Pros: Great staff. Excellent in everything. Espectacular.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Best bread in japan. Service beyond great.
Cons: Nothing.
6.7 Good
Pros: Spacious and luxurious bathroom. Independent and quiet accommodation.
Cons: Full French dinner course was less than I expected..
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole experience of staying at Sankara was amazing, from the warm welcome to their kind goodbye. We did not want to leave! The facilities, food, and especially the staff exceeded our expectations at every step. We celebrated our 10 year anniversary and they made us feel very special the whole time. The staff was incredibly helpful with hiking advice and we had the best meal we have ever had upstairs for the upgraded dinner. Our stay here was definitely a highlight of our trip to Japan!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place, amazing location, but most importantly amazing staff. It is expensive, but you could not ask for more.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything else: the staff was incredibly thoughtful and focused in making this experience unforgettable. The rooms were perfect and the breakfast was very good and riched. We fully recommend this hotel.
Cons: The hotel was a bit far from the main activities on the highlands. There are no restaurants at walking distance. Therefore you need to rent a car either by your own or directly to the hotel (which can quickly become expensive). Also the options for reasonably-priced food are very limited in the hotel, so you can feel sometimes a bit pressured to overpay your meals.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent food esp the tasting menu. Beautiful location and hotel. Excellent service and staff
Cons: Rooms could use a little touch up. A bit dated
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing hotel, peaceful and luxurious
Cons: Nothing

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property owner, Yuki was so wonderful and helpful. She helped me purchase my ferry tickets, organized a rental car to pick me up from the port, and gave amazing suggestions about things to do on the island (there's so much to see). The food offered here was also amazing (my friend and I ate breakfast here and also got the homemade bentos for our afternoon hikes), and the room was so cute and comfortable. It was like staying at a cozy family cottage. Will definitely come back if I get another chance to go to Yakushima.
Cons: I liked everything!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host was very kind and food was delicious. We felt like family

Pros: Yuki was very nice and helpful, she was informative and gave you appropriate advice on your trip, the pension was very comfortable and stylish, and the food was delicious
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Yuki was absolutely an amazing host! The rooms were clean and bathroom was fresh. Nice breakfast and launch (fair price). Above all the wonderful host- so caring and kind. She made it extra special
Cons: .
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Cute bed and breakfast- only a few rooms so no problem sharing bathroom. Owner so nice and helpful!! Open air ‘wild’ onsen very close. Walking distance from izakayas for nighttime eating so the driver could also have a beer! Food at the hotel was also really delicious!!
Cons: Nothing much. That I couldn’t sit upright in the bottom bunk bed..
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a fantastic host Yuki is - she went above and beyond before we even arrived to book our car and arrange dinner for the first night. When we arrived, she helped us to plan our time in Yakushima and has an incredible knowledge of the area and what was achievable to see given the amount of time we were there. The room and bathrooms were comfortable and clean, and the area is just stunning. We would love to return here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is super clean and comfortable. Yuki is the best host that anyone can ask for, she is so kind and caring, helped us a lot! I highly recommend!
Cons: Everything was perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had an awesome time, especially Yuki is a great host, she cares a lot and is lovely. We have taken all evening the sashimi plate, by far the best choice we made.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We can not praise the accommodation highly enough: 100% clean rooms and bathrooms, great recommendations by Yuki about destinations on Yakushima and delicious food for breakfast, lunch and afternoon. If you plan a lot activities during the day get the japanese lunch wraped in Bamboo leaf. Really awesome destination to stay at!
Cons: There was nothing to dislike!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Yuki was helpful to the point of being beyond reproach. She arranged our ferry to the island, made a reservation for a rental car, helped us pick it hikes to do during the day, just overall a lovely person. She made us tasty breakfast sandwiches every morning, and we chose to have dinner there a couple of the nights we stayed. Those meals ended up being the best we had on the island. Not only is she a great cook, the owner goes and catches the fish fresh every morning. She also went out of her way and made me special meals because I'm gluten intolerant. She took the time to find gluten free alternative ingredients for the meals she knew she'd be making me. It was one of the most thoughtful and pleasant stays I've ever had in any country. I would recommend the pension to anyone and we're hoping that we can visit again someday.
Cons: I really don't have any negative feedback.

9.7 Excellent
Pros: The owners could not have been friendlier or more welcoming for our one night stay. Though there was a bit of a language barrier (they don't speak much English) they got us situated right away, drove us to the bus office to buy a bus pass, and recommended an excellent sashimi restaurant within walking distance. Our room had an excellent view over the Ambk river and my mom and I slept like logs to the sound of lapping water. Divine! It was nice being right in town and would definitely go back if we return to Yakushima. Also I highly recommend springing for the Japanese style breakfast in the morning. It's a great deal at 500 yen.
Cons: Since the bathroom is shared (we didn't know that) there is some noise from other occupants coming and going down the hall at night. Not a big deal though and part of the program with a b&b style house.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host is very friendly and nice! The breakfast is very delicious! The room is clean and tidy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: River view in front of the house is spectacular! It is a beautiful house in and out. We enjoyed our stay. The host is very kind, preparing eggs for us since we had to leave earlier and skip breakfast. Also she did a great favor to us, sending a taxi to pick us at Arakawa when otherwise we had to wait for more than 4 hours for the bus and we just finished our overnight hike and we ran out of food and we were wet as hell.

Pros: We were upgraded to a private room, which was great. It was wide and comfortable. The staff was very nice and helped with everything we needed. The breakfast served from 7 to 8 was vwry tasty and varied.
Cons: The onsen was a little bit small, since it was already crowded with three people in it, but that is the only thing I would slightly complain about.

Pros: Bus station is outside the house, very close. And staff has a magical laugh.
Cons: WIFI is not good
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Naru was amazing! He kindly booked for our restaurant for the night. They have a dry room for hikers which was a plus.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The owners are really kind and the bath is comfortable and really hot
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very communal, family run business. Little personal touches in and around the hostel. Things to read, rent and use in the communal area. Although shared toilets and bathroom, Japanese style and extremely well kept and clean. Bedroom was tatami style, equipped with heating/ air con, table, tissues, bin and a tv. Sink also in the room. Very clean Very helpful family, always willing to offer information and also provide lunch boxes for hikers(it was super tasty), very kind to give us a lift to the bus stop to go to shiratani ravine area (5 mins down the road) which is half an hour away and when we left also offered to drive us to the port (7mins away) he even waited until we were sure we knew where we were going! Nearby are supermarkets either direction, restaurants tend to open around 5/6pm, there’s a very nice one down the road about 5 mins walk to the left of the hostel. Loved staying here, although not hotel style but certainly the most memorable and pleasant stay as everyone was so nice and accommodating.
Cons: No curtain to block out light in the window at the top of the room (cannot reach either)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The accommodation is just absolutely recommendable! Nice staff which made everything to make us feel welcome.. super tasty breakfast and lunchboxes they made for our hike. You can rent hiking shoes and coats there for a good price. Also they have us nice recommendations where to have dinner. You can also wash your clothes there and coffee and tee are for free. A big supermarket is close and also the bus station is directly in the front. Thank you very much for everything!
Cons: The only thing (which isn’t really remarkable) is that the WiFi is sometimes not so strong ... but this is criticism on a high level!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely host! Very convenient location
7.1 Good
Pros: I loved the breakfast which was a traditional Japanese style and the Japanese bath was great. The staff were friendly and helpful-we got driven to the bus stop early in the morning.
Cons: I thought the room had a funny smell, it was a bit stuffy. The location was slightly further out than expected (about 15 minute walk to the town) which was not bad but something to consider if you don't like walking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super nice hosts! They help with everything. The little onsen is very refreshing after a rainy day on the mountain. We recommend the lunch bento boxes they offer for hikes.

Pros: Silence, vast rooms, restaurant
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: You know from the drive up to the hotel that you are arriving to something special. I will keep it short - we had an excellent 3 night stay at this resort hotel. The staff were extremely attentive to our every needs - the chef whipped us up with delicious vegetarian meals that were pictures (we did not stop taking pictures of the dishes we were served). We asked for directions for a recommended site on the Island - the following morning we were given a satellite picture of the site with exact directions. Just a few examples. The Hotel grounds are beautiful and do not miss the waterfall about a 20 minute walk. The bedroom was very lovely with comfy beds, linens, towels - modern, light and clean. The view (either side is amazing). Dining room is very nice and so is the spa , lobby and other public areas. Nice farewell from the staff to end this lovely memorable stay.

Pros: Wonderful house in a magic garden. Secluded with wonderful view on mountains, which should be climbed (tough, early morning rise necessary to enjoy view from peak!) Hosts are very kind and helpful. Spacious room, house very stylish and beautiful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The accommodation was so beautiful with nice kitchen and bedroom, also the garden, felt like as if we were in Hawaii. The day we stayed had strong typhoon and had to stay at home. Definitely will come back!
Marine Blue Yakushima - Yakushima - Building
13
8.6 Excellent (108 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Marine Blue Yakushima in Yakushima, you'll be on the beach and steps from Nagata Inakahama. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location was outstanding. Listened to the ocean waves each night as we slept. Private bath also really well received. Great, remote location if you have a rental car. Great to be near turtles and see them via the Local Turtle Conservation group's organised tours.
Cons: Hot water was a little bit 'hit and miss'. Some general (minor) repairs would significantly lift the 'feel' of the place (not major/expensive repairs... just a bit here and there). There was a bit of confusion around payment, as we had payed via booking.com and this didn't seem to be clearly reflected at checkout time.
6.7 Good
Pros: By the beach
Cons: Our heater was broken. It was really cold and took about 30 min for the staff to try to get it going. Finally we were transferred to another room. We also asked for daily cleaning of our room which didn’t happen
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location right on the beach, outside of season the place was pretty empty and super quiet. We also got to see the turtles hatching on the beach! Staff is super friendly and tries to make guests as comfortable as possible.
Cons: External terrace was made of wood that was a bit old already, stepping too hard could result in damaging it. Pretty difficult to reach without a car.
7.1 Good
Pros: The home cooked food and hospitality
Cons: Location quite far from any shops or food
7.5 Good
Pros: Location was incredible with amazing sunsets from the room, right on the water! Cosy room with everything you need.
Cons: We felt that the money paid was a bit much for just a room without meals..staff was hard to communicate in English. You must have a car to get there! It’s 30 min from the port city. No Wi if in rooms.
7.5 Good
Pros: The view from our beachfront room was spectacular
Cons: Our AC unit leaked for 3 days, although it did cool the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The location right next to the beach is great. Food was delicious.
Cons: Nothing negative, just two recommendations: - Recommended to have a rental car. - Diner should be booked at least one day ahead.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location, excellent rooms and cleanliness
Cons: The showers are quite bad :(
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Outstanding location directly at the empty beautiful beach with chances to watch the sunset in the sea (if whether permits). Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent Japanese dinner - highly recommended as there is no restaurant in the vicinity.
Cons: Very small rooms (no wardrobe, although there is a small refrigerator), a car is needed to get around.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Home made dinner and breakfast with great local seafood and ingredients. Big and comfy common area and room with balcony direct access to beach. Superb beach view (too bad raining bad during our stay).
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Beautiful hotel, very close to bus stations, amazing traditional breakfast, the staff at the breakfast was amazing considerate to me and my allergy, very helpful and nice staff, highly recommended!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff and facilities were amazing, staff were friendly and really helpful especially with my lack of japanese language. Advice on sightseeing, pack lunches were fab, helpful and really welcoming.
Cons: Nothing everything from Staff and japanese food were absolutely great.
7.9 Good
Pros: Room got a very nice ocean view and was very clean.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I absolutely loved the look of the hotel. The staff was INCREDIBLY friendly. Absolutely the best service I've had from a hotel. There was one particular staffer that really catered to my needs the entire stay. They helped me figure out the hikes I should go on, which buses to take, etc. There's a Japanese bath that's very spacious and an option for a stone spa if you want. I cannot rave enough about this place. It's just beautiful and next to a local restaurant called isso no kaoru.
Cons: Absolutely nothing.
6.7 Good
Pros: It’s next to the sea and there is an ofuroba.
Cons: The location was inconvenient for my needs. Was troublesome, an effort and relatively expensive to keep on travelling to whilst exploring the island.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a million requests and questions and the staff happily answered every question and accommodated every request. The excellent facilities are kept immaculate all day. The food at the hotel was wonderful and the nearby sushi restaurant was one of my all-time favorites. The rooms and the hotel offered beautiful views. The onsen was delightful and I want to marry the free massage chair. The hotel is close to the local bus stop and the ferry harbor.
Cons: Leaving the island.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: In short, even though the staff had just enough English to get by, they were by all means incredibly helpful. Some might find their suggestion to leave room keys at the front desk when you go, but they are larger keys and the staff uses it as a way to engage with you and schedule your meals if you had paid for them.(I had purchased the room with included breakfast) While the practice may seem odd, it was never a big deal to get my key and head back to my room. The main thing I thankful for, and why I appreciated the staff: I told the staff I was checking out before desk hours (~5AM or so) and they inquired as to why, and insisted I make my reservation at a closer port and helped me figure out a much less stressful time frame with the bus schedule. I did exactly that, and unfortunately the ferry company moved the early morning ferry to the other port. The staff came to my room later in the day and told me about this change, and then helped me rearrange my schedule to make sure I could catch my boat on time. It's not something I expected, and I'm pretty grateful that they kept track of that and wanted to help me. Had they not, I'd have found out too late and would've had to delay my other travel plans by at least 4 hours (which would not be fun). To the staff of Yakushima Green Hotel: ありがとうございました

Pros: Beautiful quiet location overlooking sea yet near to Anbo port, friendly and very efficient staff, fabulous facilities including a wonderful bath house spa, extensive choice of breakfast, all woven together in a serene and seamless manner. The traditional Japanese style room is amazing - infused with smells of cedarwood and tatami matting.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: this hotel is 1 min walking from bus station No.61 CHUO, which is easy to visit the Giant Jomon-sugi. You can walk 5 min to a main bus terminal to buy day-passes and walk around 15 min to tourist information center. the island has only one surrouded road and you may not worry about missing way. the green hotel, its facilities and staffs are far more my expectation. the people there are very polite and friendly to schedule the travel route and call one viewing spot for whether they could take care of my lugguges. especially thanks to the pretty girl who helped check-in/out, ordered hiking-lunchbox and saw me off out of hotel. thanks for making my trip in yakushima memorable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location and very spacious! The staff were always so helpful and polite, everything with a smile. ありがとうみなさん! I loved the free tea and biscuits in the room and the free onsen. The supermarket opposite the hotel has some tasty food and drinks. This hotel really made my vacation perfect!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Daichan is the best. He told us everything we would ever need to know about the local hikes, roads, beaches, onsens, resteraunts, and everything else. We felt that he genuinely cared about us and our wellbeing. Not only did Daichan give us a place to stay, he gave us a story that we'll all be telling for a lifetime. Make sure you bring a beautiful woman!
7.5 Good
Pros: This was one of the most memorable travelling experiences I've had - ever. The yurt is huge (there were only two of us so we had lots of space), hot water was always provided, the location is quite close to the road but that means there's a bus stop close to the house. Bought the "free" bus pass that allows you to travel on (almost) all local buses on Yakushima, good value for money. Good location if you're interested in seeing Jomonsugi, Kigensugi, experiencing the onsen next to the sea (and sometimes under it), the various waterfalls or the Harutahama Beach (tropical fishes, sea urchins, corals in tide pools, turtles!). Relaxing, unique and fun place! ...but really, the spiders were monsters. Try walking around after dark and have a headlamp on you. All those small glittering eyes - spiders.
Cons: ........bugs. Spiders. It's not the hostels fault, but if you get the creeps from bugs then consider not walking around after sunset.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The host Mi-kun was really very helpful and friendly. He would even drive me to the restaurant since the bus schedule ends early.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The accommodation is different to what I have stayed in before and gives you the feeling of being camping. The owner is wonderful and probably one of the best hosts I have stayed with. He drove me around the Anbo area showing me some beautiful waterfalls and scenic views. A very kind person.
Cons: This accommodation is a little out of Anbo which is fine, I rented a bicycle and was able to cycle there in a bout 15 minutes. If you have a lot of luggage I do not recommend walking there. Renting a car or using the bus is your best option.
5.4 Okay
Pros: General feel of the mongol hut. The value.
Cons: The cockroach, the loooong check-in, the global confort.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and funny host that helped us to plan our hikes around the island. Using Google translate he will provide you many informations and drive you to local restaurants or bring you onigiri to eat on your day out. The yurts are confortable and the place is conveniently located to catch buses. We will come back !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Kind of isolated, 35 min walk from Anbo so great if you’re looking to get away from civilisation! There’s a bus station right outside the property too so easy to make the connections. The whole setting is great, well thought-out, and the host genuinely cares, is very attentive and so very helpful with tips about getting around, bus timetables, onsen acces, restaurant recommandations all put together in a neat binder. He also offered to pick me up/drop me off out of bus service hours. He really loves his job of hosting people and it shows. Really funny guy as well.
Cons: Pretty cold/humid even inside but I was there in January so that was to be expected :) some people might be more sensitive to that though so if you have a fragile immune system and are coming here during winter, I’d recommend looking elsewhere.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner was incredibly attentive. He helped me plan my outings, gave me plenty of snacks, and even gave me a ride to the grocery store. Super nice guy, I really appreciate all his and his wife's help :)
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: The host was amazing. He provided suggestions for places to visit, maps, and directions. He even brought us popsicles and drove us in his personal car to an amazing onsen.
7.5 Good
Pros: It was a very different experience staying in a yurt. The host was very helpful and even gave us a lift into town several times to the supermarket and dropped us off and picked us up from dinner as buses were limited. He uses google translate so you can communicate really easily.
Cons: The island is fairly remote so not many buses and they finish early. Which means it’s hard to get our for dinner at night without relying on the host to drive you. Although we did a supermarket dinner one night and the host helped us cook in their kitchen.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Located 5min walking from port and bus station. Information center, supermarket are nearby. Serve super dinner with traditional and fresh Yakushima food. Staff are all so nice, answer ur all questions, explain the food and useful tips on the island. The big hotel bath, you must try, relax you from a whole day trekking.
Cons: No
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Diversified breakfast. Friendly staff. Good location.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Localization is great! Just a 2 minute walk from the jet ferry port. I recommend the Japanese style rooms - are much more attractive then the western style ones (though they lack refrigerator which is present in the western style rooms). The bathroom was big/spacious. Breakfast also very good with nice coffee. Hotel has a parking lace right in front of it and if you are using a rental car you can park it there without any problem, which is really very helpful.
Cons: The lack of refrigerator in Japanese style rooms. The restaurant hours are VERY short.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location, super cute hotel. Feels like it’s stuck in time.
Cons: Breakfast was very very early... Only between 7 and 8.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The food is beyond expectation. The breakfast and the dinner are of top quality. The portions of the dinner set are almost too big unless you are a big eater. The spa is clean and modern.
Cons: The hotel is on the shore and the rooms have beautiful view of the ocean but walking to the rocky shore seems to take some efforts. There appeared to be no direct access to the shore from the hotel property.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Food spread was great. Location was really close to the Miyanoura Port which was great for catching the early jetfoil out of Yakushima.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was five mins walks from the port which was great for leaving luggage, and was two mins walk to two bus stops and a supermarket if you needed. The standard twin room had an absolutely stunning view over the ocean (only slightly impeded by the newer hotel block below) with two large beds and ample space. Most of the staff were very kind and helpful. The spa was lovely and modern and razors etc are available if you ask. General amenities all good and readily available too. Easy check in and out process. The view made it worthwhile.
Cons: A bit tired and too expensive for what you get. Breakfast was as to be expected for an included buffet, nothing outstanding just very fresh and a large variety.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice decorated lobby, room. Tasty and diverse breakfast. Beatifull sea view from the room. Friendly staff.
Cons: We felt a little stuffy in the room.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location and service are good. Dinner is just so so but very convenience.
7.1 Good
Pros: Large, clean rooms with a Seaview.
Cons: Wifi is very sketchy. Breakfast is too early 6 to 8:30. Information provided on local area is outdated.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Local food dinner is delicious!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great dinner!
Cons: Short onsen time in the morning
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: The cleaning lady was extremely nice. The onsen is also great. The main building is lovely but only if you actually get the room you paid for. BEWARE and don’t get SCAMMED
Cons: BEWARE. They SCAM tourists, they put tourists into their round cottage huts regardless of what room you paid for. We paid for a standard room and a superior room and were stuffed in their outdoor round huts which were MOLDY and used for storage. There were literally spare sofas and wrapped up TVs in our room. When we went to complain they blamed it on us and on booking.com saying it didn’t specify what type of room. But luckily we had our confirmation email and the photos on booking.com of the different room types. Also their map (attached) shows that the superior room we paid for was in a different area of the hotel which was clearly not where we were put. They also couldn’t explain why our standard and superior rooms were the same cottage style when we paid a lot more for the superior room. In the end they had no choice but to admit to their “mistake”. Hard to call it that when it was deliberate and they feigned ignorance. Bottom line is they are racist and give priority to locals and people of Japanese descent. They ended up putting us in the correct superior room which was clean and 3x bigger and in the main building but said “we are fully booked for the standard room! It is Jan 3rd and busy after all” To which I replied “well that’s not my problem since you sold me a standard room. I shouldn’t have to suffer a moldy dark and cold cottage room in the car park.” They then shrugged and said “sorry” but clearly weren’t. They ended up charging us for both rooms even though we gave them back the cottage room key and just ended up all staying in the superior room. TERRIBLE management.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Front desk staff was excellent. Very helpful in helping us to rearrange our jetfoil schedule to depart earlier before the in coming typhoon. Onsen.
Cons: Nothing

7.1 Good
Pros: Good location on the river.
Cons: Too many people packed in for dinner and breakfast, with the result that at mealtimes we were almost sitting in the laps of our neighbours. The number of people was also a problem for the onsen which was crowded. The walls of the rooms were quite thin.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nicely decorated room in a beautiful location. Rooms were immaculately clean. Breakfast was delicious.
Cons: Very uncomfortable futons. Stayed in many traditional Japanese rooms and these were the worst comfort wise! Particularly considering the price.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean / free parking / bento breakfast for hiking
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet location yet near public transport and shops, modernised traditional style. Very helpful and friendly staff who let me check in early due to the cyclone creating havoc with plans. A very cosy and comfortable stay : )
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location, large, comfortable room with amazing view, near the center of town, lots of parking for rental cars, and the breakfast was consistently top tier.
Cons: The staff speaks limited English, and with our limited Japanese,we communicated mostly in charades.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This is a lovely authentic Japanese ryokan with good size rooms. Everything is very clean and the onsen (hot baths) are excellent for washing out all your hiking aches. The breakfast is delicious and plenty of food to start the day. The hotel staff are very polite and helpful, and smiles and handwaving gets over any comms problems.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location easily walkable from Miyanoura port. Stunning views across the river to the mountains. I was hiking early one morning of my stay so the hotel prepared a delicious packed breakfast to take. I stayed in the annexe and my room had a private bathroom and bath/shower.
7.1 Good
Pros: Nice house, nice room, the car ride to the ferry terminal
Cons: Walls are really really thin, futon not that comfortable

Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff, great food and views from the room. Also, the onsen was a great addition to our stay!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The Omarahachi bus stop is right outside (you can take this to Shiratani Unsuikyo). They were able to pick me up when I arrived at the harbour and helped out by holding my bags and calling taxis, hot water for noodles etc. There's also a big supermarket nearby if you don't want to have the full decked out dinner or breakfast. The onsen was nice :)
Cons: The wifi didn't work very well. I'm not sure if this is a common thing across the island, though.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The room and the bed are comfortable. The staff of the hotel is very kind. The location is very good.
Cons: The 1st floor is full of food smell.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very good location about 10 min drive from Miyanoura port. Nice japanese rooms, free amenities and yukata. Didn’t try the onsen though. Free parking! The staff was very nice and helpful. For those who are hiking, they do rent hiking material, there’s a place to dry your boots and clothes and you can easily order bentos for your hike. (We didn’t try theirs though)
Cons: A little expensive for its worth. The ryokan is a little old and even though there is an onsen, it was more expensive than what we paid for in other cities in Japan
8.3 Excellent
Pros: very clean and comfortable, we had a good rest after hiking
Cons: poor wifi connection
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great service and friendly staff. Spacious and comfortable room overlooking the river. Really beautiful! Felt very safe and peaceful. Had an onsen included which was a nice feature.
Cons: We got a room that had been smoked in. An older hotel but not bad.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing food amazing staff great place. Highly recommend!
Cons: It was perfect
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Japanese style accommodation with communal bath available. I slept in a futon on tatamis with a view on the river. Very nice staff and nice traditional Japanese food. The staff can pick you up and take you back to the airport upon request.
Cons: nothing it was all great!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The onsen and yukata, very good traditional breakfast
