Great location.
Better bed
I don't recall reading that the rooms did not have air conditioning.
Do no recommend the shared bathroom situation
The location is excellent
-The noise level with the other rooms - can hear everything that happens with the next room -The shared toilet was not great. Everytime I used it, it smelled awful.
Location
Cannot control heater, no heater at night
Shared bathroom
Very quaint room, nice building
The front desk didn't inform us that some rooms use a shared shower and bathroom down the hall. To upgrade was an extra $50 for a room with a bathroom. A bit ridiculous already considering the price.
Very friendly, great location, great price, great rooms
nothing
The price was good for the location
Our room was very noisy, I think it may have been right next to an exhaust fan.
The hotel was clean and bed comfortable. Good location.
We booked a 2 rm suite - they gave us two rooms attached by a bathrm, tiny TV high on wall as in a hospital room! We took my mother in law for her bday and thought we'd have a couch etc - we had 2 plastic uncomfortable chair - 1 from ea rm - no amenities at all. Body lotion bottle already opened, 1 shampoo btle already used. The room didnt look anything like website - disappointing. No help from front desk on where to go to eat.
The location was great, right where we wanted to be.
I had called three hours to our arrival to confirm our reservation. They told me everything was fine. When I arrived they told me the three room suite I had reserved wasn't available. So they would have to give us 3 separate rooms on three different levels. Then one of the rooms that they gave us keys for, when we opened it, there was already people staying in the room, surprise for us and them. So after this we ended up with only two rooms on separate floors, with one of us having to sleep on a roll-away bed. They compensated us for only $30 which I think is not enough for all the trouble especially after calling to confirm before my arrival where they ensured me everything was ok.
the bed
noise from outside the building
The location - perfect. Rates were good in comparison to other hotels. This hotel is by no means luxury but for the price was clean with adequate fascilities
No wireless broadband it was ethernet based conmn (this was purely convienience). Some furniture needed replacing
it's near union square
water machine is broken
Herbert Hotel is a small but comfortable hotel. Its clean and located near the Powell tram station. The hotel is surprisingly clean and tidy. Not as noisy as we thought it would be as reviewed by others. Don't mind coming back to Herbert Hotel if we are coming to San Francisco again. Worth the price.
The ventilation of the hotel is not really good. As it is located in a Betty Boob Restaurant, the rooms smells of cooked food. so please do bring along some air freshner if you want.
Herbert's location is excellent. It is at the heart of downtown and very close Union Square.
You should not expect too much at this price.
The Hotel is in a very good location, just a little steps from the cable car station.
The Herbert Hotel is a historic property in San Francisco’s famous Union Square area. This means that travelers are tucked right into the heart of the city and within walking distance from remarkable shopping and dining areas. It is an ideal choice for those who want to enjoy lots of walking, cable car riding, and exploration, but it is also an ideal choice for business travelers since it is an easy commute to the CBD, as well.
