The staff were friendly, and the car was in good condition. However my rental was supposed to be $83.98 with the $300 deposit that was blocked on my card to be released on return of the car. The $300 is still out of my account nearly two weeks later. It has cost me $400 for renting a car for a few hours.Reviewed 22 May 2024

Despite making a reservation months in advance, I was told no car was available at the time of my reservation and was directed to wait over 3 hours for a car. The cost of the reservation online was about $500, but I was told at the counter the actual total cost would be about $900. Unacceptable business practices. I gave my business to a different rental car company for the entirety of my stay. I also watched a number of other people make the switch from Hertz to the other rental car company due to the same issues. Hertz lost plenty of business that day due to poor business practices and service.Reviewed 1 Dec 2023

Put a disclosure that in Dominican Republic there is an additional fee for their insurance. They ONLY use the insurance they provide and not the ones bought online or 3rd party. The insurance costs almost the same price of the total rental. Let’s say you paid 300 for the car rental + 120 for 3rd party insurance (total 420). Once you get there. They say they only take there insurance and they will NOT let their car out without their insurance. I asked how much. They said the total would $598 and I would have to try to cancel the 3rd party insurance. Hertz what a scam! Why can’t you disclose this before renting. I had to tell the guy to cancel the reservation and I went with another car company luckily they had a decent price for an all together package.Reviewed 19 Nov 2021
