Pros: Beautiful location, very peaceful and the house is gorgeous with a lovely garden. Lots of thoughtful touches and the owner was very helpful. Very relaxing.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful period house, 20 minutes walk outside Stoke by Nayland, in pristine quiet (except for some tawny owl calls). Our room ("Boat room") was large, 4 pillar bed, perfect shower, all exceptionally clean. Breakfast: I'm not lying, one of the best we ever had, everything made to order. Lot's of walking possibilities. Host David Kerr provides good maps.
Cons: Nothing not to like. Well, maybe some scale in the water cooker.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, quiet location. A really lovely B&B - perfect for relaxing. We only stayed one night but would have happily stayed longer. Large, clean and comfortable room. Delicious, generous breakfast. Highly recommended.
Cons: No improvements needed!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location in very beautiful countryside. Gorgeous old farmhouse with bags of character. Lovely furnishing and very welcoming hosts.
Cons: A few cobwebs behind headboard in bedroom but otherwise it was excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Beautiful, comfortable large room with gorgeous views of the gardens. Elegant decor, high quality bed and bedding - you can tell a lot of love and attention has gone into the whole house. We visited as a family of 4 and the property provided a cot and small bed. Nothing was any trouble and the hosts couldn't have been more accommodating. Excellent, quality breakfast with lots of options. We travel regularly to the area to visit family and usually book into The Crown in Stoke by Nayland. We always leave feeling a little disappointed with the standard. So we were delighted to discover this gem of a property when we found The Crown was fully booked. So glad we did as there is no comparison. We're already planning our return visit.

Pros: Everything was wonderful.

7.0 Good
Pros: The breakfast was pleasant. Little bit tired but the bathroom was lovely. Decor a bit twee for me. Bed comfy.
Cons: There was notices everywhere "don't have guests" - which I couldn't have my family over to see me that night.. warning notices, don't do this and don't do that and felt like living with your parents. I was scared to relax in case I messed up the place. NOTE: advert online said breakfast included in price and then next day had to pay extra! Not happy. Won't stay again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved everything about my stay. The location is perfect - quiet, peaceful and very private. What really blew me away though was the attention to detail throughout and the quality of the furnishings. Most accommodation has the bare minimum but not at Pheasant Suites, everything has been thought about and made available. The little touches were welcome such as a comfortable leather sofa, a full length foot stool, plenty of plugs, a luxury bathroom with a large shower and beautiful bath; a remote control fan over the comfiest of beds and those feather pillows were just the best. It was a real delight to stay here and I was sorry my stay was only overnight.
Cons: Nothing - it was perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was very peaceful but close enough to drive to the nearest towns for food, activities etc. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious!
Cons: N/A
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable ,thoughtful and cosey,
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: lovely breakfast though second course too quick after 1st - had to break off cereal etc, eat the hot lovely eggs and then return to 1st tray - rather rushed and unrelaxing experience, loved the food though! Loved the thought given to peace and privacy, thank you!
Cons: the shower levers were rather tricky to move independently so temperature varied with power of flow - not ideal trying to control the two separately! I found some fittings and furniture rather inhibiting, afraid of damaging soft furnishings and carpets! Very comfortable though.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Mostly everything
Cons: 2 seater settee
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very convenient to University of Essex. Clean spacious rooms with all practical conveniences—eg. salt and pepper, milk for tea, fresh ground coffee, toiletries, etc. Robe and slippers a nice addition too. Very private and secure location with beautiful farm views.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything was wonderful
Cons: Bit expensive
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Been here many times now, the staff are so friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble . The beds are really comfortable. The bonus is that you get taken back and forth to Milsoms and le Talbooth so no driving involved The food at Talbooth is excellent, Milsoms more casual, but again, great food.
Cons: The only small niggle is that the rooms need to be redecorated as do the common areas, starting to look a bit tired.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic.
Cons: Our room, the Brooke was extremely warm at night despite the radiators being off.
7.5 Good
Pros: I thought the breakfast and service was excellent. The breakfast room was light and bright with pleasant views of the gardens. The chauffeured transport to and from the two restaurants was very welcomed.
Cons: We thought our room which was small, with little natural light and with french doors leading out to a small, damp patio was not worth the money we paid. The room opposite, however and unoccupied was bigger and had natural light plus a nice view of the surrounding countryside.

Cons: All superb
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming staff, helpful and polite. Beautiful old building with plenty of character giving it that homely feeling. The food is nothing short of fantastic.
Cons: The lavatory has a weak flush, witch to be fair is probably due to the old plumbing. There is a low beam in our bedroom at the foot of the bed. Although the staff made us aware of this at check in I still managed to hit my head in the middle of the night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and welcoming staff. Fab breakfast. Food wonderful and enjoyed the cocktails.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A great little Inn with quaint bedrooms with old fashioned beams and small doors but the facilities are excellent the food was great and the staff were first class. A great find and will be top of my list when down in the area again.

Cons: we didnt think the food was good value, expensive evening meal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was really clean and comfortable and the facilities were brilliant. The atmosphere in the pub was great and even though we retired for an early night we was not disturbed by any noise at all. The staff were extremely friendly and the service for our breakfast was second to none. The food was fantastic as well. We loved it here and are planning on staying here again when we’re back in the area visiting family!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff are great, very friendly. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable, with great amenities. The breakfast was fab, good selection on the menu.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place with excellent food and service
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful charming and quirky old world village inn. Staff were friendly and welcoming and we had a lovely meal in the restaurant.
Cons: We enjoyed our stay very much. The low beams in our room took a bit of getting used to - not a problem for me but my husband had to duck, however it all added to the character of the room.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice breakfast
Cons: Too hot
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was lovely and bedroom was clean and amazing bathroom
Cons: No taxis in area to travel to and from wedding we were attending 5minutes away, must pre book days before but was not aware of this

Cons: Location and comfort.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The property and staff
Cons: What I was charged
8.3 Excellent
Pros: big rooms
Cons: prefer breakfast buffet instead of fixed menu breakfast
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I like that the Hotel is next to the Essex University with direct excess. The rooms are spacey, in the older Part the English Classic Sweets and in the new part of the hotel, the modern style. It is very nice opportunity to choose of, during your stay in Colchester . Also i like to idea that you can actually choose from 2 kinds of breakfast, so depending on your mood and hunger you choose again.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing- all was lovely
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Food was excellent the room was lovely. The shower was huge! Nice coffee maker in room
Cons: Only 2 pods for coffee maker would have been really nice to have a couple more
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was amazing. Very helpful staff. Wonderful smile from the blonde receptionist. Friendly cleaning staff too.
Cons: It's tough carrying a 2Okg bag up s couple of stairs. Did not appreciate the hotel didn't have this facility. I should have asked prior to booking. Reception clerk could have been a little friendlier on check in, perhaps because it was early in the morning, 3:30am. I guess after a 5 hour flight, 1.5 hour delay waiting for the taxi I would have liked some help with my 2Okg bag up the flight of stairs. But guess that's not his job!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: lovely breakfast, really nicely decorated, comfy clean rooms
Cons: room was a little small
10.0 Excellent

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location excellent. Food first-class. Very friendly staff.

Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was in a beautiful setting and the breakfast was the best we have ever had. The choice was wonderful and it was hot and plentiful. In fact in was actually too much. The staff were very friendly and did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. The bed was very comfortable and cosy.
Cons: The front bedroom was rather noisy with the front door banging and one morning at 1.30am a car pulled outside our ground floor bedroom with the lights shining in and the engine running for 10 minutes. Apart from that it was very convenient as my husband is not very good on the stairs. The bedroom was very spacious with a large en suite bathroom.
7.1 Good
Pros: The staff in the spa and restaurant were really helpful and friendly. The hot stone massage was extremely good. The women serving us our evening meal was super lovely. We had a superior double; the bed was extremely comfy and the size of the room and bathroom was great.
Cons: We didn't get a very warm welcome and often we felt we were imposing as staff would let us stand around for quite sometime before acknowledging us. There was almost no information about how the pool and spa facilities work so my husband and I didn't quite know where we were going, whether we should take our towels, etc. The pool area is very basic but that was clear to us when we booked. These things aren't the end of the world but it makes for a much more pleasant stay if staff are forthcoming and welcoming of questions. The restaurant was very accommodating to my celiac disease but the food wasn't outstanding.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was provided to make our stay relaxing and pleasant. Lovely breakfast. Very friendly staff.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.food was really lovely, both dinner and breakfast.
Cons: Towels given to us for pool were worse than floor towels, very small and one had holes in! We had a ground floor room near reception and it was very noisy, vans at midnight outside room opening and shutting doors and staff walking to and from staff room (our doors were very close) and hoover on at 8am on Sunday morning! The restaurant was a bit soulless, felt like a make shift restaurant, with a few tables set up in a conference room.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Food was lovely. Hotel was beautiful. Had afternoon tea dinner that evening and breakfast the next day.
Cons: Incorrect advertising. Photos shown for a superior double which we booked actually show the honeymoon suite which isn’t what we got. Our room was lovely but not what we booked and couldn’t upgrade as it was already booked.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the staff, all amazing, beautiful hotel, wonderful location and everyone is very accommodating. Can’t wait to return.
Cons: -
7.3 Good
Pros: The hotel location is beautiful. Old and charming with slanted floors but modern bathrooms. Staff were second to none , very polite and helpful at all times.
Cons: We brought a small child with us and the swimming pool that is located in the grounds of the hotel di dnot allow children in the pool.
5.6 Okay
Pros: Cost of room was very reasonable and food was excellent. Loved the idea of real coffee in the rooms
Cons: Central heating in room weas poor and the cups for tea/coffee had already been used but had went un noticed.Trying to get someone to serve you at the bar was not always convenient
7.7 Good
Pros: Room 1 is outstanding! Very spacious and comfortable with loads of character
Cons: Everything perfect except the stale bread-roll with the evening meal!!
7.0 Good
Pros: Warm comfortable room, excellent breakfast and a large, filling evening meal. Very convenient location for Colchester and east Essex.
Cons: The only thing we missed was a hair-dryer in our room.
7.7 Good
Pros: Large comfortable room huge bed and very clean
Cons: Tv could be upgraded units are small and ood selection of channels is also poor
7.2 Good
Pros: Peace and quiet, staff were very helpful
Cons:
6.0 Good
Pros: lovely decor - beautiful rooms and great service
Cons: the heating was a bit hit and miss - and went off at various times making it quite cold - we were in a room (8) with 3 outside walls, so it was freezing mid afternoon!
6.4 Good
Pros: The interior of the hotel was impressive and the bed extremely comfortable
Cons: Swimming pool too far away and near what appeared to be industrial units
5.6 Okay
Pros: breakfast
Cons:
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing fitness facilities. Great gym and a huge pool. Not at all busy either. The gym staff were the friendliest I have ever met, were fab. Hotel staff slightly more harried but very helpful and friendly too. The rooms were fantastic- spacious, huge bed with duvet and crisp linen. Flat screen TV with built in DVD player won my boyfriend's approval!
Cons: Breakfast on weekdays is only 7-9am. Bit irritatingly early if you are there for leisure

Pros: Staff very nice - evening meal and ambience were excellent.
Cons: Breakfast was OK but could be improved.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly, welcoming and accommodating! We had been given a room with a gorgeous walk in shower but being 8 months pregnant, my husband asked if we could be moved to a room with a bath and they upgraded us at no trouble at all! Very pleased with the experience as a whole. Would definitely recommend! Plus pancakes were amazing for breakfast!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We have stayed before. V nice. Bedroom slightly noisy. Otherwise good. . Convenient transfer to ale Talbooth where we were attending a fundraiser function.
Cons: Bedroom noise
7.1 Good
Pros: Superb breakfast cooked specially for each person. Staff really helpful. We we’ll return!
7.0 Good
Pros: I've stayed here before its conveniently by the A12 Rooms are fine I had a luxe corner room on the first floor nice view over the gardens
Cons: Checking in an over long wait at reception to check in why couldn't the manager from the bar assist he was standing by the door but made no attempt to help? Room and bathroom wasn't terribly warm it had been quite dull and overcast could have done with the heating on or available Bed side lamps over bright could have lit a football pitch why no dimmer ? Floor boards creaked badly Bed quite uncomfortable very heavy duvet and not a nice topper think the mattress had seen better days Dinner was ok service was dismal they were quiet I sat at a table which had been vacated some time earlier the waitress then came over and proceeded to spray a solution over the table and wipe so I now had a swimming pool in front of me to her credit she did come back with a cloth to "dry off" sort of the table I ordered a large bottle of sparkling water the glass was actually hot... why very poor Food passable marred by a stale poppadom to finish local strawberries generous but completely tasteless Breakfast I was the only guest at 08.50 I was told seating was on the upper section by the waitress, four tables had been laid up those with a single cover facing the wall, why would you want to face the wall ? I sat on the banquette relaid my setting on the tables dirty food stained breakfast menus awaited, the side plates didn't look clean at all (dishwasher not rinsing or washing properly) so didn't inspire confidence. Good fresh mint tea bought I asked for sour dough toast but none so settled for the poor english pappy white not nice Breakfast could be much better eggs and bacon well cooked sausages were almost cold and seemed reheated mushrooms were overcooked and brown why do chefs need to over cook mushrooms like this and fried bread ditto with some care this could be good, Tiptree preserves but no marmalade or was I just unlucky lots of staff so staffing not an issue but management and training pretty poor
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Bed was really comfy and massive. Bathroom was great with fast running water. Food and breakfast all of good quality
Cons: Nothing

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good quality hotel and top class golf courses
6.3 Good
Pros: Fabulous food and nice staff.
Cons: The room was very dated. Not enough water. The pool side littered with empty glasses. The whole hotel was very busy not really any chance of relaxing due to the noise of other guests.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Evening meal excellent. Merlot wine very good. Pleasant dining room with a great view of the fairway on the golf course. The manager in the dining room engaged well with everyone and made you feel welcome. Breakfast of a high standard with hot plates. Bedrooms very smart with good shower.
Cons: Very difficult to fault the place. Only that there were a lot of cars due to business conferences and golf tournaments. So had to park my car some way away. However I could have left luggage at reception. In the evening the hotel was a lot quieter.
7.5 Good
Pros: The beds were super comfy, great decor in the rooms. The breakfast was really nice.
Cons: They tried to charge myself and several other wedding party guests for breakfast at check in when we’d already paid as part of room rate. The drinks are horrendously expensive and we got overcharged for a round, to which they took £1 off our next round. It’s a lovely place and the rooms are lovely but a bit overpriced for what it is. I wouldn’t stay again for that price especially when you don’t wanna use the swimming pool/spa there should be a separate just hotel rate.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The bar areas was good. Car parking was easy.
Cons: I was placed into disabled room. As i had booked 6 rooms at almost £800, i wasn't given the wow factor or felt special in anyway. I changed a guest name in my room booking, this wasn't acknowledged at reception and caused issues to one of my guests. Reception was slow on check out. The breakfast was average and seen better in Premier inns, at breakfast i couldn't get a table to with my colleagues as all other tables had been reserved for a big group. Overall I didn't think this hotel represented value for money.
7.9 Good
Pros: The room was nicely decorated and very quiet. The gym was very well equipped and the staff were very friendly.
Cons: The swimming pool was a nice length but very narrow. More than 5 lane swimmers is difficult to accommodate so I had to keep waiting and swerving to get lengths in. Pick a quiet time if possible.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location 10 mins off the a12 in pleasant rural location. Good facilities, good sized well equipped rooms, friendly staff
Cons: Restaurant a bit pricy but lounge bar meals reasonably priced and good quality.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Roomy, clean, small details (quality of beds sheets etc) but above all, the marvellous staff team. Made my long business stay a real pleasure. Food good in restaurant too.
Cons: Very slow room heaters, if you forget to inform the staff and get your room 'pre warmed' you may have to sit in your overcoat for 10-15 minutes until it gets going, but hey, maybe it's an environmental thing! Breakfast bit uninventive, same every day.
6.3 Good
Pros: the staff were very helpful the room was very clean and tidy comfortable a very worthwhile stay for the price
Cons: I thought the room would include breakfast as this is a must as a feature in the current climate and for he price...on the basis of this we decided to eat away from the hotel for meals as this offered the best value for money
8.0 Excellent
Pros: A fine hotel in stunning surrounings with 2 golf courses attached. All the staff were very friendly and made you feel at home immediately.
Cons: No complaints
6.0 Good
Pros: Chef took the time to discuss my dietry needs&supplied me a lovely me. Dining rooms was good.Hotel was very busy but we were not disturbed by noise. Room outlook was over car park, not so good. Ordered papers but werre not told we had to collect from reception. Spa had products on show however when I wanted to purchase something I was told that as yet they did not have any to sell.
Cons: For me mattress was a bit 'tired' fortunately had taken a travel memory foam mattress. Would recomend both the hotel and your services and hope to arrange astay via yourselves next year
7.2 Good
Pros: Made to feel very welcome and comfortable. Wonderful setting.
Cons: Just lack of toiletaries in bathroom but I did have an economy room. And would have been nice to have rack of toast brought from the kitchen at breakfast instead of having to queue for the single slow toaster (with army of hungary golfers in front of me!)
6.4 Good
Pros: Value for money accommodation
Cons: Food - roomservice meal was expensive and not the highest quality
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, friendly staff, good food and enjoyed the pool!!!
Cons: Nothing. Shame about the weather but no one can do nothing about that !
7.2 Good
Pros: Location and hotel facilities (spa)
Cons: Restaurant closed earlier than we'd have liked (9pm), but room service was excellent and the food was very good.
5.6 Okay

Cons: Very basic room the travel inn offers more comfort for less money

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Easy in, easy out and good in-between
Cons: Car park was flooded. Tricky to find from tha A12
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Was great value for money, very spacious room, very comfortable beds, buffet breakfast was superb & well tasty very good hotel for a weekend getaway.
Cons: Hotel was on a motorway so was bit away from the city centre the only options to get into the town centre was a taxi and that was £20 each way.
7.5 Good
Pros: For what we paid the breakfast was ok. We knew what to expect as have stayed before and think it is very good value for money.
Cons: it would have been helpful to have a set of drawers in the bedroom.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: For the price we paid we were expecting a budget hotel. This was anything but!
Cons: To be picky, the car park was a bit flooded due to heavy rain. It could do with some better drainage.
7.9 Good
Pros: Room was clean and presentable.
Cons: The coffee isn't real coffee, only a form of instant. The cereals selection does not include anything with fibre content; also no muesli. There is no cheese or cold meats. The bacon, while tasty, is over-cooked and very hard. Scrambled eggs rather watery and not that good. The servery is rather cramped, especially in the cereal and cooked breakfast corner. Room had constant mechanical noise from somewhere in the building. The hotel had allocated us a double room, instead of the twin we had ordered (and which was confirmed in this survey!). They did change it when we complained, but it might not have been possible at a busy time. I had asked the hotel by email in advance for a copy of the food menu, but had no reply.
9.6 Excellent
Cons: Far away from city center. No nearby bus and the taxi cost a lot. No fridge in the room.
6.3 Good
Pros: Friendly, helpful staff.
Cons: Breakfast selections wasn't great, veg sausage were awful, as we do not eat meat so we had an option of toast or cereal or other pretty standard breakfast bits. Had 3 young kids I wanted warm milk for but had to ask staff to provide warm milk, so alot of waiting around and asking for breakfast. I was on the ground floor and it smelt like weed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room, shower, bed, restaurant and staff.
Cons: Nothing this was a chance find as we had a family funeral to attend and we feel we struck gold. Clean (very) friendly and great value. We would recommend and use again

9.6 Excellent
Pros: staff very helpful and a lovely breakfast all in all great value for money
Cons: all good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent and everyone so friendly
Cons: Nothing. Better biscuits in room (joking).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly, room was clean and dinner and breakfast were both excellent
Cons: The road outside is a little noisy
7.9 Good
Pros: The staff are lovely and really helpful. The breakfast option is excellent so do book it when you check in. There’s also a lovely beer garden to enjoy.
Cons: A bit dated but everything was clean and did the job for an overnight stay for a wedding in the area.
7.9 Good
Pros: Friendly staff, great food, overall a cracking little pub.
Cons: The road noise from the busy A120, impacted on my quality of sleep.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast
Cons: Bedroom needed thicker curtains as the pub lights lit up the room too much
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely old traditional pub. We were given a downstairs room with easy access, a walk-in shower and excellent tea-making facilities. The reception was friendly and could not have been more helpful. In fact, for our return visit our booking was changed (without our need to ask) to the same easy-access downstairs room to assist my wife who has mobility problems. Breakfast was excellent, delicious and freshly prepared. We ate in the pub one evening and were very happy with the quality and good value.
Cons: The pub is on a busy road, so some road noise is inevitable, and leaving the car park can be tricky at times of heavy traffic.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Located close to wedding venue. A good traditional pub with excellent food.
Cons: Nothing to dislike about the property. Local taxi services let down guests
7.9 Good
Pros: The room was clean/tidy, it was a little noisy from the main road outside but we could sleep on a runway so it didnt bother us at all. Staff were super helpful when we were having trouble getting a taxi and even offered to take us to our venue. Breakfast next morning was a lovely full english and plenty of cereals etc. Just one thing they only do roast dinners on a sunday for lunch and they close the bar at 18:00 on a sunday, again not a problem for us cos we were off to a wedding, so all in we were happy bunnies.
Cons: Would have liked a ploughmans lunch option on a sunday.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: A sofa in the bedroom so we didn’t have to sit on the bed to watch television! Plenty of fresh milk in the fridge for coffee.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good continental breakfast, friendly attentive hosts. Good location and easy to find. Parking on the premises.
Cons: Slightly disappointed with little grubby bits in the corners of the shower, and toothpaste residue in the glass in bathroom.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Discrete hosts and always ready to help. They made good recommendations about where to eat and what to visit. They prepared a very early breakfast and also took care if ordering taxi for the morning of departure. Cozy, comfortable and colorful room. The bathroom very clean. A quiet area, outside the crowded city, and the buses that connect with the center stop in the immediate vicinity of the locations.
Cons: We had a private bathroom, but we had to pass through a hallway to get to it. It was not a serious problem but it created some discomfort. We would like to know this detail when we made the reservation.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Kind, friendly and helpful couple. Comfortable bed. Good location.
Cons: No toilet brush in the bathroom. No glass on the breakfast table for the orange juice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The fact breakfast was left in the fridge the night before, allowed me to graze through the night as I'm an insomniac.
Cons: Nothing
7.0 Good
Pros: The owners were very friendly upon arrival- very chatty. Tea and coffee was available which was really good.
Cons: The owners were quite overbearing, on one occasion even stood outside my bathroom door after I'd stepped out the shower trying to talk to me. I was travelling alone and didn't feel quite comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfortable which is what I look for when working.

Pros: The hotel is very nice. The staff were very good and attentive.
Cons: There was a distinct lack of plug sockets near the bed sides.
6.3 Good
Pros: Good food man behide the bar was good
Cons: Had to leave as had a emergency and took me 30 mins to check out very slow at reception
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were friendly
Cons: The room had a horrible smell of fust and damp, the shower had no pressure and the shower head would not stay up while showering
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service from the staff (the night porter at breakfast especially).
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The view of the surrounding area The on site restaurant The rooms
Cons: The radiators not working properly Bathroom light made a loud noise when turned on
7.1 Good
Pros: Location was good as an en route stop over from Ebbsfleet to Harwich. I booked a Dinner b&B rate which was very reasonable. The young staff in the bar area were very friendly and helpful. The morning coffee order is great value for money at £1. per cup.
Cons: I had a small amount added to my bill. It was not for anything that I had consumed. I queried it upon checkout but the member of staff couldn't resolve it. After a while it was confirmed that the amount would not be charged - however I can see that it was not credited back. It's not a large amount - just a niggle that could have been handled better. It's enough to prevent me from booking again.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location good, bed was comfortable
Cons: The food in the restaurant was very poor for the price charged. I had the steak pie which was like a cheap frozen pie from Tesco. The mash potatoes was dry and microwaved to death. I did not have breakfast after the dinner experience.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location.
Cons: I stay at alot of hotels that i book via booking.com but never have i stayed at a hotel where there was mould on the shower head and bath tiles. There was rust on the bath panel it self. That was in my room my partner also had a room which she shared with my son and the room was tidy up by house keeping but the did not hoover the rooms. My towels wasn't replaced instead the used towels were folded up and put back on my bed. The breakfast choice is very poor as its a limited choice if a full english breakfast there is no vegan or vegetarian option. So this needs ti be looked at also the food isn't that appealing to be honest. Will not be booking this hotel again.
7.5 Good
Pros: Everything else with the hotel is perfectly fine.
Cons: Pre authorisation charge of £25. I spoke with the management and they said they will try to sort it out for my next visit.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Size of the room
Cons: Being on the M1

Pros: It was really nice place. Clean, comfy and we felt really wellcomed there. Personal was really, really sweet and helpful. Food was amazing ❤️ i recommend this place for everyone.
Cons: It was a little cold in the room but it was our fault because heater wasn't working and we didn't realize that at first. There was a little water problem in the morning and there was no warm water but it fixed fast and we moved to the main house. It was really nice for them :) It was all okay.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Quaint old building
Cons: Room was dated, several bulbs missing, mugs were not cleaned daily, room was too hot due to bathroom towel radiator being turned on permanently and couldn’t be turned down or off. Checkout wasn’t good staff on duty in morning had no idea what to do and had to ring for assistance otherwise they would have charged me twice.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: First class mattress. Good bathroom.
4.6 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: After we settled in our room the hotel checked another couple in to the same room, it was very embarrassing as they entered the room whilst I was in the bathroom!! The young gentleman on duty at reception was helpful in dealing with this situation but this incident actually ruined my stay. I also have been charged for a stay at this hotel on a date which I hadn't booked and didnt stayed ( Sept 5) . After numerous phone calls and email I am still chasing a refund! This week I was promised the reception manager Danielle would call me ...I'm still waiting! I will keep trying to get my refund as I cannot afford to lose the money this hotel has unlawfully taken for no reason.

With a stay at White Hart Hotel by Greene King Inns in Colchester, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Chelmsford City Racecourse and Marks Hall Gardens and Arboretum. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable bed
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Interesting ancient inn in great location. Very tasty diverse breakfast menu
Cons: Rooms badly need refurbishing
5.0 Okay
Pros: The White Hart has potential, well located in a pretty town/village. Guy on reception very welcoming and helpful, tried to overcome issue of only having a double room for 1 adult and 2 children by providing an air bed of his own. Good try, but an uncomfortable night for those concerned.
Cons: Lady (manager?) quite different, arrived back from a wedding reception to be told bar was closed at 10:45pm, even for guests at hotel - why?? Equally grumpy next day at breakfast, some orders missed and arrived late after reminder. Rooms looking tired and in need of urgent upgrade - torn bedhead, stained tiles in bathroom, dirty and chipped paint where bath front had been removed and badly refitted. Member of party took to tightening light switches with his Swiss army knife!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice breakfast and dinner in the pub was very good as well.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel had lots of character.
Cons: Parking spaces were in short supply. The en-suit bathroom was very small, but I guess this was reflected in the price.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old inn in a historic town. Recommend
Cons: A couple of fixtures in room need replacing but otherwise a lovely room.
5.0 Okay
Pros: All the staff were very helpful and welcoming. The service was excellent.
Cons: The room was in need of a deep clean - it felt grotty. We paid £220 for 2 nights and I think it was worth perhaps half that.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Quiet hotel, despite being busy with a family party. All very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast selection was excellent, and so was the service and cooking.
Cons: Not a gripe or a complaint, but maybe a slightly longer explanatory note would welcome to detail any additional items that could be requested at reception. Easy just ask to if possible, but would have been good to see it on welcoming letter alongside the menus etc.
7.0 Good
Pros: Very nice.
Cons: Nothing as at now.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Friendly atmosphere and hard working staff
Cons: Nothing

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very Nice location and staff were friendly. Lovely location in Mersea. Bathroom was lovely nice fittings and fixtures c/w nice soaps etc
Cons: Check in was a bit confusing not ideal having to go to the bar. This is only a minor criticism and it did not effect the rest of the stay
7.5 Good
Pros: The staff are lovely and very helpful. The food in the restaurant is good.
Cons: We found the room to be very overpriced at £195 for one night. The rooms are above a pub/restaurant, which is quite noisy in the evening and the rooms while comfortable, are not luxurious enough to warrant the price.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very welcoming. We were able to check in 3 hours early as our room was ready. Nothing was to much trouble. The location was fantastic, lovely setting with a sea view. Will definitely recommend & return in the future.
