10.0 Excellent
Pros: We needed to visit this part of the world for a sad occasion. Rollestone Manor seemed liked the perfect central place that we needed. It advertised breakfast included, and had a restaurant for lunch and evening meals. We required 2 nights and decided to take a chance. The Manor has a long history and is mentioned in the Doomsday Book. It has had various owners over the years and thoughtful renovations. This is an old building and you have to accept that there are squeaks. At first, from the outside it seemed anything but a Manor, but a very quant hotel. Once inside you just feel the history and the small hotel friendliness. Just one thing, you are told when booking that you must only arrive from 15:00 in order to book in. The traffic was kind to us and so arrived at 14:00. The same notice was on the door as well and we were not able to attract any attention. So we went exploring and returned later. We were made very welcome and escorted to our rooms and given a run down of the house rules. You have to book dinner, which we did, and after a drink at the bar, we were escorted to our table. The meal was fantastic! The food was hot, as well as the plates, and very delicious. Everything was perfectly cooked. The service was efficient and friendly. We had a few more drinks in the bar after the meal before retiring to our spacious bedroom and very comfortable bed. It is one if those places you just feel relaxed. Breakfast was included and was the real deal. Full cooked English, served piping hot and very tasty. I cannot really complain about any aspect and feel that Rollestone Manor is more than just a bed and breakfast. It really is a small boutique hotel and would definitely stay again.
Cons: There was nothing to dislike.

Pros: The best b+b stay ever! Steve and Wenda could not have been more helpful and informative. The room was so lovely, large and comfortable with a view of the cathedral spire . Parking was arranged and to top it all the breakfast was superb. Location within 5 min walk of the centre and the cathedral and its associated attractions. 9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very neat and tidy property, welcoming and very helpful host, nice room, great breakfast, acceptable shower, free parking space available.
Cons: It's a bit far away from everything, but actually just 15 mins walk from the city center so no problem at all. The room has no soundproofing, but although the B&B was fully booked we didn't experience any inconvenience with noises.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Parking, close to city, friendly reception, good breakfast
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Quality with a capital 'Q'! Absolutely everything was amazing - in a really good way. Although the reviews were exceptionally outstanding, I couldn't quite believe it could all be so great. But it truly was. Cannot fault in any way. Although on the outskirts of Salisbury the walk into the centre was very easy and on a bus route if required so it wasn't a problem at all.
Cons: Nothing could have been better.

Cons: Room on the small side though it's so nice you don't mind
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room, very welcoming hostess, delicious breakfast with so much choice. It was wonderful! There was even an iron and ironing board in the room.
Cons: It was a little more expensive than we are accustomed to but that was the only thing! Couldn't fault it.

Cons: Duvet too thick and pillows really uncomfortable. Not a great sleep.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They have a guidebook in the room to help you with finding places to eat and visit.
Cons: The only flaw was that the water pressure in our shower was extremely low. Once we had the water at a temperature that you could get into the shower, the water was barely more than a trickle.

Pros: Breakfast was excellent! Was like a suite....excellent value for the money! Would recommend on that basis.
Cons: Nothing that pops into mind!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old inn
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: The staff was very friendly and made you feel welcome. Excellent food at the lower level pub. Great atmosphere and a unique experience on an English countryside setting
Cons: Not a thing.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Family room as we had the dog with us, excellent size. One single one double bed, with a pull-out mattress if required. The beds were the most comfortable hotel beds I’ve ever slept on. It was clean, and obviously newly decorated. Away off the main road, but definitely worth a Detour.
Cons: There was nobody to greet us when we arrived, which wasn’t a problem. Just didn’t really know what to do until we found a note pinnrd to a door with our name on it, then all became obvious. Maybe knowing in advance there would be no one there to meet us would’ve been useful. This is really the only negative comment I can make, but wasn’t really a problem.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A perfect stay, great food, lovely people. Will be back!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great English country house style hotel. Perfect to visit Wilton House as the gates are just across the road.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff very friendly. Typical English small hotel. Very homey, comfortable. Food was above average, not exceptional. Stairs are steep, no elevator, but staff offered to help with luggage. Better than you would typically expect in a small town small hotel. We would definitely stay there again. We stayed as a waypoint between Heathrow and Southampton, a day between arrival and departure on a cruise. Would recommend for that.
Cons: Nothing especially. Overall very pleasant stay.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff. Very comfortable smallish room, and great dinner. Popular restaurant but staff made sure we got a table! Nice quiet surroundings. Felt welcome.
Cons: All good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was excellent and they coped with my coeliac needs at very short notice. We were staying at very short notice because of family bereavement and they were kind, understanding and unobtrusive
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Close to Stonehenge with a bar downstairs. Fabulously decorated with a rich history and comfortable lived in atmosphere. Dinner was excellent value and I can see why people would visit the restaurant even if they weren't staying at the hotel.
Cons: Be prepared to walk up three flights of stairs if they put you in Bachelor's Row or Maiden's Lane. Pulling out of the hotel can be a little nerve racking because of the the blind corner. Keys are attached to deer antlers so that might make it difficulty if you plan on going out.

8
9.1 Excellent (561 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Salisbury, The Chapter House is a 3-minute drive from Salisbury Cathedral and 5 minutes from Old Sarum. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, multilingual staff, and luggage storage.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Extreme amount of character, perfect for my companions' first night in England. With character comes no level floors, no straight angles, etc. Warm and cozy atmosphere, friendly staff. No on site parking, but that is the price one pays for a location across the street from an entrance to the grounds of my favorite cathedral in England.
Cons: You stay here for the convenience, charm, and character (the good restaurant is a bonus). Don't change anything.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Superb breakfast. Friendly staff. Great central location opposite Cathedral close.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was amazing stayed at least 5 times this was best room bed really big and comfy!
Cons: The breakfast was disappointing and did not match that of previous breakfasts.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent and beautiful decor. Very clean room and exceedingly kind and friendly staff.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous room and huge bathroom and roll top bath. Very romantic. More expensive but definitely worth it. Great breakfast. Staff on arrival and in bar professional and friendly.
Cons: Breakfast waitress not that friendly, we had to instigate conversation even saying good morning and smiling first.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The initial welcome at reception was warm and friendly. We were shown to our room; the room was cosy and chic. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom spotlessly clean with fluffy white towels. There was a TV and tea/coffee making facilities. We ate an evening meal in the restaurant - a varied and interesting menu and excellent selection of wines. The food was well presented and delicious. Waiting staff helpful and courteous. Breakfast offered a good selection of hot and cold food. Attentive staff offered coffee top-ups. Within walking distance of the cathedral and other interesting places.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was fabulous all around. It was a great experience and we’ll be returning one day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff very helpful, excellent central location.
Cons: Would have preferred an on-site carpark.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location, staff were very friendly
Cons: For elderly visitors the stair case is narrow and we were on the 3rd floor
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing is good - have maybe once been a charming pub with rooms upstairs.
Cons: Receive your guests friendly with respect. Our booking though booking.com - the hotel only had 1 room booked even I had a mail with a confirmation for 2 rooms. Water was dripping from the ceiling when it rained. Due maintenance of the rooms and restaurant, make fresh food etc etc…..
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Relaxing and very central for shopping.
Cons: NA
4.4 Okay
Pros: If you happen to be traveling to salisbury and want to tour the cathedral, you can't get a better location as it is right across from the entrance to the grounds. The staff were very friendly and competent, the rooms were well maintained and the bathrooms were spacious and very clean. But this inn is very old, the rooms are very tight, and it just isn't that comfortable. We did not feel there was adequate value for our rate of GBP100/night (jul09).
3.2 Mediocre
Pros: the quantness of the place, floors and walls sloping in all direction, which is not suprising for a building over 400 years old.
Cons: Very poor value for money, no services, reception closed @ 1800pm, no hotel lounge as such, only a bar/resteraunt.
7.2 Good
Pros: Clean and tidy with the only non-euclidean staircase in existence.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff and a great ability to fulfil all our needs! I booked the hotel initially for my wedding night! We ended up having our wedding reception there as well and was a fabulous day, food and service was great and couldnt ask for any better - Big thank you to the hotel!
Cons:
5.6 Okay
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant for both brekfast and dinner was excellent if a little expensive for the dinner.
Cons: No phones in the rooms. No room service. No shower caps in bathroom. It was a lovely hotel for a break but not for business use. I was hoping to recommend this hotel for business use but without the first 2 facilites above I am unable to do so.
4.8 Okay
Pros: Location. Staff made a real effort to be helpful.
Cons: No telephone in room. No explanation of use of 4 keys or how to lock room. Locked in the hotel when all staff went off for part of Sunday. The low service level does not reflect the high price. The operation seemed rahter amateur in terms of customer service.
7.2 Good
Pros: Altogether a very charming and unusual hotel. Very friendly staff and high attention to details.
Cons: The long walk from the Car Park - over 10mins walk with luggage. The cooked breakfast, although lovely, was a little small. And kept awake by talking on the first night until 2.30am and by another guest at 3am the next evening walking through and banging doors! Arghhhh!! But this did not put us off our stay, but think the price could be a little lower.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: location
Cons: The hotel was dirty, no air conditioning and expensive. The kettle was missing from the room and the curtains were held back with a safety pin which cut my finger!

Cons: Very noisy all night long, no wifi in our room, and no ensuite bathroom.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was just right. Great value for the money. Just what I was looking for. Breakfast was a great value for Salisbury & tasty. Room was suitable for my needs. Everything was clean, including the bathroom, which some reviewers criticised. I found no trace of mould or dirt. I would definitely stay here again.
Cons: Some might not like the stairs, but they weren’t a hindrance for us. You do check in and walk through the bar, so if this bothers you don’t book here. Not a problem for me.

Arrived late and we're still able to open the restaurant and serve a meal. Friendly chatty staff. Very good breakfast. I will definitely book again when in the area.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Simple but effective Motel just off main road (no noise impacts). Decent breakfast and very friendly and helpful staff. We did not try the dinner or bar as we were at a wedding nearby. Towels and shower better than many basic places.
Cons: All was fine.
7.5 Good

Cons: Broken seat
6.3 Good

Cons: Beds not very soft, room was dated, a bit expensive for what you get

Pros: Belly of Pork was delicious. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. Bar and fire were very welcoming
Cons: Could not fault this pub!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Delicious dinner and breakfast; comfortable bed; friendly and thoughtful staff. And of course the lovely old building and setting.
Cons: Very small niggle - but have a look at the curtains in Room 5: some of the hooks need to be put back over the rail. Sorry I forgot to mention this when I checked out.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The building is lovely, the evening meal food was great yet breakfast a little disappointing when I had emailed ahead and notified them of dietary requirements.
Cons: My room look tired, no remote for the tv, light bulbs out in room, couldn’t find bathroom light switch, toilet broken, bathroom light fittings broken, really nosy heater/air con unit.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The standard of the room was very good. Size of the room and bathroom was very good. Bed linen was good quality and comfortable bed.
Cons: Needs a little maintenance as showing signs of being at the end of the season. Although allows pets being charged £20 seems a little high. The carpet was stained in quite a few places.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Charming location; beautifully appointed; courteous and helpful staff.the
Cons: This is a very minor niggle really, but I have stated it before without achieving anything. It is this: in the early evening there is no one at the Reception desk: there is no bell to summon anyone, and the word ‘Reception’ painted above an arch further into the building sends visitors off in the wrong direction! I hailed a member of the bar staff from a distance, without result, so eventually had to abandon my luggage and go in search! All that is needed is some paint and a small bell!
6.3 Good
Pros: Good location, pleasant ambience, comfortable bed, and excellent breakfast.
Cons: Room and bathroom in need of repairs/refurbishment.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Overall the Lamb was very clean. The staff were accommodating and the food was very nice. Comfortable beds too.

Pros: breakfast was well supplied, plenty of savouries and sweet items. good volume of coffee fruit juice and milk.
Cons: the bed was too comfortable so I missed the end of the film. Seriously the only item that could have been better was the size of the basin. it was more cloakroom than bathroom making shaving more of a challenge. there was plenty of hot water and I could have easily shaved in the shower.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The friendly nature of both Jeff & Carol was comforting and helpful in every way. The bed was comfortable, the room was warm and cozy.
Cons: I wish we had more time there

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was fine, we did not try the optional cooked but the continental was more than adequate and from what I saw those that tried the option should have been satisfied. The location was exceptional with an easy walk into Salisbury and to top it off the wife has at last seen a Kingfisher flying down the river.
Cons: I felt the margins on the wine prices could have been reduced but maybe that's because I come from Dartmoor and am very poor!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The bar and the grass area next to the River. Ideal and relaxing place for a drink and a meal. Nice big spacious rooms.
Cons: Nil
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was exactly what we expected. Good range of cereals, fruit and preserves. Coffee, tea and toast were DIY and rather slow - causing a queue. This was the only and slight criticism.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully decorated hotel and rooms! Hotel has its own free parking. No problems with late check in, friendly staff. Restaurant's kitchen is open till 9.30 pm, we were just able to order dinner before that time. Even room service is offered at this hotel. Nespresso coffee machine in the room! All things you would need to use like iron, ironing board and a hair dryer are stored in your cupboard. Charming period features, very comfy bed and lovely bathroom.
Cons: It was quite hot in the room. Hot breakfast could have been included in the price as well, although the cold buffet was good as well.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The bath and shower were great. Also the bed was very comfortable and large. Nice old room within the original coach house. Also very close to the centre of Salisbury. A nice stroll across the river into the centre.
Cons: As the room is within the main pub building it was a little noisy and could hear the pipes start to churn in the morning. This is probably as I'm a light sleeper when away from home.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was fine, with standard options. Tight arrangement of food items in a narrow passageway meant people were randomly bumping into others and to the furniture, although once seated, the view was pleasant. The location of the accommodations is excellent, with a five-to ten-minute walk to Salisbury Cathedral and just beyond that, the town itself. View from the room was charming.
Cons: The worst element of the stay was an incredibly lumpy mattress. The mattress cover was so thin and worn that every upholstery tie was felt throughout the night. Since we stayed two nights, we petitioned at the front desk for a thicker cover, which was put on while we were out that day. The second night's sleep was hugely improved--but that said, the worn-out cover should have been replaced by the housekeeping staff well before our arrival, as it was evident that others must have felt those same dozens of little lumps for quite some time. The desk clerk was slightly dismissive of our complaint, but given that we tested five accommodations around southern England over ten nights, we were not strangers to the level of anticipated comfort in a bed at that price level. A note of caution: use of the tub/shower would have been extremely difficult for older persons or anyone with a disability given the need to climb and the intense level of the water pressure. If you are in that category, you will want to be sure to make advance arrangements with the staff. NOTE: breakfast is self served here. In the breakfast room, the queue for getting coffee and tea was unusually long, with people waiting to use a single machine for eight or nine options rather than simply having standard coffee & teas available. Final observation: the entire promotional theme throughout the accommodations (lobby, hallways, rooms) was WEDDING. During our October visit, the majority of visitors were middle-aged & senior travelers, not wedding opportunists. The emphasis on weddings was a bit overwhelmingly pink and cake-ish, with the same smiling bride (or model) grinning at us from many locations.
7.0 Good
Pros: I have stayed before but room 9 was noisy next to tladies toilet and near a function room which eas a wedding reception till late saturday and another function sunday afternoon .
Cons: I had gone to the trouble of ringing the hotel and asking for a nice room as it was a special occasion. When I came to pay and mentioned IT WAS TOLD YOU Should HAVE BOOKED DIRECT booking . com .lower prices are for lesser rooms .
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was absolutely great, starting with the receptionist(Ms Nico , i think), ending with the room which was cosy and warm ...Too bad I stayed only for one night!
Cons: Hotels really need to buy a toilet brush for every room they are renting!
10.0 Excellent

5.4 Okay
Pros: The staff was exceptionally helpful. The bed was very comfortable.
Cons: The rugs were stained, the food was unappetizing, the mismatched old furniture was chipped, the upholstery was faded, the ally ways were strewn with debris and some of the artwork was actually ripped.
6.3 Good

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything in the room worked properly and was in the right place.
Cons: Car park was a bit tight for parking. But it was ok.
7.5 Good
Pros: Friendly staff, nice room and bed and good city center location.
Cons: We went to breakfast at 0930 and it was very old and dry and extremely poor value for the money I paid, in a normal restaurant I would have refused to pay. The sink in our room did not hold the water. The room was noisy (87) due to staff or other people gathering in the courtyard below our room plus there was an extractor from the kitchen (I presume) that came on early in the morning. Having said that my wife and I enjoyed our night in Salisbury and may stay with you again, depending on your response?
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Loved the olde world feel and character of the property
7.1 Good
Pros: Location was great. Room was a little small but comfy bed. Very noisy during the night from people being outside.
2.0 Mediocre
Cons: The rooms were not as advertised - much poorer condition and far from adequate. The walls have no sound proofing you can hear the occupants of the next room having sex and you can hear the TV playing clearly in the other room. Bathroom was old and dirty and the view from the room was of a dirty rooftop of the other side of the building. Overall a dreadful experience.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Location is great, and the buildings amazing--all ivy and period charm. Hard to do better.
Cons: Bedrooms vary a bit. Some are great, others a little small.

Pros: Being in the centre of town, room was tidy and biscuits on offer with you tea and coffee. Good amazing of plugs, keeps up with the amazing of technology you need. A traditional Key to your room was much better.
Cons: TV with no remote and no one on the desk or answering phone to help. Shower leaked and flooded the floor, also bathroom door didn’t shut fully and set the fire alarm off.

Pros: Towel warmer
Cons: Bed was quite firm so not very comfortable; much noise from traffic in the street, tiny bathroom.

Cons: The shower was hopeless
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Charming old hotel, great location. Alex, the evening waiter, was friendly and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Bathroom was very clean.
Cons: Could use better, brighter lighting in room and more plugs. I had unfortunately tracked in some dirt the evening before, which didn't get vacuumed up the next morning. The water pressure was a little weak in the shower.
