We received recommendations for dinner that both turned out to be wonderful. It was a wonderful place to take a break from walking the city and having tea or coffee while overlooking the canal. The people were friendly everywhere we went. If you like to walk then this is the place to visit.

The room was perfect, comfortable and cool when the temperature reached 40 degrees! The bathroom was amazing, especially the shower! Cons: There wasn't really anything to dislike. My husband has MS, and struggles to walk so we had to get the bus into the city, but this wasn't a problem and we had planned for this. The only slight frustration I had was with the key system to get in and out but after a bit of practice, this was fine.

Pros: This hotel is located in a very convenient location in the city center, a very brief 5 minute walk to the main square with the Belfry Tower. The staff is wonderful in every way. Jana and Olivia were kind and very helpful. The manager walked us out to the square the first day on her way to run errands, so kind! It was our anniversary and they had a lovely dessert, chocolates and champagne in our room when we arrived. The buffet breakfast was delicious! The location is near many restaurants and shops in addition to being near Market Square, perfect location!

Cons: We had a rental car and had planned to use public parking after dropping off our luggage. We had not anticipated how extremely crowded the street would be in front of the hotel with pedestrians, bikes and cars on what is a narrow one lane cobblestone street. Also when we drove to the public parking near the outskirt of the center of Bruges it was full. This was in the middle of August. Fortunately the delightful staff was able to find room in their garage and we used the valet parking. This was the only aspect we would change in our stay.

Cons: Upgrade,apparently, to a family room which had a queen bed plus two beds up a flight of stairs. We had no use for this extra space. To access our room we had to carry our suitcases & bags up approximately 20 stairs. The room we did use had a hazardous beam near the chairs to watch TV. Plus the light at the entrance to our room was not working and despite several complaints it was not repaired.

We had a decadent dinner in the dining room and indulged in the breakfast buffet the next morning. I’ve never seen a breakfast buffet with three different types of chocolate! The service at the buffet was superb. We paid for parking and their generous policy is to allow parking in the garage until midnight after checkout. I would happily return and would give The Duke’s Palace my highest recommendation.

The pool complex was beautiful and relaxing, the only complaint would be the pool could have been made a little bigger. Saying this there were never many people there so it was not really a problem. The hotel is very central and the shops and attractions are nearby. We would recommend a canal boat trip.

Pros: Beautiful hotel with large rooms, elegant decor and huge bathrooms with both tub and separate shower. We had a decadent dinner in the dining room and indulged in the breakfast buffet the next morning. I’ve never seen a breakfast buffet with three different types of chocolate! The service at the buffet was superb. We paid for parking and their generous policy is to allow parking in the garage until midnight after checkout. I would happily return and would give The Duke’s Palace my highest recommendation.

Pros: A beautiful hotel which was very comfortable. We didn't eat in the hotel but had drinks in the bar a couple of times which was very pleasant. Staff were extremely polite and helpful. The pool complex was beautiful and relaxing, the only complaint would be the pool could have been made a little bigger. Saying this there were never many people there so it was not really a problem. The hotel is very central and the shops and attractions are nearby. We would recommend a canal boat trip.

Some areas were stiflingly hot. furniture in the lobby was strangely modern for a historic area, and some of it was shabby. Cons: Minor issue - Private parking is super tight. You have to leave your car keys at the reception so staff is able to move your car when needed - to make room for window cleaners for example. Not easy getting in or out if you are not used to maneuvering a larger car through narrow alleys and gates. But, the staff is very helpful and will gladly assist with this. If this sounds a bit too complicated, there is plenty of public parking in the area at reasonable rates.

Cons: Don´t spent your money on breakfast. All you get for 7,5 Euro is lots of pastry, butter, ham, cheese and jogurt. And apple. And breakfast room is crowded since 8:30 with strong resemblance of McDonald diners. Rather have breakfast in city for more or less the same money (English one from 8,5 euros). Make sure you share the room with someone you are more than comfortable with on every level. Doors to toilet are basically made of paper so you hear EVERYTHING that is happening there.
