Easy pick up, no line. Kylie, at Charlotte Airport Alamo counter was so nice, professional, and efficient. We were able to get our car quickly, and had no problems at all. Return was smooth and quick as well.

I had set up the “skip the line” pickup, only to find the kiosk wasn’t working on my arrival. I’d recommend calling ahead to check. Car cleanliness was mediocre; I rented a minivan, and found crackers under the seats and juice box residue on the interior from a previous renter’s kids. My biggest recommendation is to CHECK YOUR RECEIPT! I had filled the gas tank past the “full” line, yet found a charge for 3 gallons at $4.62 a gallon. I called to complain, and they immediately refunded the charge. Overall a mediocre experience.

Staff was relatively friendly and helpful, vehicle was excellent.The vehicle was not waiting for us when we arrived. We had to wait over 30 minutes for a vehicle to arrive at the facility. Communication of this was poor as we were told the wait would be only 10 minutes and I believe we were not immediately notified when our vehicle was ready.

When we picked up the vehicle it only had 1/4 of a tank of gas so we had to wait 20 minutes for them to go put gas in it. When we returned the vehicle we stopped about 20 minutes from the city to fill it up and we were still charged for 3 gallons of gas at 10.00 a gallon, which is absolutely ridiculous.

Drop off was super easy and the van was perfect for our needsMy flight was delayed by 3 hours, so instead of getting in at 9:00 pm it was midnight. When I got to the Alamo rental in the airport the entire garage was empty of cars. There were about 8 of us in line with nothing that we could do but wait to see if more cars were brought over, the employee said that they had overbooked and were waiting for more cars to be turned in and cleaned up. It was after 2:00 am when I got my car, thank goodness I kept my email confirmation because they wanted to charge me an extra $125 even though I picked up the car 5 hours later than I originally scheduled it for. I guess car rental companies are like airlines, they overbook "hoping" people don't show up but when everyone does the customers just get mad and end up having a poor experience.

The Priceline deal for the Hertz rental was not a deal! Priceline charged $187.00 which did not include the Alliance Insurance for $22.00, which was not needed because I had to purchase the Hertz' insurance when I picked up the vehicle. Then with all other taxes and fees plus necessities (gas, added drivers), the car ended up costing me $357. That's not a deal for a one-day rental. A disclaimer should be put on the screen stating that insurance will need to be purchased when picking up the vehicle. Also, there should have been more of a discount on the price overall.

My flight got cancelled so I decided to drive. I’m a Hertz gold status member but they showed no availability on their Hertz website. I reserved a 7-seater SUV through Kayak (best that was available for a family of 7) and it placed the reservation with Hertz. At check-in they said there were no 7-seaters available. They offered me a 5-seater at a discount or they could give me an upgrade to their last 7-seater minivan for an extra $75+ tax per day. I had no choice but to pay the extra. Lucky I was first in line at check-in. I hope others that needed it got the 7-seaters they reserved without getting duped to pay extra!

Very disappointed. I keep getting random charges from hertz. I also haven’t gotten my refund for the change I made a month ago. Also everytime I called each person told me something different. No one seemed to know the answers. It’s also very confusing trying to figure out when which stores are open and when we can pick up drop off. The app sucks too it kept closing itself, and I have an iPhone 11 so my service isn’t the issue.

I understand that in times when there are huge numbers of cancellations, car rental companies get smashed with business. I made my reservation for a car for 11PM, online, via Kayak. They were the only car rental with cars left at that hour. When I arrived, the line was 70 people deep and someone announced "If you made your reservation after 8PM, we cannot honor it". Hertz should have an accurate reservation system, that 'closes out' when there are no cars.

Wasn’t given the option to fill the gas tank myself before returning the vehicle so I got stuck paying for a full tank in advance. No phone number to call to discuss or remedy the situation.

Drop off was a nightmare. The location i was supposed to drop off is no longer open - and apparently that has been the case for a long time. Size of ‘SUV’ was no where near what i expected - comparison was chevy equinox - and not what we got.

Only had one person at the counter. He did the best he could, but was visually overwhelmed by the 20 people in line. He wasn’t able to take a break, just went from person to person. Took approximately an hour to get thru the line and get our rental. Pickup time started at 6am and finished at 7am. Drop off was standard and easy as usual.

The associate at the Charolette airport who got everything squared away with my payment and rental was very friendly and helpful. This was my first time with rental car from the airport. It was unclear what I was supposed to do with the keys when I returned the car.

There was an extremely long line of people waiting to rent/pick up their vehicles. It would have been helpful to have had a dedicated line for those who'd pre-booked and weren't there going through the process of finding out what was available to rent. Vehicle was comfortable to drive. There were quite a number of scratches on the bodywork as well as one place that had been 'marked' with a white paint 'x' for repair and the repair had not been done. It was a small loose section of the body at the front right hand side of the car. None of this was obvious when picking up the car as it was very dark in the garage. I guess you get what you pay for!

Staff at the desk was wonderful. She gave us very personalized service. My drop off experience was also excellent. Fast efficient. I left something in the car and went back to retrieve it but the car was already in the cleaning area on another level. The two staff contacted the cleaning area and got it back for me. All very pleasant and went the extra mile

One day later I have still not received a receipt, nor was I able to speak to anyone at Drop off. I picked up and dropped off the car earlier than planned, which should qualify me for a one day reduction in the rental fee. I never saw an agent to check me in. I left the key and the gas receipt in the car. Still no word. Also, on the last day the check oil and engine lights came on. That's an issue that doesn't apply to me, but affects how I feel about the car is maintained.

It is VERY important to note that we had an excellent experience with Ashley and the other staff at Advantage rental. They were very helpful and the pickup and drop of were very easy. That being said, DO NOT RESERVE ANY 2021 TOYOTA RAV4 VEHICLES!!!!! Read this article: https://www.carproblemzoo.com/toyota/rav4/2021/assist-problems.php We had this exact problem when using the adaptive cruise control plus lane assistance. The car repeatedly was pulled left or right and one had to remain vigilant, holding the steering wheel somewhat firmly to keep it on track. Without the lane assist, the cruise control worked just fine. This shouldn't have to be the case, that you have to turn off one safety feature to have the other one work. I explained this in detail to the staff at Advantage. Who knows if they will push this further up the chain of command. The individual comments I have read from people taking their cars to dealerships is that Toyota is not taking responsibility for this at all.

When I reserved the car through Priceline I was not told that advantage only allowed you to drive the car in four states. I ended up needing to beg a ride to West Virginia for my show because my car wasn’t allowed to go there.

There was nothing wrong with the rental or the process except the car smelled of cigarette and marijuana. I had to leave the back windows cracked when parked, so the smell was not that bad when I entered the car.

There are two things that I was not told about that were a shock when I picked up the car. I was not told that my rental was only good for two or three local states and I was not told that they add a deposit fee to my rental that was about equal to the rental itself making the rental price almost double. Now, I got it back when I returned the car but it was still a shock not being told about it up front.

When I booked the car my receipt said it included unlimited miles. Yet when I went to rent the car I was told that anything over 150 miles would be $0.49 per mile unless I paid an additional$20.00 per day for unlimited. I am extremely displeased with this bait and switch tactic.

The van did not pick us up. We waited 40 plus minutes and had to take a cab to their location. The local phone number given to us went to a national location. We could not get info as to when we might have been picked up. The local Payless employee could have not been less helpful and offered no apology. We will never use Payless again.

Then called national 800 number, actually spoke to a human who assured me a shuttle was on the way. After waiting another 10 minutes I walked inside and rented from another company. Not worth the hassle and wasting an hour of your life waiting for their shuttle bus. Will not rent from Payless ever

I picked up the car with quarter tank of gas with 5536 meter mileage and returned the car with half tank full of gas with 5574 meter mileage. I only drove 38 miles for whole rental. I added 5.162 gallon of gas which is about half full of tank. Payless Car Rental girl wanted me to pay up to full of tank gas and charged me additional $18.07 for fuel charge. I felt I got robbed

Car not ready, smelled like cigarettesThe car got good gas mileageFirst the shuttle took 45 minutes to arrive, even after two phone calls. The car wasn’t ready so we had to wait 15 more minutes after getting there, even though we were almost two hours later than we had reserved the car for. The car was smelled like an ash tray and was filthy with crumbs in the cup holders and stains on the seats.

NothingOn line it stated that a depoist would be taken for a debt card but when I got there they would not take my card so I had to wait in line at Avis for 45 mins and the price was 177 vs the 49 that I was quoted on line I will never use the on line service again

They just email u the contract. No need to keep the paper in the car. Very cool. The customer service agent was very helpful. The car he let me take was very good.

I waited nearly an hour to get my car. I paid for and ordered a Full Sized Pickup (F-150 or larger) and was given a little Escape mini compact suv. I’m 6’4” and was super cramped in it. It was laden with dents / dings, and I could not pickup the mattresses and comforters than I needed to get so I had to pay $500 for delivery. The tank was half full when I picked it up and I was also still charged for the Large Pickup cost.

At the CLT Airport (Terminal) to Pick up the Vehicle the 45 min wait in line with one Customer Rep for almost 20 (the next 25 two more employees showed up) min is not acceptable when you have 23 people in line! Though the employees were very apologetic and nice. I felt bad for them - better management!

I had to get a rental with little to no notice at Charlotte - big airport. Avis was easy, fast, perfect car and a good bargain. Kinda makes you want fly less and drive more.

All was generally fine with check in, return. I'm giving a rating of one below excellent because (a) the car wasn't in great condition cosmetically and (b) I had to change my plans. The price for the additional two days was higher than the initial rental period. I understand that it may be business practice, but it doesn't feel great when one is already a captive customer.

Super long lines to pick up, had to spend 1 hour with a toddler in line and no other lines at any other rental agency. Accepted a car with a 1/4 tank (which I was happy to do) just to get a car faster. Felt really bad for the workers having to deal with it all. If you can’t turn them around fast enough, don’t set them up. Set up for failure.

Thrifty and Kayak -- Bad combinationI made two Thrifty Car reservations using Kayak. When I tried to pick up the first car Thrifty said the reservation was cancelled. Sure enough, I checked the Kayak paperwork and the reservation cancelled automatically two hours before the scheduled pick up time. I checked the next reservation 3 days in the future and found that it too automatically cancelled 2 hours before the scheduled pick up. I called both Kayak and Thrifty and neither could change it. Absolutely useless.

The highlight of this experience was surrendering the vehicle.It was exhilarating being reprimanded by the check in desk for declining their own insurance, even though I had already purchased insurance via Kayak.The rented Ford Fiesta may have once been a viable vehicle, but the transmission barely cycled--leaving me stranded more than once in the middle of intersections. What a piece of junk.

Worse than the DMVA single person running the counter when checking in. Zero ability to answer questions. The car treated me like a teenager with having speed limited to 80, volume limited to 9, seat belts that would shut off the radio if they weren't plugged in. There wasn't a drive to pick us up from the location to go back to the airport. Overall, the situation was a disaster.

The Handling of the CarThe handling of the car that I was given was terrible. It was very sensitive, which made it tough to drive especially when on the highway. In addition, the lady at the counter said the upgrade was $12 and when I got the receipt, it as $20.

Great car, great rate, sketchy location and unhelpful employeesThe car was brand spankin' new, for an unfathomably low price. Drove well, great gas mileage. If you pay by credit card, don't get the insurance! Your credit card company most likely has car rental insurance built in (obviously, you should double check first). Don't let them try to push insurance on you.The location is pretty awful and not on the Airport grounds. The folks working there are not helpful, slow, and don't understand customer service.

Not what I purchasedI purchased a specialty car that was shown as a smaller suv on Kyak. When I got to Thrifty I was given a compact car. They asked if I wanted to upgrade to what I got online- for double the price. WILL NOT go through Kayak/Thrifty again!

Price gouging, charging airport fees but not in airport, Rates change after ask extension but never advised of this prior, charged card on file multiple times daily without authorization, say called never received, When I called could have advise of increasing rates not offered weekly best rates had to schedule another promotion online for better rate then declined insurance but first time was not a problem second had to use their insurance for $90 plus more which I thought was alot. Online showed insurance added $11 day should have been like $44. I didn't bother going back and forth with the pricing need transportation until mine out shop. Manager Owner information on business card never answered cell. Agent T. declined to provide corporate number stated have no clue what it is. Will be filing dispute with my financial institution and BBB.

Upfront pricing instructions of changed rates going up if extension and billing card without authorization daily instead of offering weekly best rates price gouging, not in airport but charging fees like they are. Very bad experience. Manager never answered cell phone or call back as requested agent C.. and T.. to advised owner. Distracted service, felt very unappreciated.

Pros: the price was excellent Cons: - the car smelled like smoke - the checkout process took a while. I’ve never had this happen before but they called my car insurance company to confirm that my insurance was valid. They were on hold and had to be transferred a couple times and then they had me talk to the agent. - pickup was complicated. There were no signs for Ace in the airport for shuttles, and they didn’t have a counter at the airport like the other car rental places. I had chosen the airport location so I thought there would be something indicating what to do. I ended up calling the number on my reservation and finally was able to talk to a person who gave me a number to call to figure out the shuttle. Also looking at the reservation I saw that it was really close to 6pm when the place closed so instead we ordered an Uber to take us. -drop off was complicated. Based on our pickup experience we called ahead and asked for the shuttle to be ready to take us to the airport at 1:45pm. We arrived at 1:43 and the shuttle didn’t come until 2. At that point we were running late. We asked the driver multiple times to take us to southwest in the departures area. He started going towards arrivals and we yelled to take us to departures but he just took us to arrivals instead and seemed very confused.

Despite my reservation, they didn’t have my car ready. I had to wait 2+ hours, and when they did finally get me a car it was a different class than what I booked and I was charged a higher price.
