Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were compact and included everything needed. The spare toilet in the lobby was also great.
Kitchen area could have included more table space to make food as well as small knives to eat with.
Good location not far from the station.
Room was quite smelly and bathroom felt dated and not very clean.
This is my second time to use Bacchus guesthouse. facilities are more organized than the last time I used here. Staff here ware always friendly.
you can open the window in the dorm. has a slight squat feel in the halls, has potential if the owner gets some energy and empathy.
Roof terrace closed. Super tiny "wipe" bathroom inside dormitory. Bad aircon. Seemed to cram one dorm inspite of being very, very quiet. Owners friends, I guess, "checking in" very late in the dorm for what i assume is the price I paid. Cliquish group of sycophants around, yet another, daddy's-boy owner. Felt like a money tool. Located off one block on google maps further up the main street. crappy microwave.
The staff at Bacchus made me feel more welcome than I could have ever expected. My Japanese at this point is at what I've heard called "survival" level, and the staff here spoke excellent English and were able to guide me to sight-seeing and restaurants in the area. An easy walk from Kofu station, Bacchus is 5 minutes from wherever you could possibly want to be. But, why would you want to leave? I spent a half-hour walking around looking for breakfast, finally settling on some prepackaged food from the Lawson's by the station, and when I walked back to the hostel the staff there invited me to join them for a traditional Japanese breakfast, the whole works: rice, miso, natto (yum!), eggs, and for my vegetarian/pescatarian self, some stir-fried octopus and mushrooms. I've never been treated with such hospitality at -any- establishment before, and it's something I'll remember for a long time. The bar at the hostel, open after 18:00, is probably the cheapest you'll find, and it's frequented by local Japanese who will happily and cheerfully drink, smoke, and speak Japanese with you. I plan on directing my friends to Bacchus when they come to visit Kofu, and I'll be back there just to drink with the friends I made. Thank you so much to the staff at Bacchus. - Kyle
