there was nothing good I felt cheated and will never recommend or use you again. I have planned a vacation from home and come to pick up a car that is booked and confirmed. only to be told that there is no car and that they could not contact me. they were completely indifferent to the terrible situation I was suddenly in with my family. the only thing they could do was refer me to their colleague who was sitting right next to here i could rent a car but for 3x more in price than what i had booked. feel this is a total humbookthey should not be allowed to rent cars at all when they cheat that way

Nothing. There is no one thing which I likes.They ripped me off. Overcharged. Used our poor language, threatened us, made us sign paper without explanation under pressure. They said ALL THIS HAS TO BE ON CONTRACT. BY later in their email they said it wasn't necessary. We pay over $600 more. The Allianz insurance wasn't legit for their policy.

Sixt tricked US info buying effectively mandatory insurance, which totalled 3x the original price. 400$ instead od 120$. Super-bad, would never recommend or use again.

worst rental evernothingwaited in line for an hour to check out the vehicle, One customer rep. to help with one person in front of me. At check out the rental agreement was in Spanish, they blindside you with an $1100 hold on your card, force you to take the insurance. The vehicle had no shocks or struts, you felt every bump. The trunk had leaks were all my luggage was wet. I'm writing to the company sixt for poor service and to bee compensated.

They didn't take the insurance.Nothing.I booked a car through priceline and using kayak. I booked the car and on the very same page priceline/kayak asks if I want insurance. I did and so I paid for it. When I got to the rental company, they told me that they didn't take the insurance and that I had to go through them. I asked how much it was and it was $100 dollars with a $1000 deposit. Yes, a thousand dollars. I cancelled the reservation there and just went to a resort instead.

Very high mileage vehicle for rental. The cars tires were low on air pressure and could be a road hazard. Cars should be properly maintained.

Nice car with no problems at pickup. I rated it poor because the drop off location is VERY CONFUSING. The drop off is at the terminal A area not the terminal B as indicated on GPS. Watch the insurance requirements.. they hold $800 if you don’t take their insurance for over $300.

Best deal in Punta CanaWas cheapest deal at the airport rentals. Would rent again hereThe car battery died if you turned the lights on without the engine running, for 5 minutes. Literally 5 minutes to a dead battery. Had to have it jump-started twice and wish we would have been warned about that.

There is not much I liked. Very disappointedIt was hard to communicate with the sales reps. We were told we had to carry the insurance even though a credit card covered it or we wouldn't have ended up with a vehicle. And the total price ended up being nearly twice the amount we were quoted.

Beware!!! Even if your insurance, or your credit card says you are covered for CDW in the DR, they will force you on arrival to buy CDW from thrifty DR. They claimed it was Thrifty policy. It cost almost as much as the original rental price. Beware!!

BEWARE. Reservations do not matterReservation made sept 2016 for the ONLY vacation I get all year at Christmas. Confirmed six times - even before leaving LAX! Arrived and was told "sorry lady we have no cars". Without all the horrible details here's a f ew: - 3.5 hours begging/crying at counter they did not care although my reservation was acknowledged. - Christmas day, traveling solo and disabled, they did not care. - Supervisor got on phone, he did not care. - I had nowhere to go and NO transportation. - 3.5 hours later "we found a car it will be $800" THIEVES AND LIARS. I witnessed FIVE other renters on either side of the Thrifty rental counter told the same thing.Learned from MANY locals, "they do it all the time". - my reservation was for 16 days $300. I would NEVER give that country one dime out of my own pocket although the USA has given them HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of dollars to rebuild. Their culture is deplorable. They need to be delivered from the rampant "deception with a smile."

Bad Car experienceNOTHINGI have rented cars for a little over 10 years now and this was the worst car experience. I rented a car in Punta cana for 13 days and when I got there around 2 pm when I go to pick my car up there wasn't any available. Not even that, before I left for my trip I confirmed it and they told me my car was available. Don't know how that works?? And to end the story short they triple the price? Worst car rental in the caribbean!!!! DONT RENT THRIFTY IN PUNTA CANA.

Horrible service ... no respect for my reserveThey overbook and dies not have a car for me , the supervisor said that my reservation was "expired" becaude i arrive 2 hours late. They try to look for an indepent car rental that charge me 700 usd, when i book for 250 usd. Horrible experience

The car served us adiquately for the week.The car drove nice, but was a stiff ride in the back seat for two adults. We were able to get four adult and 6+ bags. The air conditioning worked well. It had enough power to manuver when needed.The Hyundai Accent is a small "Full size" car. Very short leg space in the back seat. The outside of the car was clean enough, but the inside of the windshield was very bad. Refracted the sunlight to the point we had to stop and find water and towels to scrub the inside clean. I expected the required liablity insurance to be extra, but the required ups and extras almost doubled the original quoted cost. I was very nervious driving, fearing someone might hit me and we were warned of the consequences.

Not American Standards and Extra Charges - Punta CCar was fairly new and clean. Upon return rep drove us to our terminal in the car and helped us manage our luggage.There were surprise extra charges and they insisted on putting a $1500 hold on my credit card because I declined their insurance. The car was smaller than what I reserved and there were no other options so we squeezed in and didn't have a very safe situation. There were several stickers partially removed from the windshield that obstructed the view.

Interrent make their money from flogging you insurance. We bought a compact car for a week for $170 which was definitely too good to be true! The extra insurances they insisted you have cost an extra $190. And in addition the paperwork we received to start included a deposit of $170 which was reasonable, less so the deposit the pick up site demanded, of $800! The no-show up fee of $50 will be challenged but with the cabs to and from the hotel, was still cheaper than the extra insurances. Such a shame. Would not hire from interrent again.

Pickup and dropoff are dealt in the most inefficient time consuming way. Car was not ready at pickup time. counter agent did what she could to help but it took over an hour an a half to get vehicle. With insurance and deposit, cost of rental was excessive (time and ahalf the prie of the rental rate) Returning vehicle took 20 minutes. Rental terminal has a laughably small parking lot that is supposed to be both for pickup and dropoff for 6 or 7 different companies so even getting in and out is a mess

When picking up the car, we were a few hours late for pick up. They said they already rented out the car and we would have to take an upgrade, the upgrade would cost almost three times what the original rental cost was. I declined and went into emergency planning mode of where we could stay for the night with out a rental car and then find one in the morning. Once they realized that we were not going to pay for an upgrade, suddenly a downgrade was available. Which though it was not what I wanted, was a suitable option. We agreed to it, she said it would be 1/2 hour to get it cleaned/car wash, we waited. Then when we went out to the car, turns out it was not a downgrade it was the exact car we had booked to begin with, also, it was dry to the bone, so I have a feeling they did not wash it and the option we booked had been available all the time. Over all, it should not be that hard to pick up the car you initially booked with out additional fees. Then when going out to the car I took a video as I always do for proof of condition, and there were a considerable number of dents and scratches, including a crack in the windshield and the knob to the stereo missing. I explicitly asked her to mark those as issues on the carbon copy inspection paper and recorded them, and I am happy I did as they tried to change me for both of those upon returning the car. Over all this experience further solidified my belief that car rental agencies are sharks that are trying to scam every dollar out of you that they can. It is sad to have to play games like this when on vacation just to pick up a car you have already paid for.

The customer service is poor. Rented a car and paid for it in advanced. At pick ip the car was already rented to someone else. Had to get a smaller car and then wanted to charge me for the same amount of a bigger car. Staff cant resolve anything. Does not give you a resolution. Very uncomfortable vacation with so much luggage and so many people. Non reliable

Good car doesn't make up for insurance scam and poor customer serviceWe had a Ford Explorer SUV that was able to fit our big group and was clean, drove perfectly, it would have been a 5 star review had there not been poor service with Europcar and the insurance scam they pulled on usI rented a SUV from Europcar through carrentals.com I purchased the insurance package through car rentals and when I go to Punta Cana they told me that for the SUV I cannot have the insurance I bought, I must purchase Europcar's insurance package. They also said that they DID NOT have it in writing as to where that actual company policy exists. They also did not have any paperwork that showed the different insurance packages. It seemed very sketchy and when I asked if there was a supervisor to speak to the guy said he was the supervisor. My rental went from being $375 to almost $700 with the little insurance scam. I emailed Europcar's customer service the day it happened, after my 7 day trip I still had not heard anything and still two weeks later have not heard from them.

Convenience, dropped it off at a different locationThe insurance we reserved was a joke. It was 10 dollars a day on the Kayak site only to find out when we got to the Hertz facility they wanted to charge more for insurance than the entire car rental price. We had 2 dents on the car that I told the hertz guy about. He saw them and agreed, but didn't add them to the damage sheet! So, at the other end, they are trying to charge us for dents that I have pictures of on my phone! The language barrier was a joke. If I have to pay for damage that was already on the car, I'll be coming back to Hertz for this.

Honesty upon returnWas quoted a price and when I picked up the car I was downgraded to an suv that was not close to a “Tahoe or similar vehicle”. Dropoff in Punta CanaThe checkout process was easy and fast. Our credit cards were charge the right amount.It would have been nice for them to offer dropoff service to the hotels so that we didn't have to call a taxi. However, the staff was great and drove us around the corner to the taxi stand.

Worst experience everLike how easy it was to dropped off.I was given one price online and at the counter I had additional charges that no one could assist me with. I had to paid an additional $60 for dropping it off at the same location I had reserved it for but was told that it was not included in the price of reservation, I was force to use their insurance for an additional $20 otherwise they would not release the car even though I had my own insurance.

Total charge 200% more than estimate on bookingnothingWaiting at the counter after a long flight to pick up the car and to be told that I have to pay so many extra including the Collision / LDW of $ 8.95 or $ 19.00 daily when I do have my own insurance. From an estimate booking of $ 556 I end up paying $ 1696.11. Never again I will be booking a car hire with a broker.

Terrible experienceNothingThey wouldn’t honor our reservation, claiming it wasn’t made there and that it was made another place further away from airport. Also , they said we got there late and we didn’t call. How can you call when your on the plane? Reservation was made for after 12 and we arrived at 2. Lastly they said we ran out of economy cars so all we have is an suv so that’ll be almost $1,000 instead of $360 original reservation. When we refused to rent like this we asked to use a phone to call a local friend. None of the rental call agents let us borrow a phone! They were trying to trap us there since we didn’t have cell service. Fortunately we called a friend using another customers cellphone and got out of there. Rented outside of that area the next day from someone local.

Didn’t Have Car For UsWe reserved two cars and when we arrived we called to confirm our reservations. They didn’t have either car for us. Our concierge confirmed that this is how EZ Rent a Car does business. You will show up and they will say they don’t have the car you reserved and instead try to rent you a more expensive car.

Horrible experienceWe got there and they told us they had no cars. And had not had any cars for days and wouldn't be getting any. They also said we could go find another car somewhere else but they couldn't help at all. And that they couldn't do anything about refunding anyone their money and people would have to send an email to wherever they booked and try to get one that way. There were people sitting there that had arrived before us and at least 10 more reservations that showed up after us to all be told the same thing. If they had known FOR DAYS they should have let us know. Make something happen to at least inform us when we traveled internationally with plans to pick up the car and drive 5 hours and needed the car for the next 11 days. Overall pretty terrible experience.

Felt like we were takenWe got a car. The car was comfortable and drove well.The company could not honor our reservation, telling us that they had no cars to give out. We were told that the company had over booked and that this was common practice during the holiday week. We were shocked again when, after 20 minutes of arguing with the clerk and then with the main office, and were still told there was nothing the company could do for us. Having run out of options, with a 5 hour drive to reach our accommodations, we offered to pay more if they got us a car. It was then that the clerk offered a car he had been saving for another client, but we ended up paying more than twice as much as the price we were given in our on-line confirmation, and it took an hour and a half to get the car.

Disgusting service from the staff st the counter, and did not have a single car available to rent. So instead of advising me that the rental could not be possible, I went all the way to the airport to be treated like an idiot. Also, the representative at the counter was trying to get me to pay twice the price with a competitor to try to do me a “favor”(as per his words). Very poor and will probably never use Kayak again.

We'vw been cheated, they didn't rent us any car.I would be capable to disband Kayak from the Internet.They promised us to bring the car in Bavaro although, in the very first day they invited us in Punta Cana Aiport. After we made more than 5 phone calls, on European roaming, calls consisting of: wait a second, wait a second, and we were discussing with many, many operators, calling us on Terminal A, afterwards on Terminal B, and again on A and B, we found out that they didn't even have the car we ordered. We had to pay 70 USD taxi, round trip and also 282 USD insurance for no car. It was a disaster that destroyed our holiday. It's a huge mistake to have them as your franchisors. They don't speak English, it's a huge waiting time, no car, and the services are a disaster!

Horrible rental companyNothingBait and switch on prices. My rental before arrival was around 270 dollars and at the airport it turned into 597 dollars. Apperantly they do not accept the rental insurance I have bought thru Kayak (which Kayak recommended) so I was forced to buy their insurance which turned out to be more than the rental itself. Horrible rental company and I am not happy with Kayak that offered me insurance. So pretty much I got screwed. Never again am I booking rentals thru a website.

Complete Scam Attempt at check in.Location - right in airport.Agent tried to triple my quote for the $11 insurance offered to me when booking. Claimed what I NEEDED was the $170 a day insurance and when I said I wasn't interested tried to keep negotiating down, eventually when down to $120, but still same thing I was offered for $11 a day at booking time. I declined during booking because I wanted to know if my insurance would cover, they don't outside the U.S, so I wanted to opt in for it there. Ended up not getting the rental, too much of a scam.

NothingThe staff at the Punta Cana airport were horrible. They didn’t wanted to give me a car just because I didn’t paid much for my reservation online they only had cars if I was willing to pay more than 250$ US. With my reservation they said they don’t have a car and I have been charged on my credit card

NothingIt is a total rip off. Our confirmation stated that we would not have to pay anything else. They added over $250 to the agreed total. We spoke to their customer service desk and got no where. The first day they gave us an economy car when we prepaid for a mid suv. NO credit there. Car was filthy.

Hidden feesIt's hard to explain, because I didn't really understand it myself. But I'll try: I book a car that was $101 for five days. When I got there the total price ended up being over $550.00. Apparently theres an insurance and other fees that are not mentioned when booking that is required to rent a car. They photo copy your ID, passport, and credit Card too. After it was all said and done. I choose not to rent the car and was charged a $50 no show fee.

Stolen by car companyNothingWhen I arrived at the counter, I was told I needed to pay an extra $400 of unknown security fees. My original rental was $140! When I said I didn’t want the car anymore, I was charged $50! Wtf

Be WarnedNothingGot to car rental counter only to be told that they had no cars available and none of the other car rental companies had cars. We had to get a taxi to our destination and 2 days later we were able to secure a car from Budget but at 5 times the cost of our initial reservation with Payless.

TERRIBLE - DO NOT BOOKArrived at airport and there were no cars. Attendant said she would call and deliver a car to the hotel next day. Still no car, called everyday and still no car until day 5 of trip and then offered a compact (not suitable for 4 adults and baggage) and asked to come to airport to collects. Lies, bad service, awful company. Also price listed is wrong - highly inflated insurance costs on pickup.
