The Avis line to pick up the car was over 35 minutes long and one agent's shift ended just as I approached. Not bad for me since I was next but the line extended even longer than when I got there. Possibly if I have Avis Preferred I could have eliminated all that wasted time. Also, my reservation was weird where they made me put down over $400, the $250 deposit plus some. Somehow the 'voucher' where I already paid for the vehicle just wasn't jiving with their system. I checked days later and showed no charge from Avis so I believe it was ok but the 'checkout' didn't work well with their system at all. The initial agent assigned the wrong class of car. Once discovered I found another agent who corrected the error. The vehicle was not fully cleaned some slight debris was left in the interior.Reviewed 31 Mar 2026

When I arrive to pick up my vehicle, a pick up truck. Was not available. I called the 800 number and was sent to another location that they said had one, they did not. This caused a major problem for me. The only redeeming factor was that the gentleman at the Stony Brook location was extremely polite and helpful. Car was fine. Pickup was disastrous. I spent over an hour at the counter with vague excuses given me about their computer system not working well. The first associate that was “helping” me started a phone call with the garage attendant and was on the phone for half an hour before walking away without explanation. One of the other counter attendants sat eating her breakfast rather than trying to rectify the issue. Eventually one of the attendants helped get me a car which ran but by that time I’d been waiting standing at the counter for over an hour while my wife was watching our toddler and infant. Loved trying out my first EV. Thank heavens the instruction manual was in the glove compartment because I really needed an orientation to the vehicle. The manual really did help. I hope to rent another EV next trip and hope that subcompacts will be available. Avis people behind the counter in Daytona were friendly and helpful.Reviewed 30 Mar 2026

it was very kind form the staff to allow me to pick the car just on tie, I arrived to the Avis office at 16:50 when they were about to close the office. The only thing is that I have to look for the car at the parking lot, and although it was not very difficult it was a bit weird. Other that that, the car was clean, the service was nice, and everything was just PERFECT. Thank you!Reviewed 30 Mar 2026

Unacceptable wait time for checking out the car. Horrible road side assistance in Costa Rica. NEVER AGAIN will I rent a car here. Police and 2 insurance adjusters had to come to scene of extremely minor accident. Waited 3 hours on side of road in a nasty dirty smelly area. This was after waiting one hour to get the car.
