10.0 Excellent
Pros: The very close proximity to the city walls meant that with our hired car we could easily park within the old city and exit within minutes and without hassle. The staff was exceedingly welcoming. I am a former PRO of a former 700-bed 4star hotel, and have assessed over 20 hotels in Malta and travelled to over 50 countries worldwide. The secret of their comfort was that the staff are there, courteous, friendly, have answers to all questions and although visible, not intrusive. The breakfast was made from locally sourced items, and the staff always gladly made me an English breakfast on my request. Nearby restaurants can be pricy and the menu restricted, but the food is also recommendable. This hotel attracts a particular clientele that appreciates historic cities (Evora is a UNESCO world heritage city), and evokes a subtle aura that permeates even through the polite but frank social interaction with other guests.
Cons: The hotel was excellent. Having been a former olive pressing mill, we would have appreciated more information about the site's industrial past, its relevance of being such within the city walls and not outside, and also some history about its former occupants, which olives were pressed and also if any artefacts had been recovered. I am only mentioning this as a proposal, not as a negative critical review.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Here's a place run by people who really care, and staffed by like-minded folks. Everything we needed was available, everyone what helpful and smiling, and we felt they all really like what they do-- this from the people at the desk to the folks in the kitchen. I smile just recalling our stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely beautiful hotel and really nice and helpful staff who made our stay very pleasant. Would definitely come back when visiting Evora.
Cons: Everything was perfect!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: In all of Evora, do not hesitate to book your stay here! This hotel is a ‘class act’! It is centrally located for multiple day trips throughout the gorgeous Alentejo region. In fact originally we had planned to stay only two nights, but we extended our stay to six because we did not want to leave. Every person on the staff is warm and kindhearted, they all genuinely wish for you to feel comfortable and welcome, from the first moment of your arrival. They are also extremely helpful in offering suggestions for where to visit, including the many authentic restaurants in the area. They also offer many services such as wine tours, drives to nearby towns and villages and more. We could not have imagined a more delightful experience after having stayed at this charming property! Oh, and the homemade breakfasts including the made-to-order hot items such as pancakes, omelets, Portuguese bacon and eggs made any style you wish, plus freshly squeezed juices, are a big bonus to an already beyond wonderful stay.
Cons: Everything was beyond perfect!

Pousada Convento Évora - Evora - Building
6
8.9 Excellent (318 reviews)
Overview Reviews
The Pousada Convento de Évora, also known as the Pousada dos Loios, is located in the museum-city of Évora, a World Heritage site. The Pousada is located between the Catedral Gótica de Évora and the Templo de Diana and very close to the Praça do Giraldo and the Colégio do Espírito Santo. The building retains traces of its original architecture, such as courtyard cloisters, a peaceful and serene area where you will find the outdoor swimming pool and an area for you to relax. The Pousada features the Loios restaurant, a bar and a free car park with limited capacity. Almost all of the rooms are individually unique and include Wi-Fi.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Historic property was a lovely building, too bad they didn't update the rooms very well. Cloister was pretty spot for the restaurant but weird to have to walk through it to get to your room.
Cons: Extremely over priced for a room that looks like it was last updated in the 1970s. Considering it was supposed to be a convent, they did nothing to retain the charm of the space and instead it was a shabby nondescript hotel room that could have been anywhere. Furniture was tired and broken and the bed was lumpy. Bathroom fixtures leaked.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is unbeatable inEvora . Our room was splendid. The food provided was great . The staff was very helpful . I wish we stayed longer
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and breakfast

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything: the room and the view; the quietness and cleanliness, the towels and the bed; the staff, including the bar staff (always helpful and friendly). Breakfast was excellent, except for the coffee - but expresso was provided upon request.
Cons: Small details: No kettle in the room but didn't ask if we could have one. No ventilation in the lovely bathroom.
4.0 Okay
Cons: It's Pestana, did not realize it was. They only pay minimum wages,so you get minimum service. Vodka and coke 22.50 euro,a bit heavy

9.2 Excellent
Pros: The mansion is 15 minutes from EVora by car, it is situated in a quiet and peaceful place full of trees and as it was a farm, it has its own animals (goats, donkeys, etc) We enjoyed it a lot and would have stayed more days to relax! The best thing ever was the breakfast, handmade and full of choices!

Pros: Great rural and peaceful location but close to Évora and the sights. The walks, especially into the Cork forests were lovely. The house is very much a home and the welcome was warm and informative. Pool and garden are a lovely oasis at the end of a busy day or great to just relax. Breakfasts are fabulous and served around a big shared table.
Cons: We had the Olive Room which was a little smaller than expected and the bathroom could benefit from an update but otherwise everything was really lovely.

Pros: Hotel Alentejo architecture with comfortable rooms and excellent service. Ideal for summer activities, but also for the other seasons.
Vitoria Stone Hotel - Evora - Building

1.0 Poor
Pros: Breakfast was good; the hotel restaurant staff were nice; the restaurant itself was cozy; the food was generally good; and the prices of the food and wines were reasonable. The massage rate at the Spa was also reasonable.
Cons: We were assigned to Room 308 that they knew has issues. It was directly beneath the breakfast kitchen. So, at around 05:00 a.m. we were awakened by noises from above of heavy footsteps, things dropping on the floor, carts being pushed across. When I went down to the front desk to complain, the clerk informed me that the noises were coming from the kitchen because they are preparing breakfast; he told me that he didn't have any available room to transfer us. Thirty minutes later, when we could no longer tolerate the noises, I went down again and this time, all of sudden, there was a room available, albeit bigger than our room, but for us it didn't matter. It was considered by the hotel as compensating us for the inconveniences we endured; they neglected to account from packing & unpacking our luggage, then being startled from our sleep by kitchen noises early in the morning, and then packing & unpacking again to move to another room! In fact, it ruined our plans that day! We were dead tired from lack of sleep and had lost our enthusiasm to tour the walled town. We asked several times to speak to the hotel manager, not in search of any compensation, but to tell him directly how disappointed we were with their sleazy practice. But he avoided us, and we didn't get to speak to him. For all potential guests, if you insist in staying at this hotel, which looks nice on the internet, make sure to refuse Rooms 308 and 306 when offered, both are directly underneath the kitchen. We learned later through internet search that other guests had similar complaints before (see for example comments from June 2019 in Trip Advisor)! Also, in general, the hotel rooms' soundproofing quality is inadequate; you will hear noises from the hallway and from the bathrooms of adjoining rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Decor and breakfast. Bed was great
Cons: Cooked breakfast could be improved
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Easy to find and to park, fast check-in, comfortable room, good and affordable bar-food (we liked the soop in special), great breakfast. What else to say...
Cons: N.a. (the temperature in the bar was rather low)
7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good, check in was ok,. Hotel was a bit farther to the old town then we thought. Decor was very unique and interesting. Free parking was nice.
Cons: We could not get the safe in the room to work. A staff member came up and could not get it to work so told us to wait 30 minutes and try again. It never worked and we never got any followup on the concern. Bar was quite expensive ford both food and drinks. We really didn't see any other restaurants around the hotel to eat.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was fabulous, the room was excellent, our supper was very good at their restaurant. Their breakfast was also very good! Also they had parking at the hotel which we loved.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff and excellent breakfast.
Cons: Found it difficult to locate because don't know Evora. The reception needs to be more informed about what's going on in Evora. Told is the town tour bus was running but that wasn't the case.

Pros: The Espada is a must stay-in near Evora. The site is wonderful and well maintained. The hosts are lovely and made everything for us to enjoy your stay. The pool is nice and clean, the bedrooms are nice as well. The breakfast is simple but with natural and good products, and the quantity is enough for any eaters! We highly recommend it if you wanna have a calm and peaceful retreat near Evora. You’ll need the car to get to the city!
Cons: No wine glasses ;)

Pros: This property is stunning. The decor is so beautifully fitting for the area, elegant but not stuffy. The property is magnificent, immaculate and using every natural part of the area. Truly a Portuguese hacienda. The kids loved the pool, the grounds and especially the dogs! Breakfast was delicious but the setting made the stay!
Cons: Nothing!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was excellent. Close to all amenities and tourist attractions. The space was large enough for our family to sleep and my kids to play during downtime. The breakfast (extra) was excellent and convenient as well as the anytime coffee, tea and port wine. The staff were lovely, accommodating and helpful. This place really looked after the little things which was greatly appreciated.
Cons: No parking at the hotel but we were directed to free parking nearby.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful. Great recommendations on restaurants.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is fantastic, very conveniently located. The staff members are all very helpful who did their best to help look for information and make restaurant reservations.
Cons: There was leakage on the pipe connecting the water tank and toilet bowl resulting in water spilled on the bathroom floor. This was most disappointing. I wish the room to be brighter. Having light from the ceiling is preferred. I understand it is due design, hence, dimmer lighting in the room. Due to being environmentally friendly, the water comes out like water jet but this will cause splashing water around. The heat from the air conditioner is not too strong. Maybe this is due to malfunctioning of the flap.

Pros: staff was soooooo nice! we only stayed one night, but it was perfect for that
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The inn was perfectly located, a few meters from the central square. My room was comfortable, though small, and a good value. Isidro, who welcomed me when I arrived, was very nice. The inn's common area was a pleasant place to read, and the complimentary port was a welcome touch.
Cons: My room would have been better with more lighting, more wall outlets and a safe.

Pros: The staff was friendly and helpful upon check-in, had breakfast set up a bit early on the day we were checking out, and called a cab for us on our way to the train station.

9.7 Excellent
Pros: We booked this hotel on a whim after deciding to leave Faro a day early. It was perfect. Easy to find, the front desk attendant was really helpful, the room was simple and clean. All in all a great value for the money.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The reception staff was friendly and well-informed, and the location of the hotel could not have been better. The room and lobby area were kept clean, and the continental breakfast was certainly very adequate.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Conveniently located, modern and functional, freshly renovated, impeccably clean and spacious rooms and common areas, overall very adequately priced.
Cons: The open courtyard offers no shade or weather protection. Unless you choose to prepay for the room, the payment policy implies that full room price is preauthorized from guest's bank account and kept on hold until check-in, then released (in case of my bank it takes a week or more to wait and see if money actually returns to account), and finally the guest pays again on the spot. As for me, this makes little sense and leaves an overall impression of mutual distrust. Either make it prepaid only, or don't bother with preauthorizations.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location. Helpful staff. Underground parking.
Cons: Room temperature was too hot and controls did not work to cool it down. Very little storage. Very little floor space to walk around bed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is the perfect choice in Evora. Great location near the main square, super clean and modern. As a boutique hotel, rooms are small, but quite fine. The beds are ridiculously comfortable. Ample garage parking for 5 euros per day.
Cons: Location, parking, service, comfy beds.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Basic hotel, but very clean, modern design and great location.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The ability to pull into town, park in a secure and be able to pull out again for a day trip, was a real, material benefit.
Cons: Breakfast value for added cost wasn’t worth it. It would nice to able to get coffee and a bread for something less.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: A clean and light room, with all we needed. Nothing more, but enough. Breakfast we took at the little padaria/pastelarias in the neigbourhood. Own time, own choice, and cheaper.
Cons: n/a
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice modern budget hotel just inside the medieval walls. Parking in the underground garage was super-convenient and not overpriced at 8 Euros per night. Friendly staff. Very clean.
Cons: No in-room coffee service, and the breakfast coffee was of indifferent quality. My (single) room was quite small, without room for large luggage. (My friends' double room was more reasonable.) During the day, my room had a bit of traffic noise from cars riding on the cobblestones outside, but the traffic went away at night.

Pros: Almost everything. The room was quiet and clean, the bed comfortable and the staff were amongst the nicest we have met anywhere. The Continental Breakfast was lovely, lots of fresh fruit and plenty of choice. It was in a really good location, as other people have said, it’s 5 mins walk to the main square. And above all, terrific value for money!
Cons: Only that the corridors were a bit bleak.

Pros: Location right next to historic centre and overlooks the wall. Undercover, secure parking only 3€
