Pros: VERY LOVELY ROOM!!!!! we love our room and we have snapped a lot of photos for our memory in the room. The bedroom is also well equipped with everything, from the preparation of the room to the friendliness of the staffs, everything was great!
Cons: Hotel room price was very high for that location and it is far from the city centre.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was great, the room was very clean and well appointed. This was exactly the stay I was looking for - charming, stylish, clean and right in the center with walking distance to all key cultural attractions. I liked the balcony and a view from windows. Convenience of restaurants downstairs, great bakery, many coffee shops in the morning, everything is right there for a perfect start of the day. The host was very friendly and helpful. You do not need a car to get around Bordeaux.
Cons: Car parking was additional $19 per day and a bit complicated in a multi-story parking couple blocks away. The smell of a bakery directly downstairs was rather strong at times, especially early in the morning. We ended up opening windows to let the fresh air in and it worked out fine for us. The bakery was great though, so I am not complaining, but I could see how some may be bothered by it.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Eclectic decor, good location near 2 tram stops, nice amenities (water, snacks). Very quiet in spite of restaurants/bars nearby.
Cons: Located above a bakery; had a bit of burnt bread/flour smell. Did not see manager until we went looking for him upon checkout. No one to confer with re questions about the city. Communicated well via email but not in person.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Location was amazing. Walking distance to everything but also so many public transport options within 100 m. Easy to access from airport with public transport (bus 1 followed by bus 4 or 15) Clear access instructions so I could get in even when no one was working at the property. Spacious room with fridge and some snacks and refreshments provided.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I booked this place for my parents; they cannot stop raving about it. They described it as one of the best places they have stayed at (and they are well-traveled)! They loved the layout of the room as well as the breakfast, and found the staff outstanding. They mentioned being so well taken care of. They were very sad to leave, and hope to be back one day. This also means I will be definitely booking there if ever I am in Bordeaux!
Cons: Nothing! They loved absolutely everything about their stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very spacious and comfortable and we were fortunate to have French doors that opened to a private terrace. The staff were wonderful in providing excellent restaurant recommendations and reservations. We were also able to purchase tickets to the Cite du Vin directly from the hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful apartment, gorgeous garden patio, outstanding breakfast during the whole day, help and hospitality.
Cons: -
10.0 Excellent
Pros: One of the most unique hotels we’ve had the pleasure to visit. An old maison that has been totally renovated with high end amenities. Exquisite decor and art throughout. Air conditioning worked well in hot weather. Staff extremely accommodating; able to park our minivan on site. Breakfast was fresh and individually prepared. On our second visit we were upgraded to a wonderful suite. Highly recommend this establishment.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room, great bathroom and huge comfy bed. Friendly helpful staff and nice to have breakfast in room. Good location 30 minute walk from centre or 10 minute tram from right outside.
Cons: Breakfast was okay, bar wasn't great - inside main restaurant with no proper bar tenders which was a bit disappointing as hoped for nice cocktails.
6.0 Good
Pros: The bed was comfortable and the room was clean but we were not told that this is a training facility for hospitality students. With that in mind you might expect higher than average service? No, just swarms of students in front of the building and rushing down hallways to make classes, posters on walls and doors re: curriculum and advertising careers. Although the staff at reception were polite and accommodating, It was an unexpected experience.
Cons: The hotel is not in a pretty part of the town. Next time we will opt for closer to the Villiage center, within walking distance to the better restaurants, the fountains and markets.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was awful. And they asked me to pay for it as well (which i refused) on top of a very heavy nightly rate

Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful friendly staff and great location. Walking or using the tram into the city was easy and enjoyable. Good cafes around the hotel and not too far to town for numerous restaurants and life, and sightseeing.
Cons: Next door is some sort of sewerage and so you can get whiffs quite regularly when outside the hotel.
10.0 Excellent

Best Western Grand Hotel Francais - Bordeaux - Building
8
8.8 Excellent (929 reviews)
Overview Reviews
At the Best Western Grand Hotel Francais, quiet and comfortable fully-renovated 18th century mansion, you will enjoy the heart of Bordeaux, registered at the world heritage by UNESCO, its business center and cultural life. Our location is superb. We are in heart of city between Cathedral Saint André, Gambetta Square and Grand Theatre, near to walking street Porte-Dijeaux and Ste-Catherine, and tramway stop "Gambetta".
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Within walking distance to everything, great breakfast selection, very comfortable rooms, friendly staff
7.1 Good
Pros: Centre Ville locatioin was ideal for our purposes: handy to cultural attractions, restaurants, tram, etc. The ground floor facilities are attractive. Excellent breakfast buffet (but with awful folding chairs at the tables). Staff not very gracious, but helpful with train bookings, etc.
Cons: The rooms may be eco-friendly, but they are not very attractive or user-friendly (e.g. no drawers or shelves on bedside tables; clumsy barrier between bed & bathrooms. The main drawback was a late evening fire alarm that required us to hang out in the lobby for 75 minutes -- with no apology -- much less a free glass of wine -- from the staff.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Building, foods, staff
Cons: It exceeds my expectations!
7.9 Good
Pros: The doors opened on to a small balcony. Street was quiet and we'll located.
7.9 Good
Pros: Breakfast was well above average. Very tasty products and everything was fresh. The toilet and bathroom (separate) were extra small. No comfort in these two cubicles. The room was clean and good size too. There is a sitting room which is very pretty.
Cons: Only the size of the toilet and bathroom cubicles (separate).
7.5 Good
Pros: The location of the hotel is great, close to shopping, Breakfast was lovely and had many selections to pick from. The rooms were contemporary and clean and big enough.
Cons: Although the location of this property is wonderful, there is NO place to put your car to empty luggage. The streets do not allow to park any where to unload. We did so illegally! The lot for parking is 5 blocks away and if you have a bit of baggage you will have to wait in this lot for the 1 elevator to stop on your floor hoping there is no one else on the elevator so you can get in. It took forever for our entire party to go to the main level(street). They were 5 levels down. There is no valet at the property. That was also a negative! This hotel was super busy and there was 1 young girl to handle it all. Frustrating for her and us as well. The air conditioning works on a key card. Fabulous for savings electric, but not so great to cool down a sunny room. I recommend the hotel if you travel light and not during hot weather!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great Location
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Great breakfast and location.
Cons: The wifi. Need to reconnect everytime
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location is perfect.
Cons: The variety of breakfast could be better. Unfortunately, I found a couple of mosquitoes and fly in a restaurant and at the top of the breakfast cake!!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the location in the pedestrian old quarter, with its proximity to restaurants, cafés, quaint shops, etc. The staff was lovely and helpful, the room very functional, the shower superb and the bed comfortable. The makeup mirror in the bathroom was much appreciated.
Cons: The only concern was the extremely small single window which was at the floor level. While it did open a bit, it was disconcerting not to be able to look out the window to see what the weather was like. We were on the 4th floor and we think the rooms on the lower levels had normal windows. If we return to Bordeaux, we would definitely go back to this hotel, but would ask for a room on a lower floor.
7.9 Good
Pros: Staff and location
Cons: Parking was not on site.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was quiet, clean, comfortable and staff was helpful and kind
Cons: I was in a twin (single bed) room, but I knew that and for the price it was ok

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect!
Cons: Like most European hotels, the room was small, yet comfortable.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent, easy check in. Quiet room - view of a wall but would prefer that for the silence at night. Fantastic location, so close to everything and ‘foodie-street’ is adjacent to the hotel. We didn’t have breakfast but the Nespresso pods in the room were a bonus. Would recommend a city break here...
5.7 Okay
Pros: Could not be closer to the center of all activities-pedestrian shopping streets, riverfront , opera, restaurants and cafes, trams, tourist info center. room accessories. Positives focus on reception staff-very courteous, most helpful with restaurant bookings, taxis etc. if looking for clean, moderately priced hotel for basic functional needs in the core of this beautiful 18th and 19th century city, you can't go wrong.
Cons: Unfortunately lobby, reception, bar areas very outdated, dark and unappealing. Rooms extremely small for couples.Breakfast buffet very ordinary in a dreary second floor space. Not worth 14 euros unless included in room price.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: everything. good service, nice room, the nesspresso machine (yes we are esspresso lovers), the happy hour, and above all the location. 1 minute from the pedestrian street, no more than 15 minutes walk to the main tourist attractions. a lot of restaurants. coffee shops, wine shops around
Cons: nothing. maybe just some noise of the street
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Location, friendly, good breakfast, clean.

The location is easily walkable to all sights and transit. And the staff was very helpful! I would absolutely recommend it.
Cons: The room was a bit tight, but really, we didn't need much more space for our short two night stay. There was plenty of room for us to move around with our luggage, a closet, a desk, and the bed. And the cleanliness and details made up for it!!! I would stay again.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel in a great location. Staff friendly and helpful.
7.9 Good
Pros: Beautiful French Provincial style property with lovely decor located right in the heart of Bordeaux. We loved that the hotel was within walking distance to restaurants and shops. The tram for the B Line was right outside the hotel as well which was a bonus. The staff were very helpful and friendly and kindly assisted us with dinner reservations before we had arrived which we appreciated. They also offered suggestions of places to go to whilst we were there. Our room was very spacious and we liked having a separate shower in the bathroom and a separate toilet. We also liked the courtyard garden which was a nice area to sit and relax with a glass of wine.
Cons: We really loved the hotel and would have scored higher had the bed and pillows been more comfortable. The mattress was too firm for our liking which made it difficult to get a good night's sleep. It was also quite hot whilst we were there and we were unable to leave the air conditioning on at night time without having to leave the curtains open as the air conditioner is on the floor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a perfect stay. The hotel is beautifully decorated with original features. Beds really comfortable. Loads of space in the family room. Would highly recommend.

Cons: Limited front desk coverage. No telephone in the rooms, so you had to go downstairs if there was a problem & sometimes there would be no one there.
6.3 Good
Pros: Well located. Good breakfast. Friendly staff.
Cons: Really disappointed in this property. Our two bedroom suite was uncomfortable and stuffy. One air conditioning unit in a corridor between the bedrooms leaked furiously and did little to provide ventilation.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We liked the location and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They took the initiative to acquaint us with the parking garage and the hotel had a significant discount. The breakfast was delicious, The location was great. The price of the hotel was high for what it was relative to others that we stayed at.
Cons: The breakfast room was small and as a result with a big party at the next table, we felt a little overwhelmed with their conversation.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The double room was amazing. I was a single traveler but it was so worth it. Clean, cozy, modern, nice rain shower in bathroom and lots of hangers for clothes. Breakfast was awesome and a great way to start the day in a new city. I loved my room with a view towards the street.
Cons: Breakfast could use some vegetables like cucumber and tomatoes. My second room was disappointing. It smelled I like smoke and had the tiniest bathroom. That room I booked with the hotel and not booking.com. It makes you feel a little discriminated when you as a single person gets a horrible room.
7.9 Good
Pros: Property felt good. Warm welcome. A good one night stay!
Cons: A bit tight on room but aren’t they all in the cities unless you want to spend s fortune?
5.4 Okay
Pros: The location, the breakfast room and the small garden/ court
Cons: No lift and I was on 3 floor. Had to ring doorbell to enter. It took 4 ringing for staff to open and they didn’t even apologise, they told me it was my fault. Very threatening message in the room that you are not allowed to eat or drink in your room or you will be charged 30€. Request that you remove your shoes. I didn’t feel exactly welcome !
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was a loverly well located place to stay. The facilities were excellent.
Cons: A lift would have made this a 10/10
4.2 Okay
Pros: Break fast excellent. Great location.
Cons: No BBC or English language TV. Most of the guests would have English as second or primary language. Problem compounded by poor lighting and consequent Inability to read at night. As octogenarian coped with stairs to third floor. But not ideal.

7.5 Good
Pros: Ideal location in the amazing centre of Bordeaux Amazing quite air conditioning which never happens
Cons: Nice large bathroom if for wheelchair luckily not needed for us
7.9 Good
Pros: The location was excellent for the city centre and all the attractions
7.0 Good
Pros: Typical hotel in a very good location. Hard to find the hotel. There are 2 buildings on different streets. No parking. The front disk staff was very helpfull. Maria is outstanding. Thank you Maria for your assistance
Cons: House cleaning lady walked into the room without knocking. Not only once but twice. Very disturbing
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location Location! Perfect central, heart of the old city, but very quiet (double double-glaze windows.Toilet/bathroom very modern and clean, well-lit. 24-hour reception, staff spoke good English and were very helpful. The décor was bright and attractive.
Cons: The room refreshment allowance was just one coffee pod a day per person, which for a 4-star £200 a night hotel seems a bit mean. Most places we have stayed give 2 or even 3. Or last day, one of the two pods failed, delivering just a cup of hot water. I gave the one cup of coffee to my wife. A small thing, but small things matter. The only English-speaking cable TV choices were the usual ghastly fake-news media channels: BBC, CNN, MSNBC. Ugh.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff
Cons: Rien
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was in a central location within walking distance of all the city attractions. The room was spotless clean and very well arranged for a standard room. It was larger than expected given other reviews ! The bed was super comfortable, the bathroom was large and very well decorated. The staff were very friendly and a credit to the hotel. Always welcoming With local information when we asked. Continental breakfast was very good at average 4* rates, the breakfast room was cosy, however myself and my husband had the room to ourselves which was very pleasant. As per other reviews, the lift was small but does accommodate 4 people, it does stop on level one each time but again there was never anyone else in the lift except myself and my husband, it was not a problem for us ! The hotel was excellent, in a perfect location, would recommend this hotel to other travellers and will definitely return on our next visit to Bordeaux.
Cons: Nothing - we had a wonderful stay
7.7 Good
Cons: The full breakfast for 17E was a glamorous continental breakfast, no hot food. We couldn’t get or buy just a croissant, but pastries and croissants were offered later for free. No ice available. No bar or lounge, just the small room they call a lounge/bar which is used for breakfast. Rooms are very small. We got the larger comfort room and it was small. No where to store clothes. We lived out of our suitcase for 3 days. No upgrade offered because we didn’t book through their website
7.0 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: The drama caused by being over charged on checking out . The young receptionist keyed in too many 0’s and scanned our travel money card cleaning out an extra E1,800 . They were unable to refund the error until the Manager was due in at mid day which was too late for our train booked to Paris . The money did not appear in our account until we were back in Australia a week later which impacted on our ability to use our debit card in Psris over the next four days — very inconvenient

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location was very accessible to all the relevant sites within Bordeaux and near the tram stops. There is a large grocery store and small mall across the road - very convenient for long stays. Laundry facilities (for pay) on site meant no searching for nearby "laveries" or walking with laundry baskets.
Cons: Not much - would definitely stay there again.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We were upgraded to larger apartment that had spare single bed also - therefore quite large oversized for two people with long (but narrow semi private balcony overlooking busy street and bus stop). 500 metre walk to cathedral St-Andre and climb the belfry (Tour Pey-Berland -230 narrow stairs) for spectacular panorama of Bordeaux city!! Also metered day parking (free overnite) in residential streets within 500 metres of property but allow extra time for one way/busy street navigation to locate available parking.
Cons: Lacked old-town charm but was modern, convenient and comfortable.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location huge room and bedroom facities
Cons: Breakfast could have been bigger with more hot food but it was adequate
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A lovely place to stay! Staff lovely. Clean beautiful room. Close to the old town . Really enjoyed. Pity that the Paris Apartments that we stayed under the same name are not up to standard like Bordeaux.
Cons: Nothing But to be picky The toilet was along way from the bathroom.

Cons: Nothing not to like.

Cons: 30 minute walk to the centre
5.0 Okay
Pros: Handy for St Jean station and quiet rooms at the rear of building

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Clean and what you’d expect. Location is great and breakfast also good.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff, cleanliness and facilities. Close to railroad station. Close to tram.
Cons: Not most atmospheric hotel. Not in best area to understand and appreciate beauty of Bordeaux.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hard to expand on the previous reviews. Close to the gare, yet quiet. Close to the tram to go to the center of town, yet far enough away from the center of town so as to be quiet. First class amenities and staff. Would definitely stay here again. Interestingly, the lobby around the breakfast area has encased some of the original stonework of the several hundred year old building that was originally on the site.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is close to the train station so also has local train, tram and bus stops too. This means the older city and surrounds are very convenient to get to. A great location. This hotel and the staff just go that bit further to make your stay pleasurable. A shoe cleaning machine, a board with the days weather forecast, an offer of coffee if needed, newspapers including the english language NY Times. We were given early access to our room which we much appreciated. Staff also sell you the one day, two or three day passes for the trams. There are numerous eating options close by. Some open 24 hours.
6.0 Good
Pros: Reception staff brilliant. All spoke excellent English and do al that they could to be helpful. We prearranged a bay in the hotel's private, secure car park which worked very well. The room was quite small and, oddly, the sink and the shower were notseparated fromm the room. The toilet was sepparated by a door but there was no sink in the toilet so a potentially unhygeneic situation prevails. The bed was comfortable and the furniture modern and pleasant. The hotel waived my parking fee because of the issues I raised below
Cons: The duvet cover had a hole in the uderside. The cabling for the min-bar was dangling over the desk and thoughout the night the mini bar flashed on and off.. The platten holding the sockets above the desk came away from the wall when I unplugged my computer. One of the curtains was not 'hooked' up to its curtain rail properly so dangling down. Breakfast was not due to end until 1030 but when arrived fro breakfast at 0800 95% 0f the tables were empty but littered with uncleared breakfast residue and the bacon, scrambled egg and mushrooms were cold.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful and cheerful staff. Minor issues dealt with promptly
Cons: Very compact room

Pros: The breakfast was brilliant with plenty to eat. The outdoor sitting area was good just the right place to have a quiet beer after a day of walking the city.Room was comfortable aand clean, bathroom was clean. The Staff were exceptional and i liked the little bonanza ofthe jar of lollies on the counter. The train station was about 5 minutes away.
Cons: Nothing was amiss that i could see.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The Hôtel is clean and close to the railway station. The staff is very nice and helpful. The room was big enough for a one or two-night stay, clean and well presented. The bathroom was also clean and sufficiently equiped with towels and soap.
Cons: Our room on the street-side was a little noisy with people up and down the footpath all night long. The parking is quite costly for what it is, but at least our car was safer there than in the street I guess...

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect—close to the main St. Jean train station and trams to explore Bordeaux—a beautiful historic city with fine museums! My small studio room was ingeniously designed to pack in everything I possibly needed—yet still feel spacious. Also **loved** the ever helpful staff—very kind since I was a solo traveler with way limited French. The breakfast was delicious—offered a wide range of choices, including organic, vegetarian options.
