The staff was amazing. Vincente was so gracious and helpful. The property was elegant as well as historical. Breakfast was wonderful and the individual courtyards were wonderful.
There was nothing that we would change.
Beautiful place have always wanted to stay here. The room was a little small and we could not open a window. We did enjoy the pool.
I really felt that a Hotel of this quality and price should have a great restaurant and a cool bar. The food here for Oaxaca is very middle of the road. Pricey place.
The building is stunning and the ambience was wonderfully serene. It transports you. The pool was a welcome bonus, especially on a hot day. The most delectable restaurants and sights are within walking distance. The entire town is encapsulated in time.
Our room was far too dark. The only window we had faced an outside wall, was on a corner and made the room feel sadly austere. We were celebrating our 15 year anniversary and we ended up with a two twin beds. We asked for 5 nights to be moved, but were not accommodated.
The hotel is stunning. The location is great - it feels like a slice of history. Breakfast is lovely, and the people doing the food service were lovely.
While we were traveling with two other couples, we were also there with our 6 year old son. We took a room with two queens, which turned out to be two large double beds - just slightly too small to sleep comfortably for a couple in one of the beds. But the room was big. There is a lovely pool, but the music is blaring all day long - sometimes the music is ok - sometimes it was annoying sometimes it was hard to hear. They had an event on a Friday, and the music from the event competed with the pool music. There were two events over the weekend, of which we had been unaware of when booking. On Saturday, we had to share the pool area all day with a wedding. ALL DAY! And they were blasting the music so loud from the afternoon until after 10, that it was unpleasant to sit at the pool. We specifically chose the hotel so we could take our child to the pool - and it was unfair to assume that people at the hotel should share the facilities with a wedding from mid day until bed time, especially with such unbarably loud music. The event should not be allowed to be so long, and the music was way way way too loud. Not fair for the price that we paid. I had been longing to stay in this hotel for decades - and while the physical hotel was charming, the place was run like an enormous Hilton. With the exception of the barman and the chamber maid, the service was impersonal. The atmosphere felt like staying at the airport, which is totally contradictory to the beauty of the hotel. With the exception of breakfast, I was surprised that the food wasn't better. The margaritas and guacamole tasted as though it had been stocked in the refrigerator for some time - not fresh. We ordered dinner a couple of nights at the pool which was sub par. The prices were reasonable, but food could be better! That being said, I cannot imagine staying in a more beautiful hotel - They need more attention to the comfort and wellbeing of the residents - a warmer welcome would be welcome!
