Pros: Fantastic hotel in the Katajanokka region of Helsinki. The staff were super friendly and polite, the rooms clean and the decor fabulous. Breakfast was wonderful; a brilliant and varied selection was available daily. The number 4 line tram literally stops right outside so the links to town couldn't be easier; senate square is about a 10 minute brisk walk away too.

The room was cosy, comfortable and quiet. The hotel is conveniently located close to the centre with a tram stop just outside the entrance. I enjoyed my stay very much. Cons: The rooms are renovations of former cells therefore they aren't the most spacious; as long as you are prepared for this eventuality you will have a cracking stay here! There isn't a bar per-se, rather cans available to purchase from reception.... but definitely grab a Long Drink and enjoy it in the lounge with a newspaper. Value for money is tricky because it is very expensive... but then so is Helsinki in general. All in all, you have to look really hard to pick fault with this place... it is a quirky hotel and a great base for a great city!

If it wasn't for that nice office employee of theirs that was nice enough to enable that (I happened to run into him while searching for a place to change close) it would have ended much worse..

Pros: A character hotel in the heart of Helsinki. The room was very comfortable and all the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the peaceful surroundings of the brasserie and a nightly drink in the friendly bar. All the major sights and shopping district are within easy walking distance. We have enjoyed exploring the city and our stay at this hotel.

Pros: The staff of Hotel Kamp made the experience wonderful! They were welcoming and friendly, patiently explaining proper procedure for using the sauna, providing extra robes and towels. The sauna itself was spotless and soothing, with the staff quietly appearing every few minutes to remove soiled towels and drinking glasses, and refill the complimentary water and gloggi pitchers. Our deluxe room was also spotless and beautiful. When we returned to our room after supper, the staff had come in to turn down the beds. They also folded the clothes we had tossed on the bed, laid cloths and Kamp slippers next to the bedside where we would first step in the morning. Candy and a water bottle was on each side of the bed as well. Even the trash container in the bathroom had been recently emptied and the first sheet of toilet paper had been refolded to a point. It showed an attention to detail I have never experienced in a hotel before. In addition we dined for our Christmas Eve dinner in the Kamp Brasserie. The food was exceptional, the smoked salmon delicious, the goose leg tender and succulent! For dessert they accommodated my request to switch desserts from the prearranged Christmas menu to another selection, my favorite Snow Egg. Overall, the dining experience was relaxed, unhurried, quiet with an occasional live entertainment of Christmas carols. We had a wonderful time. Next year I intend to fly my sons and their wives to Finland to spend Christmas with me at the Hotel Kamp!

Cons: The restaurant encloses the sidewalk in glass to expand the available seating area. We were seated next to the temporary glass wall, and a cool breeze could be felt near our feet throughout the meal. We weren't cold, but we needed to wrap our shawls around our shoulders to stay comfortable.
The doors to the saunas squeaked and could use a squirt of WD40.

Radisson Blu Aleksanteri Hotel is a charming historical 4 stars hotel in a great city central location representing the neorenaissance of the late 19th century and the classicism of the 1920s. There were lovely complimentary extras such as lavender mist for the pillows, eye masks, a choice of pillows depending on how you sleep and a thicker duvet if needed. The sauna was great and as not many of the other guests seemed to use it, it felt like we had a private spa weekend! The breakfast was phenomenal accommodating all different preferences. The whole hotel was comfortable. After a few rainy days in Helsinki it was a pleasure to come back to each eveninb. There was even a complimentary foot massage machine for the room.

Cons: The queues at the reception...are they really still requiring people to fill out some paper forms? Why can't this be done online and prior to arrival? Express checkout would be great if minibar expenses was possible to pay online, not having to queue to the counter, yet again.

Pros: The hotel was great. Clean, with friendly, helpful staff especially Heidi and Samu. There were lovely complimentary extras such as lavender mist for the pillows, eye masks, a choice of pillows depending on how you sleep and a thicker duvet if needed. The sauna was great and as not many of the other guests seemed to use it, it felt like we had a private spa weekend! The breakfast was phenomenal accommodating all different preferences. The whole hotel was comfortable. After a few rainy days in Helsinki it was a pleasure to come back to each eveninb. There was even a complimentary foot massage machine for the room.
Cons: The room seemed a little small for two singles and the bathroom was shower only. Other than that it was great!

Cons: Breakfast on the expensive side. The staff records sensitive, not needed, information on their registration database (social security number), you have to insist to get them remove it.
The shower produces ecological amounts of water, quite enough for a good shower, but not luxurious.

Pros: The rooms and bathrooms were big for the price, the beds comfy. The reception was friendly, no queues when we arrived and left. ¨ The lobby bar was also a good choice to get a quick night cap, although the atmosphere was a bit cold for a longer stay.
Cons: The staff at the reception want's to collect more private information that is necessary to register them in their customer register (email, social security number), and it requires firmness to get them remove those. The shower produced enough water for getting a shower, but as it was apparently meant to be ecological, the amount wasn't luxurious.

The location is about a 20 minute walk south of City Centre train & bus station and tram #6 and #9 stop close to the hotel from City Centre. The room is functional, clean and typical for Europe. The hotel is secure, requiring key card access at all time to room hallways and elevators. The breakfast was one of the better ones in my experience. A good selection of cold and hot items. It is more than the usual continental style selection. Breakfast was included in my room rate. The room is a nice size with a nice bathroom set-up.

Cons: -The bathroom is not for a 4*hotel...maybe a 3* at most. Except of the daily cleaning done in the bathroom nothing else was done there ( some of the tiles were broken, the silicone from the bathtub was not cleaned-ever...from white how it should have been it was yellow and in some parts even black ) -The breakfast was good, but there was no diversity. Some local food would be great, since at the moment there is only a international breakfast. -The bed sheets were not checked. The cleaning service only made the bad.

Cons: Room looked "tired". The carpet was worn, looked dirty and was in obvious need of replacement. The desk chair was not on wheels and was hard to move into a comfortable sitting position at the desk. Some of the staff were not very congenial. They seemed ambivalent and "bothered" when I asked some basic questions.

Cons: It may be the worst price:value hotel I've ever encountered. Expensive ($260) but feels like the assembly plant for Ikea. Television was partially blacked out, the toilet was unflushed (you know what I mean) and the whole place cheesey.

Cons: The preservation of environment policy was too extreme. My sheets were not changed although I spent 4 nights at this hotel. I got only one piece of soap and one small shampoo bottle for the entire stay. Coffee tea facilities were not added. If environment preservation is so important to the hotel, we should get some deduction for room rates from the 2nd-night stay. The gym was outside the hotel and is actually a community gym that the hotel has access to.

The staff were very odd about giving directions. They didn't seem to know how to tell me, "The airport bus stop is ACROSS THE STREET." And they were likewise vague about how to find a nearby ATM; one person told me, "It's a few blocks away in that direction." And the next person, "I think there is one behind the hotel." For travelers, it's kind of important to know this! The restaurant staff is just a little bizarre.

Cons: My room, an upgraded single, was dusty, the air/temperature control did not work and couldn't be fixed, the reading light (the only non accent light in the room) was broken and it wasn't the bulb and they had no replacement for it, another accent light (large tube with pin holes) had come out of the wall and was sitting in the only chair with me (no room to move chair). No one was available to look at these things until the next day; I could not be moved to another room. I really think these are problems they should have found and repaired themselves.

While my room was small, it had an awesome vibe and decor to it that made me feel at ease. The concierges, who spoke great English were always there to give me tips and directions to local hot spots. The overall decor and aesthetic of the hotel was beyond my wildest expectations. This building was so beautiful that I cannot express them in words. The only thing I can say is experience it for yourself, you will not be disappointed. Oh did I mention the sauna and the breakfast buffet were INCREDIBLE.

Cons: The room was small and ultra modern which is a stark contrast to the jugend (art noveaux) exterior and entrance. I was never a big fan of the modern stuff and it is disappointing to mix so great old building with modernism. Also, it was extremely hard to get the room to warm up to even 22C in the middle of the summer.

Cons: The bathroom I checked in had intense feces smell, seems someone just went to #2 in the bathroom. I changed the room. Later the night, I clogged the toilet (which very rarely happen to me). The front desk staff said there is no one to fix as it was late at night. I had to either change the room again or stay in the current room and go to the bathroom in another room (the one whose bathroom had intense feces smell). The hotel was physically beautiful and the room was nicely cleaned, but this experience ruined my only one night stay in Helsinki. I felt very uncomfortable staying in this Glo Hotel. I would never stay here again and will never recommend it to anyone I know.

Cons: We did get the room upgrade, and the room was still on the small side for two people. The shower is a little transparent, so heads up if you are traveling with family, it's strange. There was construction going on so it was noisy, but they were very nice about that. Overall great place.

My room was clean and comfortable and the bathrooms had relaxing nature sounds pumped in which was a delightful touch. The Finnish Sauna in the morning is definitely a worthy experience that I would highly recommend trying - a great way to start the day. I opted to pay extra for the breakfast in the morning and was not disappointed - especially when I saw there were some local Finnish pastries available! While not smack dab in the city center, it was only about a 10 minute walk to get to the outskirts of it and it you're not a walker, the tram system was a breeze to use with tickets being offered at the hostel, which was super convenient!

Cons: To check in earlier you have to pay extra 5 or 10 Euros (depends on time). Kitchen does not have everything you might need in terms of cookware and as itself is not so clean. There is only one bathroom for each floor and only 3 showers with see-through doors and uncomfortable hooks. You have to wave in front of sensor to turn on the water, so you basically waving each 3 mins. Toilets are also not so clean. Although this hostel is quite good, it is more place to sleep than place to relax and feel comfortable.

Cons: About the breakfast: food might be good, but on Sunday morning the place was overcrowded. The entire hotel is riddled with wallpapers informing you of which times are the busiest. This, in itself, is evidence of difficult management of the morning scene. Even if I followed the directions and showed up relatively early, the place was overcrowded and packed with people, to the point there was absolutely no seating left. There were so many people they had entirely colonised the bar area. We toured the entire lounge five times, and there was not a free table in sight. An entire section was overlooked by only one cleaning guy who took a lot of time cleaning a single table (it seems he could not help aligning the forks in the way it pleased him the most, forgetting that he could not spend 15 minutes on a single table). So I took my chance and cleaned an entire table myself after two guests left their seats. I left their plates on the bar (for lack of available room) and there they stayed for the next 20 minutes -- just to let you know how careful the staff is. About the room: 1. Room was advertised as "sea view". Our room did not have a "sea view". 2. Left one towel on the floor: left untouched by the cleaning staff. 3. The cleaning staff did not wash the room's glassware. 4. Our clothes were left in random places in the room. 5. The room was cold. 6. Not only the room was cold, but the window's fixtures let a lot of cold air through. 7. Very unwisely, whoever installed the curtains did not realise that they are not supposed to cover the heater, when the heater is placed under the window. This means you cannot use your blinds if you want a warm room: otherwise, hot air is only heating the blinds. I saw this is common also to other Scandic hotels I have been to. Maybe it is a Finnish thing. 8. The advertised minibar was, in fact, a small fridge. No items in it. Technically, not a real minibar. 9.

Cons: The restaurant was not open in the evening and therefore I had to walk and dine out in the rainy and cold weather.

Cons: The up slope to get to the hotel lobby is tough with all the snow and ice and heavy luggages. Other wise all were good
