Hotel Suites Tequendama

I stayed at Tequendama Suites for 8 nights and had an excellent stay. The suite was spacious, with a great view of the mountains and the street below. Breakfast was good and ample — I ate several times in the Suites and a few other times at the hotel, a short walk away. (The breakfast at the Suites seems to operate some of the time, but not always.) Overall, I developed a slight preference for the hotel buffet, which had a few more options, but both were good. The location is good — very close to the Museo Nacional, and a reasonable walk down Carrera 7 to La Candelaria and the museums downtown. I felt comfortable walking in the area during the day and early evening, but did use a taxi company recommended by the hotel when I was planning to be out later on one occasion. That worked well and the price was reasonable. Staff is very kind and helpful; some speak English well, some are working on it.

Window insulation is weak, so you will hear some street noise even high up. It did not keep me awake. The rooms are a little dinged up (scratches) and cooking equipment is not extensive. One day I was not able to get the door open with my key. That was fixed fairly quickly (within about 30 minutes). These are very minor issues.
