9.6 Excellent
Pros: Cozy rooms, lovely Hosts and good breakfast.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The place was very clean with a great shower, plenty of towels and hot water and a very comfortable bed, duvet and pillows. You definitely need a car to get here and obviously there is plenty of space to park. There is independent heating so the room is very comfortable indeed. The only things I would point out are that when the room next door is using the bathroom there is a very loud irritating buzz ( in room 3) which, in our case went on for a very long time in the evening and again at 7am. Secondly, and I think this is a common problem with b&bs, breakfast and check out are just too early. We are on holiday and really don't want to have to be up for breakfast by 8.45 ( which I didn't know) and out of the hotel by 10. We didn't wake up until 8.50 after being woken up by our neighbours' buzzing bathroom at 7am so we didn't even try to get up quickly and have breakfast because it would have meant rushing about too much. Missing breakfast was a bit of a pain and made the guesthouse less value for money than we planned. So if you like a lie in the mornings opt for hotels as they generally have a later check out and breakfast policy, for everyone else it's great!

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room was excellent, very comfortable bed, sitting area, spacious, a separate shower and bath in the bathroom. The evening meal was very good and the breakfast was everything you might wish for. The staff were courteous, professional and very friendly.
Cons: Nothing really. The enormous roll top bath could have done with a slip mat but I'm sure it would have been provided, had I asked.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely everything. Magical place!
Cons: That I could not stay longer!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The surroundings are gorgeous and it's in a very quiet place. The hotel is very charming, the rooms are beautifull and the lounge was probably the best, with roaring fire and a chess set. The dined in their restaurant, which was a treat and the service was great. It was my favorite hotel in Scotland!
Cons: We stayed in the "Mull" room and the only thing is that inside of the shower there was no little shelf to put the shower gel/shampoo, so had to put it on the ground. That's really not a big deal at all, but it's easy to fix and would make the room even better.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location and property. Delicious food. Felt like I had gone back in time but with the present day luxuries available so the best of both worlds.
Cons: Everything was great.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Again I want to praise the staff and their patience and being so helpful. What we also loved was how remote the hotel was. So quiet anf cozy, we loved the area. The restaurant serves great food for dinner and the breakfast choices were amazing as well. Can fully recommend this lovely hotel.
Cons: We booked two rooms, each with its own bathroom. Unfortunately on one bathroom there was no hot water. BUT, the staff was amazing and tried their best to help, even offering us another room, though we declined (we've only stayed one night and moving everything into another room would have been a hassle) and simply all showered in the other bathroom. When checking out we even got a discount and more apologies, though not needed.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location. Comfortable bed. Good sized room. Excellent bar and lounge.
Cons: Dining room lacks atmosphere and intimacy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The house is hidden away but along the Loch. Our room was spacious and comfortable with an old feel about it. Breakfast and dinner were excellent and staff were amazing. Thanks for the great stay.

Pros: Neil served an excellent continental breakfast including porridge. Really quite good with toast, yogurt, excellent coffee and tea selections.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous view looking out over the Loch!
Cons: I would recommend getting to the location in daylight - much easier to see the signs!
7.5 Good
Pros: Location although difficult to find could have done with larger signs.
Cons: Room was a bit on the small side. A continental breakfast is fine but there could have been a broader choice. A suggestion: to turn breakfast room into a sitting/breakfast room to give more space and justify the price.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice room, amazing vieuw, good tips from the host.
Cons: -
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The B&B is in a gorgeous location, and the room is very nicely and thoughtfully furnished and equipped to a high standard. The bathroom is modern and clean, and the view of the sea from the large bedroom window is to die for! We loved our stay here and would definitely book again. Highly recommended!
Cons: No complaints at all :)

Pros: Very friendly and helpful host, we were wet with riding in the rain, and he offered to dry my trousers, very decent. Room, breakfast and facilities, excellent.
Cons: A bit out of the way, but that adds to the charm

Pros: Everything. Our host Neil was very helpful with suggestions of places to visit. Room was very comfortable with a few extras such as fresh fruit, local ales and chocolate bars. The continental breakfast supplied was excellent and much more than we needed. The view from the huge picture window was stunning overlooking the loch and the property located a handy 5 miles from Portree which is a very busy town with many restaurants and bars, supermarkets and general shopping.

Cons: We were disappointed with the standard of the dinner although the breakfasts were great.
5.7 Okay
Pros: the countryside and nice view from my room.the staff was very helpful and very very polite.
Cons: I was not really impressed with the food. The portion was very small and for the price I was charged I think around £17 I felt a bit ripped off.I have been cooking in restaurants for over 10 year and I know people don`t mind to pay as long the food is good and the portions are reasonable.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very Morden and stylish decorations
Cons: None
6.7 Good
Pros: The breakfast was very good and the location fine.
Cons: We would have liked a bit more colour in the room and either bedside tables or a shelf to put clocks, etc. on without having to jump out of bed to have a look at the time. The shower was a bit of a nuisance in that you got a hairwash whether you liked it or not. Now-a-days we are asked to use soap rather than plastic bottles so even a small bar of soap would be helpful.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff helped me with booking the ferry to the mainland and suggested a fantastic restaurant. I’m grateful
Cons: It was greatly overpriced compared to other scottish places i stayed
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was lovely and restaurant was sold out for dinner! They gave us a nice recommendation for dinner options within walking distance of the hotel.
Cons: An elevator would have been helpful as stairs were narrow.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good location, breakfast and 3 star room.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Nice hotel, large room well equipped.
Cons: Staff not polite, I would rather say pretty pretty rude. Breakfast was totally below expectations. At 8:30 am (The hotel serves breakfast till 9:30) they already ran out of pastries, fruit, yogurt, ...!!!! Value for money: not worth, very poor!!

8.9 Excellent (66 reviews)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable bed and I loved the bathroom and general ambience of the hotel.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location, friendliness, cleanliness, breakfast!!
7.1 Good
Pros: Room was clean comfortab;e breakfast was good
Cons: Disappointed Three points Accuracy of information 1. Information I booked on was room with "view" - photos of property show views over Skye - other rooms probably do have views and the breakfast room did however the family room we booked did not- the view for me is not of a car park and if you were able to see the photographed view you would need to hang out the window and twist to the right which was not possible as the window had limited opening This room should NOT be advertised as with view. 2. The room overlooked the car park for guests with clear vision in for everyone and this limited privacy as the blind needed to be lowered in order to ensure this during the day and night. 3. Non availability of credit card facilities at this property should be identified as part of the on line booking - rather than notification by the property post the booking - travellers do no always have data access on the road or cash.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing breakfast! A lovely room very clean and bed extremely comfortable. The view towards the loch was fab a great location for travelling around Skye and mainland. Friendly hosts.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful, just a tad expensive (but everywhere else was WAY worse price wise).
7.9 Good
Pros: The view is lovely and the bed was very comfortable
Cons: There was a problem with the ceiling fan in our room and being unable to use it made it very hot and uncomfortable on the hottest day of the year so far.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean facilities, wonderful views over breakfast, breakfast was delicious. A great place to stay on the way up to do the North 500, while giving the chance of exploring Skye at the same time (which is just stunning!)

Overview Reviews
Located in Isle of Skye, Sligachan Hotel is within a 15-minute drive of Talisker Distillery and Portree Harbour. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
4.6 Okay
Pros: Service was very good.
Cons: They got old and refurbished rooms - we catched a really dated one (Nr. 16). Tiny as well.
7.9 Good
Pros: Rustic feel and great food
Cons: Parking
6.3 Good
Pros: Very good location. "Crossroads of the island" I believe. Found on the junction to either Portree or Dunvegan. The pub attached was good for dinner and drinks.
Cons: Very dated room. Looks like some rooms are modern and some are not. Whilst the pictures of the "old" rooms are accurate (and therefore I knew what I was booking) they just looked even more tired in reality. There is something of a character for this property but can have character with rooms that feel a bit more welcoming. Bed was also ridiculously uncomfortable unfortunately.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and efficient staff
Cons: Very expensive for what it is -
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a place Great staff and good clean accommodation in an amazing location
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The views are really amazing however our room was on the level of the parking so we had to keep curtains closed. Very comfy large bed. The dinner was absolutely excellent. The staff were extremely kind, extra credit to Emily (if we are not mistaken).
Cons: It’s is VERY expensive for what you get. The breakfast was the worst I’ve ever had. The eggs seemed powdered, fish just quickly heated and avocado old and brown. The room was quite noisy being next to the parking and you could hear everything from upstairs including night bathroom trips. Do yourself a favour, have a great dinner here and go to a B&B elsewhere... it will cost you half and you will enjoy your breakfast.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was fine but only white toast. Coffee was poor. Most of staff were helpful and friendly. Room was quiet but no view.
Cons: For £150 we expected more. The room was ‘tired’ and the window did not open. Lots of condensation therefore. The ‘extra large’ double bed was only a standard 4’ 6”. The evening menu was very limited and the quality of food was poor.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly hotel
Cons: All good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, friendly staff
5.8 Okay
Cons: An old hotel due for renovation. Incompatible with the price charged.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting, location and hotel. Fresh and beautifully presented. Food was good. Easy walk to town. Offered to take our bags to our room. Front desk less very efficient
Cons: Our room was through3 fire doors, upstairs and quite remote. No place to hang (or even place) toilet roll shower was tricky to operate
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A fabulous place to stay in Portree, excellent service, client focus tops, nice quality beds and bathrooms. Fine dining restaurant, just excellent.
7.4 Good
Pros: View at breakfast was amazing
Cons: Mattress was very uncomfortable
5.0 Okay
Pros: Great location.
Cons: The room was very small, the toilet had no toilet paper holder. No information given on how to use the heating system. When asked about the dining facilities the receptionist already assumed we are not going to eat here (based on or skin colour). If I am booking a place paying £177 for a night it should be luxurious which was not the case. The restaurant staff was welcoming as we dined in the restaurant regardless of there assumption.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, great rooms, food and view.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Cuillin Hills Hotel was beautiful and a wonderful location. Our room was beautiful, a good size with a wonderful view of the harbour. The staff were friendly and efficient. The cooked breakfast was good, the buffet was average.
Cons: The bed was a little firm. My main criticism was the pillows are like concrete. The cereal options were packet options. Muesli should be fresh with some nuts and the meat platter should include ham for a continental breakfast. I ordered poached eggs which were not soft. Toast came about five or ten minutes after the eggs/scottish breakfast was served. We ate dinner on both nights in the restaurant. I ordered the mussels which were very tender and delicious but the broth was extremely salty. My partner was going to order the mussels on the second night but after tasting the broth he decided against it. The carrot soup which we had for an entree on the second night had no flavour at all unfortunately, however our lamb was delicious, if needing some kind of sauce to make it not so dry. This is a beautiful, upmarket hotel. The breakfast doesn't measure up to the same standard as the rooms and common areas, and I get the feeling the chef doesn't taste the food before serving it, otherwise there wouldn't be the issues we encountered withe our meals.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We stayed here for a few nights for our wedding. Everything was perfect, the staff were really friendly and went out of their way to help with a lot of our special requests! The food both at breakfast and in the evening was tasty. There’s plenty of nice seating areas to sit and enjoy the amazing views over Portree harbour, with a coffee or something a little stronger. The room was spacious, clean and to a high standard. The bath and shower were great. It’s under a 15 minute walk into town and plenty of parking spaces.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very beautiful place with a stunning view.
Cons: Lot of very friendly people working there but unfortunately the breakfast didn't run well. It took about half an hour until something completely different as ordered reached our table.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A gem on the Isle of skye. When you arrive I know you will do the same as we did. Park the car take out your camera and take Pictures of what has to be the best vista in the UK. Stunning location and views. The Hotel is through the town of Portree on a small hill above the shores. It will well located for the Town being only a 10 min walk to the restaurants/shops. The Hotel is beautiful and well decorated throughout. It has 2x restaurants used for Dinner/Lunch and Breakfast. Our room was spacious and very tastefully decorated. The usual amenities were provided. We ate in twice and the food is excellent and not too pricey. There is ample parking. The hotel is set in large grounds and we would recommend a walk on the path near the shores. Again stunning views of the local area. Portree has the best shopping on the Island and is a good location to visit most on the attractions being max 45 mins for the furthest.
Cons: Nothing for us it was perfect.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful room, very spacious. View of the harbour and mountains was breathtaking!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The views from the property across to Portree etc were spectacular, even in the rain. The staff was truly superb, and even did a small load of laundry as we got soaked in the rain one day.
Cons: Learned not to order a hamburger in Scotland, but the rest of the food was excellent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing restaurant, bed was huge, soft and luxurious. Hotel was beautiful with stunning views of Portree, and a roaring cozy fire in the lounge. Staff were friendly, cheerful, and efficient. A gorgeous hotel, but not stuffy or pretentious.
Cons: Extractor fan in the bathroom was very loud, and would only turn off on a timer (20-30 mins after light was turned off). Not great when a middle of night bathroom break felt like we woke up a jet engine. For such a nice hotel, why is the fan so ridiculously loud? Also, walking back to the hotel at night, not one single lightpost up the long hill, so it is completely dark. Very spooky, and worried about tripping. Maybe install one lamp post?

Pros: Great location. Cottage was super Great place to recharge after wandering around Isle
Cons: Parking is hassle
5.0 Okay
Pros: The bedroom interior was really nice and new. Bathroom and shower were great. Breakfast was good and staff were lovely. Bar had a really nice atmosphere.
Cons: The location of the bedroom (room4) was on the back of the building with absolutely no view not even of a back car park. The window was only a few feet from a back footpath with a wall. The bedroom was so so hot that we both couldnt get a decent amount of sleep. We thoughts the reason was perhaps that the room was above the kitchen. We had no heating on during our stay so couldn't understand why. Tried to open windows but people using the footpath and steps could see into the bedroom. Not sure if we would stay here again unless we had a bedroom on the front of the building.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location was great and so was the staff. The beds were comfy and the family room was big enough for 3 adults. The rooms are nice and decor is understated. The breakfast was delicious and the restaurant was quite good. I would definitely stay here again!
Cons: My only complaints are that the shower had only lukewarm water and in cold Skye, a really hot shower would be nice! Also there is no lift. We weren’t bothered by using stairs but others could have difficulty.

Cons: Lack of parking is an issue but unavoidable

Pros: Nice view from our room, great location.
Cons: Tiny bathroom. Way too expensive.
6.2 Good
Pros: Great location
Cons: Very outdated hotel, no elevator/lift
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location is good.
Cons: On booking should be advised about the need to book restaurants prior to arrival if you intend to eat not only at the hotel but elsewhere in town. Location is good being in the town centre facing the harbour but this does of course bring the inevitable parking problem. Sadly the hotel has moved well past its prime .. it’s simply tired and this is reflected everywhere. The rooms themselves are very tired and in desperate need of refurbishment. The staff are friendly and helpful. However the general atmosphere of the rooms and the hotel in general is one of being worn out; if only the room looked as fresh as the ones on the web page.
7.0 Good
Cons: Stairs are a bit of a problem. Restaurant quality indifferent.
6.3 Good
Pros: The view from our room was a total delight. Buy beers and chips (crisps) from the supermarket and enjoy. Breakfast staff were friendly and very welcoming.
Cons: Housekeeping knocked at the door at 9am (checkout is 10:30am). Came back (via a knock and key) at 10am; and then a house-keeping bloke came in (via key) at 10:35am. I had been sick and was a little slow getting my gear together. Very uncomfortable experience.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location, clean, friendly staff
5.4 Okay
Pros: Convenient location.
Cons: The rooms didn’t look like the ones in their photos so it was disappointing given the price. The pillows were hard, foam ones that made sleeping difficult. I asked if they had any other pillows and they said no. The staff ranged from helpful to acting like we were bothering them if we asked a question. Had to park around the corner in a lot with a chain and combination lock that took some fiddling every time we came and went. Surely they could come up with a better system.
