10.0 Excellent
Pros: I'm so glad that we stayed here instead of doing a one day trip from Lisbon! Apart from being able to see more of Sintra, we got to stay at Sintra 1012 Boutique Guest House. The owner, Karen, is delightful, so funny and friendly, we were almost sad we had to leave. The breakfast is great and the coffee too, the rooms are specious and the overall style perfectly captures the town of Sintra. We'll definitely come back here the next time we visit Sintra

Pros: The room was incredibly cozy and had everything we needed for our stay. Amazing, homey breakfasts led the way to awesome days exploring the area. A great location - in the middle of everything, but away from all the noise and hectic atmosphere of tours invading the old town!
Cons: The bathroom could have been a little bit spacier, but still, it's an amazing opportunity to stay within the historical centre of the city and away from huge, soulless hotels around!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful and friendly staff. Great breakfast! Would recommend this hotel to all our friends.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We absolutely adore everything about this hotel! We are getting married in the 14th century monastery next year and cannot wait to return and stay!
5.8 Okay
Pros: Amazing green fields well taken care. Friendly and highly educated staff.
Cons: The hotel looks like it is frozen in time. It needs definitely an upgrade to align with the high end price. The rooms look like they were extract from an old movie, with very old furniture and giant old phones. The bathroom is big but it also needs some upgrades. The shower was constantly falling down and almost injuring us. The breakfast was very crowded and they make you wait in a queue. Not compatible for this hotel price range. The pool adult area was almost empty every day because is the most windy corner. And to help the water was frozen cold. No one can enjoy that gorgeous pool.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything.
Cons: Floor in room had a few too many spots.
7.1 Good
Pros: Location.
Cons: It doesn't deliver what the price promises. Staff is very friendly and wants to help, but it seems like the management structure doesn't allow you to actually get what you need/want. Simple requests (like: can I have a paper napkin at breakfast) take far too much time and effort (10 min + manager had to help...).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Pretty grounds, large room, nice pool

7.5 Good
Pros: Great location
Cons: Service at breakfast was a bit slow
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a wonderful stay at Sintra Boutique Hotel. The location is extremely central, right across the National Palace of Sintra. Of note, it is on a one-way street, and if you miss it, you have to loop around town for 10 mins again, so pay attention! The staff is VERY helpful, welcoming and friendly. The problem with writing a review so late is that I forgot the name of the lovely lady who helped me out, and I wanted to make a special mention of her (Elizabeth? it was the night of September 6th). She helped me book my different tickets, gave great recommendations....AND offered to give me her parking when she was off her shift because I was leaving Sintra way after check-out the next day, and it would have otherwise been very difficult for us to find parking nearby. AMAZING!!! If management reads this, please let her know we are still grateful for her gesture! So as you can see, parking in Sintra is difficult, and this hotel has limited free parking in front; it is best to factor that in and let the hotel know you will be needing parking. The rooms are very comfortable, spacious and tastefully decorated, with bonus views on the palace! It was very convenient to have breakfast included. There is an elevator, a great bonus for me, since I still have great difficulty traveling light. We had an excellent stay in Sintra (too short!) and our stay at the Sintra Boutique Hotel contributed a lot to our experience. I highly recommend it! Hope to be back one day!
Cons: Nothing! Loved it!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is nice as well as the location but I think the professionalism of the front desk was outstanding from the moment we checked in and everyday until we checked out .
Cons: No issues really, other than on our last morning there was not the regular chef in the kitchen and breakfast was delayed and not as good . Minor issue in the larger picture .

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel staff was super-friendly and helpful, one of the front desk staff parked our car right in front of the hotel (no charge), great location for good restaurants, transportation to the local sights, etc. Will definitely stay here again!
Cons: Only problem was a lot of construction in the area... Made driving around the area difficult, but likely only a temporary problem.

Pros: Just about everything.

Breakfast included all kind of fruit varieties you can imagine, set in nicest room of the entire building. The outdoor area was incredibly cozy and beautiful. I hope we can repeat anytime soon.
Cons: Not having more time to stay
7.1 Good
Pros: The bed quality is great. The location is excellent!
Cons: Checked in experience wasnt meet the 5 stars. The welcome wet towels are smelly!!!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location in a very quiet part of Sintra which is very hard these days considering it is overrun by tourists. The hotel itself is like a museum very tastefully decorated and maintained. Very discrete environment. Was our 3rd stay. I would stay here very time
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is charming a Classic historical hotel beautifully renovated
Cons: Nothing to complain about
5.0 Okay
Pros: Gorgeous old building.
Cons: Our room was in need of obvious maintenance. Most importantly, there was a recent change in the traffic pattern as they made the road in front of the hotel one way in the direction away from town so it now takes over 30 minutes in part on dangerously narrow 2 way streets yo get into town by car. It only takes 6 minutes to drive back. The walk is nice at around 23 minutes but late st night it’s s pain.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Majestic palace hotel with tastefully decorated rooms, immaculate views and facilities and wonderfully attentive staff made for a memorable 2 night stay.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel and staff Very chic and well organized Romantic

Cons: There was nothing that we didn't like about it. Parking can be challenging but we got very lucky and got a spot right out side of the gate!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the location, the breakfast was amazing. I would definitely stay there again
Cons: The room are a bit small and since we were below it lacks windows but we were there to visit not sleep
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful building. Nice location. Friendly and helpful staff. Sunny garden.
Cons: The bathroom had a funny smell.
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel is lovely. One of the couples had a room off of the patio and it was very nice. The 2nd couple had an extremely small room. The size was ok but the room had a musty odor to it. We tried opening windows and even got a dehumidifier... to no avail. When checking out they said we should have told them. I feel like with such a small place the cleaning crew should be aware of any odors etc and inform management accordingly.
Cons: See above
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Historic building with lots of charm, very comfortable room, beautiful views, and convenient to Sintra. Staff also gave excellent restaurant recommendations which we very much appreciated.
Cons: Nothing, it was awesome!

Cons: Not enough time in Sintra.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We booked a room for two nights at this lovely heritage Sintra hotel based on the wonderful reviews online and we were not disappointed. The staff were so kind and helpful. It was the extra things they did to make your stay even more special - such as letting us check in early and putting our beer in the common area fridge and labeling it for us. Also when they we realized that on our last day we were leaving at 5am for the airport which meant that we would miss the breakfast, they phoned the cafe and organised for it to be supplied the day we arrived instead (love Europe’s all day breakfasts - the food was amazing too!). Our very spacious room was on the bottom floor and had direct access to the outside garden. It had lovely views and lots of light. This is a beautiful old hotel that is well maintained and a lovely place to stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel, great location. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Excellent views from room and garden. Book you won't regret it. Only thing is better to have a car but restaurants in 10 mins walking distance.

Cons: No air conditioning in the bedrooms
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host was lovely. We were given a very personalised service. Location is great, amazing outlook of the mountain. Chickens and dogs roaming free as well. Felt right at home!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is approx 3km from Sintra and the views of Castelo dos mourous and Palacio da Pena are stunning from the terrace. We were welcomed by the owner Susanna and made to feel very welcome- snacks and drinks are provided at a small cost (honesty bar) and we were encouraged to help ourselves to the fruit growing on the trees, apples, pears, plums, figs. Susanna also recommended the local restaurants, a short walk away. We enjoyed a swim in the pool before sitting on the terrace to soak up the views. Our bedroom was quiet, clean and comfortable. The breakfast served in the morning was fresh, delicious and plentiful and nothing was too much trouble. We were also kindly given a box of apples/pears on leaving. We would definitely recommend staying at this beautiful place.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful place...a little bit up the hill, but since the town was full of hills...to be expected.
7.9 Good
Pros: The Location was great
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is situated in a fairytale setting surrounded by beautiful gardens filled with flowers. It is so quiet that it feels as if you are the only one there. It was nice to have parking available in busy Sintra.
Cons: The toilet was giving problems when you flush it. It would have been nice to have something warm offered at breakfast like eggs or bacon.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice property and older hotel. Convenient location for hiking up to Castelo dos Mouros and the Palace of Pena. 10 minute walk to the historic centre of Sintra. Good breakfast with variety.
Cons: Bit of an uphill walk on cobbles from the train station. Bathroom a little dated.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location, the room was very European with beautiful doors out to a patio. Very quiet, excellent breakfast.
Cons: I wish it had been sunny so we could have had a swim in the pool and enjoyed the garden and patio.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: There is an unforgettable charm of the old villa. The beautiful surroundings and nice big swimming pool. All you need to enjoy the easy time. There is a bus stop in a minute of walking. Although the trial rout to the castles starts within a stone throw. It is reasonably close to the train station and we have traveled twice to Lisbon.
Cons: I have been expecting from the breakfast the same authenticity as from the venue itself. Local products, taste and delicious. Unfortunately the breakfast is a very basic - it is called continental breakfast. The basic tasteless hum and cheese. We survived thanks to the fresh orange juice and nice bread.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were spacious and comfortable and the staff were very friendly and very helpful. The house is beautiful in a slightly old fashioned way and it is set in gorgeous gardens with view of the castle crenellations. There is a fabulous pool and sun loungers to relax on when you can walk no further. Breakfasts were good and included in the price of the room. We can highly recommend.
Cons: We liked everything. The hotel is a 15 minute walk from the old town of Sintra and even if you have a car it’s a good idea to walk as apparently parking is very difficult.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was very good. The grounds, patio and pool are beautiful! We really enjoyed our stay. You can walk into the old town of Sintra.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice large double room . Good breakfast.

Pros: The breakfast buffet was amazing. Eggs, ham, fruit, juices and variety of pastries. The staff was very helpful with advice as to when to visit castles. The room was very comfortable and reasonably priced.
Cons: No Wifi on the last two days! The room was clean except one day I noticed the carpet was not vacuumed .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, amazing staff, helped with questions, keep our baggage after checkout. And breakfast was very nice!
7.1 Good
Pros: The staff are outstanding; friendly, helpful and pro-active when dealing with problems. The location is excellent, the garden is lovely and the breakfast was great. Our bed was comfortable but being on the top floor it had a sloping roof-which meant the only places you could stand up straight we’re the bathroom and each side of the bed. The bathroom was well appointed and had everything you needed.
Cons: Two major issues dragged the score for this hotel down significantly: 1. There is air con in the rooms but they are not individually controlled so on our first night everyone on our air con circuit had the temperature set at 25C for the night. The rooms at the front of the hotel look out to building works (see below) and several late night bars so opening the window meant a lot of street noise throughout the night and then again early in the morning. So no sleep. When we raised this at reception they took immediate action which we were really grateful for, setting everyone’s air con to 20C which was welcome when it’s 33C outside! 2. There are building works being done in the adjoining building and the building across the street. That included using a large drill to remove plaster from the wall adjoining our bathroom. So no sleep after 7.30am and no siesta in the hottest part of the day either. And lots of headache tablets. This isn’t the hotel’s fault and there was absolutely nothing they could do about it, but as a guest, I’m looking for peace and quiet and to be able to sleep in the room. Two nights of insomnia and two days of non-stop drilling = bad rating. If the building works we’re finished we’d stay here again but I’d recommend rooms at the back of the hotel, looking into the garden and on the lower floors if you’re tall.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff at this hotel are all friendly and very willing to assist at anytime. There is an elevator so you do not have to walk the stairs to your room. The breakfast was really good and the staff were very attentive. The beds were very comfortable and rooms very clean. Bathroom facilities were very good.
Cons: I did not dislike anything

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice breakfast, beautiful location, very comfortable, except our 3rd bed option for our adult daughter that was too soft( it was a cot), not a real bed as was listed

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Family B&B, like at Home. Lots of suggestions from hosts. Good room (Nr.1) with big bathroom and all facilities.
Cons: B&B Not really easy to find, car with Navy-System or Googlemap is a must! Few restaurants in the nearby, but there is a good portuguese restaurant 1.5km far from the B&B.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very Scenic location near the center of the city
Cons: Cannot think of something
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The view.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We had a beautiful view from our room. The breakfast was good and substantial. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. We would have liked an extra day to just enjoy the grounds and views.
Cons: I didn’t realize it would be a substantial uphill walk to town and the various tourist sites. As hikers, we opted to walk versus availing ourselves of Uber’s, buses, etc. and did 11 miles one of the days. But this might not be a convenient location for someone who is unable to do the walking. Casa do Valle sells tickets for the palace and castle which saves you from having to wait in ticket lines. But they didn’t seem to know about the senior rate which the specific sites offer. So we paid a bit more than we would have if we’d waited to purchase tickets at the sites. Just something to be aware of.
7.1 Good
Pros: Lovely views from our room and balcony - pool would have been nice to use but weather not good and it was not clean. Good to have kettle and fridge. Nice garden.
Cons: Not given best advice about things to see given weather and ended up wasting money on tickets as the weather got so bad we had to abandon our visit. Fridge was a little noisy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous landscaped gardens. Lovely views from the pool. Great restaurant recommendations. Wish we'd stayed another night!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The photo’s didn’t do it justice. The place was so beautiful. There was fresh fruit and herbs from the garden available every day. Loved it all!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: For us the location was ideal as a bit away from the hustle & bustle of the centre of Sintra with spectacular views. It's a bit of a hike up the hill to get to the historical centre but we didn't mind as downhill coming home after enjoying a wonderful meal plus a few drinks! Also super quiet at night so slept like babies. Lots of thoughtful touches to make guests comfortable such as fully equipped communal kitchen, drying rails for towels & clothes, baskets of fresh fruit from their gardens and water in rooms from font where you can also fill your own bottles.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location. Views stunning from Garden. Ability to make snacks / tea was great.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous setting and views. Lovely to have breakfast brought to the door and be able to eat it on the terrace right outside our room. Friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: Nothing to dislike about this lovely place
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From being met at the door we were greeted with so much information and recommendations for the surrounding areas - nothing was too much trouble

9.6 Excellent
Pros: cleanliness, helpfull staff, possible later check-in, breakfast, quiet place, large garden with hammocks
Cons: space- large bed and spacious cloth closets, but rather less room for suitcase, no table and chair
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Well planned out guest house that is very tastefully decorated. All areas were very clean and seemed to be very well maintained within the premise. Staff were friendly and helpful. Ample public areas both indoors and outside to explore and enjoy during your stay.
Cons: Although in a quiet location on the borders of the Sintra-Cascais National Park, the immediate land around the property is not as scenic and it is very near to a main road which can be noisy at times. Unfortunately, in one bedroom of our booked accommodation, there was a TV wall support but no TV which let down the appearance and ambiance of the accommodation which otherwise demonstrates such meticulous presentation and care.

Pros: Wonderful, charming hotel with courteous, hospitable staff!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast.
Cons: Bed a little lumpy.
6.7 Good
Pros: Very cute B&B, breakfast was very good and staff was excellent.
Cons: Location in center of town was not what we expected. Parking on the street was not free. Did not really have any parking, was offered a private area to park that was up the hill behind the hotel, but no access from parking to the hotel. Parking was not paved, looked like it was a dumping ground. The hotel has incredible amount of steps from the street to reach the hotel. We were on the first floor which meant two more flights of stairs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location with great view of the Moore Castle, nice rooms and very helpful staff who aided us with everything we needed. Very tasty breakfast. I highly recommend this hotel.
Cons: Nothing, everything was perfect

Cons: Coffee
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The patio, the staff being readily available, the breakfast included ,the ability to order a glass of wine on the patio, the amazing views from the patio, the quiet air conditioning and the proximity to all services.
Cons: Only one power point in the room - make sure you have a double adaptor and a double usb port if you have more than two devices that need charging. The steep steps up to the hotel, but the staff were very willing to carry our heavy cases up for us. No tea/coffee making facilities or fridge in the rooms ( but available in the lounge).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location , friendly staff and host was very helpful beautiful garden/patio
Cons: All was good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Sintra is a great area to stay. We regret that we did not stay an extra night or two. This hotel was in a perfect location for us, just a moderate walk to the old town - though parking was a bit of a challenge. The breakfast was wonderful, including the excellent coffee. Our room was a good size.
Cons: The parking is very limited, as the free, public lot is jammed with train commuters to Lisbon. Be careful with arriving and relying on your GPS. It sent us up a very steep narrow cobblestoned road, which in the rain had our car sliding backwards! Make sure you stay on main roads.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very close to train station: wonderful staff, very helpful: meticulously clean: all and more than I could ask for and Loved the terrace too.. highly recommend Hotel Nova
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The place is very good located, looks nice, great terrace. The two Best things were the breakfast which was perfect and the kind service. Rue was super kind and helpful. Also the bed is very comfortable.
Cons: Maybe it is the high season and maybe because it’s Sintra- but the price is high for the type of room we received, we were offered to upgrade for 30 euros but it was expensive as it is so we didn’t. The most basic room is just fine, not more. Small and small shower. Everything else but the small room was great.

Pros: Dry charming house and garden. Very inviting. Our hostess Maria lovely and Jovita extremely friendly and helpful. Very comfy beds, incredible breakfast and Nespresso coffee.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: A charming old grand house with lovely garden, sitting room, breakfast room, etc. Lovely period appointments. We had a full attic conversion space. Bed fit a bit tightly in the sleeping area, but was the most comfortable we’ve had in Portugal. Attentive, but unobtrusive resident manager and an exceptional breakfast in elegant space next to the garden. 2 block walk to Sintra’s central plaza.
Cons: Card Payment machine didn’t work, and we had to walk to the plaza for an atm. Otherwise fine.

Pros: The appartment was great, super comfy bed! At check-in we got a lot of great tips from Marcel, very helpful! Also stay there a few days, to get time to relax by the pool. There is a snack-bar but bring your own in you need something specific.
Cons: The breakfast was a bit late, if you wanted to get to a castle
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely people, great place to relax and enjoy life.
Cons: Room can be a little muffe, when weather conditions are humid.
7.1 Good
Pros: Great location for a 2 night stay in Sintra, with the property only a 10 minute drive into the main town, and also only around 10-15 minutes to the coast. The room was clean, comfortable with a nice bathroom. Pool area was lovely with a great view of the surrounding area and Pena Palace in the distance. The property can serve food during the daytime, in which the Mixed salad in particular stood out as being excellent.
Cons: We found our stay somewhat of a mixed bag. On our first morning at breakfast, we had to set our own table, as well as then asking someone to clear the table from the previous people who sat there. The staff on duty seemed flustered and not on top of breakfast service at all. Lots of breakfast items were missing, the omelette was too salty and the coffee empty. It’s not good when you have to keep asking staff to do things every few minutes. Breakfast on the whole should be of a better standard for the room rate. Our toilet bin was not emptied during our entire stay, despite asking the staff to do so, and then saying that they would sort. Pretty from considering you have to put your toilet paper in the bin and not the toilet. There is no information provided to say that your honesty bar bill or food ordered from the snack menu during your stay had to be settled in cash upon checkout. The lady seemed most put out that she had to get the card machine for me to pay the bill. This could be communicated to guests much clearer. I think this property could be fantastic with a few changes in their staff (especially during breakfast), as our whole stay here felt extremely mediocre.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, rural but not far to visit Sintra, the coast and Lisbon. Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff ( Sonia, Marcel and owner Tina). Lovely filling breakfast, beautiful quiches and cake☺️. Comfortable, well appointed room, quiet location and lovely weather helped.
Cons: Nothing. Everything was perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We just returned from family vacation in Portugal and stayed the last few nights at Quinta Verde. We had an amazing stay! The property and grounds were amazing! So beautifully manicured and maintained. Even though there were other guests on the property, it felt like we had the entire villa to ourselves at most times, very private but staff was attentive at the same time. Marcelo was amazing! He was super accommodating and communicative; full of useful tips about the surrounding area and went well above and beyond in hospitality. Tina and staff (Anna, etc.) were all lovely and made us all feel right at home. We definitely plan to return and stay again but will do so for a longer period of time.

Overview Reviews
Located in Sintra, Nice Way Sintra Hostel is within a 15-minute walk of Sintra National Palace and Quinta da Regaleira. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. A roundtrip airport shuttle is available for a surcharge.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lets go in points and then add a short story: 1. Amazing staff- as soon as you get inside the hostel for a checkin you feel like home. 2. Great Breakfast 3. AMAZING shared dinner - was only 12 Euros and it was so good, it got everyone together and broke the ice for many people, like myself. if you go there its a must if you ask me 4. Cool place - the place looks so cool and stylished, makes you feel like you are in some summer camp house or a vacation house 5. Great walking tours - each day they have a walking tour at 10am (ish) and they take you to the castles in a very cool hiking route and give you some history of the city and of the castles. I did it with David and it was amazing, even gave me new info about other castles i've been in the day before I took the walking tour. There are so many other points to add but i'll just write my story and maybe it will give you the picture of what is NiceWaySintra. I came there just to leave my luggage and got out of there with a huge smile and a ton of info about Sintra and activities there. The bedrooms and the place itself (and of course the beautiful garden) makes you feel like you are back to summer camp where everything is from wood and you just want to stay in the hostel to go back to the good memories. It was the first stop for me in Portugal and I was alone on this trip so it was a bit hard to talk with people, but the dinner just made everyone open up and we didnt want to go to sleep , not even at 4 am. We connected so much thanks to that dinner that I got to meet 1 girl from there 2 weeks later on Porto and 2 guys a week after in Lisbon. Something about the shared dinner really gets people to connect. So I think that if you are in Lisbon area and want to go out to nature for 2 days, You should definitely stay at NiceWaySintra. If I could I would go back to Sintra just to stay there for 2 more nights.
Cons: The showers are not perfect but good enough
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Loved the atmosphere, the outside is stunning as well as the inside. It's so cozy and lovely. The staff is super friendly and the people staying are all quite like-minded easy going people.
Cons: Just my mattress was too thin, but then later the staff helped me out with a better matress.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the fact that the bed had curtains. It makes it a more personal space. The social space (garden) was a perfect place for meeting new people!!! The shower was great! Many times I gave up taking a shower because I couldn't lock the door or just didn't have a door whatsoever! This one was complete luxury.
Cons: The toilet cubicles were bit uncomfortable. Funnily enough I kept hitting my head to the door every time I tried to squat. Regardless, it was super clean.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very cool hostel, awesome backyard and I really like hoe the large dorm is layed out, the bunks are comfortable and convenient.
Cons: Took a very long time to check in
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Perfect Location. Very enjoyable Garden Space. Colorful Living Room. Great People.
Cons: I know this is a Hostel..and i have not seen the dorm room, but our double room could have needed a bit more atmospheric cosiness :-) "Gemütlichkeit"
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I loved this hostel. The owner was very cool and extremely helpful. The garden and bar out the back is so cool and relaxing. The staff are all nice and its a very cool building in a nice quiet area. Its everything I like in a hostel.
Cons: Its a bit pricey but kinda worth it;)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Loved being so close to the gardens of Sintra and having our own garden to relax in. Comfy bed, friendly people made us feel welcome and at home.
Cons: Would have appreciated a bath plug in the bathroom, otherwise all good.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staffs are very helpful and friendly. The room has a balcony with perfect view.
Cons: Getting to the hostel has a downhill walk, not so easy to walk with a suitcase, even though the location is very good, it’s near the palace.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Style, decoration and amenities. Excellent service and food. International atmosphere
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The openess and kindness of team members . They are so nice.
Lawrence's Hotel - Sintra - Building

8.5 Excellent (658 reviews)
Overview Reviews

Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, multilingual staff, and luggage storage. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Amazing large room with balcony on 5th floor with view of forest. Very large, comfortable bed and pillows. nice bathroom. Staff helpful and pleasant. Elevator! Great location. Lovely, historic hotel nestled in a beautiful location. Highly recommend.
Cons: WiFi not always reliable in bedroom but worked great in sitting room.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We liked the historic feel and features of the hotel
Cons: We were allocated a room with disable en-suite. We should have been asked if we wanted or needed this, which we did not, or at least warned that we were being allocated this facility
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location, Location, Location only 200 metres from the Palace, located in the heart of the village it was absolutely perfect. The staff at the restaurant were wonderful and definitely worth having dinner there during any stay.
Cons: Having chosen the property partly based on the availability of parking it was concerning that there was none available when we checked in at 3pm. We were just lucky that a spot was free on the small street outside.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location is well situated, it is a short 5 minute walk to the town centre but do not be tempted by the many restaurants on the square as they are overpriced, crowded and disappointing. The views from the hotel windows are one of the redeeming features of this underwhelming and disappointing establishment.
Cons: Lawrence's Hotel claims to be the oldest hotel on the Iberian Peninsular and to be honest it shows. Our experience did not meet our expectations at all as we were hoping for a charming and historic spot in magical Sintra. However, we were met with taciturn staff upon check-in and promptly realised the air conditioning vent in the William Beckford room was antiquated and extremely loud. We made a complaint to the staff and were thankfully moved to their suite. Although the suite was much roomier the same problem was in this room as well: old, cranky air vents which operated and clanked all through the night even when seemingly turned off. The minibar was completely empty in both our rooms and the complementary water was from the tap and then bottled. The 'bar' area in Lawrence's is non-existent for guests and is shared with the visitors on the street so the only seating area is a small corner of the general thoroughfare, the bar also promptly closes at 7pm every evening as day-visitors to Sintra return to Lisbon (be aware that Sintra has no night-life and very few restaurants / bars worth visiting). The breakfast is not worth getting up for as the quality is quite poor, though the food in general in Sintra is overpriced and poor. We did not dine here in the evening due to the breakfast so would recommend Romaria de Baco or Tascantiga. We had arranged an airport shuttle at the time of booking which was confirmed by the hotel. Upon check out we asked them to confirm this booking which was for later on that day. Both staff seemed perplexed and had no record of the booking. After much frantic and unprofessional chatting between them and calling car services we decided to get an Uber for half the price and none of the hassle. We were thoroughly disappointed by Lawrence's and would not recommend staying here under any circumstances. The whole hotel feels dated, tired and poorly run.
7.9 Good
Pros: Breakfast was lovely on the patio.
Cons: We drove into Sintra from Lisbon. Very difficult to navigate around Sintra. Wished I knew that the hotel did not have any parking available. Also, the staff did not do a good job showing us around the hotel. Our first-floor room looked right outside the sidewalk restaurant. When I opened the window, it looked out over someone's table. We booked far in advance and should have been provided with a room in a better location in the hotel
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful building with historic connections
Cons: It was all good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a great location. Very quaint and the rooms were very nice!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Traditional and comfortable Excellent breakfast - breakfast table water excellent, helpful and considerate Wonderful setting
Cons: Noisy at night in the hotel We had a room on the reception floor and there seemed to be much activity in early hours
7.5 Good
Pros: LOCATION,LOCATION,LOCATION BUT VERY HARD TO FIND. THE TURN OFF ONTO THE CORRECT ROAD EASY TO MISS. UPGRADE TO SUITE NEEDED TO AVOID CLAUSTROPHOBIA. STAFF HELPFUL AND SPOKE ENGLISH. THE HOTEL HAS MANY LEVELS BUT HAS ELEVATOR. QUIET. COMFORTABLE. REALLY LIKED THE SUITE WITH SITTING ROOM.
Cons: OUR GPS DID NOT WORK. STREET SIGNS TO HOTEL OBSCURED BY MANY OTHER SIGNS SO LAWRENCES JUST ONE OF MANY. THE DOUBLE ROOM SMALLER THAN ON A CRUISE SHIP AND LESS WELL DESIGNED.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Location and the restaurant was excellent good food and wait staff
Cons: Bed was rock hard and the pillows were very bad on my neck, The hotel advertised parking available but they don’t have enough parking for all guests. You can’t prebook parking so that was a disaster, also no wifi access was provided.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff wonderful. Cozy bed. Great breakfast
Cons: The bathroom, particularly the shower, had lots of mold/mildew

Cons: Not much to say that is negative other than the bathroom is in the small side, although this is to be expected in this type of guesthouse.
6.3 Good
Pros: The surrounding of the Chalet is very nice, beautiful nature and impressive views. Beds comfortable.
Cons: Even we booked a economic room I was expecting something else. The bathroom was outside the room, not just in front but at the end of the corridor, what it is not very comfortable if you need to use it in the middle of the night. The breakfast was quite simple.

Cons: The room was colder than I would have liked

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Historic creaking beautiful home, good breakfast, good parking. Road by the chalet is 2 way so you can drive into town without having to drive past the palace. Easy to find. Parked and took Ubers to the Palace and Castle to avoid parking headaches.
Cons: No air conditioning or fan, smell of mildew in breakfast room. The single bed in the triple room was uncomfortably hard. FYI - our daughter was pickpocketed in Quinta da Regaleira so don't let your guard down in this beautiful town.

8.2 Excellent (2,403 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Stay in Sintra’s main square opposite the 15th century medieval National Palace when you choose the Tivoli Sintra Hotel. Perfectly located in this UNESCO-listed town, it puts you within easy reach of attractions including the Palace of Monserrate and the Pena Palace. Stunning views are one of the hotel’s big attractions. You can see the Moorish Castle – and even as far as the sea – from the lobby balcony. Many of the 77 rooms offer terraces and balconies from which you can admire views of the medieval village, the Sintra Valley and the castle. Rooms are also equipped with Nespresso machines, free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. Start your day right with the English and Continental buffet breakfast served in Monserrate Restaurant, featuring a feast of fruit, breads, cheeses and pastries. If you want to try Portuguese specialties, try dinner in the restaurant, where traditional favorites like codfish are on the menu, as well as international cuisine. You can round off the evening with a nightcap in the lobby bar. The Tivoli Sintra provides the perfect venue for meetings and special occasions in rooms offering mountain views.

Pros: Superb location, just few minutes walk into the centre of Sintra. Reception staff were very helpful and courteous. Loved our room which had a separate seating area for relaxing and taking in the stunning views of the valley. Being on the corner, we had with dual views, which was nice. Lots of choice for breakfast.
Cons: Missed have the facility to make a cup of tea in our room in the morning!
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Only view
Cons: Rooms are old, personal work badly, breakfast is very cold, small, the hotel is not four stars
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect, right in the centre of the old part of Sintra; loads of restaurants nearby, some better than others. The hotel itself is clean, functional and well-run.
Cons: Finding the hotel by car is a bit of a nightmare, and there are only about ten allocated parking spaces. So, if you aren't one of the lucky ones, it could be a ten-minute walk from wherever you're lucky enough to land up.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Breakfast was perfect, but unfortunately you will have to at least spend one night here before it is served.
Cons: Sintra is beautiful: please go there, it is worth the effort. Hotel Tivoli Sintra sadly is not, it is a mix of Fawlty Towers and Austin Powers. Unfortunately it does not combine the positive features of both comedies... The hotel is stuck in the '70s: thick carpets, woodpanelling, and an abundance of brass ornaments. The management at the reception is, besides terribly slow, not very communicative (except for the phrase: "Yes, yes, just moment please", which seems to loose meaning after hearing it constantly), has a Basil Fawlty friendliness ("You are complaining, go away", as used to the guest before me at check-in, who was referring to the rudeness of the management at the bar and restaurant), and has a slight uncomfortability around computers. The last one makes checking-in and -out, and daunty tasks as printing an invoice, quite a lengthy experience. Please note that if you succeed in avoiding the managers on duty, that the actual staff is absolutely friendly. However the management seems to be present in great quantities, slimming your chances on succeeding to do so. Should you consider booking, invest in panoramic view. Please note that city view actually means that you will have absolutely no view at all. You will face the big white wall encasing the Palacio Nacional (and sadly not the Palacio itself, nor any of the picturesque city). The only thing you will actually see is a fairly small parking lot; ironically it is virtually impossible to get to this hotel by car. The beautiful winding roads of Sintra are partly car free. The narrow hilly roads are not built for heavy traffic causing constant traffic jams, and in summer the city centre is even fully carfree during the day, making getting to the hotel by car go from extremely challenging to literally impossible.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was in the perfect location. Right near city center and everything was within walking distance. IE the train station and the tour buses that took us up into the mountains. The staff was great and super helpful
Cons: The room could use some updating but that was about it. The lobby, bar, restaurant was all very nice
7.9 Good
Pros: The location is great. The staff were helpful.
Cons: Nothing in particular. Maybe a bit dated, but it was generally ok.

Pros: Perfect position

Pros: We were in a room that looked like it had been recently refurbished - had a huge balcony and views of the city and some limited valley views. Male reception staff member very pleasant and helpfu.
Cons: Hot breakfast was pretty average with poor quality bacon and sausages stewing in bain-Marie’s. Some staff could have cleared the tables next to the windows so we could enjoy the view.

Cons: No air conditioning in hotel as it was October but was very hot and unbearable to sleep in hot room so we only stayed one night instead of the 2 nights we had booked.
