That place is falling apart. Rooms are run down, not clean...run the other way! They shouldn’t have any stars at all.
For the price, I was pretty sure it was going to be a hostel-type room, but it wasn't! While quite small, it was just what I needed.
The fire doors slamming.
Excellent location near Carnegie Hall and Central Park. Nice Italian bar and restaurant right next door. Metro stop just around the corner. It worked nicely for our short over-night stay.
Room was very small: we would not like having to spend time indoors. No lobby for lounging. Not a good place for an extended stay.
The light wouldn't stay on in bathroom, no remote, one bed up against wall so it's hard to get into. Basically clean. Pitiful breakfast.
Breakfast staff was not very friendly
It's all relative
My 7th floor room was not much bigger than the bed. Which was perfect - I'm not staying for some living room-sized place. It was clean, it was a block from Central Park and 5 min walk to the M line, and it was crazy affordable compared to typical Manhattan prices. And the front desk guy was pleasant and helpful. Definitely would stay again and recommended to a coworker.
Probably not a great choice if you have kids.
small room, noisy bed, but OK for a night
the location is good. We had room 414 which does not have a view to speak of, unless you like walls, but it was quiet. The a/c unit provided white noise, I guess. The room is just large enough to accommodate a full-sized bed and room to get around. There was a large walk-in closet in the room though for luggage storage. The bathroom is the size of a broom closet, but the shower worked and the toilet flushed - and it's a private bathroom. Real estate in Manhattan is super expensive, so the prices of hotel rooms are inflated - you'd probably pay a third of the price on this room elsewhere. But hey, you wouldn't be in New York freaking City. There is a room to store your belongings after checkout so you can explore the city for another day without hauling your luggage.
The mattress on the bed was rather plasticky and noisy - you hear every turn and movement. Bring earplugs. Don't expect anything luxurious. There's no hairdryer in the room. Perhaps at the front desk? We didn't ask.
I Will definitely book hotel again!
The price for the location was incredible! The room is bigger than the Hudson hotel. The bedding and carpet outdated but bathroom and TV were new. The staff were great and accommodating.
They have plastic pillows! There is a rubber coating on the pillows so when you move your head you hear a cracking sound. Very strange as I have never seen this before....
I arrived at the hotel and was told there was no reservation under my name, despite showing them the confimation email i received from Kayak. Also was told i could book a room, but the rate i was offered was much higher than the rate i was promised on the site.
I like to run and this is a block from the park. Other than that the location is not great because 58th is essentially an ally for 57th and 59th. This only a place to shower and sleep. Expect nothing more.
DO NOT STAY in room 207. It's right above a bar that stays open late. You might as well try to sleep in the bar. They moved me the second night to a room facing the back that was quiet.
