Oslo hotels near Vår Frelsers gravlund

Pros: Location close to the Central station and many shopping malls. Personnel very effective

Pros: It’s a very lovely hotel in a great location. Staff very helpful and professional. Nice lite dinner and very good breakfast.

Pros: Super friendly staff, not only breakfast but a generous dinner included as well. Internet speed higher than our nbn in Australia (60 down and 90 up). I like their efforts to reduce waste, both with reminders in the restaurant to “Take what you want but eat what you take” and with large soap wall dispensers in the shower and next to the basin. Bed is super comfy. The hotel provided a Bose Bluetooth speaker to connect to. Room is adequately sized, shower is nice. Could not really fault this hotel.

Cons: The wine selection is rubbish and both wine and beer are very expensive for what they are, but that’s mostly Norway I think

Pros: One of the best options if you are headed to Oslo. Oslo Central station is just a stone's throw away and there are many bus and tram station surrounding the hotel. There is big shopping mall right in front of the hotel and there is also a restaurant next to the hotel. Place has a great ambience and designed to almost look like a palace with a great choice of painting and furnishings. Also, I have never stayed in a hotel that provides free evening meal, which is quite a spread. I would be very happy to return to this place if I am ever back in Oslo.

Pros: nice, convenient to everything, good breakfast and dinner, the dinners were good and unexpected.. TV channels were limited to Norwegian, no BBC or CNN..but good radio channels.

Pros: Great staff, great location in the very centre and close to the central station and all public transport! Great food as well! Everything was perfectly clean. Great that I could make tea in the room as well, since Oslo can be rather cold.

Cons: I asked for a quiet room as high up as possible when booking the room and upon arrival I asked if the room was quiet which was confirmed by the receptionist. However, the room was not at all quiet, it was almost on the corner of two big streets with trams and trucks running until late at night and from early morning onwards. Also, it was not high up but on the second floor (which is actually equivalent to the first floor as the ground floor is called first floor...). I am sure that this large hotel would have had much quieter rooms available as it did not at all look full when I was there. Regarding the fire alarm, it is right above your head when you lay down in the bed and its two bright red lights blink every couple of seconds which is really annoying. Never seen such an annoying fire alarm. You should really think about changing it for something less annoying. With regards to heating, the only one I found was a floor heating in the bathroom which was nice and worked really well when I was in the room. However, I had the feeling that it turned off when leaving the room and that there was no other heating that could be turned on when not there. It was fine for end September but I am not sure how this is solved during winter.

Pros: Hotel itself and our room was very nice! Very clean and good views from 28th floor. Also elevators were super fast so you didn't have to wait long to get up to your room. Very near to the centre. Excellent breakfast!!

Cons: We had little bit more exprectations for the sauna and pool area. Kind a wanted to enjoy it together with my boyfriend, but saunas were separately and no jacuzzy, only pool. A lot of kids were playing there, so perfect for kids to have fun. Otherwise everything else was nice :)

Pros: Location, comfort, breakfast, staff, everything is very nice, as always!

Cons: Only one coffee machine at breakfast, and it broke down at the time I was there, has to wait quite a bit to get my favorite coffee. I recommend an additional machine is there as a back u in just in case, as mornings breakfast is quite busy.

Pros: Fantastic location when you’re rolling suitcases from the train station!!

Cons: The hotel was very basic. We had stayed in a Thon hotel for two nights prior and this was much nicer. Breakfast had more choice and tv had more channels. The swimming pool is on a different floor to changing rooms so had to walk in a towel down some stairs. Outside lift was not working which my daughter wanted to use. Then found out lift was working but not for hotel guests.

Pros: Great design and amenities, helpful staff (especially front desk and restaurant), amazing food and taste of Norway in restaurant. Good leisure facilities. Surprise upgrade to a business room for being a return traveller. Fantastic location.

Cons: Housekeeping in the room. Found a little brown "surprise" in the toilet when first arrived and spotted some black residue coming off of the plug in the bath

Pros: Good location for getting about but not really a nice area .beggers,drugs and a slight feeling of insecurity in the area. Breakfast excellent and staff friendly and efficient.

Cons: It took 45 minutes to check in because the room we booked in January was apparently out of service. The receptionist then said we would need to pay an extra 200nok per night because the room was booked for 1 person not 2, we showed the booking.com confirmation email which showed that it was a double room for max. 2 people, the receptionist then spoke to her manager and confirmed that we would not news to pay anything extra. We double checked to make sure and she confirmed again there would be no extra charges. Then when we checked out after 4 nights there was an additional 649nok per night charge!!! I told the receptionist that they had confirmed at check in that there would be no charges and she wasnt interested. We had to leave to get a train to the airport so I told her we wouldn't be paying it and they've taken it from my card anyway.

Pros: King-sized bed, which was hard to find in Oslo, or Europe for that matter. Comfortable, quiet room. Helpful staff. Great breakfast.

Pros: The amazing buffet breakfast, I had breakfast at 9am and am still full by the end of the day. It's really value for money as its €16 and in the middle of the most expensive city in the world, Oslo! I really like the swimming pool and Sauna area. the hotel is easy to get to, a few stops from Oslo central station. The room is cosy, bed is soft and equipped with coffee making facilities incl a kettle. The safety deposit worked and was useful. The hotel is a few minutes walk away from the harbour. I really recommend this hotel. Yes it's a bit pricey but you pay extra for quality and comfort and you won't be disappointed. Oh and the bar on floor 21, it's good but i didn't find it particularly amazing. :)

Cons: just minor... but i kept e-mailing them about some issues i needed clarifiying.. but didn't get a reply

Pros: The staff was excellent - they helped me recover my kindle when I accidentally left it on the airport shuttle. They also helped me with directions and provided assistance in finding my way around Oslo. The breakfast buffet was very good as well.

Cons: Room temperature was a bit warm for my taste - the ac was apparently not on yet (early spring), so I could not make the room cooler.

Cons: We came late in the evening and it was hard to identify the way to get in. A more marked entry would be helpful. Restaurant food was expensive as we have found food in Norway to be generally.

Pros: The location was fantastic! The breakfast was varied and plentiful. The room was comfy and clean. There was a fridge and kettle. The pool was big and clean.

Cons: We arrived after being on the road for 10 hours with a confirmed reservation only to be told at 11:45pm that they had made a mistake and there weren't any rooms available for us. After charging full price to my AMEX, they never made an attempt to contact me via email or phone and tried to repeat that they would pay for a taxi to and from the other hotel property they had transferred the reservation to without my consent. I go online and see that that hotel was charging half the rate of the Vulcan. Frustrating and highly disappointed by the whole ordeal. Cherry on top: when we got to the other Scandic 20 min away, we were greeted by a bathroom what wasn't cleaned and there weren't house keeping staff around until morning. Wouldn't recommend such an unprofessional chain if you have a choice.
