Cinnamon Guest House Dogo - Hostel - Matsuyama - Bedroom
1
9.3 Excellent (558 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Cinnamon Guest House Dogo - Hostel in Matsuyama (Dogo Hot Spring), you'll be steps from Dogo Onsen and Yunoura Onsen. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very close to Dogo onsen.
Cons: No one is there to check you in until 3pm (4pm?).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location only a minute walk from the hot springs, very friendly owner, very relaxing common area space and comfortable beds. Everything was amazing here!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very cosy and convenient place just a few mins walk from Dogo onsen honkan and the shopping street. Surprisingly quiet when I was there - I was the only person in the dorm. Good facilities. Definitely recommended!
Cons: -
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was great - just around the corner from Dogo Onsen. The owner/manager Shimpei was super welcoming and friendly, and helped me organize my plans for my stay. The bed was very comfortable- one of the most comfortable hostel beds in Japan, I'd wager, and all facilities were spotless.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice place located next to Dogo Onsen. A lot of small attention from Shimpei who is extremely nice. The rooms are very big, you have plenty of space to lay out your stuff, good curtains for intimacy around your bed. Very clean and cosy
Cons: It’s a small detail, but lights in the dorm go automatically on at 7am and off at 11pm. If you are very sensitive to light to sleep like me, it can be an issue, even with the curtains around the bed. So don’t forget a sleeping mask!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Mix Dorm Room is really big vor only holding 8 beds, which makes it very comfortable to maybe unpack and pack your stuff. The beds are softy. It‘s easily possible to come back home and not wake other people up! There is a veeeery comfortable and stylish common room with a sofa and tables which serves as the entrance, free tea, coffe and bisquits inclusive! Everything was super clean, the host can help you with all your needings and had some nice information and advice for my trip.
Cons: There is a building site next to the hostel at the moment, i think they started breaking things around 8.30am. Close the window and Oro-Pax is my advice!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great! There was a large common area, the bunk beds were easy to get in and out of (stairs as opposed to ladders), and the owner was super friendly and knowledgeable about the area. He was able to answer any questions, and make suggestions about things to see, do, and eat that improved our trip. Very clean, cute decor, free coffee/tea/biscuits. Great location for the price, as well!
Cons: No complaints, everything was great!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: all!!!!!!!!!!!!! really cute house with love !
Cons: no
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff is nice and close the hot spring.
10.0 Excellent

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Felt like we were the only ones staying there
Cons: That included in the facilities were extra hidden costs rather than just being able to use the facilities available. Worth it but very expensive!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Service was excellent, environment is great and perfect for a relaxing weekend. The room was very nice, spacious, clean, mini-fridge is for free, nice bluetooth speakers and even a manual coffee grinder! As it was during winter we also liked the underfloor heating in the room. Kaiseki dinner was worth it too.
Cons: We booked the indoor swimming pool or "cave" for 1h and it was nice to have this private space along with the jacuzzi but I think service could be improve here like adding some drinks or snacks on the bar would be a great idea!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very spacious and well equipped room (ipad, dyson hair dryer, beer and beverage prepared for free, bluetooth speaker and so on) Kind staffs who are willing to help the customer Nice dinner and sake Since there are few people around hotel you can relax and have a peaceful moment.
Cons: Would be great if the price of private pool is a bit cheaper.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This is a very special place, especially for architects, designed as an exclusive house and art gallery by Tadao Ando. It’s perfect place for a relaxing few days off. The room is spacious with gorgeous view of the sea and hills; rather clean, bedroom with comfortable beds. Mini-fridge is for free. Sauna, indoor 20-m heated pool and jacuzzi you can book for private use. Nice spa service.
Cons: Outdoor pool and the fitted carpet in the room could be more clean. There is probably no place to eat outside of the hotel if they are fully booked in the restaurant. There is a garden but with no place to, for example, just sit and drink a coffee outside. No option to choose japanese or western style breakfast. Better to have a private car available than to use public transport/taxi.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: more food choice
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The most stunning part is the view and how the architecture embrace the surrounding environment. It was very inspirational stay and definitely pampering. Staff are very helpful and polite, we had many special requests and all met. Complimentary Mikan juice and mineral water throughout the stay and champagne for happy hours for in house guests. The Kanseiki dinner is divine, worth every penny we paid at the spot, great treat!
Cons: Swimming pool and facility is subject to additional 10000yen per person charge. Bedroom is too simple and comparatively small.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Environment, room decor. The swimming pool is marvelous

5.0 Okay
Pros: Beautiful onsen hot spring bath on the ground floor.
Cons: Holiday price was extremely high without any dinner or breakfast: price we paid was higher than the ordinary price with full accommodation, dinner and breakfast altogether! I’ve got a certain skin allergy after taking bath at the wood bath in the room. Terrible experience. Never again...

8.3 Excellent
Cons: Stuffy smell at our bathroom.

Cons: No safe deposits inside room
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfortable hotel. Close to the cit, transport, attractions and shopping. The Ibsen/spa was a bonus
Cons: Check in is on the 13th floor. The instructions regarding this process were not clear when we entered on the ground floor. Also, having to use your key every time you get in the elevator was annoying. They key and wallet and other attachment is quite big and inconvenient for each person to have to take with them. You can’t just take one key per group in case one of you wants to return early, they can’t get to the floor

Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The house is an old style house, and the interior has been renovated with good taste and preserving the original atmosphere. I loved it! The rooms were clean and pretty, and even in shared dormitory there was plenty of space for everyone. The location is perfect, you will have walk a bit uphill to get there, but Dougoya is really close to the Dogo Onsen main building, easy access. You can also rent a yukata to walk around the town with. I would definitely stay again!

Pros: Overall, it is clean and the person in charge is considered very kind.
Cons: Most of all, it was regrettable that the bathroom (or shower room) was not indoors or near. It was so quiet that I was scared.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very convenient.
Cons: Parking charge too high and TV difficult to use.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: So convenience to everywhere.
Cons: No
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We really like the location of this hotel. There is a tram stop right outside the door, an arcade across the road, access to the Matsuyama Castle is a short walk up the side street from the hotel. Car parking was very affordable (about ¥1000 per night). The rooms are fairly spacious for Japan. Love the bathroom, as it's Japanese style, so even though there is no Onsen at this hotel, you can have a similar experience in your own private bathroom. The beds are comfortable. I would probably stay here again, but I would not bother with the breakfast, as it wasn't as good as I remembered it to be (see below).
Cons: We weren't as impressed with the breakfast this year as we were when we stayed here last year. The coffee (at breakfast) was one of the worst I had out of all of the hotels we stayed at. Food was cold, and wasn't as much to choose from as compared to other hotels we stayed at. The room was a bit cold - when I enquired they said it was because of the afternoon sun that came through, so even though it was just out of winter, they turn the air conditioning to cooling until about 10pm at night, then they change it to heating. So between 6pm and about 10pm, the room was on the cold side. The hotel are stingy with their free amenities (things like face creams, hair packs and foot creams etc). Other hotels that offer extra free amenities allow you to take as many as you want. This hotel, we stayed for 2 nights, and were only allowed to take 6 free amenities (for the 2 nights - not each night). The room would be better if there was a bigger shelf above the beds to put phones etc on to charge at night, and also if the light switches were closer to each of the beds.
6.3 Good
Pros: On site parking was convenient. Location was very central and convenient.
Cons: Breakfast buffet was very average...most items were cold. Room was too warm but couldn’t adjust the temperature other than open the window ... and that didn’t help much.
8.0 Excellent
Cons: The AC didn’t work very well, so the rooms were stuffy and a little warm for my taste.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Rooms are very large: more a suite. Wonderful onsen: wooden stools and bowls, no plastic here. Wonderful indoor and outdoor pools. Very helpful pleasant staff. Footbath in garden is gorgeous. On main tram routes and next to the Dogo Onsen so easy to get around town. Luxurious, sparkling clean and comfortable.
Cons: I do not like having to say the night before when I shall want breakfast (or, come to that, what I shall want): makes me feel part of a tour rather than an independent traveller. A very minor niggle. I think they have a fair number of groups so perhaps set up to cater for them. Friend in Western-style room said it could do with sprucing up a bit and was not as shiny as our Japanese style room.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Staff very helpful
Cons: Old facilities
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Kiseiki dinner & breakfast were so nice. our Japanese-style room for 4 is comfortable and spacious. the garden itself can be one of tourist spot. staffs are friendly & helpful. Onsen is one of the best we had been to.
Cons: the hotel is located on the hill so walk to the property with luggage made my daughters did a bit of complaining. but it's not a big deal. still quite close to the Dogo-Onsen station.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is a beautiful property with onsen and a garden. The emperor has stayed here on the past. The room was just lovely with a separate living area from the bedroom and a huge bathroom. Lots of amenities. It is very close to Dogo onsen. The staff were so kind and helpful in finding what we needed.
Cons: Can’t think of a thing!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Super clean and large rooms. Warm & welcoming staff. The onsen was really nice & clean. The garden is an oasis of tranquility. It was nice that we had a balcony and could open the windows. The location was right in Dogo Onsen and it was nice that one could walk around in the Yukata in the town and visit other onsen. The breakfast was really nice.
Cons: It was a bit expensive. One could expect that dinner would be included in the price.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, just opposite to the Dogo Onsen. The interior design is very nice, very European. Room size is not big but comfortable enough for one or two persons. Car parking service is also good. Thanks to the hotel team for making efforts to find my eye-glasses that was left in the hotel after checking out and send it back to me to Hong Kong
Cons: A cockroach was found in our room.
7.5 Good
Pros: location is great and room is big enough
Cons: minimum emenities , no English speakers , only tredtion breakfast , parking in auto robotic one cost a lot .
7.0 Good
Pros: The location is AMAZING! Directly opposite the main Dogo Onsen building, it’s a great hotel to have as your base. The rooms were fairly roomy and I liked that they provide yukata and geta so you can visit the onsen with ease. The staff were all really lovely and helpful throughout my stay.
Cons: I did get a smoking room by mistake, so that was entirely my fault. However, it smelt like it had not been cleaned properly and I found that after running the air conditioning for an hour or two the smell dissipated and didn’t return for the rest of my stay (2 nights) even after leaving the air conditioning off all day. I also missed having an ironing board in my room, but that is a minor inconvenience and I guess most guests won’t be visiting on business with the need to iron clothes. I did not like the fact that I had to give in my key every time I left the hotel as I often had to go in and out over 3 times an hour and felt like it was a waste of time. Some parts of the room, like the key holder, were due a few clean as well.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very good location.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location, the Dogo Onsen was outside our door. You could walk to the other Dogo locations through the arcade that was 1 minute from the hotel.
Cons: Parking - our car was too tall and had to park off site.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We chose the hotel because of its location near the Dogo Onsen. It was closer than we thought, close to the tram to the center, close to the pleasant shopping arcade, the hotel and the room were nicer than what we expected, the parking was convenient - a very satisfying stay in Matsuyama.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location location location
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and hospitality. The employees were very polite and helpful.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Central location, right outside of Dogo Onsen and shops/restaurants
Cons: View of a construction site, furniture needs modernization as old wooden units. Hotel is looking a bit worn. Overpriced for what was provided

Pros: Kotatsu, close to Dōgo Onsen
Cons: Cleanliness, expensive
7.0 Good
Pros: Close to the onsen street.
Cons: The kitchen sink by the living room was the only sink in the house which was a bit inconvenient.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Just the location is good. Near tram station, dogo park, and dogo Onsen.
Cons: I leave my luggage in the hostel after check out. After I coming back I just wanted to sit and wait for my bus for an hour, but they asked me to leave because I would use power. Never experienced something like this. Really poor service! I am really disappointed. Its to expensive for this!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place with friendly host
6.3 Good
Pros: The staff is nice and communicative. Although the price is the same than for a hotel or a good hostel, you have to expect find a house. You can experience how is to live in a modest house in Japan here. That's interesting in my opinion, but not for everyone. It's walking distance from Dogo Onsen if you want to soak in the afternoon.
Cons: The house is old and the rooms small for so much people. Sometimes you'll have to wait to use unique shower/bathroom.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was very laid back. We stayed two nights so we could visit Matsuyama Castle before taking the ferry to Imabari ride the Shimanami Kaido.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hostel is about a 2 min walk in an alleyway direct to Dogo Onsen station. You really can’t ask for a better location
Cons: The bathroom is old, as is the rest of the house. So if you’re fond of indulgent showers after a long day of traveling, go to one of the onsen nearby
7.0 Good
Pros: Typical Japanese house. Well situated.
Cons: It was cold.

5.0 Okay
Pros: Close to dogo hot spring.
Cons: We were only two, but they gave us a room that more 20 people could stay therefore it was too large to warm it. The toilet was very cold too. Regardless of paying for the parking for 2 days, they changed our parking to another place which was quite far from the hotel.
7.0 Good
Pros: It’s location was really good, being so near to Dogo Onsen. The Japanese style of the rooms were also really nice.
Cons: A little bit expensive for such a simple place with no proper kitchen.

Cons: Staff were often absent and communication was difficult Tumble dryer was terrible.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Simple accommodations, large luggage locker, great location close to the onsens and shopping area. Dorm had a private toilet.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very close to the onsen, rooms were a good size.
Cons: Parking was quite difficult to find, rooms are a bit of a weird layout with the toilet separate from the sink.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Located in an extremely convenient area, near a lot of major sites such as Dogo Onsen and the shopping arcade where they had a festival happening. Close to these things, yet not too loud at night. Provided a locked cubby for my valuables.
Cons: I was satisfied, but be aware that it is minimalistic, not a fancy hotel. A lot of stairs, but totally fine.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It was so close to Dogo Onsen and there's convenient transportation to most other tourist places in Matsuyama.
Cons: The walls are VERY thin, so I could even hear the toilet in the neighboring room.
7.0 Good
Pros: Hostel was fair, last minute booking so we didn't expect much. The location is wonderful, and the price was not too bad for this central and touristy area.
Cons: The building was old, and as a hostel didn't really have an atmosphere of community like I've seen elsewhere.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Right next to Dogo Onsen.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Great location
Cons: Very small rooms, only a few showers for the entire hostel, not that clean, but run down.
