People, process, vehicle all ok. Cost is simply not worth it.

The Budget/Avis counter at Reno, NV was swamped when I went to pick up my car. The problem was they didn't have enough cars ready to go, so I had to stand in line and wait for about 45 minutes to get a car (not so easy for this 69-year-old). The car I reserved was a small, economical compact car, but the car I got was a large, Buick SUV! While I did appreciate that SUV driving over the Sierra Mtns to San Franciso and around that town the next day, but It did not get the gas mileage I was expecting (good, but not what I expected). So it cost me a good bit more for gasoline to refill the tank (~$6.19/gallon, ~16.6 gals, so around $108). No exactly happy with the experience this time.

Car was trashed. Not clean, damage to the car that was done prior to me and wasn’t fixed

Eventually getting a new vehicle was the only thing I liked. This was by far the worst rental car we have ever had. The sticker in the upper left hand side on the windshield said the cars next oil change was due at 23,000 miles. There were over 40,000 miles on the car. The car wouldn’t engage into reverse right away. My father had the car in reverse, took his foot off the break and it rolled forward. The transmission shifted roughly. The car got stuck in literally an inch of snow. To get the car to move we had to drive with the traction control off (not ideal nor safe). It snowed again, and the car was terrible. Our whole trip out to the Reno/Lake Tahoe area was for skiing. I looked at the tires on the vehicle, both back tires (passenger side definitely worse) we’re both smooth as a baby’s bottom. The back passenger side tire literally had multiple holes in it, one of which the cords and threads of the tire were showing. I called budget and told them this, to which they responded they didn’t have any other vehicles. How is a rental car company content with sending vehicles in that condition out? And hearing from customers the unsafe conditions of the vehicle and basically just telling them tough luck? That baffled me. We easily could’ve gotten into an accident driving in the snowy conditions with bald tires, or easily had a blowout on the high way with the cord showing/hole in one of the tires. I was not content with being told tough luck, so I continued calling budget until someone was able to give us another car. I believe the girl I spoke to was Alyssa in the roadside assistance department. She was accommodating and told me she spoke to a manager at the Reno/Tahoe airport and they had a comparable car ready waiting for my father and I and to just go to the budget desk and say we spoke to her. We drove to the airport and we’re told by the workers they had no idea what I was talking about and had “no cars available” but they gave us another car. Overall I’m extremely dissatisfied with my experience with budget.

Waited over an hour and the single budget agent was not gaining as perfered customers jumped in front. Got online and reserved a truck at Enterprise and was checked out in 5 min. That’s my experience with Budget. Sidney Strauss

Budget had screwed up my check in information then tried to increase my price because they could not retrieve my original contract 300 dollars higher than my kayak quoted price I said something and was treated like I was doing something wrong had to be stern with them that this was not the contract price. Then they tried to give the the price of their insurance which was once again not the contract price.i said something to the counter worker and she said she couldn't handle me as a customer because everything she was doing wasn't to my satisfaction. when they lost my info tried to up charge and make a new contract. When I finally got a supervisor she was able to listen understand how to fix it and then finally gave me the price of my original contract. The really bad part is that manager stood right next to the counter worker never provided accurate help to the counter worker when asked and only seemed like she finally did her job because I had hard copies of my contract with me! And this took over an hour to check in and get my car then the gentleman giving out the keys wanted to talk story about his life more than I cared for and was delaying my vacation more!

Liked that Budget actually had minivans available. Did not like that one seat did not slide/fold correctly, making using that sliding door side troublesome for unloading the back seat.

I paid for a much smaller car than I reserved and so I had to change our whole family itinerary since I could not fit my family members in the car. They had to take Uber everywhere to meet up with us. It was a complete waste of time.

The agent at the counter in Reno, Adrianna, was excellent. However it took an hour for them to bring the car to us and the staff were not wearing masks, which makes me question the cleaning between customers and if the car was cleaned at all. The car itself was awful!, every time we got in it, it smelled like gasoline. The odor was unbearable, however we were not nearby to exchange it, so after 30mintues of the windows open the smell would go away. I will NOT rent from Budget again, the price was absurdly high and the car was awful.
