Pros: Lovely place to spend the night in Sintra! The room was great and very comfortable. The breakfast was amazing. Karen was a great host, who gave great advice for the sightseeing or for the dinner in Sintra. :-)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff, breakfast, location
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Karen made us feel welcome from the start. Location was perfect, easy walking distance around the centre. Breakfast a terrific bonus.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the Sintra Guesthouse. The staff was fabulous: they did a wonderful job orienting us to the town, transportation and the nearby attractions. Monday is the busiest day in Sintra and we were provided with a great plan to optimize our time. The Guesthouse location was perfect: it was quiet, but still in the midst of all activities. Our room was large with a wonderful terrace and breakfast was ample and good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The economy suite was spacious and private. Location of the hotel is really great. Breakfast in the morning was pretty awesome. Staff was very helpful in suggestions and arranging transport.
Cons: Nothing!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Karen and staff always very approachable and provided good tips about best transportation to the palaces.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location was good.
Cons: Suite directly on street has no privacy. We were Relocated to villa which was more private but damp and unfortunately there is a cat marking it’s territory in the outdoor space outside so not a good smell. Claustrophobic atmosphere at breakfast Too many tiny tables too close together and sitting in kitchen next to bin and opposite staff washing up was unpleasant.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Classic, clean, simple design elements conducive to a perfect sanctuary in tourist laden Sintra. In the morning you are greeted with a lovely breakfast. Lovely staff, owners and accommodations make this a great place to staff!
Cons: Appreciated all of it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location and beautiful property. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Would stay here again!
Cons: nothing!
7.1 Good
Pros: Good location- within walking distance to Quinta de Regaleira. Nice receptionist who checked me in. Breakfast was a pretty big spread. They held my bags after I checked out. Great water pressure in the shower.
Cons: For some reason, this place felt a little off to me. I stayed in the ‘suite with balcony and terrace’ and although it’s a large room and has a nice little terrace, it’s essentially a bed in the middle of a windowed room. All of the shades can be closed of course, but it just felt a little makeshift to me. Bed was pretty hard. My advice would be to explore other options.

7.9 Good
Pros: The location is great if you want to live close by to the historical center. Bus 434 stops right outside.
Cons: It’s a bit pricy for what you get. The room was ok but interior wise the “Boutique” in the hotel name seems a bit misleading, or then its just me...

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful staff and centrally located.
9.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Central location
Cons: Nothing I can think of
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was fantastic, only a short walk to the Palacio Nacional. Very friendly and helpful staff. As we drove to and from the hotel, I appreciated the drop-off zone in front of the hotel. Hotel staff then parked our car for the duration of our stay and had the car available for us at the drop-off zone for an early morning departure.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location. Clean and quiet. Very good breakfast and very comfortable big bed. Excellent value for money
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel staff was super-friendly and helpful, one of the front desk staff parked our car right in front of the hotel (no charge), great location for good restaurants, transportation to the local sights, etc. Will definitely stay here again!
Cons: Only problem was a lot of construction in the area... Made driving around the area difficult, but likely only a temporary problem.

Pros: Every detail was handled exceptionally by the staff.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: All the staff are gentle. The building and garden is beautiful. We enjoyed a calm time with relaxing atmosphere.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful in every way, both the building the gardens the views. Perfect food. A magical visit for our 25th Wedding Anniversary, returning from a night on honeymoon. It was even better after 25 years!
Cons: Could not keep the window open without using a prop and do not like air conditioning. Otherwise perfect in every way.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel, amazing setting, excellent service! Sandro was especially helpful to us during checkin and provided great recommendations during our stay.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: First class delightful views and grounds close walk to center Sintra without all the crowds
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The peace and quiet
Cons: The drive to the Palace and drive out are very difficult!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A Magic Place. We particularly loved lunch on the terrace. The staff was beyond wonderful, all of them, and there were many.
Cons: Although our room was comfortable, there were only two side chairs other than the bed, so no comfort sitting place, which was a noticeable deficiency while one waited for the other. And like Maine, because the unique traffic circulation challenges, you "can't get there from here". In the Center, not 1000 meters away, taxis refused to take us there because they would have to drive 10 KMs to get back to the taxi stand. So, if you don't fancy a good walk, with some significant grade, it will be a challenge.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Gorgeous old building.
Cons: Our room was in need of obvious maintenance. Most importantly, there was a recent change in the traffic pattern as they made the road in front of the hotel one way in the direction away from town so it now takes over 30 minutes in part on dangerously narrow 2 way streets yo get into town by car. It only takes 6 minutes to drive back. The walk is nice at around 23 minutes but late st night it’s s pain.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was wonderful, the bed was super comfortable & the staff were lovely. We also loved the pianist who played the piano at the weekend. What a wonderful place to spend the weekend.I wish we were there longer.
Cons: The bedroom was a little on the small size. But very well equipped.

Pros: Beautiful, quiet setting. Gracious host. Breakfast was amazing.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The provided breakfast. The free fruits. Provided stash of snacks and drinks in the common area (for a very small cost). Beautiful scenery. A lot of space for the value spent. Super friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable sitting areas outside and a nice parking area for your car. I highly recommend this property!
Cons: The beds in our room were quite uncomfortable being able to feel the bed springs through the mattresses.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I loved the views from my bedroom, the room was spacious, so great. The owner was very welcoming and friendly and great breakfast. The location was ideal as just out of the town centre and also close to the beaches.
Cons: The one thing that needs looking in to is the water pressure in the bathroom. It was low and the hot water was just lukewarm. As I was only staying for two nights, it was fine. I do feel the bathroom could be updated and might be something they should look into.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the deluxe double room for two nights and wish we could have stayed longer. The room is huge, with lovely old furniture and a great balcony/conservatory type area with views of Pena Palace and the castles in the mountains. The bathroom is also spacious and clean. The communal space in the property was amazing, a very grand entrance hall and dining room/lounge all decorated with very charming vintage furniture. Outside is so spacious, the pool area was spotless, and there are a number of other areas to sit and relax, and it is as beautiful as the pictures on here show. The atmosphere was very peaceful and the host was so accommodating. We were slightly worried about getting around as we didn't drive, but we used Uber regularly from the property with no problem at all. It cost €4 and took around ten minutes to get to Sintra centre or the train station where you can catch buses or tuk-tuks to the attractions. To the airport by Uber cost just under €30. We only ate out nearby once at a restaurant called Pateo do Garrett but the food was amazing and less than a ten minute walk. There is also a small area at the property with wine, soft drinks, coffee and cakes available for a small price. The breakfast was worth every cent, was delicious and included bread, croissants, meat, cheese, scrambled eggs, fruit and pastries. We loved our stay here and hope to be back again sometime.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The host, Susanna, was amazing and gracious. She was always available to provide advice and suggestions and made you feel at home. The property was quaint and quite lovely. Breakfast was made with fresh ingredients from the property and served overlooking the town of Sintra with an amazing view of the Moorish Castle and Palace of Pena. It was a lovely quiet location that was still easily accessible to all of the amazing sites that Sintra has to offer.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location, the setting and room balcony with incredible views to Pena Palace and other exciting Sintra places, the gardens, swimming pool - but most of all the wonderful, charming owner - she was full of help, care and local information - absolutely fantastic
Cons: Not being able to stay longer at this wonderful place

Cons: Everything was ok
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice breakfast, beautiful location, very comfortable, except our 3rd bed option for our adult daughter that was too soft( it was a cot), not a real bed as was listed
Cons: That our 3 beds were not 3 beds. A cot for an adult is not a bed. Plus having breakfast outside on terrace was too cold!!! Unpleasant
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Family B&B, like at Home. Lots of suggestions from hosts. Good room (Nr.1) with big bathroom and all facilities.
Cons: B&B Not really easy to find, car with Navy-System or Googlemap is a must! Few restaurants in the nearby, but there is a good portuguese restaurant 1.5km far from the B&B.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful, charming hotel with courteous, hospitable staff!
6.7 Good
Pros: Very cute B&B, breakfast was very good and staff was excellent.
Cons: Location in center of town was not what we expected. Parking on the street was not free. Did not really have any parking, was offered a private area to park that was up the hill behind the hotel, but no access from parking to the hotel. Parking was not paved, looked like it was a dumping ground. The hotel has incredible amount of steps from the street to reach the hotel. We were on the first floor which meant two more flights of stairs.

Pros: Breakfast good except for coffee
Cons: Coffee
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The patio, the staff being readily available, the breakfast included ,the ability to order a glass of wine on the patio, the amazing views from the patio, the quiet air conditioning and the proximity to all services.
Cons: Only one power point in the room - make sure you have a double adaptor and a double usb port if you have more than two devices that need charging. The steep steps up to the hotel, but the staff were very willing to carry our heavy cases up for us. No tea/coffee making facilities or fridge in the rooms ( but available in the lounge).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property that is thoughtfully decorated. Our room - flagged with lovely marble floors - had a dramatic view of the castle. The gorgeous terrace alone is reason enough to book e place. But most importantly we really appreciated the warm service; the super meticulous owner was always around for a friendly chat or to offer advice. Superb value for money - def book this place!!
7.1 Good
Pros: Breakfast was OK - poached eggs were cold and hard every day
Cons: We were unpleasantly surprised on leaving to be charged nearly €5 for two bottles of water, which we were under the impression would be free.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Sintra is a great area to stay. We regret that we did not stay an extra night or two. This hotel was in a perfect location for us, just a moderate walk to the old town - though parking was a bit of a challenge. The breakfast was wonderful, including the excellent coffee. Our room was a good size.
Cons: The parking is very limited, as the free, public lot is jammed with train commuters to Lisbon. Be careful with arriving and relying on your GPS. It sent us up a very steep narrow cobblestoned road, which in the rain had our car sliding backwards! Make sure you stay on main roads.

Pros: Comfy bed, nice pool and exterior decor. Our host, Marcel, was awesome. He called the restaurant to order food that we picked up and had a breakfast prepared for us the day before because we needed to leave the next day at 6:00 a.m. to catch a plane in Lisbon.

Pros: Lovely setting with helpful and friendly staff. Marcel was great at providing google links to various restaurants and places to go.
Cons: Breakfast room was a little small and the croissants were burnt which didn't go down well with my daughter...
9.2 Excellent
Pros: This nice hotel is located near Sintra. From the terrace, you have a view of the Pena Palace and the town. Our room was large and comfortable.
Cons: Breakfast could be a little busy; some things would run out quickly and you had to wait for them to be filled up again. Also, the cleaning of rooms could be done better.

Pool and surrounding areas are beautiful - staff could not do enough to make our two nights stay welcoming. Easy drive into Sintra. Local restaurants on offer. In house laundry offered excellent service for a traveller.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I really loved the living room, and the garden ,especially at night, illuminated and with the little lights on.And everyone was really nice, friendly.Thank you,I will come back.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Friendly but incompatible other guests; nice backyard garden.
Cons: We booked this property on recommendation of a friend, but were very disappointed on arrival and after. We were assigned a 3rd floor room, reached only by 2 flights of stairs so steep my wife could not negotiate them without help. The ceilings of our room were so low we kept bumping our heads, and we are not tall people. The room was unheated and uncomfortably cold; we were bothered during the night by mosquitos, even though we had windows closed and lights off. We woke and went downstairs for coffee to find "guests" sleeping on couches in common areas. Breakfast was very meager, basically juice, cereal, toast and jam, with poor quality coffee (inexcusable in Europe!). When we asked to cancel our remaining 2 nights reservation with refund, we were denied the refund. We left anyway.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Crew was helpful. Hostel was clean and beatiful.
Cons: Nothing to dislike.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Its connection to Lord Byron was a pleasant surprise because even though I studied him and wrote about him, I did not know he stayed at this hotel. No wonder. It is a gorgeous facility.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Amazing large room with balcony on 5th floor with view of forest. Very large, comfortable bed and pillows. nice bathroom. Staff helpful and pleasant. Elevator! Great location. Lovely, historic hotel nestled in a beautiful location. Highly recommend.
Cons: WiFi not always reliable in bedroom but worked great in sitting room.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location and quaint, historic hotel
Cons: Parking is difficult
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable hotel with plenty of character. Ideal for walking into town, but a nightmare to drive to. The one way system in Sintra has obviously changed fairly recently and the car hire satnav had definitely not caught up.
Cons: For a hotel of this standard, staff seemed rather thin on the ground at times. The restaurant was quite good, although the fish was overcooked, and the breakfast, by Portuguese standards, was disappointing.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Was a good location for walking into town & the Quinta de Regaleira.
Cons: Would be great to have more information about how to drive there (with so many one way streets) and parking (or the lack of it).
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful 3-night experience at Lawrences Hotel! This is a small boutique hotel built in 1764, oozing old-world charm and history, and a convenient five-minute walk from Sintra's center. We stayed in the Lord Byron Suite on the 4th floor, and would highly recommend booking a suite, or at least a Superior room on the back side as that is where the views are. Our suite was amazing, with separate Living Room with two doors opening onto the small balcony. Well appointed with period furnishings, large bed and thoughtful little extras, such as an actual electrical outlet in bedroom near the mirror! (Women will understand.) Views from the suite were of the forest at back, and a side view of the valley beyond. Front desk staff was very welcoming, Andrea greeted us and took us to our room, taking time to tour the suite as well as explain all services of the hotel. Cozy feel throughout the hotel. Confused on the reviews that mentioned "dated decor" as all the common areas we saw looked recently done with lovely fabrics and color combinations. And I'm picky! Several areas for quiet reading with a cup of tea. The restaurant had a decent breakfast buffet with an assortment of hot and cold items, fresh fruit, and a bonus of waffles and maple syrup a couple of mornings. We also had dinner in the restaurant one evening, and the food was excellent. Guests enjoy a 30% discount on meals. Restaurant staff were very attentive. Enjoyed the convenience of walking into the center, however Sintra is a popular destination for day-trippers, so is pretty busy with tourists during the day, especially near the National Palace. Driving in Sintra would be a challenge. After 4 or 5pm things slowed down and we enjoyed wandering around town after visiting areas outside of the center, eg. Monserrate Palace, a hidden gem with beautiful gardens, lovely palace, as well as a great cafe for lunch or coffee/tea break. We would stay here again!
Cons: Nothing - all good!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful city
Cons: I did not stay long enough
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Old style, wooden stairs and floors and very atmospheric
Cons: The bed was too hard and the pillows were either too soft or too hard

9.1 Excellent
Pros: We liked the location, staff were really nice, good breakfast! The view was spectacular!
Cons: A little bit old but overall nice hotel
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location of this hotel is across from the National Palace and right next door to many shops and restaurants and just a few minutes to the bus stop. Our bedroom was clean, good size, plain but nicely decorated, quiet and had comfortable beds. The balcony with two chairs and a table was a nice feature from where you could sit and enjoy the beautiful view of the valley. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Although the tile in the bathroom was nice, the grout badly needed cleaning in some places. The toilet paper holder was loose from the wall. The design of the shower stall made the water splash out onto the floor. There was a 3 euro charge for water; first time during our 3 week trip we were charged for H2O. We skipped the 15 euro breakfast buffet.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb, comfortable room the size of an apartment. The hotel was in brilliant location in centre of Sintra with magnificent views. The nespresso in room was lovely, breakfast enjoyable.
