Montevideo hotels near Casa de Antonio Montero

Pros: The hotel is absolutely beautiful. It sits right on a quiet historic plaza and the rooms are gorgeous. The staff helped us get tickets to the national soccer championship game and arranged a driver. Tons of great restaurants in walking distance.

Cons: The Jacuzzi on the roof didn't seem to work.

Pros: The breakfast was delicious with your eggs made to order. If you choose to have a cocktail in the library, an eager staffer will bring you ice and a mixer to go with the bottles of liquor available to you. The rooftop was great with a shower and hot tub. But nothing beats the accommodating staff and the location.

Cons: Nothing could have better. The beautifully decorated hotel is located perfectly to all of your Montevideo desires.

Pros: This hotel is next to a lovely little square in Montevideo’s Ciudad Vieja. Each room is decorated in honor of a famous Uruguayan. Our room, for Dona Juana, had a spacious balcony overlooking Plaza Zabala (unfortunately for us, the weather during our stay wasn’t conducive to time on the balcony). This is a great base for walking to sights, restaurants and shops in this central part of Montevideo. The breakfasts are very good and the staff are helpful.

Pros: Great location! Comfortable room with interesting decor

Cons: Tv didn’t work (but we didn’t care much and forgot to report to staff). Some staff (well, 1) was not well informed. Told us we could catch direct ferry to Buenos Aires at 11 on Saturday—wrong, it runs at 11 every day but Saturday! Also told us to run catch Buenos Aires bus at 9:30 on Thursday. Wrong—leaves at 10 am during week. We did really appreciate another staffer’s recommendation of Jacinto restaurant—loved it!!

Cons: They charged in mu credit card one more night, after i have paid all balance in cash.

Cons: There wasn't too much around the hotel but that could just be a personal bias. The food nearby wasn't great and the area shut down early at night

Pros: Nice big clean rooms with fantastic reception staff who were really helpful in sorting out all our restaurant reservations, bus tickets, taxis, etc.. very friendly and always willing to help!

Cons: I booked this hotel specifically for the bathtub. I travel 365 days of the year usually staying in hotels half the price of this one. But I decided to treat myself as I occasionally do. I booked and upgraded to a room with a bathtub, but when I arrived there wasn't a bathtub. I called downstairs and they simply said, "Some rooms have one, some don'T." I explained that I specifically requested one and he just said, "Sorry." I have to rate this experience a zero because my expectations were black and white: either it had a bathtub or it didn'T. It didn't, so it completely failed. Also, housekeeping didn't replace the towels on the floor of the bathroom -- so what am I paying for? I regretted booking this hotel so much that it ruined my entire stay in Montevideo. I'm generally a happy person so was cheerful touring the city, then I would have to come back to this hotel and be livid and irritated at how I was so easily bait-and-switched. I just feel completely ripped off. I don't need any special attention, I just need my one expectation matched.

Cons: Kitchen is not very useful because there is no material like stove, plates etc.

Pros: Very nice, modern and new hotel well located near the old town. Very friendly stall and good breakfast. I would certainly book it again if I go back to Montevideo

Cons: The door to the room was closed far from the first time.

Pros: Central location, a few hundred meters from the presidential palace and main city square. Close to old city. Modern, new hotel. We had a loft and it felt like a nice condo unit. Breakfast is good, with fresh orange juice and a variety of cheese, cold meats, fruits, pastries, omelette.

Pros: The level of cleaning was worth to mention. The breakfast was balanced and full of variety.

Cons: The internet connection is not fast or reliable at all. Also, one couldn't really tell whether the room service was coming in or not, awaking me couple of times.

Pros: Clean, new, lots of hot water, good breakfast, free movies, nice small gym on the 10th floor with a view of the city and room for getting the sun, also great for watching the sunset. Desk staff was super especially Ines.

Cons: Some folks on desk had a bit of difficulty with English.

Pros: Location, Bar/Restaurant, room design, staff. This is the perfect base for your trip to Montevideo. But bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper.

Pros: This is a good midrange choice in the historical centre of the city. Everything was good without being outstanding. Rooms are clean and functional. Wifi was good and the breakfast was plentiful.

Cons: The hot water in my room was a problem. It didn’t work one day and they fixed it immediately. However, in the morning I was leaving it wasn’t working again. I don’t believe this will be an ongoing problem though as the management response was appropriate.

Pros: Super close to the sights in Ciudad Vieja - an easy walk to everything!

Cons: Very noisy rooms. Could hear a lot of noise from the street and neighboring rooms and the main hallway. Room did not have the metal shutters necessary to keep noise out.

Pros: Both rooms I had were immaculate, and stocked with what I needed. My original reservation was for two nights and I had a good-sized very quiet room. I had to book an extra night after my flight cancelled, and the second room was considerably smaller and louder. The price was higher, but the manager negotiated and met me half way with the price I paid and what the rate was that day. Overall, friendly service and no complaints. I'd stay here again (but would ask for my original room!)

Cons: Breakfast was not great. I ended up eating out. Not everyone at the desk speaks English, so if you don't speak Spanish, it just requires creativity and patience, but they are very nice and eager to help.
