My only two complaints are that I paid a huge premium at about 100 a day, that is crazy for a standard vehicle, and that there is some disconnect between the main number people and the local rental desk. You get a rental and confirm number but then go to the airport desk and there is no car. This kept happening, I had to go twice without getting a car, and the local person insisted there were no same day rentals and no cars. This was contradicted by the person on the phone, who insisted they did have cars and did do same day rentals. It is a huge hassle and there were a lot of bruised feelings on both sides, because people don't accept that (not how this works generally) and I witnessed heated interchanges and experienced some snappiness myself. Why aren't they on the same page? What has to happen for the local inventory to be reflected accurately at the main office? If you have a confirmation number you are entitled to a car and this system just causes the local person to endure negative feedback. Otherwise I had a good rental experience, the car was clean and easy to get and return. I was met in the parking area by Quinn who handles cleaning the return cars and it was very smooth.

The customer service agent was rude and refused to rent us a van that we were told was available the day before. She was also argumentative l. I got the face mask like she asked. When she refused to assist me with an already scheduled rental I went to get the face mask like she asked. While waiting I noticed others weee being assisted without face masks. All I said was that others didn’t have their mask on. She responded to me that they had medical conditions and that I didn’t tell her that I had a medical condition.. Then she said it was to early for this and all I said was that I agree. Then she slid my stuff back across the counter a second time and I said have a good day. I am 53 years old. She didn’t even respect me being older nor respected me as a customer at all. So my wife goes in and she assists her and come to find out they rented the van out the day before at the same day we weee promised the van. When the customer service agent found out that was my wife she then, REFUSED her service because of being connected to me. I have been in customer service since I was 18 started working for Dominoes and still am in customer service. I would have been FIRED if I treated not only one but 2 customers like that. Another customer behind my wife also complained to the customer service agent for not answering the phones. The customer had tried several times to call in before driving in. When I called to complain to Budget they did nothing. All I said was that I agree after she kept saying it was to early for this.. and that sets her off? This was at the HILTON HEAD AIRPORT. The Budget office located inside.

When I arrived to pick up the car, I was under the impression that I could pick it up anytime after my scheduled time. Apparently there is only a 1 hour window of the time selected (which I believed to be arbitrary since you pay by the day), after which your reservation is canceled. I found no verbiage on this in any of the fine print on the website. When picking up they also didn't mention anything about a $200 security deposit required, and so I thought that I had been scammed because I 'missed' this 1 hour window. Car worked well and was clean, just the pick up part was awful.

Nothing! Flight was delayed, so I was not able to pick up my car before the rental counter closed. When I went to pick up the car the next day, they would not honor the price I was giving through Kayak, the price changed from $285 to $900. I tried multiple times the day I was supposed to arrive to notify them that I would be late, but the phone was disconnected. When I asked the counter person, they said that the bill wasn't paid, and that's why I could not get through!Head Hilton rental counter is extremely unprofessional, and I would not consider it a "business setting". Personal at the counter and cleaning/service were not in uniform. Counter said that she was going to call someone about my price change, but was definitely not on the phone long enough to talk with someone. Probably because the phone was still offline, from the bill not being paid!

Staff was helpful, quick, and friendly. Probably the best of any car rental counter I've ever used!Hilton Head Island airport parking lot is free and unattended, but signage isn't great. I took the long way around to exit the lot. Of course, there "the long way around" is an extra 200 feet! :-) That is not the fault of Budget.

Wring car, didnt care, no discount, then the crappy wrong car had NO GAS in the tank. Took it back next day ans went with Avis. Now i am still being billed for Hertz.

I was told there was no car available for me and that I could wait to see if they had anything the next day. Then they were shocked i wanted to cancel the reservation. I had planned a cross country trip and needed to leave early in the morning the next day. So I was left scrambling to find another car from another business. Luckily the Budget counter had something for me and they were able to help me out. Now I know to go to Budget instead of Hertz in the future.

I learned NEVER TO PREPAY for a carDiane from the airport Savannah/Hilton Head was awesome! She helped me figure out an option when I realized that I reserved the rental car through the wrong airport. She helped me remain calm and found us a minivan that would accommodate my large family & our luggage.Unfortunately, I learned that if you accidentally order a car and pay in advance..and accidentally book the wrong airport (there are 2 Hilton head labeled airports), you cannot transfer any of the prepaid car to the new location. I paid in full for 5 days and Hertz said it's a locked in deal so they wouldn't honor even a discount. So, I had to pay for 2 vehicles on my trip. Completely, not cool.

No car available and poor customer service handling itNothing.I was unable to get car because the rep said none were available. He said because I had a debit card he couldn't rent me one even if he had one because they don't except debit as payment without a deposit. When I said I was ok with the deposit he said it didn't matter because the payment couldn't be made using a debit card. When I showed him hertz had already charged my account for the rental he told me to take it up with kayak. I left without a car and called hertz twice explaining the situation and both times I was told I'd receive a refund. The first time I received a credit which was then again debited from my account 2 days later. The second time has resulted in nothing. I get the debit card policy but this was handled poorly from the start and I'm out $65 with no reasonable explanation or response.

Buy your car insurance online beforehandGreat car, easy check in/check out, good price.The car insurance was sooooooo expensive, more than the rental car itself. Usually I purchase the insurance before I pick up the rental, but this time I forgot and boy did I pay. Also, I was 45 minutes late with my return so I got charged for another day of insurance. They got me good.

TerribleI made a reservation and specifically asked there was a car available on the phone while speaking to a person, not the computer, but when I arrived to pick my car up there was not a car there!!! When I questioned the attendant, he said there was nothing he could do for me. Consequently, I ended up spending over $100.00 more than I should have because another rental (Hertz) said they only had a van. I believe this should be Alamo'so responsibility. I also believe the attendant could have been much more helpful! He at least could have checked with all the other rental companies to see if there was a cheaper option. I would really like a response!!!

Young Driver FeeI am 24 so I accept that I needed to pay an extra fee. However, when I booked, I correctly input my age. I was not charged the fee until I actually picked up the car which I found frustrating. Also, there was no cruise control.

HHI Airport rental car nightmare.Huge line. Booked few hours earlier but they had no record of my booking. Had to wait for clerk to call her manager, leave a voice mail, then wait for him to call back in order to get a car. Didn't get the car I wanted. Didn't get a receipt, temporary registration, or any documentation from Alamo or Kayak. Initially told car had a full tank but was only half full. The clerk also told me the insurance I bought through Allianz didn't cover damage to the car despite that being incorrect, then she charged be for Alamo insurance without my consent which I had to call to get a charge back a few days later to correct. Terrible experience.

They were short staffed so we waited in line over an hour to pick up our car. Phoenicia was wonderful however when we realized I had booked the car at the wrong airport. She was able to cancel the reservation and rebook us in a brand new car.

Got to terminal representative, and, “No cars” That’s right -$40 Uber ride. No cars. Did not care. Said maybe Budget has cars…. Not what I wanted from my “reservation”. No cars. Never again.

Final bill was higher than the highest estimate and no explanation was offered. The bill should have been at the base rate with taxes/fees. I had to call days later for a breakdown of final charges. Vehicle was ready as promised (even early) and very clean. Pickup and drop off was very easy.

Never Use ThemNothingFailed to have my reserved vehicle causing me to rent a car from another company at 10 times the original rental rate. Not $10. Orders of magnitude. Then demonstrated no concern over not having vehicle. Should be sued by the attorney general.

FAIL!Nothing.The Thrifty agent was not there, so I was stuck without a car and I was trying to make a flight at a different airport. I had to rent a more expensive car at Hertz in order to make the flight. This was awful, and I am going to contact Thrifty reimburse me.

Not happy with carCar ready when I arrive. Quick return.There was no cruise control. This was not stated to me at check-in. Yet the agent asked where I am going. I was traveling over 800 miles in 2 days. The agent asked me about other things. The brakes pulled a little. Gas mileage on an small car was not great. There was a refundable $200 deposit that was never told to me before I booked the car. They had my credit card. Why do they hold $200. I am not a new driver. Had better experience with other car rental companies in the past.
