Pros: Hotel is located in the centre near pedestrian streets. It is very modern, aware of the environment (recycling facilities on each floor). Room is basic, bed and bathroom, no luxuries, no decoration. However, the staff was friendly and helpful. Gave me an electric heater when I was cold (as central heating could not be turned up). Breakfast was delicious with a variety of drinks and food, cold and cooked. There was a nice lounge to sit during the day, and you could get snacks in the evening.

Pros: The hotel exceeds all expectations -- everything is just perfect: The building itself is very interesting, and both the room and the bathroom are very clean and spacious and have got all the amenities a good hotel should provide. I also liked the little gym and the sauna downstairs. The breakfast buffet is simply wonderful, and the breakfast is served until noon (!) on Sundays. Late check-out (until 6 PM) on Sundays is also a big bonus :-) The staff are all very nice and helpful!

Loved the artwork in the bar and our bedroom had a high wooden period featured ceiling, plus Christian Lacroix cushions on the bed. The Bishops Arms pub accessed directly from the hotel was a great feature. We ate there twice as the food was so good and reasonably priced. Breakfast provided a varied choice and the breakfast waiter from Edinburgh helped us so much with our tourist related questions and think he’s a great asset to the hotel staff.

Cons: Room was comfortable but felt a bit small. I couldn’t help to notice a lot of marks on the walls (from moving furniture) and a number of stains on the carpet. Wish we had a street view, but our rooftop window wasn’t bad. I was a bit surprised that the hotel bar drinks could not be charged to the room (only for Elite Members I was told).

Pros: Stayed there for two nights. The room was very comfortable and quiet (facing an inner terrace). Even though the room was small (which was exactly as advertised), it has been recently renovated and includes lots of functionality (they've done a great job with the design of the space). The bathroom was big, very clean, and comfortable. Great free breakfast. Very professional and genuinely helpful staff. Overall, I would definitely recommend it.

Pros: Stayed there for two nights. The room was very comfortable and quiet (facing an inner terrace). Even though the room was small (which was exactly as advertised), it has been recently renovated and includes lots of functionality (they've done a great job with the design of the space). The bathroom was big, very clean, and comfortable. Great free breakfast. Very professional and genuinely helpful staff. Overall, I would definitely recommend it.

Pros: I had all kinds of equipment that I would need in my room, a shower kit, a soap, a huge bathrobe, an efficient hairdryer etc. The room is very clean with b&w modern style decorations and its surface is relatively big.

There are 70 bedrooms over 4 floors. Some with a view over Grnsakstorget and Floras Kulle, some facing the terrace. Some of them are on the loft while others are facing the vivid shopping street Sdra Larmgatan which easily takes you to the Magasinsgatan neighbourhood.The rooms draw from a wide range depending on your likes and needs.In a close and long term project with designer Rasmus Larsson/Design By Us, all or our rooms are decorated in different themes with mixed colors and a cool mixture of functional, modern trendy and vintage. Cons: No ventilation whatsoever on upper floors (rooms & corridors). Windows couldn’t be opened to mitigate this. Thankfully it was 3 degrees or lower outside at night and it didn’t pose much problem for us, but can’t imagine being here in the hotter seasons. Why doesn’t the a/c or heating work in the room? There’s a switch to adjust the temperature but it can’t be worked. Room service didn’t happen on the last night even when we specifically placed out the sign. Feedbacked to receptionist who mentioned that this has happened before and didn’t seem shocked (is this a frequent occurrence?!) but managed to get some fresh towels sent to our room within ~30mins. For such a long and pretty work desk in the room, there wasn’t a single plug that could be used. No where to charge your laptop etc if using at the desk. Only plugs available were by the bed - even the iron had to be plugged in there to use. No plugs near mirror for hair drying/styling - very poor for 4 star hotel. Parquet floors felt cold ish but I guess it’s a scandi thing? Bathroom only had 1 glass screen to separate the shower and caused much spillage onto the floor even with a slight ledge. Tho heated flooring meant that it dried faster than normal.

Cons: I got to the hotel late and I was tired . When I get to the room the room-key doesn't work so I need to make a trip back to reception. I asked for a 'quiet' room but at two o'clock in the morning I am disturbed by noisy neighbours opening and closing doors, footsteps on the wooden floors and also them bumping things against the wall between the rooms. NOT GOOD!

Cons: All the city is renovating and the hotel is just in the middle of all that. That makes the hotel a little hard to get to, trafic wise.
The hotel doesn't have a parking of it's own, they point you to a parking garage over the street. We managed to park on the out side parking next to the terminal, which was a little more closser.
The room was smelling bad. You can't open the windows to let it refresh.
The bathroom was very small and the water from the shower is not draining well.

Cons: A little hard to find even relying on our google maps. There are many larger hotels in that area, including another Scandic. I think we would have struggled to find the little side street had we not enlisted the help of a passer by who happened to live around the corner. It should be explained that its on a side street over looking the railway tracks - although this is not an issue whatsoever.

Pros: The hotel was above average even though the rooms were basic, it had everything we needed. The staff was really nice and accommodating and even let us check in early. The breakfast blew us away. Every possible thing you could ever want for brunch and all included with your room. Well positioned in the city with lots of shopping and restaurants nearby.

Pros: Breakfast was fantastic, even when the hotel was at full capacity over the weekend. Food was replenished quickly and never felt too crowded. All staff was helpful and facilities were great for families. Restaurant was good, with a decent selection and good quality food being served. Sauna and jacuzzi were amazing after a long day out in the cold.
Cons: Room was much smaller than in the photos. Maybe a question of perspective or lens used, but it felt a bit cramped. Room wasn't cleaned for the duration of our stay. I do understand that a room doesn't need to be cleaned on a daily basis, unless you have some serious hygiene issues, but we stayed 4 nights, so would expect at least a change of towels. We did have the cleaning lady knock on our door on our second day, but it was 4pm, and we'd been out all day, so not an ideal time to clean the room, when we had been out since 9am.

Cons: We had a family room with pull down bunk beds and the room became quite a squeeze with x4 people. Beds a bit too soft for me, but that's personal preference. Room rather warm, even though we set it at it's lowest temp (18c) Again, personal preference.
Our hotel is easy to reach, close to public transport and the shopping streets. Many flexible facilities for meetings and recreational rooms in our relaxation suite.
Stay close by all the entertainment. Liseberg, Universeum and Scandinavium are all within walking distance. Round off your day with a delicious dinner in our restaurant.

Pros: The Hotel Riverton is in an excellent location for all the attractions of Gothenburg centre and very convenient for the Stena Line ferry to Denmark. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the breakfast is superb. Our room had a view of the harbour and the New Zealand out-fitted Bed was the most comfortable we have ever slept in. The pillows were incredible! The hotel has its own parking garage and the staff kindly let us leave our car there after checkout as we were catching a later ferry. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return again!

Cons: When booking, we were informed that there was some work being done to the reception area and that consequently the spa would be unavailable. We were on holiday but considered this wouldn’t be a problem for us. However, on checking in, we were informed that the noise from the building works would start at 8am. Not great when you’re on holiday. The building works affect the whole hotel and it is not possible to sleep given the vibrations through each room. On complaining, the staff are clearly instructed that they cannot do anything to help, which means that we left with a very sour taste in our mouths. If the note they had given us on booking had been more honest and informed us that the building works affected the whole hotel (we were on at least the sixth floor I think) then we would have at least had the opportunity to consider whether we would be awake at 8am anyway, or whether to go elsewhere. Given we had prepaid our room and the extent of the problem was not obvious until the following morning (at 8am), this was not helpful. Simply because of their approach to guest service, I would not recommend the hotel to anyone, even after the works are completed. But I would recommend the restaurant at the top - just stay elsewhere.

Cons: There was no information about the ongoing renovation of the main entrance which destroyed the whole hotel stay experience for us, because we needed to carry the suitcases and two baby strollers up the stairs to enter and exit the hotel from the side or from the fire exit every single time. The concierge helped us but his two hands were not enough.it's not something one looks forward to after long trip or day in the city with two babies. Another thing to complain about was cleaning of the room. We managed to get a stain on our double bed sheet but it wasn't changed after room service. Also the te and coffee was not refilled during the whole stay. Breakfast was OK and absolutely not great, it was in the hotels bar area because of the renovation of the restaurant I guess.
