Pros: As always breakfast was great. Buffet breakfast is best but we were there in late November so we had table service. But still excellent.
Cons: Didn't like the £10 a day parking fee.......... never had to pay hotel parking fees in my life. Been using the Big Blue for decades now. Also, probably due to the late time of year and hotel was practically empty, there was no hot water on Monday or Tuesday mornings.

Pros: The helpful staff.
Cons: A tired old lady. Why is reception on the first floor? A coded security door prevents you entering the hotel, luckily a member of staff was leaving and let us in. The car park barrier is useless, the intercom to reception is poor and crackly. Keep pressing the call button and they will give up and let you in.

Pros: The location is great
Cons: We have previously stayed in a premier twin, however the room we had this time was nothing compared to before - it was quite disappointing

Pros: Staff friendly on arrival. Smooth check in. Food very reasonable and worth the money. Lovely bar area to relax although we were asked to leave at 9pm as it was closing so either you sat in a small lounge area which had no seats left or back to your room, unless you wish to listen to the artist in function room which wasn’t for me.
Cons: Room was very disappointing. The smallest room ever for a double. Sink in the room as bathroom so small you have to sit on toilet facing the bedroom, if you have long legs you have had it as the door won’t shut, not enough room. Was not clean at all skirting boards black dust all to sides of carpet. Bedside table seen better days chipped and very worn. Lamp hanging on by its teeth, didn’t work anyway, wallpaper coming off the wall. As far as getting a good night sleep it’s a no go the room temperature is so hot it’s uncomfortable if you wish to open window you have to climb on chair or windowsill to reach and it’s facing the main road so very very noisy all night you hear every clunk from every plumbing pipe (continuously). After first night I spoke with reception about the clunking all night and room temperature they were more than happy to help but in return later to room that’s all they did was open window so nothing resolved another awful nights sleep and awoke to roadworks at 7.30am outside hotel. Avoid room 314 it’s awful and I got o d don’t think I would return to this hotel. It’s appearance downstairs looks grand but the rooms do not they are more a 1 star rating and definitely not worth what they charge

Pros: the hotel was convenient for the venue we were using (Viva) and was extremely clean, the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Cons: WE WERE FREEZING!!! The heating system is clearly needing overhauled as our room was like a freezer as was our friends. Everyone who stayed complained the heating was rubbish - staff issued us with room heaters which helped a little way. We're reliably informed the band we were coming to see were also staying there - but moved to a Premier Inn when they realised how cold it was. Change your heating system and we'll return!!

Pros: Staff made us feel exceptionally welcome and cared for. Especially Jakub and Sarah made our stay a pleasure. Room was clean and well heated, beds very comfortable. There was enough space in the room for three of us to prepare for dance competition, there was a rail with hangers for our costumes and a big mirror too. We also were lucky to have parking space at the hotel premises (first come first served). Minimal distance to Winter Gardens made it a perfect location to stay for a dance competition.

Pros: Location is excellent!! Staff were lovely!! Very much value for money. When you pay £20 just to be able to have a bed for the night and end up with a B&B with a bar, pool, darts, table football. Rooms were pokey and it does need a facelift but we expected that so overall worth the stay and would go back.

Pros: No one ever answers the phone I rang over 20 times over 5 weeks no one ever answers. Mix up over rooms instead of 4 beds in 1 room had to take 2 rooms with double beds. Heating didn't work .lift was ridiculously small and unless some ran up to the floor the lift was at and released the catch at the top that was sticking then you couldn't use the lift. Only good thing about it was the friendliest of the staff . I've never ever k own a hotel where no one e at answers the phone it's shocking. Wo t be staying and I as you e no chance of speaking to the hotel staff about anything.my advice to them is answer the phone !!!!

Pros: The breakfast and the sea view and the location and the car park
Cons: Room very small sofas downstairs tatty walls in room paper thin
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Location
Cons: Mold everywhere, Dirty pots left out on the corridor. Underwear and adult toys outside the window. They still have smoke rooms and we were put in there even though we asked for not smoke rooms. I went home at 4am as I woke up physically sick due to the mold and disgusting rooms. I asked for compensation as I paid for breakfast but obviously did not have it. They said it was booking.com fault so I rang booking.com then they said it was the metropole fault. I didnt get anywhere so I put in a formal complaint! And the metropole hotel are not answering or responding!!! I have gone to the financial ombudsman.... They will have to answer them. Dont trust the pictures on their website, its false advertisement of their rooms.
5.0 Okay
Pros:
Cons: Being pregnant and having a small family and being placed on a corridor where smoking in the rooms was permitted, the whole corridor smelt of fags and was lingering in the furniture bedding etc
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The only good thing going for this hotel is the location, the Staff, and the character of the building
Cons: How any one could allow such a wonderful structure fall into such a sad state is truly beyond me, but this is typical of the Britania Group, who quite frankly should be ashamed of themselves
4.0 Okay
Pros: It was close to all amenities
Cons: We had to pay extra and change rooms because our room was very poor. The replacement was below average but we put up with it
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Character of building. Friendly/ helpfully staff
Cons: Bed a bit hard
5.0 Okay
Pros: The room was acceptable
Cons: Very noisy till early hours due to facing main road. Reception staff have attitude
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel has lots of period charm and character, shame it feels a bit neglected and in need of repair in some areas. Our kids liked it nevertheless, they felt like in a palace, their own words
Cons: First we got a room, that was smelling of cigarettes quite strongly, but that’s the fault of some disrespectful customer smoking in non-smoking room, however the hotel staff could notice perhaps before giving the room to the next customer. However, when we came back to reception, they listened and gave us another room without a problem. The room was roomy and beds comfortable enough, just the pillows were too high and hard, so bring your own pillows if you like them a bit lower and soft. The period decor clashes a bit with some newer tacky additions and I really disliked the gambling machines in the main lobby, which gave the period space feeling of a cheap pub.

Cons: Firstly greeted by a very rude man who tried to charge me again when I got there, had silly excuse computer wasn’t at hand, I had to argue the fact ! Then when I had problem with lock on door he dismissed it, room was absolutely disgustingly filthy as seen in pics.. no chest of draws or wardrobe or no tv or kettle, the windows was broken and didn’t close and radiator was hanging off wall, bed wasn’t fit enough for a dog tbh ! When I returned after a night out I pulled back quilt and sheets hadn’t been cleaned and was bed bugs as seen in photos. Toilet had broken window so they replaced it with plasterboard.. I couldn’t stay there and had to stay awake and get train at 5.20am to return home “AVOID”

5.4 Okay
Pros: The staff were friendly, the location was decent as it was close to town and shops.
Cons: A lot. We came into the room, was alright, the bed sheet under the covers had loads of brown stains... which we didn’t want to think about what caused it. There were stains all over the walls as if gravy had been thrown around. The taps for the sink didn’t work at all. No hot water, it was freezing. The bed was clearly broken too, and the cover also had a hardened mark. The bed sheets had clearly not been washed from the previous stay! The corners of the room were filled with damp and mould and cobwebs. Everywhere you looked..... luckily me and my partner (who both have asthma and found it very difficult to breathe) were only there one night and we only used the room for when we had to sleep. Would not recommend. It needs some serious work! It was cheap, but those conditions weren’t expected at all.
