Pros: The hotel location is very central to all the parts of Helsinki city a first time visitor might like to see. Other parts can easily be reached by tram. The deluxe king-bed room was spacious, comfortable, clean, excellent bathroom, great turn-down service every evening. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The two special requests we had were handled perfectly. Nice spa. Nice food and good service in the restaurant for evening meals.

Pros: My first visit to Helsinki was made all the better by choice of this hotel. Excellent location with central access to tourists sights, transport and shopping. Staff were approachable and helpful. Room was large and comfortable with plenty of storage. Only minor downside was limited choice for buffet and menu. A wider variety of local specialities would have been nice.

Pros: The hotel is beautiful, right downtown. You can easily walk to the old district and see the cathedrals, and there are many great restaurants nearby. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, helping us find stuff to see and arranging transportation. The room itself was very comfortable.

Pros: The staff of Hotel Kamp made the experience wonderful! They were welcoming and friendly, patiently explaining proper procedure for using the sauna, providing extra robes and towels. The sauna itself was spotless and soothing, with the staff quietly appearing every few minutes to remove soiled towels and drinking glasses, and refill the complimentary water and gloggi pitchers. Our deluxe room was also spotless and beautiful. When we returned to our room after supper, the staff had come in to turn down the beds. They also folded the clothes we had tossed on the bed, laid cloths and Kamp slippers next to the bedside where we would first step in the morning. Candy and a water bottle was on each side of the bed as well. Even the trash container in the bathroom had been recently emptied and the first sheet of toilet paper had been refolded to a point. It showed an attention to detail I have never experienced in a hotel before. In addition we dined for our Christmas Eve dinner in the Kamp Brasserie. The food was exceptional, the smoked salmon delicious, the goose leg tender and succulent! For dessert they accommodated my request to switch desserts from the prearranged Christmas menu to another selection, my favorite Snow Egg. Overall, the dining experience was relaxed, unhurried, quiet with an occasional live entertainment of Christmas carols. We had a wonderful time. Next year I intend to fly my sons and their wives to Finland to spend Christmas with me at the Hotel Kamp!

Pros: The hotel location is very central to all the parts of Helsinki city a first time visitor might like to see. Other parts can easily be reached by tram. Cons: While the breakfast was good overall, the hot food was disappointing in that it was not hot and some days not even warm. The containers the bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns, etc. were placed in were not heated, so the food got cold quite quickly. Many other hotels, even 3*, have no difficulty with this, so why can't a 5* one also manage it? Also, it is common to have sausages amongst the warm food, but there were none here. On the other hand, one could order an omelette or fried eggs within the buffet price, and these came out warm, of course.

Cons: The restaurant encloses the sidewalk in glass to expand the available seating area. We were seated next to the temporary glass wall, and a cool breeze could be felt near our feet throughout the meal. We weren't cold, but we needed to wrap our shawls around our shoulders to stay comfortable.
The doors to the saunas squeaked and could use a squirt of WD40.

Pros: We loved the history of this hotel and the original features. The building is fantastic and we like the way they educate guests about it. The food was good, although the restaurant was closed on two of the nights we stayed for private functions. It was really clean, comfortable, and we especially liked the fact that the walls were so thick we didn't hear any noise. It's a good location, walking distance to the main sights of Helsinki but not much else around.

Cons: Plastic water bottles in the rooms are not environment friendly. Also, our towels were changed every day even we left them on the hooks as instructed. There was no need to wash them everyday. We had some problems to adjust temperature in the room, during the day it was cold.

Cons: Room is very narrow for a 4× hotel, the quality of the breakfast was sufficient but not according to the good feedback I read. It got very noisy from other rooms and the floor in the early morning. For one night it was ok but to relax well during more days I would go for another one.

Cons: The pool was quite small and the women's locker room was full of people. You had to queue to get a free shower and when I was waiting my turn, someone took my bathrope from the rack. After that it was not so nice to go outside to the pool. Not to mention the way back to your hotelroom, when you had only a towel to cover you up... The gym was too small and crowded.

Cons: Breakfast on the expensive side. The staff records sensitive, not needed, information on their registration database (social security number), you have to insist to get them remove it.

Pros: i asked for a room to see the New Year fireworks and the hotel arranged this. The room and bed was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very good. The hotel shampoo is really good but there was no conditioner (on my 2nd stay there was conditioner and body lotion too in an identical grade room so I think the refillable containers in my first room broke and weren’t replaced). The location close to the main railway station was great - if you don’t want to walk up a small hill for 5 mins you can catch the tram No’s 7 & 9 which stop outside the hotel or take the metro to Kamppi shopping centre next door to the hotel. The No 7 tram goes to the port where the Megastar departs so its convenient for this too. The hotel stored my luggage for a few days until I returned. NB: this is at your own risk as the luggage room is opened to all guests who ask but there are lockers which I used for my tax-free parcels. I didn’t have any issues with security of my suitcase. I didn’t use it but the hotel has a sauna.

Cons: The hotel is large so has a lot of guests and service is rather impersonal. Check in was very slow. There was a long line and they ask you to fill in a long registration form with info you have already provided via booking.com. I stayed over the Christmas/ New Year period and the breakfast room was extremely crowded, making it difficult to get a table. NB: I stayed again after the holidays and it was much quieter. Some Scandic hotels have a self-service laundry but not this one. The laundry prices are eye wateringly expensive, e.g. 7.5 euros to wash a pair of underpants. I took my laundry to Sol around the corner and they washed and dried 1.8kg of laundry for 14 Euros for same day service. The hotel price would have been over 100 Euros.

The location is about a 20 minute walk south of City Centre train & bus station and tram #6 and #9 stop close to the hotel from City Centre. The room is functional, clean and typical for Europe. The hotel is secure, requiring key card access at all time to room hallways and elevators. The breakfast was one of the better ones in my experience. A good selection of cold and hot items. It is more than the usual continental style selection. Breakfast was included in my room rate. The room is a nice size with a nice bathroom set-up.

Cons: Room looked "tired". The carpet was worn, looked dirty and was in obvious need of replacement. The desk chair was not on wheels and was hard to move into a comfortable sitting position at the desk. Some of the staff were not very congenial. They seemed ambivalent and "bothered" when I asked some basic questions.

Cons: The beds have under lights underneath. When we turned off the main switch, the lights didn't turn off and it was hard to sleep. We complained to the night manager and he turned off the whole light circuit, so it was annoying going to the bathroom in pitch black. The night manager didn't talk to the day manager to get it fixed which was annoying and we had the same problem the second night. They offered to change rooms for us but it was 2am in the morning when we returned from our travels! All we got for our compensation was 2 free drink vouchers which we couldn't use cause we were leaving that night. Disappointment..

Cons: It may be the worst price:value hotel I've ever encountered. Expensive ($260) but feels like the assembly plant for Ikea. Television was partially blacked out, the toilet was unflushed (you know what I mean) and the whole place cheesey.

Cons: Usual hotel, nothing makes it memorable. Breakfast display as sumptuous but it’s not anything special, it’s what I expect for the price. Our room wasn’t serviced even though we did not have do not disturb displayed and staff seemed really stretched. Bar service was poor as there was only ever one person serving and many times had to go elsewhere to get stock. I wouldn’t say don’t stay here but I wouldn’t return.

And they were likewise vague about how to find a nearby ATM; one person told me, "It's a few blocks away in that direction." And the next person, "I think there is one behind the hotel." For travelers, it's kind of important to know this! The restaurant staff is just a little bizarre.

Cons: My room, an upgraded single, was dusty, the air/temperature control did not work and couldn't be fixed, the reading light (the only non accent light in the room) was broken and it wasn't the bulb and they had no replacement for it, another accent light (large tube with pin holes) had come out of the wall and was sitting in the only chair with me (no room to move chair). No one was available to look at these things until the next day; I could not be moved to another room. I really think these are problems they should have found and repaired themselves.

Pros: The location of this hotel was perfectly situated about 10-15 minutes from downtown Helsinki, this was an added bonus, especially for the price. While my room was small, it had an awesome vibe and decor to it that made me feel at ease. The concierges, who spoke great English were always there to give me tips and directions to local hot spots. The overall decor and aesthetic of the hotel was beyond my wildest expectations. This building was so beautiful that I cannot express them in words. The only thing I can say is experience it for yourself, you will not be disappointed. Oh did I mention the sauna and the breakfast buffet were INCREDIBLE.

A lot of threasholds, not sure if they were big enough to cause problems if you're in a wheelchair, but slightly annoying with rolling luggage. Also internet was out during most of my day. Not really the hotel's fault since they had an external internet provider, but I really would've needed it.

Pros: The main building (Vanha Poli) has been a favorite of mine for a long time and every time I pass through it, I love it.
Cons: The room was small and ultra modern which is a stark contrast to the jugend (art noveaux) exterior and entrance. I was never a big fan of the modern stuff and it is disappointing to mix so great old building with modernism. Also, it was extremely hard to get the room to warm up to even 22C in the middle of the summer.

Cons: The bathroom I checked in had intense feces smell, seems someone just went to #2 in the bathroom. I changed the room. Later the night, I clogged the toilet (which very rarely happen to me). The front desk staff said there is no one to fix as it was late at night. I had to either change the room again or stay in the current room and go to the bathroom in another room (the one whose bathroom had intense feces smell). The hotel was physically beautiful and the room was nicely cleaned, but this experience ruined my only one night stay in Helsinki. I felt very uncomfortable staying in this Glo Hotel. I would never stay here again and will never recommend it to anyone I know.

Cons: The bathrooms were really unclean, toilet paper all over the floor in one and limescale all over the shower head in the shower rooms. Hardly any privacy in the shower rooms, you could see into other people's shower stalls which made me really uncomfortable. The beds were so hard and pillows were lumpy.
