8.8 Excellent
Pros: Close to the old city and the train station. Great shower and comfortable pillows.
Cons: There is construction on the main rode to the b&b so Google maps took me in directions that were closed off. So when I contacted the owner I felt he was abit annoyed with me. But it was neather of our faults. Im a vegetarian so when I ate breakfast I didn't get anything different from others. No cheese or vegetables. It's an old building so you hear the pipes when they are being used.

Cons: Thought the price was expensive, but typical for the location and time of year. Parking was expensive at €15 per day. Although there was the option to park outside the city walls and then walk in, I don’t know how easy it would have been to find a space. The beds and pillows are quite hard. The air con unit was very noisy so we didn’t use it at night, although it was hot.

Pros: This is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places to stay outside of Lucca. The food was top notch, the pool and grounds were very relaxing, and the room was comfortable and quiet. We loved everything about our decision to stay here, even without a rental car.
Cons: The only potential downside is that it's about 3 miles outside of Lucca's city walls and the train station. We didn't mind this, as we wanted it to be a bit remote, but it's much more easily accessible with a car.

From the floors to the furniture, everything was absolutely beautiful. We had a room on the top floor with a view over the valley - absolutely stunning! The restaurant is tiny but the food was great. One of the best hotels I have stayed at, better than some that cost 3 times as much.

Cons: The mattress was too soft for us.

Cons: At the check in we were informed that we have to stay in one room that night and then change the next day due to a problem on the booking. It was a little bit bad because we were traveling with our 6month old daughter and the logistics are different and more difficult. That upset us a little. Also that room (although a superior one, because it had a balcony) was not ready for us since it was not totally clean and there was no bathrobes and slippers (has there was in the other room next morning).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff, food, location and view :) awesome place.
Cons: Pool was a bit cold and not available most of the day that we stayed there due to the rain day before

Pros: Great location just inside the walls. Parking was easy and a priority for us, travelling with a 9 yr old. We stayed in a family room in the annex across the road. Lots of space there. Staff were excellent.
Cons: Free booze at the buffet near reception tends to attract the wrong crowd...

9.4 Excellent
Pros: Convenient to all the major sights and restaurants within easy walking distance. We walked too and from the train station...although easier to go to the station than initially to the hotel. You will have to carry bags up the rampart on going, but all down hill on departure. The hotel staff was most helpful, made several dinner reservations and we were always greeted with a smile and good day. The morning breakfast was delicious and a great way to start the day of sightseeing with a hearty breakfast.

Pros: the staff were great made effort to solve problems when they could. great location good breakfast to start the day. great ambience when we were there the weather perfect beautiful greenery fun to have a glass of wine before venturing out
Cons: don't get assigned to room101 because you will be up at 5:30 while they are in the process of preparing your breakfast. the clients should be a little more careful when leaving the rooms door slamming can be irritating
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the Annex building room 14 which is 1.5 blocks from the main building. Our room was spacious and clean, with a firm King bed. The main building has free refreshments available all day long, and a happy hour with free Prosecco and beer 5-7. We also liked one could make his/her own Aperol Spritz for a mere 4 euros. A good opportunity to meet and converse with fellow travelers. The hotel is a short walk away from the main piazza and inside the walled city ring. The breakfast was good if not exceptional. Would only stay here if we ever return to Lucca!
Cons: Not much. We stayed in 10 different hotels during our recent Italy trip, i consider this hotel no. 2 of 10, only behind Hotel du Lac in Bellagio, which won out based on its sweeping lake views. The price was a little steep at E243 per night, but a good value considering all the amenities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ilaria and Francesco, both, spoke excellent English and were extremely helpful. The property was beautiful. All of the staff, including housekeeping and the breakfast staff were wonderful and very friendly. It was one of the best parts of our vacation. We stayed in a suite, with a loft bedroom and second bathroom. It was gorgeous. Then we moved to an upgraded room that was lovely. Both were off of the main building but were very close to it. We were very pleased. The bicycles were free and in great shape.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was large, modern, recognition, clean, and beautiful. Entire staff was wonderful.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent concierge - very helpful.
Cons: Pillows like goldilocks and the three bears porridge - one too hard, one too soft, none just right

2.5 Mediocre
Pros: The location is close to restraunts and shopping. It is quite a walk from the train station. Take a cab.
Cons: The electricity and plumbing are old and don't work well. It was extremely hot and too loud to sleep with the window open. They said we couldn't turn on the air conditioning and didn't offer a fan. We were up all night hearing the people above us. The complimentary breakfast gave us food poisoning.

Pros: Mario the business owner was beyond friendly, efficient and informative. Breakfasts were feasts of hot and cold food well beyond the usual continental breakfast. An elevator was also a welcome surprise in this old palazzo.

Pros: My husband and I stayed for one week, and can't recommend this hotel highly enough! Every member of staff we came across was so friendly and helpful, and most spoke very good English. The breakfast was excellent - a good selection of hot and cold buffet items that we enjoyed eating on the beautiful outside terrace. The pool area is perfect - very clean and always sunbeds and chairs available whilst we were there. Rooms are comfortable and cleaned to a high standard daily, the air con was a huge plus for us! Beautiful and easy walk (5-10 mins) to the walls of Lucca. We didn't feel we needed a car with us as we enjoyed exploring Lucca so much on foot, but on the occasions that we needed a lift (to the train station) the reception staff kindly arranged taxis for us. They also have bikes available to hire which would be another great option for exploring the walls of Lucca. We will definitely be returning to Hotel San Marco, and can't wait already!
Cons: Nothing - we loved the hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the staff were really nice and friendly, the chamber maids very hard working, the reception recommended great family run typical italian restaurants round the corner, which were very good value also. loved hiring the bikes even though at some nights we walked into Lucca. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: A lovely hotel in the perfect location opposite the walls of beautiful Lucca. All the staff were friendly and helpful and we were delighted to find a bottle of complimentary bubbles in our room to help two of us celebrate 60th birthdays. We had small double rooms which were cosy but well equipped with good size bathrooms. We knew they were small when we booked so no complaints. We would have chosen larger rooms but they were already taken. We'll book earlier next time. It takes just a few minutes gentle stroll to get inside (or on to) the walls of the city. The free bikes were a bonus. Breakfast was very good. Lovely fresh fruit and baked goods along with the usual continental cheeses and meats. They even have Twinings English Breakfast teabags! We will definitely stay at Albergo Celide when we return to lovely Lucca

Room was of a good standard - comfortable and clean with aircon. Breakfast was also great with decent choice and quality. We did not eat in the restaurant but we loved the bar next door (Bar Celide) and early evening provides a superb aperitivo buffet complimentary when you buy drinks.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was well stocked continental, location is right outside the walls of Lucca which is perfect for exploring. Also a 5 minute walk from train station. Free bike hire is a massive bonus

5.0 Okay
Cons: Location just on highway, rooms super small, no place to put a luggage, beds are hard and no extra blankets, balcony one foot wide. You can walk to old city, but along highway, smell the gasoline of passing by trans. Advise, find a better place.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff very friendly and helpful. Good choice at breakfast. Room and bathroom clean. Quiet. Free parking.
Cons: Room little tired looking and small.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect, so close to the walls. And the breakfast was really complete. The best hotel during the whole stay in Tuscany
Cons: It was great! The staff recommended a great Osteria to have dinner. So kind and great food too.

Pros: Not much
Cons: One or two of the staff need to learn how to speak nicely to there customer's. Very rude.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good location @ 10 minute walk into Old Town .A couple of bars and a McDonalds just a 3 minute walk. Staff very efficient and pleasant.
Cons: Taxi from Pisa airport to Hotel took @ 20 minutes and cost €80 . Lucca has only 25 taxis so you have little choice.
6.3 Good
Pros: Staff lovely very helpful with taxis, hotel its self very clean including the outdated room.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is excellent. Staff were all lovely. We stayed for 8 days and all very friendly with nothing to much trouble. Room was perfect. Continental breakfast very good. 10 minute walk to the City wall. What more can I say. Would definitely recommend. Try out The Old City Cafe inside the city wall. Brilliant
Cons: WiFi was a bit slow at times.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Leaving.
Cons: Tourists are recommended to avoid this hotel . It is ugly, located on a 4 lane highway, on the opposite side to the old town, and next to a petrol station. As a result we had a number of questions about how to get to the town in 30c weather, and the initial reception was very rude ( Reception Manager). &Quot;Impossible to park car, no taxis". Reception provided no information on how to walk etc. When we expressed an interest in cancelling we were advised to check the status of the booking online, and given "5 minutes in the hotel foyer to decide". Napoleon management are probably trained in the prison service. The room booked was tiny and we upgraded for Euro 20 per night. In the event the traffic noise was unbearable in the room after 5am. Avoid this hotel!!!
4.2 Okay
Pros: The hotel is listed as 4 star, but I would say it is a 3 star at best. The bath had a crack in it, there was no shower curtain and the water pressure was poor.
