Pension Ringo-no Ki - Hakuba - Building
1
9.6 Excellent (316 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Yoshi and Kayo were fantastic! They were very attentive and made sure that our experience was first class. They were helpful in making a restaurant reservation, welcomed our friends who were visiting us from Tokyo, and made sure that we had a convenient bath time reserved for us every day.
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We loved our stay at Ringo-no ki. They are very welcoming. We could totally relax after a day snowboarding. Its a beautiful and warm pension they have. Just a short walk of echoland. A skibus stops right in front. I really recommend the breakfast! The best we have had in Japan.
Cons: A place for keeping your clothes would be nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very hospitable and friendly hosts - always felt warmly welcomed. Delicious dinners, remember to order in advance. Cozily furnished room, but could be a little warm in summer. There’s a fan to help move the air around.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Exceptional property, hosts and cleanliness. I would stay here again!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Yoshi, the owner is an amazing host! Rich breakfast and tasty dinner.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: So close ( approx 20 m walk) to the bus shuttles to the various ski resorts. The small private onsen was amazing after a big day skiing.
Cons: Probably not the place to hang around if you have a rest day as the owners use this time to clean etc.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Host was super lovely and helpful, always smiling. The onsen was lovely after a day up the mountain and the free buses to the ski fields are literally just across the road.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Ringo no ki was a wonderful place to spend two days while exploring Hakuba. It was within walking distance (10-15 minute) of many restaurants and cafes. The host was terrific. He was kind, welcoming, and they made delicious breakfast with fantastic coffee. I would definitely stay again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My husband and I stayed at Pension Ringo no Ki for 5 nights in February 2019 and it was absolutly fabulous. The lodge is pristine, comfortable, well located and far too cheap for how great it is. Yoshi and his wife are incredibly considerate and gracious hosts. We were picked up and dropped off from the bus terminals. Our rooms were cleaned daily, our toiletries were neatly arranged into cups, we were given chopsticks for the instant noodles we purchased. Those very thoughtful touches were much more than we would expect, even from a 5 star hotel!! We also had breakfast and dinner at the lodge once and they were delicious. Breakfast was coffee, yoghurt, home made break and jam and an egg baked with veges, totally gourmet style. Similarly, dinner was this amazing fish disk followed by beef and vege. Not japanese at all but fabulously cooked. We had such a wonderful stay here and would absolutely come back and reccomend to friends.
Cons: Nothing!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Yoshi and Kayo were wonderful hosts. Yoshi was particularly welcoming every time we would arrive back from our day's adventures. We really felt like we were getting to know a Japanese person when chatting to Yoshi. The Pension was very warm and welcoming. The nightly onsen was lovely (specially after a days hiking) and breakfast was delicious. We also had one night where Yoshi cooked us dinner and that was also delicious.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Amazing friendly staff/owners, delicious and filling breakfast, cute room and nice onsen
Cons: Could use conditioner and body lotion in onsen
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Good location, staff was knowledgable, spoke fluent English, allowed us to leave our luggage at the inn while we skiied and even drive us to the mountain. Included breakfast was tasty and plentiful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Family-owner was super friendly & helpful! Chef even cooked different breakfast for different days! Arigatou gazaimasu
Cons: Absolutely nothing more!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This was our first stop in Japan and what a wonderful start to our trip! Our hosts were just beautiful and so friendly and helpful. The traditional meals were delicious. We learnt a bit of Japanese language and culture. They set the bar high for the rest of our travels in Japan. Thank you so much for a wonderful week.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything; the location is very handy, delicious breakfast, the onsen was perfect after a day on the mountain and the staff were so friendly and helpful.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Immaculately run family owned business. Toshi was kind enough to give me a lift to nearby ski areas and dinner places and even allowed me to use the onsen after I had checked out. 10/10 would stay again.
Cons: Onsen may get a bit squeezy with more than 2-3 people.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were excellent, and a great stop before walking Mt Shirouma Dake.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent experience at this family run Ryokan. Very nice and friendly staff. The breakfast and dinner were of excellent quality. The onsen is also a highlight.
Cons: Everything was exceptional at this place.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Coming in from Nagano the bus station is just a short walk away. The ryokan is also just a 10 min walk to the gondola of Hakuba Happo-one, so extremely convenient for ski/snowboarding. There's a lot of rental shops nearby to pick-up your gear too. Staff is very friendly and exceptionally helpful. The rooms are what you'd expect, traditional Japanese ryokan decor. Clean and tidy, cozy, comfortable and well equipped. The onsen is incredible after a full day on the mountain. Not to mention breakfast was exceptional too!
Cons: I guess the only things that I could think of is that the temperature of the onsen was quite high, borderline painful. I didn't enjoy it as much as I'd like to be perfectly honest. There's a bit of noise with the air-con/heater in the room, even at the lowest setting. Wi-fi was so-so. There's also a short walk to the nearest convenient store and I thought there was not a lot of restaurants in the area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Felt like royalty staying in a perfect traditional tatami room on a futon under a fluffy doona as the snow fell gently which I watched after sliding aside the rice paper screen. The onsen was amazing and everyone was no fuss and welcoming. The traditional breakfast was varied and changed daily. Two minutes walk to bus terminal that is the info centre and pickup for activities. Cannot recommend enough.
Cons: Nothing! The whole experience made me consider changing my itinerary to stay longer.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very spacious and comfortable
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: They can pick you up at the kamishiro station
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is excellent, very close to Escal Plaza and ski lifts. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They picked us up at the Hakuba bus station and dropped us off too. As there was no nearby restaurants open at this time of the year, the owners drove us to the supermarket. The breakfast was very nutritious, varied and delicious. The holiday cabin is spacious, comfy, very clean and well equipped, the whole family enjoyed staying here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Love the vacation cabin home. I had family of 8. It fit all of us. Everything was in new condition.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s clean, they did housekeeping everyday. It’s so close to the Hakuba goryu resort. They offered discounted lift tickets and cheaper rentals. There’s this one small hiccup where I changed the number of ppl staying from 4 to 6 in the app but somehow it’s not reflected in the system (booking has to fix this!) and I didn’t notice. When I made a request to the owner to give us a ride (yeah many ppl commented that the owner could offer us a ride for free! :) ) from the train station, we found out the mismatch. But the owner nicely talked to me and took note of that. Upon our arrival, they came with two cars so that all our luggages could fit! It’s all these small lil actions that made our stay wonderful. Would definitely return!!
Cons: The choices of food around is quite limited but it didn’t bother me. They have a food menu where you could call for delivery!
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel is easy reachable by car. It had a private parking lot which we could use. The room was very big and the bathroom was new and had a nice bath. Hiking routes where easy accessible by car!
Cons: The hotel was a bit outdated. The town of Hakuba is very quit in the rain season (off season). Thus, it was quit and a lot of restaurants and shops are closed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very kind and welcoming.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What’s not to like about this property!!!! I guess I’ll start with the location, it’s perfect. It’s down the street from Goryu, it’s about a 5 minute walk to a lift but, about a 10 min walk to the gondola. Another reason why this place is so great is because, you will have access to ski both Goryu(intermediate and expert which translates to Blue and diamond runs) and Hakuba 47(beginner which correlates to Green runs) and the property will also give you a discount on rentals(2,500 yen per day per person). They also offered a well balanced breakfast every morning(soup, salad, yogurt, fresh jam and fruit, rolls, coffee or tea, eggs, ham and sausage) and a delicious dinner(dependent on the menu)... It was so wonderful to have breakfast every morning(1,000 yen per person per day) before hitting the mountain. The room was spacious and clean (bigger than my partner’s San Francisco studio apartment!). It had a bathroom with a separate toilet, the beds were small and hard to sleep on, but we managed. Note: WiFi is spotty in rooms but works well in the room across from the reception desk. *Absolutely worth it!* Last but not least, let me finish off my review with talking about the owners. They’re some of the most kind and gracious people I have ever encountered in my travels. We went late in the ski season(April 7th) so the shuttle stopped running, but our hosts drove us to the mountains, the restaurants we wanted to dine at, and to the market for groceries. They’re such wonderful humans and really made us feel welcomed! *I do want to mention to help to communicate more effectively we used google translate and it worked just fine for us.* You won’t be disappointed, so stay here and see for yourself!!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: They picked us up from bus stop and dropped off as well. Nice service.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had an amazing stay at Pension Arumu. They contacted us the night before our arrival to offer to collect us from the bus and, having done so, made a detour to the local supermarket so we could get supplies as the nearby restaurants were closed. The service was first-class from start to finish, they were extremely attentive to us. The room was a twin and HUGE, with two sofas and plenty of space to relax in, unlike a lot of Japanese accommodation which is understandably cramped. Breakfast was delicious - soup and salad followed by sausage, ham and eggs, with warm bread fresh from the oven and finished off with yogurt, coffee and juice. All served to our table with classical music in the background. When we left they kindly dropped us off at the train station. I would go back in a heartbeat and recommend it to anyone. Amazing Japanese hospitality and extremely lovely owners.
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: The whole experience there was amazing the food was outstanding from breakfast right through to dinner. The staff so friendly and helpful and the facilities just awesome and the way cater for every need just makes it so easy to best holiday ever thank you Sierra
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The resort is just beautiful. We really enjoyed the onsens and the viewing rooms. The games (pool, darts, air hockey, ping pong) were great for keeping the kids entertained. There are lots of little surprises around the hotel, including popcorn, lollies, miso and thai green curry. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Everything is made really easy. The buffet breakfast was awesome.
Cons: They made it very difficult to book an early dinner at the western-style restaurant. After a day in the snow, we didn't really want to goback out for dinner every night, and after the first few nights, the children demanded something other than the (fantastic) onsite Japanese restaurant, but unless we were ordering the set menu (unsuitable for children), they wouldn't give us a booking before about 7.30, which is after our children's bedtime. However, this is my only complaint about this resort.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was absolutely beautiful! A great place to come back to after a day on the slopes. They have 4 private onsens as well as a public one. There’s darts, ice hockey, ping pong and a pool table as well as free wine, mulled wine, sake and tea/coffee. Rooms were big, clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and happy to help. If you’re sore I highly recommend a shiatsu massage in your room- heeled me a lot!!
Cons: Not near any other restaurants at night without a car or taxi to get you there unlike if you stay down near Happo
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The courtyard around the buildings was huge and well decorated. They offered free drinks till 11pm. Private onsen could be booked for free. Shuttle bus service to station and restaurants. Even took our luggage from the shuttle to reception for us. Variety of food at breakfast wasn’t bad, quality could improve a little. Staff were super nice and helpful. They gave us a gift bag that contained two Nagano prefecture apples inside! Amazing service.
Cons: Breakfast could improve slightly. A bar inside the premises would be nice too.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything - it was amazing
Cons: I loved every second
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is definitely a 5 star. There’s a beautiful garden, with a picturesque View of snow capped mountains. The service is impeccable. The staff goes out of their way to accommodate you. They picked us up from the train station, the shuttle took us dinner and picked us up. Complimentary breakfast with all day wine, coffee and tea service. I loved it. Will definitely return. The property is so serene and peaceful.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel exceeded my expectations, very attentive and generous. Staff were very nice and welcome upon to our arrival and the lobby was spacious and with a very nice view. Rooms were spacious, which is rare in Hakuba. You'll never go hungry while staying in this hotel: Breakfast are delicious; they serve snacks such as miso soup, curry, rice, etc after lunch (around 2pm) till dinner time; between 9pm-10pm they serve other snacks as well. Parking is super convenient. The parking lot is just across the hotel entrance so you don't need to walk too far. If you are there for ski season, the rental shop gives very reasonable price. We went around to check out Rhythm and Spicy and they are expensive. The hotel's ski rental shop are much cheaper if you are not too picky on the rental items. Ski lift tickets are much cheaper to buy from the hotel instead of at the mountain. The best part of the hotel is the onsen (hot springs). While I didn't enjoy the bathroom from my hotel room, the public hot springs and private ones are amazing with stunning views. Surprisingly the hot springs are never crowded so you can relax after a long day up on the slopes. Private hot springs (total of 4 private hot springs) are beautiful with different themes. It is a great place for families and couples.
Cons: The only thing would be the bathroom in our hotel room. The bathroom is a bit old, but it didn't bother me so much because I especially enjoyed the public / private hot springs. The breakfast was more towards western style. I would like to see more Japanese typical breakfast. Anyhow, there are still lots of varieties and the breakfast was still very good. Some might find the location a bit far from the ski mountains. It would be convenient to have a car.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff were amazing. Excellent English, very helpful, friendly... Had a really nice room: spacious, comfortable, nice bed, etc. Great onsen options (very good public one and also various options of private ones that you can book for 30 min time slots). Lots of free stuff: Pool, table tennis, air hockey, private onsens, wine, nice teas, popcorn and lunches (very nice green curry and rice).
Cons: To go anywhere requires a bus/taxi/car. i.e. you can't just walk out the hotel and visit other restaurants etc.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The images uploaded on Booking.com don’t do Sierra Resort justice. Picturesque from every window, we were blown away by how beautiful the resort was, how polite and accommodating the staff were, and how many complimentary additions were found throughout the resort. With the free shuttle bus to Goryu mountain, the helpful staff at Sierra organised discounted ski lift passes for Goryu and recommended a fantastic English speaking ski school. We also took advantage of the on-site ski and snowboard hire, which we found the price very competitive and conveniently added to our final check-out bill. From the moment we walked into the foyer and saw the fireplace to the right, and floor to ceiling windows featuring the forest and mountains straight ahead, we were blown away. We truly can’t recommend Sierra Resort enough, and we can’t wait to return in the (hopefully near) future!
Cons: The only thing that we found (very slightly) inconvenient was that our room was often too hot due to the central heating, with no apparent way to turn down the heating. With that being said, we didn’t ask if it were possible to turn down the heat, so it may be an easy fix.

Pros: Amazing staff and service particularly Mickey!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel is charming, beautifully decorated with interesting pieces made by local artists. Set in its own forest, local wildlife spotted from dining room included foxes, raccoon dogs and martens. Staff extremely attentive, dropped off each morning at nearby ski lift and collected at the end of the day. Afternoon tea by the open fire made for a fitting end to a ski day. Breakfast is hearty and varied, dinner in both the main dining room and bar Michelin standard. La Neige is an outstanding ski holiday destination.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff hospitality was extraordinary. They bent over backwards to make your stay so memorable
Cons: Nothing. It was all great. We travel frequently & think very highly of a place with impeccable service without tipping as an undertone
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was the best we had on our trip to Japan. Fresh fruit, yoghurt, lovely flakey croissants and pastries, lots of choice for eggs. Our dinner was also fantastic. The service and attentive staff are outstanding. We've not experienced a more pleasing team anywhere in our travels. Truly amazing.
Cons: The furniture/decor in the main lobby and the rooms in the main hotel do appear a little dated, but the longer you stay the more you become accustomed to it. A decor update might be in order.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff could not do anymore to make our experience more enjoyable and comfortable. The room/spa were were a wonderful retreat after skiing.
Cons: Nothing everything was perfect, staff weee always attentive and obliging
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best Service I have ever seen in snow accomodation. Good food. Nice quiet location and close to ski areas.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very nice family style hotel, with excellent service by staff speaking English. Very good support for any service related to ski (pass, rental,...). We stayed in the cottage which is nice for family though you do not have a direct access to the hotel. Food is excellent either breakfast, with a large choice as well as dinner with children menu. Well located close to the ski slopes and lifts. Surely one of the best adress in Hakuba.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Outstanding service!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: La Neige Team was one of the best ever experienced , everything smoth and polite
Cons: We were offseason and Hotel was empty so they should have honest dynamic pricing for offseason and not high season prices
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location and the outdoor bar/ dining area
Cons: The decoration style is nor to my liking - but that is personal preference
8.8 Excellent
Pros: From the second we arrived and the staff came rushing down the driveway to help us carry our snowboards and provide slippers for us to change in to from our boots, to the last day, when they fussed over our luggage and dropped us at the bus terminal, I could not fault their service. The staff really were the highlight and could not have been kinder or more helpful. There is a lovely fireplace and lounge area at reception which is perfect for relaxing after are hard day on the slopes (not not mention all the free goodies and tea/coffee that are also there for guests to enjoy). The room had two balcony’s and lovely views of the mountain and the hotel was a 5-10 Minute walk to the Sakka ski chairlift area (they will happily drop you here every morning too if you wish). It is a little bit of a walk to the main area of town but there is still a couple of food options within walking distance (and a semi regular shuttle service that leaves from out the front).
Cons: The property itself is a bit older and could do with some slight updates (particularly in the bathrooms in the rooms). It is quite expensive for what you get in regards to room (we paid $500 AUD per night) and felt rooms at other properties for that price point are slightly nicer - for example this room didn’t include any coffee making facilities)

9.5 Excellent
Pros: friendly hosts with comfy feeling
Cons: n/a
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The ability of the staff to communicate in English was helpful. Their knowledge of the area in almost all aspects made it easy for me to make my plans, in my case, hiking routes and conditions.
Cons: Somewhat minor disadvantage was the distance to food shopping but that's outweighed by the positives of the location.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Towels were not available even though it was mentioned towels were available.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Warm welcome and very kind of owner
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Loved the staff, super friendly, very welcoming and they gave me a lot of useful tips!
Cons: I didn't sleep very well because of some noisy room mates
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were so lovely and accommodating, even driving me to the supermarket so I could get food to make because I wasn't able to eat any of the food in the area. They were also great to have a chat with
Cons: The only downside was that there wasn't many people around due to my stay being at the very end of snow season, and there were no vegan restaurants around which made eating very difficult. Those were in no way a reflection of the hostel though.
7.5 Good
Pros: Loved the location and the hosts. After we checked on it was only a 10 minute walk to the ski slope and chair lifts. We came prepared with heat and serve meals and some breakfast food. Comfortable rooms and a well set up kitchen. The hosts spoke good English .We were on bicycles from Australia
Cons: All good
9.3 Excellent
Pros: pros: Toshi-san is a nice host who will give you recommendation on what to do, be it hiking or swimming in the lake during Hakuba summer where most business are closed but the mountain and the lakes remain so, so pretty and wanting to be explored! Hakuba is quiet and beautiful during summer, exactly what i was looking for in this trip. and K's house provides everything you need in Hakuba--room with AC, comfy bed, fast wifi, and vending machine with beers and cold water. spacious common room too.
Cons: cons: just a bit of uphill walk from the bus stop, dark road at night time (at least during summer when i stayed here)

Pros: Wonderful place! Tasty breakfast, hot onsen, good warm room for snowboard equipment, perfect location. Thanks for all, Yutaka!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Yukata, the owner, went out of his way to cater to our needs — from picking us up from the bus station, to preparing cash for us when we ran out. The B&B was so comfortable that we found ourselves heading back from the slopes earlier, so we can relax at the property. Great location in the heart of Echoland.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Takka is the best host. It is super clean and homely. The breakfast is by far the best in town, so tasty! The location is fabulous and the value is good
Cons: Nothing to fault
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Cosy, homely feel with a wonderful welcome from the owner. Fabulous breakfast with homemade bread and a different dish each day. Fantastic to have access to a private onsen! Good value for money - even though the room felt a bit dated, it was really cosy and the beds were very comfortable. A wonderful lounge to chill out in too - we even made friends with the budgie! We would definitely stay here again.
Cons: A yukata to go to the onsen would be good. And fresh towels without having to ask for them. But generally, a wonderful place to stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Pension Belnina absolutely exceeded expectations! Yutaka the lovely man that runs the beautiful accomodation, was so lovely and hospitable. My friends and I had the most wonderful stay! We will be back again and will happily pay the price!!

Pros: Breakfast was very good and the owner was of a great help. He drive us to the sky station as bus weren't available. Thanks again!
Cons: A. Bit far from the train station if you're out of the swnow season.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners were so beautiful and bent over backwards to improve our trip. Private Onsen and free breakfast were amazing
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Our stay at Pension Belnina could not have been better. The owner was super friendly and helpful, organizing taxis, reservations, etc. for us. Location was great, just a minute or two to the shuttle buses for the various resorts, and right around the corner from an amazing noodle shop, bars, and other restaurants. Breakfast was nice, very cozy and with the best homemade jam (I wish they sold it!). We booked one of the largest units, very spacious and with our own bathroom, which was great, so I can't speak to the communal ones in the main house. The dry room in the basement of the main house was also very useful. Most of the people we met were repeat guests, and after staying, I can see why. Would definitely recommend without hesitation.
Cons: The beds could have been more comfortable, but that's the only thing that wasn't amazing here.

Pros: I absolute loved my stay at grove inn Skala, it was so well located, grove inn Skala has one of the bus stops for the free shuttles for I think two big ski fields, and the other one is 25m walk away which can take you to a different ski field! The breakfast was amazing!! The different combinations of food was so good! They were really accommodating to allergies as well! The family running the inn were the most amazing and welcoming people! They also accommodated for our late check in at 2am! When stayed in a traditional Japanese style room which was perfect. The walk into town takes around 10 minutes, they also have a drying room downstairs where you can store all your equipment! You are also able to buy lift passes for two of the mountains at the reception, and you get a discount! The lines at the ski fields can sometimes be very long!
Cons: Nothing! It was amazing!

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. They picked us up and dropped us off to the bus terminal and when we needed help with directions they were always more than happy to help. Osamu also went out of his way to call numerous restaurants for us to make a reservation with was super helpful. It was also in a great location as the bus for the ski slopes picks you up from the hotel and it was within walking distance to heaps of yummy food in Echoland!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location for Hakuba ski shuttle and for Echo Land. Lovey family run establishment. Great morning breakfast and facilities. Would definitely stay at Grove Inn again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 day stay at the picturesque Grove Inn Skala. The rooms and amenities were impeccably clean, warm and well decorated, the beds are very comfortable and shower water pressure is strong. No request was too much for the owners, who were delightful in every way- a lovely family run business. The hot breakfast was delicious every morning. The large living area was a welcomed edition after a long day on the slopes. The drying area was well sized to accommodate all ski equipment. I would strongly recommend to stay here.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was great - close to Echoland, the bus stop, rental shops and lots of bars and restaurants. The owners made the trip for us though - always smiling, accomodating, and absolutely wonderful! The food - both breakfast and we opted for a dinner - was prepared to the highest standard, fresh, and some of the best food we’ve eaten anywhere in Japan. Definitely make sure to book into their restaurant for dinner in advance - it is a highlight. We were a bit dubious about staying in a Japanese style room with a bed on the floor, however it was big, cosy and fun. I slept like a log the entire trip, and didn’t have a single problem - in fact I liked it much more than the western style bed in our Osaka accomodation! Don’t forget about the baths - they were the best way to soak off the bruises racked up from falling down the ski slopes - impeccably clean, well designed, and always easy to get into without a wait. In summary - do yourself a favour and stay here. We will be back for sure!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good. I liked the soup and the fruit.
Cons: Slight inconvenience for bathrooms to be located outside the rooms.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The gem of Kunugi is the hospitality of its owners. From the moment we got off the bus in Hakuba they attended to our every need and were always happy to help. The superior suite was lovely with a great view of the snow from the bath. The ease of transport to the ski/snowboard area was great. 3 large private baths/Onsens were available for use and were perfect after a long day on the slopes. The highlight of the property was the incredible breakfasts cooked fresh every morning, they were some of the best meals we had over our trip.
Cons: Nothing

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Super location and loved the private onsen. The host was very helpful, giving us information on sightseeing, dinner, and skiing. It was very quiet and peaceful.
Cons: Did not love the separate bathroom.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is such a lovely place to stay! Ryoji has been running this hotel since the 1998 Nagano olympics, and he's found a great formula. He's super friendly and is always willing to help guests with travel advice, arranging things (taxis, when shuttles leave, etc). He and his family went to great lengths to make our stay wonderful. The hotel itself is very comfy, and the meals each morning were different and tasty. The onsen on site is such a wonderful thing to come back to after a day skiing, and we took full advantage of them each day! Dinner was a lovely experience and would definitely recommend at least once. A short 3 minute walk to the Hakuba chapel shuttle stop, and then down the main road in Echolands, this is a great place to stay and would highly recommend it!
Cons: Nothing, but just a note: if you are searching for the property on maps, use the name of the hotel as the street address gives a different location (location on booking map is correct).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect, I can't fault anything about our stay. The owners were so thoughtful and helpful, which is what made our stay even better. I definitely will be recommending this place to any one I know who will be visiting Hakuba.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our stay exceeded all expectations. The accommodation was beautiful spacious and in the greatest location. The staff were so lovely and attentive and helped shave hours of research and booking time off our trip - helping with booking ski gear at a good price, organising transfers and lift passes and suggesting dinner destinations. Breakfast was delicious and filling and the onsen baths really beautiful! Cannot recommend enough
Cons: Nothing to fault at all!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It was our second time staying here. We enjoyed the clean and thoughtfully decorated room, as well as the private baths. Great hospitality too! Breakfast was home made and very delicious. Will definitely be back again!
Cons: It was all very good.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nanjo the owner was absolutely amazing! Nothing was a problem. Breakfast and dinner were incredible and the location was within easy walking distance to the heart of Echoland where everything you need is! The free shuttle and other buses left from 20m down the road. We will stay here again and will be telling all our family/friends to as well!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location close to bus stop we loved it because it was only one bus stop away from 47. Ten minutes to echo land where you will find lots of restaurants. Seven eleven ten minutes and another five to the big supermarket. Walls are pretty thin so if you are noisy other rooms will be disrupted. Great little outdoor onset you get to use privately. Handy fridge in room we stayed three weeks and would definitely return.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: This was a nice hotel. Plenty of space (especially as Japan rooms tend to be quite small), the onsen was perfect, nice restaurant, shuttle bus to the ski fields right outside the door.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Staff and rooms
Cons: I could hear people talking during the night. I was unable to understand if the voices came from outside the property rather than neighbors. The free shuttle bus is no much convenient as described. They provide few runs in the morning and few runs in the afternoon. It was always busy plus consider we were all with our own ski equipment.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Staff excellent, onsen great, brekky good, spotless, ski lockers great, fab coffee across the road.
Cons: Restaurant menu boring and they need to open it as a bar for happy hour. We would have stayed and spent. Happy hour in lobby alcohol not very good quality.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We would like the services, the restaurant and also the hot spring.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Courtyard by Marriot Hakuba is a decent hotel with good rooms and very friendly service. We especially enjoyed our in-room onsen after a hard day's work on the ski slopes. The public rotemburo - outdoor onsen - is very nice as well. The provided ski-lockers worked well. Go to Hakuba 47 for the best skiing in the area.
Cons: Breakfast is very good, but very expensive. Same for the in-house grill restaurant. Japanese Dining Kyoto down the road is a must go for a more authentic Japanese dining experience. Climate control needs to be re-calibrated to properly deal with the in-room onsen.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved this place when it was LaForet. I love it even more now that its courtyard.
Cons: Nothing. They're great!!!!
7.0 Good
Pros: Free shuttle pickup to and from Hakuba station by reservation.
Cons: The spa opening time is not long enough. Hope that free shuttle bus services to travel hotspots could be more frequent.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: onsen, service in the restaurant, bed, location.
Cons: food is quite overpriced - nice not to have to leave the hotel but we spent $200 for 2 people and it could have been uch better (or cheaper). When I checked out nobody said "good morning" or " how was your stay", or anything. It was quite uncomfortable. I didn't even know if it was ok to leave. I put my key on the concierge desk and the girl without paying any attention to me passed it on to another girl who paid no attention to me. They seriously need some training.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The food and services of the hotel restaurant are very good and the prices are quite reasonable.
Cons: No
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room and the facilities is great.open air onsen , free parking
Cons: Only suitable for people who travel with personal car

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The boot warming room at the entrance was great. The building was nice and warm. The host was very helpful with local information. Certainly if you were on a skiing holiday and wanted to keep the costs down this is a good option.
Cons: I would have thought a business that had as many rooms that it did, there would be more than one bathroom and toilet. As it was it was not a problem for me, but it was for my partner. Breakfast could be a bit more substantial, people would willing pay more, I would anyway.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The owners were amazing, very helpful and very friendly, they looked after us like a family. Room is very clean. Also, the bus stop just right next to the acomodation which is very convenient.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hakuba Alpine Hotel rocks! I would stay here again in a heartbeat! I cannot fault HAH - I'm embarrassed to admit that I cannot remember the owners name but he is the host with the most - very professional, genuine, caring, thoughtful and polite. It's his family business and he was born in Hakuba - been there for 60 years! The traditional breakfasts and dinners are outstanding - you will not regret doing this. So nice to wake up in the morning knowing that a hearty protein filled breakfast which has been prepared with care is waiting for you. And after a day on the slopes using the onsen is a godsend (a must for muscle recovery) and not having to go out for dinner is bliss! Located a 3 min walk from Happo Bus Terminal is great - this is where all the shuttle buses to the various skiing areas depart from as well. Yes the pillows are a little firm but we asked for a couple more which helped - but at the end of the day we were shattered so probably would have slept anywhere! Lawsons Supermarket just up the road have great dinner options if you want a couple of cheap dinner options - great bento boxes, sushi and other tasty treats. We sat around the fire in the communal area in the hotel with some beers and enjoyed our takeout. Highly recommended :)

Pros: Loved the Japanese breakfast, which was different every day. The one dinner we had was a Japanese feast! Soaking in the onsen at the end of a days skiing was also delicious! There is ski and boot drying at the hotel, and it is within walking distance of restaurants and bus terminal.
Cons: Not much clothing storage in the room. Two of us were in a 4-bed room so we could spread out, but it would have been very tight with four people.

Pros: Very clean, very friendly staff, can pick u up from and to Happo One Bus terminal, nice onset with indoor and outdoor pools.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Onsen, location and staff
Cons: Mattress and pillow
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hospitality of the hotel staffs were beyond expectations. I dropped them a last min email to ask if I could be picked up from the terminal and they came. Throughout the days there, the receptionist greeted us every time with enthusiasm and was very welcoming. It made our days. They sent us to the bus terminal on our last day and even gave us small gifts when we left. The level of hospitality is truly one of a kind. Every night, they will fill up the sweets and snacks at a corner of the lobby for the guest. Small little gestures like these made us felt really welcome. The futon beds were extremely comfortable and we slept like babies every night. The room was clean, huge and cosy. The onsen was sooooo good. I love how they have a indoor and outdoor onsen. The bathing facilities we're perfect and even though I had my own private bathroom, I have been bathing at the onsen's facilities. We will be back for sure.
Cons: Nothing in particular.

Pros: Great Japanese feels Hotel. They have 2 onsens that are magnificent. I have been there a few times, and I love my stays in Hakuba highland hotel. Breakfast and dinner were outstanding and great value for money. The tempura chef is so loveable, he made sure we were very well fed with the perfect tempuras.
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was a Japanese onsen resort and was very traditional. The guests can book the private onsen, which we did and it was a fantastic experience after a days skiing. The food was abundant and very varied. The staff were fantastic and very helpful.
Cons: The hotel was further away from the village than I would have liked.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The whole building was perfect. Very fitting to the location and snow environment. The staff were so accommodating and friendly!! The rooms were perfect size and the food was superb. It was a little far to walk around Hakuba and the cabs are quite expensive. But overall would recommend
Cons: It was slightly too imcomvsnient to travel anywhere in Hakuba as the taxis were expensive.
7.0 Good
Pros: The onsen was definitely the highlight of staying here, it felt very traditional and has a great view of several snow fields. The ¥2000 buffet was good too!
Cons: The poorly run shuttle bus that would only drop you off in town and not pick you up later, even if it was to go to the pharmacy. Having to pay a tax per night on the room was a surprise, even costing more then the original booking.com price.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The Onsen at the hotel is available free of charge for guests, and is outstanding with spectacular views. The hotel is a little out of the way but has plenty of transport to all the mountains, and also provides plenty of convenient transport organised by the hotel staff into the town (HAKUBA) for tours and dinners. The staff are so kind and nothing is impossible for them. We were a large noisy group with a lot of demands and they were happy to help us - made dinner bookings etc. We highly recommend this hotel. Boarding and skiing at Hakuba 47 is really good!
Cons: I’m sorry to say that they only have single beds, and the beds and pillows were a little bit hard for us but the rooms were very comfortable (Onsen totally makes up for this).

Pros: Rental shop at hotel and ski shuttle bus made getting to the slopes super easy. Onsens were amazing! What a beautiful mountain view.
7.5 Good
Pros: The onsens were beautiful and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Very close to the ski resorts. Decent for a 3 star hotel.
Cons: The buffet was not nice in my opinion, my friends and I had to go to town for dinner.
