Location is great very close to Independence square and other main sights. Breakfast is fabulous, more than i had expected. The main room was good, clean and comfortable. Staff was helpful and kind as well as the owner, they helped me with a problem i had with my flight as more as they could.
Wi-fi was very slow, especially in rush hours i could barely use it. The bathroom was small and needs renovation. I asked for a quiet room but they provided me a room on the 2nd floor (the hotel has 8 floors) and frond side in the main street. Although i paid cash for my accommodation upon arrival, i noticed randomly checking my transaction history with my smartphone that they charged me additionaly 75 US$! The owner apologized that it happened accidentally and they refunded me, i still can't see the money back tho... Hopefully the next days...
The hotel is a no frills hotel in the centre of Montevideo. It’s clean and presentable and due to its location, it’s very easy to get anywhere in the city. There is a good selection of food for breakfast and the staff were very helpful. The bedroom is clean and basic. The bathroom is also pretty clean though very small.
A coach load of teenage boys on a rugby tour were there for 2 of the nights we were there and proceeded to cause disturbances by playing knock down ginger on our room doors and by clogging up the breakfast buffet table to such an extent that no other guest could even attempt to obtain food or coffee. Considering that the breakfast area was so small, the hotel should have planned for this and the boys given a separate breakfasting time. Our friends were also charged $15 for a stain on the bath mat - only after we had checked out! - as they said they had stained this but they had noticed it at the time and it was clearly cleaning fluid. This is not acceptable.
Breakfast was good enough!
Location was really good. Bit of old town and some monuments in walking distance. Restaurants and shops near by, even bus stop within 2 min walking.
Hotel charged us 10 USD and DIDN'T tell us when we were checking out (20 min later). Just took money of credit card after 2 hours we left, didn't send email or notice why charging us, so you have to write them and check. If you want breakfast you have to be there soon enough because 10:30 am is gone, you can be even glad they wont kick you out of dinner. The way how receptionist (only one of them) talk to you was pure shamefulness rolling her eyes, mumbling, not clear information, rude through phone. When we paid bill of hotel, and ask why we didn't get us tax back (paid by international credit card), night receptionist said that in their hotel it doesn't apply (in which all other accommodation even small hostel it did apply). So we were confused. I have worked over 10 years in hospitality (hotel - almost all positions, bar, events) and barely met with this kind of attitude from staff.
Great little hotel in the perfect location for exploring different parts of Montevideo. 10/10 would absolutely stay again. Fantastic, especially for the price. Great staff, great breakfast, clean and comfy rooms, a bit of a retro feel but in a good way. The bathrooms are modern and the building is very well cared-for.
Previous reviews mention the lack of soundproofing, and while it is possible to hear people in the hallway, this didn't bother us much. I've stayed at two other hotels in this city that were much worse on this point.
