Dunollie Hotel - Portree - Building
1
6.6 Good (1,618 reviews)
Overview Reviews
The Dunollie Hotel is set by the serene waterside of Broadford Bay, at the foot of the mountains that lead to the famous Cuillin Hills. With 84 en suite bedrooms, a bar and restaurant, it is perfectly placed to explore an area rich in history.
6.7 Good
Pros: Good sea view and lots of information available
Cons: The room down by the water was very damp. Our bed clothes smelt damp after sleeping there for one night. Staff didn’t seem to know what they were doing at breakfast; they had run out of bowls, eggs, coffee....... I got sick of asking
6.0 Good
Pros: The staff were pleasant and helpful. The main areas of the hotel were clean and comfortable. I had a room on the ground floor overlooking a courtyard, so not a lot of privacy, but it was quiet. The bed was comfortable and the room was small without being claustrophobic.
Cons: Incredibly cold in the bathroom. Like ridiculously cold. But there was a very efficient space heater in the room and it helped a lot to manage the temperature of the place. Also the shower didn't drain properly so I had to run the water in bursts to let the water level go down or there would've been a small flood. No major issues, jut minor inconveniences.
7.0 Good
Pros: Great view
Cons: When you book a double room I want a double bed not 2 single beds zipped together
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The night porter stayed there for me as I was later than booking in time. Lovely room, nice shower and location was amazing. I would come back again
Cons: The baked beans were cold and sausages were over cooked
6.7 Good
Pros: Ok Drinks too expensive Won’t stay again because of this All bus people using there own drink your losing money £7 glass of wine — very bad
Cons: All was ok
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Sea view, warm clean comfy room. Would stay again.
Cons: If busy not easy to park car
8.0 Excellent
Pros: checking in & out. Dinner. Bath
Cons: could hear snoring through wall & dog barking
Overview Reviews
On the Isle of Skye, Flodigarry Hotel and High Tide Restaurant offers accommodation in a country house sitting on a hill and offering sea views towards the Torridons and Scottish mainland. The hotel and 18th-century cottage are surrounded by ancient woodland and gardens on the Quiraing. Individually decorated, all rooms offer en-suite facilities and a TV. They are located in the main house or in Flora Macdonald’s cottage, just a few minutes’ walk away. Some rooms feature a four-poster bed. At the Flodigarry Hotel and High Tide Restaurant, guests will sample regional and seasonal produce and enjoy mountain and sea views by the log fire. Free WiFi is available throughout. Guests can enjoy a whole range of outdoors activities such as wildlife walks, guided mountain and geological rambles, fishing or boat trips or simply relax with a book by the log fire in the lounge.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Stunning views from tiny bedroom window with a bench beneath, breakfast room and hotel forecourt. Good standard breakfast. Attentive staff. Well heated room, cosy, well laid out, compact (we stayed in Flora McDonald's cottage loft extension, rather than the hotel building) - standing hight in the middle about 190cm, sloping ceiling both sides. Cosy bar with excellent service.
Cons: Personally, I would have preferred standard shower cubicle where one would be able to stand. Provided was a sit down bath with shower. Satellite TV with unacceptably poor reception on half of channels. Lounge mixing rustic and luxury furniture.
7.0 Good
Pros: The setting and reception staff
Cons: Mold in my tub, size of room, the food was acceptable but not at all at the level i expected for their going rate I would not stay there again
5.4 Okay
Pros: Beautiful location, good food.
Cons: Zero facilities, expensive menu, limited menu, average room for a very expensive price.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location! Had an excellent dinner, if somewhat expensive. Good breakfast and very friendly staff.
Cons: Not a lot.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great property!! Very nice food.
Cons: Service could have been a bit quicker.
6.7 Good
Pros: Lovely location, comfortable beds.
Cons: The restaurant was overpriced and the food a bit disappointing. The recent makeover of the hotel has sadly ruined its atmosphere which is a shame.

Cons: Clear top glass in bathroom window and no curtain or blind.
6.7 Good
Pros: Perfect location Bathroom in perfect conditions with bath and shower
Cons: Pretty noisy room Kitchen's staff serving themselves at the bar after their shift and the chef was pretty close to pickup a fight with a guest that had a few beers down.. Not really the best check-in experience: we didn't have the right number of beds prepared with no towels and pillows, no explanation on hotel's facilities and serving food times, an electronic sigarette was found behind a pillow on the couch.. Evening food service stopping at 9pm?!

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, good parking, good food, amazing viewpoint (if you get the weather), comfortable room

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel , restaurant and location ! Friendly stuff !
Cons: Nothing
5.8 Okay
Pros: It was clean and the breakfast was lovely.
Cons: Tile on bathroom floor was moving, rooms were cold. Small room for the price and hardly any room in en-suite, struggle to get the door closed because of how small toilet was. Room I booked was advertised as having a bath but there was only a shower which isn’t good for kids. Room was also sold as having a city and mountain view, there was neither. My view was of the police station and bus stop. The room was noisy because of the pub and the food menu was limited so had to get food at a chippy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a really lovely stay. Location was perfect for our adventures around Isle of Skye, burgers at the restaurant were the best we had!, the shower had great water pressure and the breakfast in the morning was perfect. Will definitely be staying here again - really loved it.
Cons: Didn’t think we could bring whole luggage up because our room was at least 4 flights of stairs up - but this is more fyi...we didn’t mind at all. We really loved this place.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room itself was lovely, the general location was super, Portree is very nice, evening meal on night one was delicious
Cons: Whilst the room we had, was lovely and did have new windows, because it overlooked the town square, there was both bus and taxi stands and it was above the bar so was quite noisy.
7.5 Good
Pros: The tomahawk steak was beautiful.
Cons: Room we were in was above the entrance to the bar. Could hear everyone chatting when they were going out for a cigarette and then again at closing time the noise was a bit too much as when the bar closed it seemed that the night continued under our window. Kept us awake and spoiled an otherwise good time.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Friendly, helpful staff; great food; clean rooms and common areas.
Cons: Beds were a wee bit firm for our tastes.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very Morden and stylish decorations
Cons: None
6.7 Good
Pros: The breakfast was very good and the location fine.
Cons: We would have liked a bit more colour in the room and either bedside tables or a shelf to put clocks, etc. on without having to jump out of bed to have a look at the time. The shower was a bit of a nuisance in that you got a hairwash whether you liked it or not. Now-a-days we are asked to use soap rather than plastic bottles so even a small bar of soap would be helpful.
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was lovely and restaurant was sold out for dinner! They gave us a nice recommendation for dinner options within walking distance of the hotel.
Cons: An elevator would have been helpful as stairs were narrow.

Pros: Location wonderful. Hostess just lovely. Very clean. With great tea and coffee station
Cons: If I was being super critical I would have liked a slightly bigger shower with better water pressure.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was comfortable and spacious, as was the bathroom. It was right next to lots of food options and the supermarket for getting supplies to head out on the road for the day.
Cons: There was a strong smell of incense or something like that in the property. That particular smell makes me feel ill, but we aired the room out and it was no bother

Complimentary tea and homemade cookies from the owner, Betty, were a very welcome surprise. Excellent breakfast, with a warm menu made to order and a selection of fruit, yoghurt etc as well. Heatherfield House B&B - Portree - Building
2
9.7 Excellent (328 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely everything. There were fresh-baked goods each day, a spacious shower and quite a large room (we had a king suite with a private bathroom and sea views). There is also free parking in front of the B&B, if you have a car. The breakfast is wonderful, and the hosts are attentive and so welcoming. Even though you're not in the town center of Portree, it's 5 mins down the road, and parking was easy for us to find (in the off-season, at least). There is no doubt we would stay here again.
Cons: Breakfast is early (7:30am - 8:30am), but it forced us to get up and explore, so hardly a con at all!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely wonderful place, kind friendly hosts, comfy room with a great bathroom. Has all the nice touches and breakfast had lots of choice and was yummy, a great cook lives here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I have been reading about how amazing the view is but I think words don't give it enough credit! Wonderful location, wonderful hosts! And the view is indeed breathtaking, perfect place to drink your coffee in the morning and just enjoy the peace!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts at Heatherfield House were absolutely wonderful. They welcomed us warmly and we quickly settled into the cozy room. We enjoyed the delicious breakfast buffet and made to order eggs each day. The property was located less than 10 minutes from Portree where we could find a handful of dinner options and shops. All the attractions in Skye where a short drive away. We loved coming back to relax by the fire in the lounge each day as well. I cannot speak highly enough about Heatherfield House and would love to stay here again.
Cons: Everything was pretty perfect. We arrived at night and would have had difficulty locating the property if it weren't for the signs that they had posted. No complaints.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. The room was super comfortable and very clean, the king bed was amazing. Breakfast is so complete, so much to choose from. There is nothing that the hosts wouldn't do to make your stay better
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was spotless and so spacious. Every detail was thought of, from Skye soap to a kitchenette with fridge for guests to make hot drinks. The beautiful lounge overlooked the harbour where we saw numerous birds, and an otter came for tea! With a stunning location, exceptional hosts and superb breakfast we give this 10 out of 10. Highly recommended.
Cons: There was nothing that could improve this wonderful place. It will be even better next year with a decking area for sitting outside.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view!!! Omg the view. This accommodation is in a perfect location and the owners couldn’t have been more friendly or accommodating. Breakfast was fantastic. Rooms are perfect and the view is worth a million dollars!
Cons: We loved everything.

Cons: A bit out of the way, but that adds to the charm

Pros: The hotel has been renovated not too long ago with very good taste. We had a large and comfortable room. Spacious bathroom with all amenities one would expect. Everything very clean. Although the hotel is on one of the roads leading out of town it was very quiet at night. Very friendly staff. Overall a very pleasant place to stay. A well-stocked bar and cozy restaurant are part of the establishment.
Cons: The loudspeakers in the bar and restaurant are mounted into the ceiling. So although the music is not turned up very high, you still hear it in the room. Some people may find this annoying. Luckily the music won't run all night. The restaurant is very cozy, but the food, though well prepared was a bit odd (e.g. mushrooms on tagliatelle with something that tasted like pureed beans as a sauce).

Pros: A well stocked bar and very good food, even if the menu was a little limited. But what's not to like.
Cons: The staff in this hotel from the Management down to the cleaners are friendly and helpful.

Cons: Loved it all

Cons: Rooms are not very quiet - could hear talking and music through walls between rooms and corridors - unfortunately not a great nights sleep.

Pros: Location
Cons: Room was uncomfortably hot, asked at reception, was told to turn heating off, which we already had. It was so stuffy and had to have window open in rain and wind all night, still stuffy Taps were dangerously hot too.

Cons: Room Cold ... heating ineffective at night , gave me a discount as result
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was very central, the staff were exceptional and the dinner and breakfast were very good. The hotel itself could do with a bit of a face lift, and a lift would be helpful! But overall it was very good, we would definitely stay there again. The view from the bedroom was certainly the best bit.
Cons: A lift, stairs, all four flights were hard work at our age!
