Pros: Great boutique B&B perfectly located in Cerro Concepcion. Wonderful breakfast, helpful staff, very comfortable room. We really enjoyed our stay!
Cons: A little bit of noise from the street and the internal stairs at night but wasn’t much of an issue.

Pros: The location was phenomenal on Cerro Alegre. Close to restaurants, shops, the stairs down to the port district and all your heart could desire. The staff was extremely helpful, the breakfast was delicious! The B&B is beautifully decorated and the rooms are spotlessly clean.
Cons: The walls in our room were a bit thin so you could hear everything going on in the shared hall and because there is a window on the top of each door the light in the hall can be bothersome but it's easy to turn it off. But these aren't actually issues, just something to keep in mind and pack/prepare for (e.g. packing ear plugs). All in all a great place to stay!

Pros: The owners of this hostel are a French couple who speak English, Spanish, and French. They were very sweet and kind to us. We arrived late in the evening after being robbed. The owner helped us put a plastic covering over the broken window of our rental car. He was very kind and accommodating despite the fact that we did not communicate our late arrival time. The hostel was clean, big, and very cool inside. The rooms were nice and the location was pretty central, but also quiet and safe.

Pros: Staff were welcoming and helpful. The lobby was welcoming and comfortable. A keurig style espresso machine downstairs made mornings more special. If you need a beverage or a pick-me-up, there's a cooler downstairs where you can buy sodas, energy drinks, aloe juice, and still water.

Pros: All you need is a clean room with a comfortable bed and good hot water (it was hot but took a long time to come through) - Hotel Da Vinci ticked all these boxes. Staff were very friendly & helpful, even with the language differences.

Pros: The owner was really helpful and let us check in early. He showed us where to go and where not to go. Even helped organise a rental car with a local company when none of the websites would allow us to book one online. The location was great because its situated not far from everything. It's a easy walk to the main bars, close to banks and there are restaurants just up the hill on the same street. You have to get use to the plumbing in the showers as you have to run the water for quite a while before it gets hot but there are signs in the bathroom telling you what to do. The only issue was the curtains on the first floor bedroom did not fully cover the whole of the window facing the outside. However, we enjoyed it so much that we returned the following week on the way back to Santiago and got a room on the ground floor which had one of the most comfortable beds we had slept in during our trip.

Pros:
Cons: Pathetic breakfast. On our second day we decided to skip it altogether and paid to have breakfast at a cafe.

Cons: Conversations, footsteps, other people's TVs, cell phones ringing... all of it entered our room as though our bed were in the center of the lobby with zero walls around us. On Saturday morning at 4:30, someone walked back and forth across our ceiling eleven times in five minutes, then down the stars and back and forth across the lobby. They continued up and down the stairs and across our ceiling till well after 7:30. Every footstep echoed in our room and kept us wide awake. Sleep was not possible with the level of noise that carried into our room. Additionally, one entire wall of our room is floor-to-ceiling windows that look out on the center courtyard and the interior hallways opposite our room. Ordinarily, this would be spectacular... except that the curtains that were meant to provide us privacy weren't big enough and only covered a portion of these enormous windows. With the curtains fully stretched as far as they would go, it was still possible for someone to stand to one side and have a full and unobstructed view of us in our room. Privacy was not possible unless the lights were off. This was rather frustrating.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Location, wood fired heater in reception.
Cons: The shower leaked through the floor boards and wet all of our clothes and electrical items. The staff moved us to another room but didn't follow up with us the next day.

Pros: All you need is a clean room with a comfortable bed and good hot water (it was hot but took a long time to come through) - Hotel Da Vinci ticked all these boxes. Staff were very friendly & helpful, even with the language differences.
Cons: I chose the single room over two storeys, and the headroom was not good for a tall person like me. This was my choice, not a criticism of the hotel. In hindsight I should have paid more for a room with full headroom.

Cons: The bathroom shower stalls are cramped, and one shower was leaking water from the shower head, but the staff quickly moved me to another room with a slightly larger bathroom. Some rooms have better views than others. The first room I stayed in faced the port, but the view was partially blocked by a large, ugly concrete building. It would be helpful for the hotel to post views (and other details) about each room.

Pros: Our room at the Ultramar Hotel had amazing views of the ocean and of the residential communities that surrounded us in the hills of Valparaiso. At night we were able to enjoy the city lights and the bells ringing in a distant church. I loved walking up and down the hills daily and visiting Pablo Neruda's home, La Sebastiana, within a 25- minute walking distance that was largely on flat ground. I further enjoyed all the walking tours of Valparaiso. Our guides were very knowledgeable about the history of Valparaiso, the architecture and its people. The walking tour of Mural Art was fantastic! The murals are fantastic and made me feel like I had walked into a magical Wonderland.

Cons: If you're staying alone, the walk back from the centre might be a little too far after dark (not a dislike, just something to bear in mind). The room was very spartan, so it's a good, clean, reliable place rather than a luxury aesthetic experience -- but I thought that was fine, because the price is reasonable. I would stay here again :)

Cons: My husband and I are fairly fit and we enjoy long walks. For those not in the practice of walking a lot, there are taxis that we saw regularly climbing the hill to deliver locals to their homes and communities. The only annoyance in walking was the presence of many stray dogs and dog poop. Thankfully, the dogs appeared healthy, leading me to believe they are communally fed. Being vigilant about avoiding dog poop and broken sidewalks is strongly advised!

Pros: Staff at front desk were friendly enough and spoke a little English; elevators were functioning and clean, room was minimalist but clean and comfortable and quiet; bathroom was clean with nice showerhead; front desk called a private taxi for us when we checked out. A young man on the staff went out of his way to let us know how long we could expect to wait for the cab and to let us know when it arrived for us.

Pros: Consistent Ibis standard, you know what you get, good room, good showers and hot water, very good breakfast, helpful staff
Cons: There is a privately operated gym on the 3rd floor and the muscle junkies roll and drop weights day and night so ask for a room on sixth or seventh floor on the opposite side to the gym

7.7 Good
Pros: Staff at front desk were friendly enough and spoke a little English; elevators were functioning and clean, room was minimalist but clean and comfortable and quiet; bathroom was clean with nice showerhead; front desk called a private taxi for us when we checked out. A young man on the staff went out of his way to let us know how long we could expect to wait for the cab and to let us know when it arrived for us.
Cons: We missed the full breakfast, so when we went to the self-serve breakfast afterward, the options were limited to basically bread, coffee, and tea. That would have been fine, except staff did not seem interested in making breakfast easy or comfortable for us. The area was messy from the full breakfast earlier that morning, and we had to ask where to sit and how to get our food, because the staff in the cafe area were not especially attentive or helpful to us obvious foreigners.
7.0 Good
Pros: Very fast and efficient staff
Cons: I could be a little bit cleaner
6.7 Good
Pros: Location, breakfast.
Cons: Musty smell in corridors, air con didn’t work properly, ugly building, badly designed room layout with half the room completely empty and all furniture crammed in other half so that one side of bed jammed up tight to wall. Crazy!
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Ibis is located right on the docks and above the metro station. We loved the colors of the barges and the city outside our window. The location was so central to museums, the historic neighborhoods and important monuments.
Cons: Breakfast was pretty weak and the pillows were a bit clumpy.
