Pros: Went relatively smoothly
Cons: I hate the hidden fees and insurance mark-up. If the insurance is 1000% essential, as you claim, put it in the damn quote.
Pros: Reasonable price, clean, nice car. The check in process was fast with the automation/video phone check in.
Cons: Waiting in line in the check in counter before deciding to go with the video phone check in.

Pros: It took an hour to get to the Hertz place on a shuttle, which as it turns out is right next to the airport...would've been faster to walk. We got in on a Friday, so I think there was a rush (huge line). My sister rented from the same place the day before and there was no line.
Despite that little hiccup, they were very friendly and helpful and didn't try to hustle me too much about addons.
Once I got my contract we had to wait another half hour for the car.
When I brought it back on my return, they were very helpful! I had prepaid for a full tank of gas, but had filled it the day before (doh!), but I asked the agent to remove the fee, and she did with a warning and a wink.
The car worked great, and the price was unbeatable for a minivan for 8 days...$345!!
Cons: Waiting for the shuttle and then the car itself....took awhile for it to be cleaned from the previous renter. But it was a busy time for them, so this wasn't really a service issue in my opinion. The price was way worth the inconveniences.

Pros: Price was very good. After waiting for over an hour just to get to a customer rep, the representative did comp the gasoline, which I appreciated.
Cons: The wait was much too long. Hertz was not prepared to handle the number of customers and the number of representatives was too small.

Pros: Front counterJen was great. She checked us in quick, gave good tips for the area, offered upgrade options etc. Car was nice and clean, drop off was easy. Transportation to and from the airport was quick and hertz had lots of trams running back and forth.
Cons: It took us almost 2 hours to get our car! This location was not prepared for the spring break crowd and only had 2 people working for the general checkin in. (There were other agents working on the holiday/gold line but not enough for the general crowd...especially when one couple stayed at the front counter for 45minutes!! Our kids were miserable and hungry, not a great start to our vacation.

Hertz overbooked by A LOT
Pros: Car was nice and was what we ordered, when we eventually got it. We had to wait in line for 2.5 hours at the Maui airport before getting to the counter because the cars had been so overbooked that they had to wait for each one to be washed and give cars out one by one before the line would advance! The wait was ridiculous. Then we waited another 20-30 minutes for our car to arrive from the car wash before we could start our vacation. It was a sad way to spend 3 hours of our vacation. I don't think we will rent a car from Hertz, at least on Maui, ever again!
Pros: We expected to rent a truck with a covered back back it wasn't the case... not what we saw in the picture

Terrible customer service
Cons: Had mechanical issues beyond my control and was told it would cost me $50 to have someone assist us. We were stranded in the hotel and had to make other accommodations to make our reservation on our last night in Maui. Car proceeded to act up and not want to start, ended up limpinge car in and when dropped it off the car didn't start for the attendant. Told him the story and needless to say I'm finished with alamo car rental services.

Nissan Versa Thanksgiving day
Pros: 5 mins with the man behind the desk and 1 minute in the parking lot and we were out of Alamo. The fastest, easiest process and on a holiday. 4 days for under $100. Need to download an app to connect your phone to the car which was very faulty but that was all Nissan. Alamo was great.
Cons: i dont know how , but i paid 65$ a day when your ad says that i need to pay 25$ a day

Pour customer service with pickup.
Pros: the price was good value . drop off was a good experience.
Cons: the pick up took over an hour and they went from 8 people at the desk down to 4 during a busy time. everyone in line was very frustrated and I found the experience unacceptable. I will not lease from them again due to the experience.

Pros: The Ford Escape was very nice. I was originally quoted for a Hyundai Accent, but was presented with a Chevrolet teeny car that my golf clubs would not fit in.
Cons: They charged me an extra $20/day for the Escape. They also extorted an additional $225 for insurance coverage. I explained that I had sufficient insurance of my own, however they said that if I had an accident the contract would stay open until the car was repaired and my insurance would not cover that. I was also told that it could take 3 to 6 weeks for the parts to come from the mainland. I will never again rent a car from Payless or Budget Car Rental!

Better than I expected
Pros: Incredibly low rate and reasonable fees if you have your own insurance. The employees were incredibly helpful. We got a Chevy sonic which was perfect for 2 people with 2 suitcases. Also a great compact car for the Road to Hana
Cons: Only downfall was it seemed like no one at OGG knew about Payless or that it was at the Budget office. That might be something to add into the reservation email.

Payless but not painless
Pros: Nothing to commend Payless.
Cons: First, Payless was very hard to find, turns out it was inside the Budget Care rental place. I feel somewhat cheated. Car was reserved for a total of $168, but charge at counter came to $200. I did not select any extra options. Also the compact was supposed to be a Nissan Versa Sedan or equal, but was the smaller Nissan Versa Note model, with no trunk, which is not equal but lesser. The agent handling the customer next to me was really giving the couple a very high pressure (uncomfortable to say the least) sales pitch to buy the upgrade and buy the extra insurance...he was quite intimidating..HATE these low-cost rental car companies.. Also my car had a tire that went needed an air fill. Will NOT rent from Payless again.

First time using Payless
Pros: The only thing I could think of saying that was a positive was that Payless was inside the airport property.
Cons: First off I didn't like being pressured to upgrade my vehicle. I wanted what I ordered and in the end I didn't upgrade but didn't receive what I rented. I also didn't appreciate how horrible of shape the rental car I got was in. When I ordered online for my two day stay it was $96, but after everything was said and done it came to over $250. I received a notification that our flight was delayed and was tiring to contact the Payless office where I rented the car from to see if I could delay my drop off. After trying to call for over an hour I gave up because no one picked up the phone and it was during regular business hours. I called a 1800 number I found online and they couldn't give me a straight answer or do anything for me because they couldn't find my rental in their computer. This was an extremely frustrating process that really shouldn't have been especially at the end of my vacation this was the last thing I wanted to deal with. I will never again rent a car from Payless or Budget.

Pros: At time of booking, Payless was the least expensive. Drop off was quick and efficient. Several shuttles taking you to and from rental facility so you didn't have to wait very long.
Cons: Upon arriving at the rental facility we waited an hour an a half to rent the car. They manage both Budget and Payless customers and the line was long. People were getting agitated waiting so long to get the car. Once we got the rental contract, we still waited another hour to get our car. We had planned to go to an attraction that closed at 2 pm, but the two and a half hours spent on renting a car eliminated that. Then we tried calling them for two days using the phone number on the envelope, calling corporate office, and a number listed on their website. We were never able to speak to someone. We want to extend our rental. Also tried contacting them via email and no luck. I can only wonder what a customer in an emergency can hope to get.
Cons: The pickup took over an hour, common budget you can do better

Pros: It was one of the less expensive options available.
Cons: Despite having a reservation, we still had to wait over 30 minutes for the minivan to be ready- with 3 kids (12, 2, and 3mos) who had all been travelling all day. The facility is small and not nice so we opted to wait outside in the wind. The minivan itself was awful, obviously the base model and very worn. We also rented a car seat that was old, coming apart and basically just a plastic chair. All in all, an absolutely horrible experience.

Terrible pick up system and dirty car.
Pros: We arrived at the rental office and it was just 3 groups. But all 3 parties ended up waiting more than 40 minutes. We all recieved our cars washed but it was still very dirty, outside and inside.
Pros: I like the opportunity that renting from Dollar in Maui presents. They have a daily rate that extends to their whole fleet. I rented a compact car and they gave me the opportunity to have a Nissan Mini Van that was available, which I accepted. No additional costs.
Cons: I can't think of a thing I didn't like about this rental.

Cons: They tried so hard to get me to upgrade so I did fir an extra 18.50 per day, then they didn't even have the car after waiting for 1 1/2hrs. They wanted to give me a free upgrade to an suv. I didn't want that, just give me what I paid for. Then the lady says they have an economy car (the original car I reserved before I paid for the upgrade) I could take. NOW why would you talk me into an upgrade on a car you dint have and then offer me the exact car I originally paid for at an upgraded price? I was so frustrated after the long wait that I just took the economy car and left. NEVER pay for an upgrade. If they don't have what you reserved then they should upgrade you for free.....period. NEVER going with dollar again.

Pros: I made a mistakes with my rental. I thought I was renting from the airport but it was the one in town that I made the reservation. They let me know the issue and then gave me a free shuttle to their other location. The staff was great and I have no complaints! Thank you Enterprise!

Pros: I liked the friendly service and clean vehicle. Also the reassurance you seem to receive from them.
Cons: The wait. I waited in the heat for over 20 minutes AFTER being told to wait outside for an escort to take me to my vehicle. It was ridiculous. On top of that, I had to pay more than I reserved since this was at the airport and I wasn't informed prior to that it was another location down the street (less than half a mile away).

Pros: Good price. No shuttle though, had to take a taxi, but still saved money on it. Nice people. When I was concerned about making it by the 4:00 closing time, they made me a backup reservation at the main Enterprise location, which was very reassuring. We would have a car in any case.
Cons: Pickup was on Saturday, and they only are open until 4. Unusual, and our plane was late but I just made it. Something others should be aware of.

Cons: We flew in from Seattle. I had 2 people in wheelchairs at airport. We got to office by cab at 415 and entire property was locked up. The ladies leaving fortunately had pity onus and opened back up to give us last minivan on Maui. I had talked to manager there few days before to confirm rental. He never mentioned that they closed at 4pm on Saturday's????i had 7 people counting on that van and really don't know what I would have done!!

Cons: We reserved a car at the airport and the rental agency called us the day before our trip to tell us that the pickup location was actually not at the airport and there was no shuttle. We had to take a taxi to get there. Traveling with a small child, this is a HUGE hassle because it requires installing the car seat in the taxi an then in the rental car. Don't advertise the location as an airport location if it is not at the airport!
Cons: No avail rentals at airport close to Kaanapali had to drive 30 miles

Pros: I liked how the lady at the end made things right with payment. I liked how the vehicle was what I asked for and that it was new
Cons: Upon pick up noticed big paint smudge mark where vehicle was struck by something. Gas tank was at 1/4 full. Cleanliness was sub par. Looked like a rush job. I called to inform about gas , vehicle was great though , 3000 mikes on a new Yukon XL . Need to give a little more tlc on the cleaning part, however , upon return the service was exceptional. They reduced my rate for the gas. As I returned it with a half tank more than when I picked it up. I also took off the big paint smudge with a rag and some gasoline, ( a trick a Mexican friend tought me) looked like nothing ever happened there. The main issue was cleanliness. I had to clean the all the windows inside . Sand in the seats. Felt bad it was a brand new Yukon XL . Those guys are expensive and should get the TLC they deserve.
Ps. Full coverage insurance is way high.

Pros: Friendly staff and great inventory of newer vechicles. Drop off and shuttle to airport was quick and easy. Clean vehicle interior. Vehicle ran well and performed to expectation.
Cons: Check in took 60-90 minutes waiting in line which is too long of a wait for my patience. We rented a beautiful low mileage Ford Mustang convertible. Vehicle could have used a car wash. Most of the vehicles in the lot appeared to be in need of a rinse down.
