Avis and National both offer 24h returns. If you're returning outside of their staffed hours you can simply place your keys and paperwork into the appropriate drop-box located just outside their offices. Budget and Avis have the longest staffed opening hours, between 12:00 and 22:30 during the week and 9:00 and 16:00 on the weekend. Avis also has a loyalty program and this location includes express pick-up services for members of that program. If you usually prefer to pay by debit, while all providers require a credit card for deposit, Avis allows you to use a debit card for payment when you return the vehicle.
You will need your driver's license, which can be in English or French, if it's in another language you will also need an international driver's license. You will also need to present your passport as well as an accepted credit card. We recommend checking ahead with your chosen provider about what credit cards they accept.
You can find on-site car hire at Windsor Airport conveniently located just across from the domestic Baggage Claim hall. To get there from the International Arrivals hall, go through border security and exit into the main hall. The desks will be located ahead on the left, just past check-in. Once staff have gone over your booking and paperwork they will direct you to your vehicle located in the pick-up and return lots just outside the terminal.
Car rental companies that offer shuttle or pick-up services from Windsor airport to off-airport locations include Avis, Budget, and Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

Cons:It is not my case but when someone is renting the vans or other bigger vehicles, they should be allowed more then 200 free kilometers a day. At least 300 or 400 km. People want a good reliable car (van truck) with enough km when they need one or they go on vacation with the family.
Cons:Price gouging and over charging by Avis. No care for people, all about the money. Child’s car seat was dirty and quite a hassle for them. Car was ok but service from Avis representatives was poor and disorganized.

Cons:It took me at least an hour to get my car. There were 3 agents working. Since I was doing a turn around flight this utilized far too much of my needed time. This was the LONGEST I've ever had to wait and get a car and the issue wasn't stock. There were plenty of cars on hand.
Cons:I booked a car through Kayak to be available to me when I landed at the Detroit Airport. The car I reserved, for some reason, is not at the Detroit Airport. It's in Windsor Ontario. And the great price I received was in Canadian dollars so it wasn't so great after all. And when I attempted to contact customers service, there is none to be found. Nice job Kayak!

Cons:Since only one agent to serve both Avis and Budget, it slows down the check in process.
Pros:Nothing. They didn't give me the car I booked. They kept the nicer car for other potential bookings. When i asked for the car i booked they argued... "it shouldn't matter since your saving money" ya Two dollars! i brought the car back and they claimed i put a small crack in the headlight. I didnt!

Cons:Instead of telling me when I booked the reservation that they were sold out at the airport I flew into. It booked my car reservation somewhere in Canada. I ended up using an Uber.

Cons:I found out that the reservation was not st DTW, but rather at a smaller regional airport and, though on the phone the representative was very kind and transferred the reservation for no charge, at DTW the representative would not honor that and insisted on doubling the rate. So I left and rented from Thrifty.

Cons:The car was dirty and rattled with every little bump in the road. But the most annoying issues was that the car charger didn't work therefore my gps died and I was lost 20 miles from my destination. I called alamo and they said no problem, just go to the nearest alamo to swap cars. Well... the nearest alamo was 50 miles away. Impossible to do, i was in the area on business. Ended up having to spend $150 for a new gps that would plug into the USP port. Very dissatisfied all around. Never again.....
Cons:I had reserved a vehicle through them. Three days before the reservation date I was emailed that to vehicle was over booked. I the email it said that they would like to offer me alternatives, but I was given zero and got the run around, oh and of course they were closed over the weekend when I got the email and I had to wait until a day before my trip to sort it out. No one helped at all, given zero alternatives, and just told to call priceline/discount company. I will never use them. Had to pay $500 more for a car since it was so close to when I needed it.

Cons:The fact that I booked my van rental two months in advance to make sure I had one for my trip and the day I was going to pick it up there was nothing available make me so mad. I was super lucky to have found a van with enterprise at the last minute! After that I will always rent from them. They have the best service!
