Pros: The breakfast selection was very varied and fresh. I just wish there were more berries available. The location is absolutely central and pefect for all sights. The staff all do their best to make you feel cheerful and nothing is too much trouble for them. They are absolutely delightful. They gave me an umbrella when it was raining even though I had one in the room closet.

Pros: The staff of Hotel Kamp made the experience wonderful! They were welcoming and friendly, patiently explaining proper procedure for using the sauna, providing extra robes and towels. The sauna itself was spotless and soothing, with the staff quietly appearing every few minutes to remove soiled towels and drinking glasses, and refill the complimentary water and gloggi pitchers. Our deluxe room was also spotless and beautiful. When we returned to our room after supper, the staff had come in to turn down the beds. They also folded the clothes we had tossed on the bed, laid cloths and Kamp slippers next to the bedside where we would first step in the morning. Candy and a water bottle was on each side of the bed as well. Even the trash container in the bathroom had been recently emptied and the first sheet of toilet paper had been refolded to a point. It showed an attention to detail I have never experienced in a hotel before. In addition we dined for our Christmas Eve dinner in the Kamp Brasserie. The food was exceptional, the smoked salmon delicious, the goose leg tender and succulent! For dessert they accommodated my request to switch desserts from the prearranged Christmas menu to another selection, my favorite Snow Egg. Overall, the dining experience was relaxed, unhurried, quiet with an occasional live entertainment of Christmas carols. We had a wonderful time. Next year I intend to fly my sons and their wives to Finland to spend Christmas with me at the Hotel Kamp!

Cons: As a five star hotel I think they should be able to communicate in both national languages: Finnish and Swedish but they refused to talk Swedish. The promised daily paper was not delivered. Waiting time for getting a breakfast table. All of these are small things but we are now talking about a five star hotel with a premium price. The expectations are thus high.

Cons: The restaurant encloses the sidewalk in glass to expand the available seating area. We were seated next to the temporary glass wall, and a cool breeze could be felt near our feet throughout the meal. We weren't cold, but we needed to wrap our shawls around our shoulders to stay comfortable.
The doors to the saunas squeaked and could use a squirt of WD40.

Pros: This was a lovely hotel experience all around. We were very impressed by Helsinki in general and plan to visit again. When we do, there is no doubt that we will stay at this hotel. But services like parking or breakfast are really too expensive. 36€ for 1 day parking. 25€ / p for breakfast. Some equipments in the room didn't work (like a woofer in the bathroom, or a kind of iPhone desk in the room). TV channels are really limited, didn't find any music channel just to put in background.

Cons: I slipped on the stairs to the toilets in the downstairs lobby. They have steel edges. I have been involved in building two houses and builders always put rough edges on steep stairs. These stairs seem to be dangerous and I have a very swollen knee.

Cons: Some complete whacko sat down next to us in a nearly empty breakfast room (one of several available rooms) and then complained that I was using my laptop, given she hadn't noticed that when she sat down. She harangued me off and on for a while but no staff intervened until she went to harangue them, THEN they moved her to the other breakfast room (duh) then still didn't apologise to me for the trouble. There were two different businessmen doing business on their mobiles loud enough it annoyed me (though I hadn't thought to complain) but she didn't harass them. Also, there was no way to turn off one light in the bathroom (UNDER the sink???) and there was a glass door to the bathroom, so we had to sleep with the power key out of the slot & so then couldn't turn on the bedside lights when we wanted them in the night.

Cons: Breakfast was not well organized and was quite hectic. Cleaning was not perfect but ok. Rooftop sauna has amazing views but the area is not well planned! The tiny changing room with lockers is not pleasant at all. Also there should be instructions for sauna for foreign tourists, not everybody is familiar with sauna and some people go to sauna without shower and wearing high heel wedges...sauna is really important part of Finnish culture and maybe for many tourists the only possibility to experience is at the hotel. It would be more pleasant for everyone if there would be guidelines and some info about sauna ( like in Japan for onsen for example).

I visited Clarion two times this month and two times I got info that they run out from good rooms and I got lowest floor with street view. Last time I believed in that but this time it happened that my colleague who was checking in just after me (he booked his room not via booking.com) got much better place at 15th floor. Well I received a coupon to make it me happier... I saw that that front desk receptionist was feeling awkward. Unfortunately I have another stay planned there but I think it will be last time. 2. Customer Service at the bar should be improved too

Cons: Breakfast was quite chaotic. There never seemed to be enough staff, and service was confusing. Some days they served you with filter coffee and juice when you sat down and other days there was no one around serving at all. There was a self service coffee machine for those who wanted cappuccino etc. but on the second day this machine broke down, there were no pancakes and the milk had run out so you couldn't have cereal which left the choice limited for some. On the plus side the staff were very helpful and friendly if you could find one but they were run off their feet. The choice of breakfast, when all was working, was very good and suited all tastes.

Cons: When they tell breakfast is until 10 it means at 10 o’clock the personnel took away all food without saying anything. Actually they take at first spoons and forks from food plates away so you can’t take anything more. Usually in hotel of that category personnel asks from customers if they want still take something before they end the service. People were really disappointed and so were we. Room was not very clean. Under chairs was a lot of dusty.

Cons: Most staff don’t know how to operate the coffee machine. There was only one lady who could.( at least during our stay). Ordered room service one night, childs meal which was reasonably priced at €6.50 but was told that I’d be charged an extra €10 if they wanted it delivered to the room!! Shocking, I’ve stayed in so many hotels but this was a first, charge for delivery to room. No one ever answered the phone at reception / housekeeping. I used my mobile to call the hotel using their local number. TV channels were limited or had to subscribe to watch anything other than the 12 channels available.

Cons: There could be a bit more changes in the breakfast menu. Then, the surroundings are great, but I'm not sure about those who arrive by car: the Ruoholahti district has quite specific restraints on the parking time, and the hotel's own garage is expensive and a bit small. Yet still this doesn't really spoil the stay at all, of course, but it's better to be prepared and to understand the specific rules of parking in the vicinity.

Cons: Room looked "tired". The carpet was worn, looked dirty and was in obvious need of replacement. The staff were very odd about giving directions. They didn't seem to know how to tell me, "The airport bus stop is ACROSS THE STREET." And they were likewise vague about how to find a nearby ATM; one person told me, "It's a few blocks away in that direction." And the next person, "I think there is one behind the hotel." For travelers, it's kind of important to know this! The restaurant staff is just a little bizarre.

Cons: Over priced for what is actually just a large budget style hotel. Room service was poor - didn’t refresh mini bar and left dirty glasses on several occasions. Breakfast average - terrible coffee and juice and there was no fruit. Disappointing.

Pros: We have stayed here many times and enjoy the location, views and comfort at the hotel. We were on a high floor as requested, and the city views, night and day were lovely to see.
Cons: The usually smooth breakfast service was extremely chaotic. On arrival the breakfast was served on the ninth floor, just as it usually is in the summer months when there are many families staying. But half way through our stay, the times changed to a shorter period, and it moved to the ground floor which is far too cramped when the hotel is full, resulting in no tables free to sit and eat the food. All items were running out and were not being replaced, so you had to stand, queue, and wait for the food to arrive from the kitchen. It was most unpleasant and disappointing. Also we stay here to enjoy the pool and sauna. The pool was open, the sign indicating the sauna was open but the sauna was not heated. When we asked, we were told that it was only morning sauna in the summer!! We stayed 8th.August for 5 nights. We presumed we were staying in the summer!

The Italian restaurant Toscanini, which is part of the hotel facilities, is very good. Breakfast is delicious and rich, full of local Finnish delights. The bed was really comfortable, the WI-FI and the shower worked perfectly, the gym is small but well-equipped. My room was spacious, had a lot of natural light and a nice view of the Helsinki roofs. Everything was spotlessly clean.

Cons: Cleaning service repeatedly forgot to refill toiletries, even after we mentioned it to the front desk staff. The room facing the inner courtyard had windows that could not be opened - venting the room was an issue.

Cons: My room, an upgraded single, was dusty, the air/temperature control did not work and couldn't be fixed, the reading light (the only non accent light in the room) was broken and it wasn't the bulb and they had no replacement for it, another accent light (large tube with pin holes) had come out of the wall and was sitting in the only chair with me (no room to move chair). No one was available to look at these things until the next day; I could not be moved to another room. I really think these are problems they should have found and repaired themselves.

Cons: Just a few suggestions. The hotel needs a sauna, just like others around the area, it would definitely be a plus. Price is high, but in Helsinki that is quite the norm. The bathroom was a little too white and lifless for a design room and the water tap on the sink was too close to the basin, which made it really hard to wash your hands. One last thing: a few more sweet options for breakfast would make it just perfect.

The old market (2 blocks away) has a nice little food court. My room, on the ground floor away from the lobby, was comfortable and very quiet. Cons: The bathroom I checked in had intense feces smell, seems someone just went to #2 in the bathroom. I changed the room. Later the night, I clogged the toilet (which very rarely happen to me). The front desk staff said there is no one to fix as it was late at night. I had to either change the room again or stay in the current room and go to the bathroom in another room (the one whose bathroom had intense feces smell). The hotel was physically beautiful and the room was nicely cleaned, but this experience ruined my only one night stay in Helsinki. I felt very uncomfortable staying in this Glo Hotel. I would never stay here again and will never recommend it to anyone I know.

Cons: The bathroom 'cubicle' in the bedroom - the shower door did not really close meaning that everything got wet easily - but it wasn't really a wet room. The sliding door to the bathroom did not really shut and even with a small push to open clanged loudly along the sliding track. There was a very circuitous route to the room from Reception involving many opening of doors using the room key and many changes of level. It was disappointing to be in a kind of annex rather than the original hotel building. Weirdly on one of the staircases/lift access points there was a fearful smell rather like burnt food and rotting vegetables - necessary to hold one's breath in that area!
