Pros: Really friendly owner. The hotel is located next to one of the busstops of the sightseeing bus. Very nice onsen, you can use this one private.
Cons: We had a loft, so we had to climb upstairs to go to our bed. Not a problem for us, but if you are afraid of hights or a little bit older, this can cause you some problems.

Cons: None

Pros: The breakfast was very good. Although we did not get to see Mt Fuji due to weather conditions, the view would have been great from our bedroom window. We were assisted with baggage and it was very much appreciated.

I love the location - there were food options nearby, convenience store within range, and the lovely BnB is just minutes walk from the lakefront where one can just sit and admire the view. I’d highly recommend staying at Weekend Shuffle!

Pros: We really have a precious time there, even we have stayed there only one night. The owner is very helpful, giving us a lot for information for attractions & food. He took us to the local bus stop in the morning. The room was very clean and cozy, you can see Mt.Fuji from the window. Will visit there again for my next trip!!!

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The host was very friendly and helpful with good honest information. The breakfasts were the best we had in our 3 week stay in Japan.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Teppe was a brilliant host - continually looking for ways to help us make the most of our stay. The hot tub was great, so too were the local beers on sale of an evening in the lounge, and he even helped us order in some sushi in the evening. Breakfasts great. The property is wonderfully located close to the lakeshore. Just a pity that Fujisan decided to be coy during our stay - treating us only to a fleeting but nonetheless impressive glimpse. I would stay here again in a flash.
Cons: Our room was snug for four - but it had everything we needed. We also made good use of the lounge area.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Clean, comfortable and friendly stuff

Pros: The hotel gives you the genuine Japanese experience and is less pricey than a Ryokan. The staff are super friendly and take extra care to explain all the specific Jananese elements, like how to put on a yukata and encourage you to use everything.
Cons: The Japanese way of sitting on the floor is difficult for me due to arthritis.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a wonderful stay at Asafuji. The staff were so welcoming and excited to show us Japanese traditions. The view of Fuji from our room was incredible and the breakfast and dinner were both delicious and a very special experience. The onsen was perfect, again with an amazing view. The staff were always happy to help us with anything, including offering us a lift to and from Kawaguchiko station (which was otherwise a 15 minute walk with luggage). We hope we end up back at Asafuji again one day! Arigato gozaimass!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a beautiful hotel with lots to do. We enjoyed taking bikes around the lake!
Cons: Nothing...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hoshinoya Fuji was truly outstanding. At risk of sounding like a marketing person, this place is more of an experience than a hotel. The property is tucked into the mountains above Lake Kawaguchi, and our “cabin” had an immaculate, unimpeded view of Mount Fuji. I put cabin in quotes because I’ve spent my fair share of overnights in backcountry cabins. Hoshinoya Fuji playfully and luxuriously toys with the “glamping” verb throughout the property. Our cabin had a glorious bathroom with a soaking tub overlooking Mount Fuji, and a main room and balcony with a visually lovely blend of Japanese and Scandinavian minimalism. We spent a good chunk of our time on the balcony, stretched out on the queen bed sized cushioned bench and watching clouds play on the mountain. You could easily enjoy this hotel just for the food. We enjoyed multi-course meals in the dining hall that had a carefully curated blend of gourmet and simple dishes meant to excite your palette but leave you plenty sated. We signed up for a few “make your own dishes” meal experiences: smoking fish and nuts, grilling and assembling breakfast panini, hot cakes in cast iron pans, make it yourself champagne cocktails - the list of choices is fabulous. “Cloud Terrace” is a multi-level wooden deck that winds up the mountain side with cozy, serene spots to curl up with a book, play a card game, or just lounge and soak up the forest sights and sounds. At the top is a fire pit (complete with marshmallows for toasting) and an indoor cafe and library with coffee, tea and chocolates. The crown jewel of this property is the staff. A lovely group of men and women watch after the guests, and we enjoyed their outstanding service. We spent our second day at the property stuck inside during a typhoon, and the weather barely disappointed me, because Hoshinoya Fuji staff showered us with books, cappuccinos, games, snacks and an assortment of goodies to keep us entertained.

Pros: Service

Cons: Cannot thing of anything yet
5.8 Okay
Pros: The common area and kitchen.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I like the design of the hostel. Kinda Japanese traditional. The location is good to go around The Lake by renting a bike from the hostel. Staffs are sooooo friendly and helpful. They are always smile even you are so annoyed
Cons: But a bit convenient to take a bus coz u have to walk 1.5km to the bus and train station. There is no taxi on the road around this area. But you can ask hostel staff to help to call taxi (i didn’t try so not sure it work or not). There is nothing to eat at the hostel so you have to go out and find something.
10.0 Excellent

11
9.0 Excellent (1,020 reviews)
Overview Reviews

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Big room and nice set up
Cons: Too pricy
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: front desk employee, security guard and the cat! .. private onsen was nice but facilities outdated
Cons: sorry but this did not live up to expectations between the cost we paid for one night ( over 700 chf) the photos on booking. com which made it look nicer than it is and the location which has no charm at all.... we struggle to understand the costs...and dinner was not even included. The next morning we needed to leave early to depart before the typhoon and so could not have breakfast ( no gesture made about costs) . However, the redeeming factor was the staff ( front desk and security guard) who helped us get back to the train station and exceptionally gave us a free lift back.. which is normally strictly prohibited according to information in the rooms which was made very (too) cllear... this was one of the big disappointments in terms of accommodation in 2.5 weeks in Japan
4.6 Okay
Pros: The room itself was really quite beautiful
Cons: Oh many things, first off, it’s not an onsenji. That is not true . I had a small bath out in the garden, though lovely is not making up for the fact that this is not a bath house! There is NO view of Mount Fuji from anywhere on the property It is also quite far (I would say a twenty minute walk ) to the lake they say they are close to. They misrepresent what they are!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Dinner and breakfast are great. The room and private onsen are really wonderful. Staffs are very welcoming.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We stayed for just one night; it was fun to contrast the modern hotels of Tokyo with a more traditional onsen experience. Once you're inside, the property is incredibly tranquil and transmits a wonderful feeling of calm and relaxation. Service and staff are rather traditional, but warm. They stay out of your hair and do their best to leave you be. The futon bedding was super plush and comfortable - had a great night's sleep on the floor! And of course, having your own onsen right outside was a really fun bonus. The breakfast was incredibly abundant and really delicious - it was almost too much for such an early hour! I'd recommend the Japanese option for something more authentic, but the Western option was equally as appealing.
Cons: Overall, we liked our stay, but consider it to have been a rather pricey experience for what we got. The facilities, while all well-maintained and clean, are a little outdated at this point, with a bit of an 80s/90s feel. There is a newer wing of the hotel (which is where the restaurant is located), so perhaps the rooms located there are more contemporary while maintaining a traditional style and feel. Check-in and check-out times are very strict; note that staff will ring your doorbell unannounced the morning you're supposed to leave to take your credit card and secure payment! Having two TV's in the room seemed excessive; it would have been nice if they were either tucked away behind a screen or not there at all. While the hotel property itself is very quiet and peaceful, note that it's located at a rather big intersection. This won't affect your stay at the hotel per se, but if you're imagining a secluded or remote kind of set-up, you might be surprised when you pull up.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: A very beautiful resort onsen. We had an onsen suite which meant we had our own private onsen. It was wonderful to use as the nights were chilly. Loved it! The staff was excellent and spoke great English, which was quite helpful since our Japanese is very basic! We would stay here again!
7.5 Good
Pros: Absolutely stunning hotel - very classic Japanese
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in a suite with private onsen which was a special treat. Rooms were spacious and very clean, lovely traditional Japanese style. Kaiseki meal was fabulous and the restaurant was able to adapt all courses for my wife who didn’t eat fish. Nicely located for Kawaguchiko lake although you don’t get lake or Mt Fuji views from the hotel.
Cons: You have to eat dinner very early which means you are all done by about 8pm. The hotel has no bar so you have to go out for any further evening activities.

Pros: Great, pleasant stay They offer to drive you to any restaurant and pick you up. Free of charge Free rental bikes
Cons: Staff speaks almost no English A bit far off (can be a plus, very quiet) Breakfast was adventurous
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great. It felt like we were staying at someone’s home for a few days! The family were lovely and super attentive, who all went above and beyond to ensure we got the most out of our stay, and tailored our breakfast to suit our dietary requirements, making us feel like we were at a 5 star hotel at times. Thank you all very much for everything!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My husband, friends and I all looked to our overnight onsen experience as a highlight of our trip. Some of the points that made our visit so wonderful were: -Wonderful onsen experience -Helpful owners that went out of their way to make your stay memorable -Shuttle to the train station -Delicious homemade breakfast -Mix of Japanese and European style
Cons: Not really something I disliked, but be prepared for the owners not speaking much English. A few of my friends had some limited use of Japanese, which made things much smoother than they would have been otherwise.
7.9 Good
Pros: I came for the Fuji 5 Lakes Ultra. As there is no hotel plan available for overseas runners, I have to find a hotel closest to the start line so that I can walk to the start in the early morning. To my surprise, the lodge owner offered a ride to me which helped me greatly. Much appreciated.
Cons: I can't think of any for the moment.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Quiet setting, good breakfast, very friendly hosts, free use of city bicycles, laundrymat close by. Nice outdoor hot tub/Jacuzzi
Cons: The location is slightly out of town, but the hosts offer to drive you into town or local restaurants and pick you up so it wasn't a problem. This wasn't really a negative but just to make you aware that it is not in the center of town.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: This is a lovely place to stay. A characterful property, warm and cosy, in an idyllic setting. With limited English, the owner is helpful and courteous; facilities are acceptable, including a private Onsen. The rooms are of a very good size, clean and with all the necessities.
Cons: I made the mistake of forgetting my International Driving License and so couldn't rent a car - Don't make the same mistake, your own transport is an absolute must at this property!!!! The free pick-up and drop-off to/from the station is at very restricted times (to suit the owner). Communication with the hotel is quite limited but that could be due to the language barrier. Does not have a proper shower, just a handheld shower hose
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff were delightful - very friendly and helpful. They gave us a lift into the town, booked us a restaurant for dinner, and took us to the mid-winter fireworks display (we didn't know there was one).
7.9 Good
Pros: Staff were incredibly accommodating, picking us up from the station, driving us to Fuji Q and back and lending us torches. Very friendly and lovely even though they claimed to have poor English. Room was decent size, comfy and clean.
Cons: Our room was set up with two single beds, but may have just been an error with the booking I made. Although my husband and I didn't mind walking through the forest to get to some restaurants for dinner, it may bother some people.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Fancy breakfast with a thoughtful touch. And there’s a onsen room where we can soak a tired body with a hot spring. The interior and exterior design brought a european ambience which is very unique and full of character.
Cons: The staff cannot speak english. It’s bit hard to communicate but they had a pocket translator. The bed is hard and the pillow is minimalist. The location is in the woods. It’s not walking distance to the nearest shop or restaurant. But they are willing to pick up and drop off every day.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful Fuji view from the room, absolutely fantastic. The Onsen also shares great mountain view. The decoration has a little bit ages and old-fashion, but I like it. It feels like returning to the last century. The staffs were friendly and absolutely responsible, a high class Japanese standard.
Cons: The dinner was just OK, not as good as the room and other experience.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great views. We could spend hours sitting and watching Mt Fuji come and go with the weather. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The public baths are high quality with good views and facilities to continue relaxing. Brown tea dispensers and massage chairs are a welcome bonus.
Cons: Didn't seem to be an option to join dinners after check-in, more reliance on other restaurants and convenience shops.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Oh my goodness - we thoroughly enjoyed our time here! The staff were absolutely aMAZing - always anticipating needs and even moved the breakfast time for us when we had to depart early. And the breakfasts? Beautiful display of traditional Japanese foods. There was so much pride in it. :). We enjoyed the onsens and the massage chairs outside of the onsen rooms and utilized them each day we were there. Our rooms were provided with lovely kimono type robes for the onsens, too. While we were there, we were SO fortunate to have incredible weather and stunning views of Mt. Fuji. Wow. We walked from there to the ropeway and to the sightseeing boat and then even walked to the station. It was a bit far, but the weather was great and we were on an adventure!
Cons: I had read many reviews about the hotel being outdated, particularly for the price. It *is* an older hotel and it shows, and it was more expensive, but it reminded me of guest houses in Europe and the staff MORE than made up for the lack of plushness.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good service
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staffs are very nice. Breakfast and dinner are perfect. Fuji view onsen is the best.
Cons: Wifi is slow.
7.0 Good
Pros: Friendly and polite staff!
Cons: Seems there’s just very little mineral in the onsen...
9.6 Excellent
Pros: No complaints at all. Their staffs are one of the best I’ve met throughout my japan trip. Keep it up!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Felt rather special. Very friendly and helpful staff even by Japan's high friendly and helpful standards. Fabulous onsens (hot public baths) with great views (including of Mt Fuji, when it's not hiding behind clouds). Great location on the lake, excellent shuttle service between hotel and station, and a nice gift shop. Would recommend booking breakfast before you arrive. We'd already eaten by the time we got there, but the restaurant for evening meals looked very nice. We were in a shared room for 3 which came with a comfortable lounge area, fridge, kettle and a good-sized shower/toilet room. Beds v comfy. Our room was not facing Fuji or the lake, but as it was dark when we arrived and grey when we left, that hardly mattered. Highly recommend.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic place to stay. The staff were so helpful and the room was great with the view of the lake and Mt Fuji in the background. The breakfast was very good and we really enjoyed the onsen. I would definitely recommend this place.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Probably one of the best hostels i have ever been to. Super friendly hosts, great cuisine, beautiful lounge and garden and absolutely clean.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: - the architecture of the hostel, bar and rooms is really minimalistic and modern creating a peaceful atmosphere - i stayed in the female dormitory (4 bunks beds) with plenty of room and privacy with how the rooms are organised - possibility to rent a bike during my stay for only 500 yens, the cheapest I've seen in the area (not the fanciest bike obviously but it did the job)
Cons: -the bar and restaurant are on ground floor with a terrace right below the rooms. It can get pretty loud, but people were respectful during my stay and everyone would get inside after 10pm
10.0 Excellent
Pros: - Super modern hostel with a bar and restaurant. - Cheap bike rental (500¥/day) - Happy hour option from 4 - 7 pm (half price on drinks)
Cons: - The breakfast was a littlebit expensive for what you get
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, nice modern building, double rooms have a great view of Mt Fuji. Staff were very helpful with local knowledge for sightseeing routes and restaurants Garden patio area was nice, great for breakfast outdoors or sundowners Friendly hostel cat too
Cons: The communal area was more of a restaurant, would have been great to have a bigger sofa area for socializing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hostel is sooooo nice with comfortable room. I really love the view from room. Fujisan is too close. Food and happy hour beer are also incredible. If i have a chance, I will go back for sure.

6.3 Good
Pros: Location! Just on opposite of train station.
Cons: Towels!! They are just terrible!! Very old with bad smell. Need to replace immediately! Caprets and floor are very durty. You need to leave your shoes at entrance and socks become durty in a minute. There is no microwave or oven, only hot water. No free access to a fridg, need to ask staff to put and take something every time. Each evening I felt strong cigarette smell on each floor (no idea where it comes from, but for 3 nights it was the same)

Pros: Family run, small hotel. Very friendly and accommodating. Excellent breakfast and service.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The owner is extremely welcoming. If you want to experience onsen but are not ready to dip into a public onsen, this is a great place as there are 2 private onsens for use.
Cons: The place will be slightly difficult to access if you don’t have a car (there’s a bit of a walk to get there from the bus stop). It’ll be perfectly fine with a car, which was the case for us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property itself is beautiful and the host is so friendly. The in-house Onsen and Jacuzzi which are free to use are the highlights. The rooms offer a beautiful unobstructed view of Mt Fuji. 9.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the traditional aspect of the place, the room was spacious, very clean and had all the facilities we needed. The area was perfectly quiet at night. It was very close to the lake and attractions and only 10 minutes walk from the bus station. The breakfast room and the onset downstairs were fantastic. Our hosts were the friendliest, most hospitable people; they gave us a lift to the bus station and kept our green tea topped up!
Cons: The building showed signs of it's age in terms of it's decor and some staining.
6.7 Good
Pros: Got to experience a bit of what a traditional Japanese room’s like. Also, the hosts were accommodating. Free parking’s available as well.
Cons: It’s just a few steps away from free parking along the lake, but not same to what i thought (like Oishi Park). Room smelled a bit like cigarette.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view was great, we took the Mount Fuji view room and you could see the whole mountain from the porch and the tub.
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The amenities and onsen
Cons: The view from level 3. Plants and roof is in the way when bathing. We were expecting a view of mt Fuji for the hot bath in the hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel was the definition of luxury for us. We are not luxury travelers but decided to spend our last two nights in japan relaxing. The onsen in the room was the perfect way to wake up... complete with a view (even though mostly cloudy) of Mt. Fuji. The private onsen rooms on the facility are also super relaxing and a great way to spend the night after dinner. The rooms are huge and the shower pressure is great. I will think about this stay for a long time.
Cons: The food at the restaurant for dinner was just ok. The second night which was a japanese menu was much better than the first night which was a french menu. but everything came out in a timely manner, the staff was nice and it was included in the price so you can't really complain.
