No blame on Alamo, but a blame on Kayak and Expedia. My search on Kayak resulted in me opting for a car (insurance included) at Alamo at Brussels Airport. But instead of directing me to the Alamo website for actual booking, Kayak sent me to the Expedia website (intermediary) where I then did the booking. When I turned up at the Alamo counter in Brussels, it turned out they had a reservation without insurance on my name. And I had not received any voucher from Expedia or Kayak, so I had to put up more money to make sure I was insured. (Calling the Expedia so-called "customer center" was the usual ordeal, of course: ultra-long wait times and horribly annoying robo-menus, leading to 0% result and 100% frustration.)

Pick up and drop off were efficient but very little instruction on car and procedure of return. Also we had a nice upgrade but didn’t realize how narrow everything is in Brussels-could hardly get in and out of the parking garage as it was narrow and on an incline- couldn’t see street until we were on it.

Hertz REQUIRE a passport and flight ticket for vehicle rental. They WILL NOT rent out a vehicle without them. I was not a traveller coming into the country. I live near the airport and I needed the rental car to get to a job interview and I couldn't get it.

The car was in good shape with minor issues. Like the clutch has big wear, and tyres were unevenly inflated. Services were poor, having the car reserved by 1200pm(noon) I have received it only 50’ after that time, while I was waiting in their lobby, because the car was at car wash. Poor scheduling from them. After dropping the car, did not receive the invoice, even after 24hrs.

They wrongfully charge me for a scratch I didn’t make. I showed them a video I took of the whole car before the pickup, but no one answered the email or phone. They just sent an email saying they found a scratch, and will charge me $500 for it and went ahead and charged my credit card. Had to go through a process of dispute with the credit card company. The issue is that THERE IS NO INW TO TALK TO on Avis side. You can imagine how frustrated that is
