Hôtel La Citadelle Metz - Mgallery - Metz - Building
3
8.5 Excellent (2,381 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Opened in 2005, Hotel de la Citadelle, near the historic and cultural heart of Metz, is worthy of top recognition for high-end hotels. A large military building, built in 1559 to preserve Metz square, conquered by King Henry II. This simple and pure building has 68 rooms: 2 suites, 4 meeting rooms, 1 lounge bar, 1 gourmet Michelin starred restaurant "le Magasin aux vivres", directed by Christophe Fosse.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The tea in the bedrooms was very bad. Give a choice ok exotic( you did) and proper breakfast tea
Cons: See above
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Ideally situated, spacious room, huge and very comfortable bed, nice in-house restaurants.
Cons: Maybe the staff could be that bit more attentive, they sometimes made us feel a bit as a disturbance or distraction. I‘ve seen more contemporary bathrooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The building is 500 yrs old and was built as part of a military fort. The rehab is very new and has five star furnishings, finishes, accommodations and services. The staff was ultra friendly and could not have been more helpful. Short stroll to town (5 min) and Metz is very cool.
Cons: Nothing to complain about. And I'm normally a grumpy old man about things
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hotel in the perfect location. Parking was available on the property at additional cost. Highly recommend this hotel.
Cons: Nothing.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Reception and bar staff were especially helpful, kind and fun.
Cons: The bathroom tub design was unusual and, potentially, unsafe — at least for seniors. The design resulted in shower spray going all over the bathroom. Nothing to hold on to while getting into the deep tub. Also - the stair elevator at the front door was inoperable the whole time we were there. Staff helped with suitcases but stairs were still problematic for friends with a disability.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The room was spacious. Good location. Lovely building.
Cons: Could do with a little updating and the room could have been cleaner. There was plenty of parking and it was a shame that we had to pay extra for this.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location with easy access to city center!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff were all extremely helpful and polite. Breakfast every morning was great. We had dinner in the dinning room on our first night, it was very good, We didn't want much to eat on the consecutive nights, so we just snacked on crackers in the room. We enjoyed the separate area by the bathroom for privacy in changing clothes. We enjoyed the view from our window.
Cons: The bathtub was not accessible to my elderly father. He had to bathe at the sink each day.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Good quality bed linen & generous continental breakfast
4.0 Okay
Pros: The location at the historical center
Cons: Cleanliness of the room, the bed covers were stained and not clean. The bath needed improvement as well the closet was clearly an issue. Also they advertise parking. But do not have it. I had to pay my own parking about 700 mtrs from the hotel.
7.5 Good
Pros: Great location
Cons: NO kettle / coffee machine in room - HUGELY noisy with very large groups of students shouting and screaming under our bedroom window until 2:30 am !! :/
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The lady who runs this Hotel is wonderful and so helpful, she has a vast amount of local knowledge and was excellent at answering questions and giving recommendations. The central location is very convenient, and it is much better to walk around the city than to drive.
Cons: As the room we stayed in was overlooking the street it was quite loud in the evening, the room was hot but we were provided with a fan and it was 33C outside so that probably isn't an issue all year round.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent French restaurant next door
Cons: Parking a little distance away but allowed walk through pleasant part of Metz
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff. Good breakfast!
7.5 Good
Pros: The room was huge. There is a door after you enter the room and you can lock the bedroom.
Cons: There is no lift. I have to climb 5 levels. Luckily I did not have a luggage with me.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location. The hotel was right in the old city. Room charming with some real old retro style. Close to shops and restaurants.
Cons: Hard to get the car in as we where driving. All of inner city closed off with bollards. Bath room tiny. Narrow stairs so hard to get luggage up. No lift.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful welcome with good recommendation for dining and places to visit Hotel is in a great location; easy walking distance to cathedral, shops and restaurants.
Cons: There was some street noise that disturbed some members of our party - the down side of being in such a central location

Overview Reviews
A stay at Hôtel le Mondon places you in the heart of Metz, within a 15-minute walk of Centre Pompidou-Metz and Metz Cathedral. Featured amenities include express check-in, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and a 24-hour front desk.
7.9 Good
Pros: Breakfast was really good !
Cons: Shower and carpets might be more clean
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The bed was amazing. Slept like a baby. It was quiet, but still the hotel was near the center. Shower was really good, only thing I missed was a conditioner. I did not bring any since I thought that almost always they offer both shamppoo and conditioner at the hotel. Loved the breakfast too.
Cons: I would have hoped a conditioner after shower.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very helpful and friendly with good English skills. The room was small and the bathroom very small but all worked just fine! This is an older building with a small lift from the 1st floor. There are several stairs to get to the elevator on "0" floor. There are excellent restaurants in Metz, one of which is just a block away.
Cons: The stairs are difficult for us.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: good location of the hotel, just 5 minutes walk from the city centre. Very professional staff with good english spoken
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The building is old but luckily there was a lift. The room was relatively small but was overall well fitted.
Cons: The heating in the room didn’t work and when asked was told that it’s not turned on in the whole building... on 19 Oct that was dissatisfying
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location, breakfast, bed, price.
Cons: Room a bit old-looking, really small, low quality shower
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff was super amazing and open to help all all things. I truly appreciate you guys.
Odalys City Metz Manufacture - Metz - Building
9
8.1 Excellent (1,088 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at this residence in Metz (Les Îles), you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Metz Cathedral and Centre Pompidou-Metz. Featured amenities include laundry facilities and an elevator. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
5.0 Okay
Pros: In fact close to downtown within walking distance.
Cons: Well, if you reserve parking spot and you arrive around midnight - nobody around, guy on phone couldn´t explain where to park /in vicinity is just a posibble to park for fee max. for 2 h/ and you have to park a car 2.5 km away from hotel at Lidl´s and then walk it back - this is total mood killer, sorry. Plus like charge me for next day for parking at hotel´s premises, when they messed up liked that? Hard to communicate with them - English basic + German no way - never ever again...
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location was great
Cons: Verry small beds, everything basic, to expensive
6.7 Good
Pros: Location of Hotel (central to everything), Price is very reasonable.
Cons: You get what you pay for. There is a reason why this Hotel also rents to students. This is what it feels like, like a student home. Fairly modern, but cheap, also regarding comfort (i.e. bed+ air conditioning). You can not expect more for this amount of money. Problem was to find it, a couple bigger signs (outside, or road-marks) would be nice. The parking is a nightmare. The architect of the parking garage should be slapped.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Apartment Hotel with a kitchen area with microwave, kettle, fridge, coffee machine, toaster and induction hob and plates, pan etc. Balcony with table and chairs. Comfy double bed.Large shower room with shower, basin and toilet. Free wifi and TV.Air conditioning and radiators. Breakfast served in cafeteria with good coffee and fresh croissants and bread.
Cons: There was secure parking with a map to help you find your parking place. It was quite tight to get round the tight turns in an estate car and difficult to find our room from the car park. The bed was fixed against one wall making it difficult for the second person to get in and out of bed.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location is quiet and close to the old city centre. The balcony was a lovely space to look out over the rooftops to the Cathedral. A big bathroom and good shower. Parking 2 mins walk away in place St Vincent is free after 7pm.
Cons: A little hard to find when approaching by car - it’s off a street that looks like it’s only for buses and is set back from the road - Look for a big yellow building set back off the road down a pedestrianised walk way, directly opposite the Pl St Vincent car park) Room was a little smaller than anticipated and a little basic.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Metz was a one-night stopover on a road trip to Germany. The town is so beautiful and has a great buzz about it, we wished it could have been longer. The hotel is in a brilliant location only a few minutes walk to the centre and almost next door to several historic buildings. The hotel is nothing fancy and the furnishings are a bit basic, but the room was large, clean and comfortable. We were on a high floor so had a great view from the balcony. Would definitely stay here again.
Cons: We struggled to make ourselves understood when we checked in, but it didn’t cause too much of a problem.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: only the location .
Cons: small bed, smelly dirty room, no aircondition
6.3 Good
Cons: Room dirty. Really disappointed about parking: we sent several messages a month before for an underground parking. They told us it couldn't be booked in advance, but no problem. 3 hours before our arrival they told us we couldn't have the parking because we were arriving after 8pm, which it wasn't told us before. We ended up looking for another parking 500 meters away
7.1 Good
Cons: Despite advertising there was WiFi in the room there was none at all in the two days we were there. We were told it was down but that is how it stayed - down. For anyone relying on WiFi they would be in trouble. We also found the underground car park very difficult to negotiate as the corners were very tight and we had a real difficulty finding our way out as there were was very little signage.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I asked about parking before we came and got good instructions as to how to reach the hotel and the parking. Otherwise it might have been difficult to find. It is very near the picturesque old part of Metz with the beautiful cathedral and some lovely restaurants. Easy to walk to it.
Cons: We would have liked to be able to leave the car longer than the checkout time of twelve. The car park was empty when we left. We had to find a different car park in Metz. Finding the car parking space in the garage was hard, and the turns were very tight. The breakfast was limited and the woman who put out the food was not very welcoming. She put out minimum amounts - one croissant each, etc, and was busy wrapping it up and putting it away when we arrived at least an hour before it was due to close.

8.1 Excellent (107 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Opposite St. Etienne's Cathedral, Hôtel de la Cathédrale Metz is set in Metz and offers a 24-hour front desk. The property has a terrace and is 1.3 km from Centre Pompidou-Metz. Free WiFi access is provided. In a building with no lift, all units are equipped with a desk and a flat-screen TV with cable channels. Rooms are complete with a private bathroom fitted with free toiletries, while certain rooms at Hôtel de la Cathédrale Metz also have a seating area. 7.0 Good
Pros: Close to cathedral - good breakfast - help in carrying bags on stairs with no elevator - beautiful setting in old town
Cons: Lack of elevator - needed extra blanket
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful stay- really enjoyed hearing the bells till and the view of the cathedral
Cons: It was pretty noisy as a public holiday the next day, but being in the centre of it all you have to expect this
8.3 Excellent
Pros: This is not a bland, soulless hotel, but one with lots of character. There are beams, there is chintz galore, but it is all well done. We were in the annexe, which is only a few doors down from the main hotel. We didn’t eat here, so cannot comment on the breakfast. But the staff were nice, we slept well, and we’d stay again. The view of the cathedral is nice, though you do have to ignore the car park that the Metz authorities decided to place in the Cathedral precincts. It’s an act of cultural vandalism, but it’s not the fault of the hotel.
Cons: It is worth being aware that there is no elevator (in the annexe), so be prepared to climb many stairs. Also the bathroom needs updating: there was no way to shower standing up, which is very unusual today. Also the towels were fraying at the edges and should be replaced.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect; it's right across the street from the cathedral in the city center with lots of shops and restaurants within two blocks and also within walking distance to the river. Another plus is that the buffet breakfast was more than plentiful [breads, French pastries, fruit, cheeses, etc.] and delicious for a modest additional cost. Metz isn't always listed in travel guides but that's their mistake!
Cons: We stayed in the hotel annex [2 doors down] which has no elevator and the stairs would be a difficult climb for some people. The hotel's signage is obscure and we ended up driving "around the block" 3 times before spotting it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved this place. Very Central. Beautiful historic boutique hotel. Staff was wonderful. Highly recommended. Hotel arranged for parking discount.
Cons: That we only booked for one day. Can not say anything bad about this hotel.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Cute rooms and perfect location. Very nice breakfast spread especially the huge selection of fruit.
Cons: Steep stairs to our room - be prepared!

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good views from the room, and good quality/ cleanliness for the price.
Cons: Reception not very well staffed - had to wait for about 15 minutes to checked out as no staff member was present. Also would have been nice to have a kettle in the room.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable bed - hard to find something that isn't so soft that it sinks the minute you touch it. Helpful, friendly staff Very clean Quiet
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was more than I expected, very clean, beautiful and spacious compared with other hotels in Europe. Close to the train station and the centre of the town.Definitely value for money!
6.7 Good
Pros: Very close to the city center and train station. Very nice stuff
Cons: The dust on the head of the bed was full of dust, the towels had spots that you could see in the natural light and the quantity of shower gel/shampoo was enough for less than half of the body. The second day after check-out at the same price we took a room in Paris, next to the Opera and super fancy.... Sorry to tell this, but I won't choose it again...
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice breakfast. Good location. Great value.
Cons: The single room is a bit small but for the price I can't really complain. A little bit old.

Cons: Room without air condition during summer time is not suitable for guest. Has to open window, then is noisy from the road and pub near by.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the stay in Bristol Hotel. The stuff was so friendly. The location is great. I'm coming back each time I visit Metz.
Cons: Only water wasn't warm enough for a shower.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room was decorated to a high standard. The location and the breakfast were both excellent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quite central, easy to walk to the city centre. would stay again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast, pan au chocolat was delicious!! Towels were abundant and room was super clean
3.0 Mediocre

Cons: Elevator smelled a bit.

Cons: That we only booked for one day. Can not say anything bad about this hotel.

Cons: Steep stairs to our room - be prepared!

9.6 Excellent
Pros: This hotel was basic, but extremely convenient for our short stay in Metz. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating as well.
Cons: The parking arrangement was a little inconvenient. Although the lot was close by, the discounted price required redeeming a voucher at the garage, which was not possible on one of the days of our stay, because the garage office is not continuously occupied.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Continental breakfast - self-serve. As a solo traveller I liked that there was a big TV in the breakfast room - allowing me to try and understand the news (in French, obviously), while eating. Location: Perfect. I was travelling by train so the location near the station was ideal. Also check-out was 12 noon. That was great because my train departed at 12.10.
Cons: Whilst my room was bright, nicely decorated and quiet, the entrance, reception area, staircase and corridors could do with some improvements to make the hotel more inviting.
2.9 Mediocre
Cons: We had to change rooms because we found bugs in the bed, I was doubled charged for “rate adjustment”.
4.2 Okay
Pros: O.K.
Cons: Everything. The hotel was very run down. The window in our room overlooked the garbage cans and trash. The halls smelled musty and like old rotting carpets. The elevator was inadequate and could only fit one person and bag at a time and we had to wait for a 20 min. to use this service.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Near lots of restaurants, the train station was across the street. Had a window facing the train station and the water tower. Thank you it was lovely to look out.
Cons: Hot water service for tea or coffee in room would be a lovely addition.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location is perfect and price is also very reasonable.
Cons: Parking facility is something which is missing.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very good location
