Venice Luxury Car Rentals

Cons: The car was filthy - seats stained, had half eaten food between seats, dirty plastic cups and used tissues int the car. It is clear the van had been used for commercial purposes, it was not fit to be used for a family vacation trip. I had to wait an hour for the car from when I arrived which made it clear it wasn’t ready and they tried to clean it a last minute, maybe even put the back chairs back in as the middle row wasn’t fitted well and the seats rocked a bit. Also the power outlet didn’t work so I couldn’t charge my phone for using as a GPS. It was very disappointing.

Cons: We waited over an hour after our scheduled reservation time to get the car. We had carefully planned our itinerary and the late departure (waiting for the vehicle to be taken for fuel) messed things up badly. We ended up in rush hour traffic, which delayed our arrival in Tuscany and cost us extra $$

Cons: Car was dirty at pick up Drop off was not assisted by anybody since they open at 8:00am and I had to check in before then: there were Hertz people at the booth, they did not take care of drop off. Insurance was super pricy: almost 400 euros full coverage. They did not recommend Allianz one I did

Cons: Pickup took 3hrs in the fuckin airport because there werent enough people working on the desks. Just a nonsense wait in a hot area of the airport with nothing to eat or do.

Cons: Car was not as represented to hold 7 passengers and 5 luggage. We had to rent a second car.

Cons: We booked a car to be returned to Piazzale Roma in Venice Italy. With printed confirmation from them. However, nobody informed us that there is actually NO SIXT office at all at that location!! It was a Saturday, nobody picked up the phone when we called multiple times trying to figure out where to go. We were given an exact address that did not exist! After 3 hours of going back and forth in the area in torching heat and with 2 young children, one police officer on the road suggested we return the car at the airport. We did. The airport is far from there. We had to take the cab back to Piazzale Roma. We tried to complain at the airport counter, but nobody cared" I am just working here, I am not in charge". I said, please give me a receipt that I actually returned the car. They did not want to; they said it will come in my e-mail in a few days !!??!! It did come in the mail a few days later, but really, I had no proof that that I actually returned the car ok and in time!

Cons: The car had Bluetooth for phone calls, but not music

Cons: The pickup/dropoff area is totally insane.

Cons: As usual the insurance questions and answers are different at the counter than they are on the phone in the US. I am very tired of this dilemma which seems to be the norm no matter what country you are renting in. As the “go between” in booking it would be fabulous if you had online references about

Cons: More clarity with what the car will actually cost when we arrive.

Cons: Coordinating the vehicle pickup was a bit confusing, but not unmanageable. The hours of operation were pretty limiting and the fee for an airport drop-off outside of those hours cost nearly as much as the rental itself, despite being only a few minute drive away. There was no opportunity to verify or indicate any damages on the vehicle prior to pickup and when we asked the representative, he simply told us that he already marked everything and not to concern ourselves with it. I also found it odd that the hold amount was about $800, but if you utilized their exorbitant insurance, rather than your own it was only $200; not a huge deal, but could cause issues for somebody on a budget.

Cons: Rental Car signage at Venice Marco Polo airport is very poor. Hard to tell where to go for pick up. Lots of unnecessary walking. Similarly, not clear exactly how to return cars (I've rented many dozens of times). Signage poor. No expiation at time of rental. Nonetheless, car clean functional, smooth operating.

Cons: They charged me the parking garage fee (29 Euro) when I returned it and Europcar was very difficult to get a hold of when I needed to make a change.

Cons: The rental agency could not be reached by phone for inquires.

Cons: The first car we were offered was missing its rear wiper. (Not just the rubber blade, but the whole thing -- arm and all.) They switched us to a different vehicle, and it was great -- but the first vehicle should have been taken out-of-service, repaired, and then returned to the fleet.

Cons: Overcharged me on the final bill by almost $100. Desk agent said the "Optional Fuel Purchase" was mandatory but the charge would be removed if I brought the vehicle back with a full tank. Of course the final bill included the "optional fuel purchase" even though I returned the car with a full tank. Also the diesel car required several fillings of the additive "AD BLUE" or it would not start. Total out-of-pocket extra of more than 20 Euros. Reflection of poor vehicle maintenance/servicing on the part of Dollar/Hertz.
