Pros: Location excellent - middle of the old city. Lovely to have breakfast outside in the small square.... weather permitting.
Cons: location size of room
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed our 3 nights at Palazzo Dipinto. The hotel is very comfortable and well located, without being in the busy areas within the Lucca old town. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Cons: While the breakfast was fine for us, it was a relatively basic selection.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, luxurious environment, lovely breakfast, great staff
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location is smack in the centro storico. The hotel is very clean and the bed very comfortable; air conditioning works quietly, nice bathroom. Bfast was simple but good quality.
Cons: Getting to the hotel by car is not easy, gps gets confused as we are. However, the staff at reception was helpful in navigating the streets for us q’s we drive to the hotel.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Pleasant hosts, wonderful breakfast and setting, beautiful bedrooms with cozy bed, location is fantastic.
Cons: Not a dislike, tricky to find on map apps, make sure to enter the right Notolini.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We borrowed the bikes and loved seeing Lucca that way.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Close to the old city and the train station. Great shower and comfortable pillows.
Cons: There is construction on the main rode to the b&b so Google maps took me in directions that were closed off. So when I contacted the owner I felt he was abit annoyed with me. But it was neather of our faults. Im a vegetarian so when I ate breakfast I didn't get anything different from others. No cheese or vegetables. It's an old building so you hear the pipes when they are being used.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, short walk to the old town
Cons: A little bit of noise since it’s on a somewhat busy road
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We liked absolutely everything!! All was perfect - the location, the fact that it was easy to park the car (which is not a given in Lucca), the comfort, elegance and cleanliness of the rooms, the tranquility, the breakfast, the abundance of information booklets about the region. The host Signora Giovanna was beyond hospitable, she really made us feel at home and even helped me to practice my Italian. One of the highlights was the breakfast - quality, fresh, local produce, very abundant portions which kept us full almost till the dinner time. The rooms were warm and cozy, in fact it was the only warm stay during our 10-day trip in Tuscany (many other hosts kept their heaters only luke warm). Overall, we were very happy with the stay, will come back if we are again in Lucca, and will recommend this place to our friends without reservation!
Cons: N/A

Cons: nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel located in the old town, and you will need ZTL-permission. You need to notify the hotel about this before arrival: by the way, they will tell you how to get there. It's very difficult to find a hotel without instructions. Parking is right 20 meters. 15 EUR/day. The hotel is unique. The rooms are not numbered, each is named after a specific flower. We had Iris, Gardenia and Primrose. The rooms are clean, the cleaning is not bad, there is one complaint about bedding - there are no duvet covers in case-form, there are just sheets, as such, but this is a common problem for all of Italy, with rare exceptions. The standard pillows didn’t suit me, but others that were found in the closet fit so perfectly in size, in softness, in all respects, that I bought a couple of the same ones. By the way, right there at the hotel, I bought cheese Pecorino which we ate for breakfast, is delicious. There is no hot meal at breakfast - only toasts and boiled eggs, but for 2-3 days it’s no problem. It is better to ask for coffee to be prepared - standard, in a coffee pot on the table there is one that is somehow not very. Fresh juices you need to do yourself - for this everything is provided, you need only some skill and a little practice. The staff is very friendly. Any requests, wishes, comments - they will try to do everything in the best possible way. Be sure to check out the local wine tasting at the hotel. I would also recommend visiting a restaurant, where I mark their cheesecake. In the bathrooms, everything is good - a shower, a bidet, a bath, everything is in place, there is even a TV. It is quite possible to drink tap water. I was somewhat annoyed by the translucent curtains on the windows in the bathroom, directly opposite were the windows of a residential building. The rooms have shutters with rather peculiar closing appliance, but there was no shutter in the bathroom. Once again, this hotel is unusual. With own spirit, with own unique atmosphere.
Cons: I note that there is no elevator, if there are no male-staff at the reception, may be problems with lifting heavy luggage to upstairs. Soundproofing isn't very well. It will be especially annoying for those who sleep late: cleaning and garbage-truck begin to work early and from 6 a.m. all this is clearly audible even through completely closed windows. They use air fresheners with flavorings, we turned off it in our rooms because obsessive smell. Some rooms don't have radiators - have to be heated with air conditioning. Sometimes vintage style is overly, but this is only my opinion.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was very delicious, we stayed several hotels in Italy, this hotel breakfast offers the best quality.
Cons: Due to our room was faced to the street, the noise from Street garbage picking up early morning disturbed our sleep.

Pros: The breakfast was wonderful. The location was excellent. The room was very comfortable.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: A Lovely unique Italian B & B with a nice atmosphere and a warm welcome The location was perfect and the hosts were very kind and helpful The room was comfortable Bottled water and tea/coffee making facilities in the room much appreciated Wonderful coffee and a nice continental style breakfast with eggs cooked to order was provided each morning.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were helpful and friendly, the breakfast was lovely, the room was clean and comfortable (with kettle and tea/coffee provided) and the location was excellent. We loved the Puccini opera names for the rooms.
Cons: It was all good as far as we are concerned
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I booked a standard double room but we were pleasantly surprised that we got a suite, with living room, terrace and a spacious bathroom.
7.0 Good
Pros: The location of this hotel is wonderful; right in the centre and near San Frediano. It's in a lovely character building and the rooms were cleaned every day to an impeccable standard. The made to order eggs and coffee in the morning was great as was the man who served us; so friendly and helpful. This place has a lot of potential.
Cons: Unfortunately, we really didn't sleep well for the majority of our stay. Our room looked onto the back of a restaurant where they would clean plates until 1am. One night there was hammering/construction work until gone 1am and another night very loud music until around 2am. Even with the window and shutters down, it was too noisy to sleep. I did raise the drilling noise with the owner after the first night but not sure if anything was done. The other issues we had were with the bathroom; the shower was hand-held as the overhead shower head wasn't working, so we were essentially washing with one hand. The bathroom on the whole was very basic and in need of modernising. I also didn't like how towels are only replenished every 3 days. The other thing is there is never really anyone at reception if you need something or if something goes wrong.
6.7 Good
Pros: The staff were very nice, but many amenities were not as advertised. The breakfast was good and the location is excellent.
Cons: It is not a hotel, just a bed a breakfast. There was no onsite or sponsored parking. There was no air conditioning, and the toilet could not handle toilet paper, requiring you to leave unsanitary paper in the bathroom trash.

Excellent!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing spacious room, beautiful bathroom. Breakfast next to the pool. Tennis court! Premises where you can spend half a day just watching and listening to birds. Very kind stuff, everyone local. The place is historical
Cons: The place has a restaurant that is open from 7 to 9, and it is very convenient for people with kids so you don't think about logistics and late dining. But it could be definitely improved.

Pros: The location is close to restraunts and shopping. It is quite a walk from the train station. Take a cab.
Cons: The electricity and plumbing are old and don't work well. It was extremely hot and too loud to sleep with the window open. Hotel Da Carlos - Lucca - Building

Overview Reviews
Located in Lucca, Hotel Da Carlos is within a 15-minute drive of Cathedral of Pisa and Museo dell'Opera del Duomo. Featured amenities include multilingual staff, luggage storage, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
7.9 Good
Pros: The host is one of the most helpful and kind people I have see in Italy! He explained everything that he thought would be useful for our trip and then some :) Free parking, where to see, etc. He also makes great cappuccino for breakfast. They also had right out-of-the-oven croissants for breakfast, which we later realized was a rare offering at hotels in Italy. The location is great, right between Pisa and Lucca, but I don't it would be very convenient without a car (we had one). The hotel has free parking. It also has a restaurant but we didn't get a chance to try it.
Cons: The rooms were not very comfortable, mainly due to the thin walls between rooms. Our neighbours were talking loud until very late.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nothing was too much trouble!! VERY clean and comfortable. Had dinner on the first night and it was exceptional
Cons: No tea making facilities in the room ....however that's just us being English....however I am sure it would have been provided if we'd asked!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was close to the city and it was also accessible to the beach. We got a generous breakfast.
Cons: The internet sometimes weakened.
7.9 Good
Pros: Lovely hotel with great staff and good clean rooms with large beds. The manager was an absolute gentleman, twice he personally dropped me off to my friend's apartment - not THAT is service! Love Italy anyway but this place has elevated the place to a new high.
Cons: One slight negative (which is not a reflection on the hotel per se) is it is a bit of a distance from Lucca city centre and taxis are not cheap nor are they abundant.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very helpful and of course Graziano
7.9 Good
Pros: Location is smack in the middle between Lucca and Pisa. Super easy to get to both but must have a car.
Cons: Place was pretty dated but sufficed for I one night while driving through town. Pulled into Lucca for the day then stayed at Carlos, then drove to Pisa the next day and then headed out of town.

Pros: We loved everything!! This beautiful house makes you feel as if going back in time, full of antiques from all over the world, lovely details in every room. Extremely comfortable, spotless and cozy rooms, beautiful views everywhere. Waking up in the morning, listening to the countryside's peaceful sounds, taking a first look out of the window to the mountains… perfect inspiration to begin a new day! And then, WOWWW, the breakfast Marta magically prepares with Angelica?? Awesome!! Imagine a gourmet selection, with some new surprise every day… coffee is strong Italian coffee, soooo good!! Just enjoy and good luck in getting on your way ('cause you'll just want to sit in that beautiful room full of windows out into the sooo well tended gardens, enjoying that breakfast made of dreams… ;-) Excelent location in Tuscany, easy to access the roads or to just drive aroung locally. Absolutely recommend and will go again!
