing! Like they were doing us a huge favor. The front desk staff was also a hit or miss. The person at night was super helpful and gave us plenty great advice even at 12 am. In the evening totally different experience where the staff just threw their hands in the air when asked for help. Room was way too small and there was very minimal decor. Room was way toooo dark. People had mentioned that in their reviews. I wish I had paid heed. The decor was way too masculine and bachelor-pad-like for my taste. Also, there was no counter space in the bathroom for a woman to get ready, none!

Cons: The hotel used to be an old theatre and they wanted to keep the dark theme of the theatre when designing the hotel. It is a tad dark for me especially if you have eye issues like I do. One of the bell hops was rude to my husband when it was time to move the car into the garage. Be mindful that they may charge you for your used amenities if you take the shampoo after your stay. check-out experience was sloppy as they accidentally added a bar charge to our tab which they then removed and proceeded to send me an email about the charging of the amenities. they didn’t at the end realizing i believe that it was ridiculous but it did leave a sour note unfortunately since we never received an apology. All in all though, nice hotel, good breakfast and perfect location. The rest of the staff was delightful and polite.

Cons: We had to change rooms whilst there as we had 3 nights of crazy noise from the room next door (shouting and screaming youngsters who thought they were in Ibiza?) the hotel changed our room immediately. My only real gripe was the toaster at breakfast (petty I know) but it was beyond slow. Invest in a belt type one and save us guests 5 minutes of boredom. My only gripe.

Cons: There was no doorman or bell hop to help with suitcases when you arrive at the hotel. There were no lounge chairs at the pool making it impossible to relax and enjoy a swim and some sun as the chairs on the rooftop are very uncomfortable. The gym was horrible! Dirty, horrible lighting, broken machines and old dirty worn equipment, and no nice amenities for a 5* hotel. The wifi kept on disconnecting when in the room.

Cons: One evening in the hotel bar., we found one of the bar men to be a bit rude. We were looking at the cocktail menu and he approached to ask if we were ready and we politely requested more time, he huffed and sighed. We were then left waiting for our drinks over 30 minutes after already trying to order. Whist serving our drinks he threw the place mats down on the table aggressively and just gave the impression that he was annoyed .We had drank there the previous night also and had a more positive experience, but that particular night we felt like an inconvenience. There was no issue with any of the other staff.

Cons: we ordered food because our daughter was sick, but we did not get utensils with our food delivery. when we asked the front desk and restaurant for utensils they charge 1 euro per utensil, so for the four of us for spoons and forks or knives was 12 euros. this is the first time ever that we stayed in a hotel that charged to borrow utensils.

Pros: The restaurant was great for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a bar afterwards. The staff were very kind, helpful and understanding. The location is great for a straight 40 minute walk into Porto centre and it's away from any noisy atmospheres.

Pros: I liked the breakfast, however they can add americano in the coffee list. I liked the tea and coffee variation in the room. The personal were really good and kind.
Cons: The lift, it stuck in so many occasions during my stay. They didnt fully update the shampoos and so on. There was no electricity plug next to the bed for mobile and laptop. The blankets were torn. The closets were mostly decorative, they didnt really have space for t shirts

Cons: Everything besides the breakfast... Terrible experience on a really aged and worn-out hotel... After 2 nights we ended up with a terrible backpain because on the mattresses that they probably used for 20 years... My 2 year old boy didn't even had a mattress, obviously he wasn't able to sleep on that bed ... I would not recommend this hotel at all if you are planning to go to Porto ...
