The location was excellent. The staff were friendly. The continental breakfast was fine. They were going for a "rustic' look in the hotel, which they accomplished. There was an elevator for this three story property.
One of the maids did nothing more than make the bed. It made me wonder how clean the dark tiled shower stall was, and how clean the dark wooden floors were. The leather furniture in the common areas was faded and cracked.
Nice location, just across the street from River walk and being in the center of the city. The hotel was clean and quiet in general. The staff very nice, courteous and helpful.
The only issue is the high noise coming from the street. Since it is an old building the windows are single-pane glass and although another layer of plexiglass was added on the inside, the noise still gets in easily. So, if you are not a light sleeper this place is fine for you. Alternatively, bring a god pair of earplugs to cancel the noise, which I luckily did.
Very close to the Riverwalk. The room had very strong airconditioning to cope with the heat, however the aircon was very noisy. I needed earplugs.
This place does NOT have parking. They list parking at the top of their facilities list but do NOT have any parking. You can't even pull up outside to drop your bags. You have to park a few blocks away in public parking and you will have to pay for that too. This little detail is hidden at the very bottom of your confirmation email, AFTER you've booked. When I asked about this, and why parking is listed as a facility of the property when it is clearly not, the staff member was very rude and blamed me for not knowing this near invisible information. Instead of apologising and calming the situation, she was highly defensive and inflammatory. She then insisted the parking info was on their website however when she looked it up was unable to find it and show me. Seems the info is so well hidden even the staff can't find it. I pointed out that I used booking.com and NOT their website so how was I supposed to know when their info on booking.com is completely misleading. Again, she was just defensive. A simple solution would've been to just apologise and tell me it will be rectified. But no... While the towels in my room appeared washed, when unfolded a lot of short fine black hair was scattered across the towels. I assume it fell there when being washed and/or folded but it was still very off-putting. Also, housekeeping do not knock or call out. In the old building the doors have to be manually locked from the inside when you're in your room. Housekeeping repeatedly would try my door handle without knocking or calling out. They did this so much I had to hang out my "Do not disturb" sign. Needlessly rude but very consistent with the standard of professionalism and care at this property. Great location doesn't make up for a lack of professionalism. There is a diary/journal in the room so you can leave a note about your experiences at the property. I didn't bother to write anything.
Nice boutique hotel, great location.
WiFi could have been better. Slow connection, if at all
The breakfast was minimal but great. They served fresh fruit everyone morning. Mostly bagels, hard boiled eggs, cereal, fresh juices and lovely coffee. Everything had personal touches to a fabulous old building. Location is perfect to walk anywhere. It is loud but the goes with the location. I had a wonderful time and enjoyed my stay at the Vista.
