Pros: We booked a room for three adults and were allocated a balconied suite with a very large double bedroom and adjoining lounge/kitchen are into which the third sofa-bed had been placed without reducing the available space to any significant degree. Hotel staff were efficient and helpful and continental breakfast was of good standard. The Reception is not manned at night but an outside key is provided for late returners. My only minor criticism was the shower which was a bit inconsistent between hot and cooler. Hotel location is excellent, being a few minutes from the major shops and the Teatro Massimo from which a crowded pedestrianised street, lined with bars, cafes and restaurants, leads down to the Old Town, Cathedral, Norman Palace and a vast outdoor food market.

Cons: Sadly the road in which the hotel is located (like much of the rest of the city) is littered and graffiti daubed. I can’t blame the hotel for this!

Cons: Female receptionist was really rude and arrogant. Asking questions about facilities left us unanswered. We had a room in a seperate building with a lot of noice outside the whole night. The bathroom smelled like sewer. The breakfast was very outdated and simple. Seriously not worth what we paid for the stay.

Pros: DO NOT STAY!! MY ROOM WAS ROBBED HERE Worst experience on my life.. AND HOTEL WAS IN ON IT!! I was at Mondello beach I received a phone call from the hotel around noon, saying I needed to come back because some stuff may have been stolen from my room because a woman was caught on the surveillance in the lobby. I arrive to the Hotel around 3:30pm. I was asked to sit in the lobby and not go to the room yet (for what reason, I don’t know…) and after 30 minutes of waiting, I told them to take me to the room. For reference, my suitcase has been completely packed and ready for my flight back to New York the next morning at 4am… I first noticed that my laptop and Gucci purse were stolen, which is terrible but I figured that would be the case. What was to come was worse.. I come to find this woman stole all go my bathing suits ($200 each), workout clothes (all Lululemon), expensive dresses, vintage gold jewelry from grandmother, Gucci Purse, Laptop, shoes, all my loungewear, Vintage scarves and bandanas, and a 3 piece Italian swim suit set I got as my 25th birthday gift in capri (800 euro.) She stole my razor and tampons too! I was hysterical. My mom immediately asked to see the video footage. We saw this woman walked into the hotel around 10:45 am.. She looked identical to me - petite, brown long hair, tan. She walked directly to the back and went up the elevator without anyone stopping her. 25 minutes after, she is seen on tape leaving the hotel wearing ALL OF MY CLOTHES, holding a tote bag I got from my cousins wedding with their names on it! It was the most disturbing. 1st - How did this woman walk out with all of the items…. She certainly was NOT holding everything she had stolen from me. Someone must have helped. 2nd - Who robs someones room at 10:45 in the morning? And stays in there for 20 minutes? She knew I had left and she knew I wasn’t coming back for awhile. 3rd - 3rd - How did the hotel know she robbed MY room when they made that phone call?

Cons: The robbery wasn't the worst part... How the hotel handled this TERRIBLY. My mother, being a lawyer, made them come with us to the police station to file a report. They said in their report I had left the door open, which was not true. The door clicks automatically and you need a keycard to access. We got the police report, went back to hotel and they filed an insurance claim. Once we got back to the states, they went pretty much radio silent. They refused to refund us for my room (FYI - I stayed in my parents room that last night… because I was so scared.) and they still had us pay!! It has now been over 4 weeks and we have received nothing back but a confirmation that they filed the claim. We have emailed them countless times, probably over 15 total, to receive one worded responses. They have done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to try and make up for this. It was very clear and obvious someone at this hotel tipped off a gypsy woman and had a part of this robbery. I am a 25 year old woman who lives and supports herself in New York City. It has been financially and emotionally draining to start over and repair the damage of what I had stolen... If you read all of this, PLEASE do not stay here!! I am trying to help.. I don't wish this on anyone!!

Cons: The breakfast, even though was rich and with a variety of choices, they did not serve fresh plates everyday but whatever was left from the last day. For example, fruits, or baked potatoes used in the omelette the next day.

Cons: We should have been informed at check-in about that there was no hot water and no heat. We overheard a guest complaining at check-in and we where sold that it was resolved and everything would be OK within a few hours. To add insult to injury I was given a room that did not resemble anything that I booked although immediately after complaining I was shown another room that was what I did book. (And it was spectacular.) But this new room was cold, very cold, we went out to diner and when we returned a couple of hours later it was still cold. They did immediately help by providing us another room that was much hotter. I understand that issues such as this happens, what I find distasteful was that the gentleman at check-in downplayed it and was deceptive about reality. We should have been informed and allowed us to have a choice.

Later another person at reception said we should have told them our payment method and they would have give us the same price rate (we were not even given the option to talk about payment when we asked on the first place)...

Cons: Very old, strange and small room. The shower was very bad, too small, you can even move. The air conditioning is control by the reception, so if you are cold or hot you need to tell them to change de temperature.

The water evacuation from the bathrooms were poorly designer or placed and made a lot of noise, that at times you were thinking someone is going to come throught the front door. The mattresses in our room were definitly old, as you could clearly feel the metal spring touching your ribs.

Cons: The key system is old-school i.e. it's a key, not a card, with a big keyring that you have to leave and collect at the reception every time you go out and in.

Walkable distance from every major site and right around the corner from a ton of great bars and restaurants which are not just tourist traps. Reception is open 24/7 and the hotel is secure. The area has been undergoing a period of rejuvenation for a long time and it’s still ongoing. It has charm to it for sure. With regard to the staff: I was given a room on the first floor (an accessible room); unfortunately the drainage was non-existent and ended up flooding my room! Not a great start. However as soon as I let Erica and Alessandro at reception know - they arranged to get it fixed (or change my room). It was fixed and it was as fine as could be expected for the rest of my stay. I will put a caveat in and say that this hotel is transformed from a VERY old building in the heart of the city centre, so it’s expected that plumbing/drainage will not be perfect. On my last night I slipped on the marble steps in the lobby (slippery sandal soles). Giuseppe behind reception heard and literally ran to help me up and came bounding back with an ice pack to put on my very swollen knee and with plenty of advice. I was so grateful. He came to the room to collect the ice pack an hour later and to check I was okay. Claudio in the breakfast area was also very welcoming and chatty and couldn’t be keener to please. Really lovely staff that made the stay great. The breakfast was sufficient but the room/lobby area is very warm in the summer compared to the weather outside. It may be worth putting in some fans to get the air circulating.

Cons: The noise and the age of the plumbing - which can’t be helped. So the building is very old - not uncommon to the hotels in the city centre. It was very hot and the air con was sufficient or useful as a fan with the windows open to get a little air circulating. The only issue was the noise. We didn’t bother complaining to the staff because there is nothing that could be done. My room overlooked the central mini courtyard common to Italian buildings and there are apartments all around to the back so the noisy neighbours did keep me up until gone past midnight. Really not a heavy price to pay though for an otherwise decent stay.

Although the breakfast had a variety of items, the guy on duty brought little bits at a time - which resulted in then the bread is done, then the cheese is done, and then he goes to get, meanwhile the meat is done and the entire process repeats itself several times. If three guests helped themselves to meat or cheese, it was finished! Toilet seat was loose and did report it on day one - when we left 4 days later it was still loose. Aircon needs a serious service - did work but extremely noisy. The staff was formal, but not going out of their way with friendliness.

Cons: Unfortunately we didn’t have a great experience here and irritatingly had to complain to reception most days about something not working, broken or not up to the 4 star standard advertised, for example, on arriving the bathroom was tired looking and very mouldy, the air conditioning did not work properly for our weeks stay, the mini fridge didn’t work and was eventually replaced, on our arrival there was no tea/coffee making facilities. At 17 Euros each person we declined breakfast so couldn’t comment on this!

Pros: The location was perfect with everything in walking distance!
Cons: The staff was not very interested and guest oriented. At check out, receptionist kept talking on the phone and did not bother to ask how our stay was. They also advised us where to park our car (Sicily rent a car) which was horrible. The man at the garage was very unkind and aggressive and we did not feel safe to leave our car there! The room interior was very old as was the entire interior of the hotel and the beds felt like they were made out of stone.

Cons: Got to the hotel with my car. I Had to park in the middle of a busy road. Tried to ring hotel several times to ask about the car park but no answer. Ran to the reception desk to find out the staff playing with his phone. Room was not proper clean and toilet was a disgrace at the check in. Brocken window glass in my room. No iron in the hotel. No do not disturb sign available. Woke up twice in a row at 8am due to the loud chat that the housekeepers were having just outside my door. One of them even walked in without knocking at 9am. Definitely not up to Ibis Style standards. Stay away from this hotel

Pros: It is a large purpose-built hotel ideally situated for sight-seeing in the polite part of Palermo near the more famours hotels, Hotel Wagner and the Grand Hotel et des Palmes, and handy for the Teatro Massimo. The rooms are comfortably sized, perfectly clean. and were made up while I was at breakfast. Staff were helpful and well-informed. They were even able to advise on Palermo's (since pedestrianiztion) byzantine bus routes.

They want me to pay for more bed but I booked for 2 adults 2 children so really that bother me. A part from that the pool is amazing the view wonderful and the breakfast was beautiful.

Cons: The room we got had a bad smell and the air conditioner was not working. One staff kindly switched us to a room beside our children however the air con was still not operating well. The hotel is meant to be 4 stars and whilst reception area and pool area have been updated, the rooms remain dated and dirty. The sheets had repairs and there was a bit of mold around the bath. Staff appeared stressed out and one in particular was not friendly.
