Pros: The property is relatively close to Shosenkyo Gorge - we made the drive in about 20 minutes. The staff is incredibly gratitude and courteous! At 8:00 PM, the lobby area turns into a lounge for karaoke and serves spirits and beer, which we really liked. The breakfast is worth the ¥1000 yen - it included regional hoto udon, rice, salmon, tofu, fruit, and vegetables! Onsens are clean and relaxing - ryokan has indoor and outdoor for female, as well as males,....and they switch sides daily so that each get use of the hotter sauna. Food is provided on the lanai to feed the koi fish in the garden pond. Ryokan has ample, free parking.

Cons: Room is too small for a family of four. The dining area is just like a school canteen without any privacy at all. Especially when we had our breakfast, there was a tour group of some 25 people from China seating next to you. It was noisy and messy.

Cons: Interior is dated, but we commonly find this for older, traditional ryokans. If you want one that is pristine, then go to a modern ryokan that is pricier. Garden pond is murky, much unlike the clear water we typically encounter for koi ponds. The fish and turtles don’t seem to care, though. The garden was also a little unkempt for Japanese standards. You’ll need to take a cab from Kofu Station since it is a bit of a distance, but we drove so not an issue for us.

Pros: The best thing about this hotel is its onsen (hot spa). It's just exceptionally good considering it is a standard hotel in the city centre, not a spa resort. It even has an open air bath (rotenburo) on the top floor of the hotel. Hotel is generally excellent, centre location, lots of attraction in the city is within walking distance. They serve free soba noodle soup at night, a very pleasant midnight snack, what an excellent idea. The breakfast is very good, abundant, delicious, great variety of Japanese specialties. Very helpful, attentive staff. Children friendly place.

Cons: The breakfast was not as nice as another Dormy Inn we stayed at so that was somewhat disappointing.I don't think it was really worth what we paid for it. Parking was 1000 yen instead of the 800 yen advertised and it is also now connected to the hotel. The listing has not been updated to reflect those items.

Cons: I think they put all the money into renovating the lobby area. The upper floor (7th floor) was dated. The beds and room facilities were ok but it is the noise that ruined our stay here. We got a room that was facing the police office. We could hear ALL the sirens and cars during the night so we didn't have a good sleep. It was like sleeping with an open window but it was closed! The staff hardly speaks any English.

Stiff beds with 1 pillow, no outlets to charge electronics near beds. TV cost extra, terrible wifi. Ugly room. Will definitely not be returning.

Pros: Very clean room, hallway, elevators, lobby, and restaurant. excellent reception staff who helped me have a cab return to pick me up at a location I was dropped off at earlier because I had no cellphone to call a cab and found info about the hours of operation of the place —-the city zoo—-I had to visit on this trip. Thought I could walk from the station, but taxi much easier and very reasonable. Simple breakfast included. Various baked goods, fruit juice of choice, hot soup, and tea or coffee. Very nicely organized, clean, and enjoyable in their simply appointed restaurant near the lobby. I will definitely stay here on my next trip back to Kofu. Excellent value in the opinion of a senior citizen who speaks very little Japanese.Nothing.

I loved that the bed was supported and comfortable with a western pillow standard. The room was small and well designed so I could easily open and unpack my luggage. Also the check out was generous to allow 11AM check out, some hotels are 9AM.

I've stayed in a lot of crummy hotels in Japan and throughout the world. This place isn't bad.
