Pros: Great location. Modern hotel in a beautifully restored building (actually three connecting buildings) with several good restaurants and a fabulous bar. Rooms are well-designed and the breakfast buffet is abundant and varied. The waiter at the very good restaurant downstairs went the extra mile and came and got us at the third floor bar when our table was ready. After our meal he recommended another good restaurant nearby.

Cons: We stopped at their restaurant bar (BARE) for a cocktail and were not impressed with their attentiveness. We were served a drink on a chipped glass and both our drinks were served without their customary garnishes (lemon/olive).

Cons: Staff not all but still. Not freindly and customer oriented. The man, who made check in for us said, the " the beds in Sandinavic countries is more narrow because " Scandic people are slimer and taller then other" . That sounded even not polite. No shoe horn in the room. No tee facilities.

I made a mistake with my on-line booking and the receptionist made every effort to help me out and solve the problem.
There were free bicycles to use so you could cycle around town.

Cons: When I booked, I was charged an extra separate charge of £167 with no explanation. In the end I asked about it, and it was refunded. I found a few hairs here and there when we arrived, and the toilet wasn't cleaned on the second day of our stay. Although one English Breakfast tea bag was supplied, there were 2 adults who wanted tea, and there was no milk or sugar to go with it. Also the tea bags were never replenished for the entire week, and dirty cups were not removed, washed or replaced. I had to wash the tea cups myself in the bathroom! Also many of the cups don't have handles. If you've ever had to drink a boiling hot drink from a non-insulated cup with no handle, you can appreciate how difficult this is. Finally my Dad's room had no shower gel in the dispenser. Even when he asked for it to be re-filled, it wasn't, and he had to go and collect a bottle of shower gel from reception and refill it himself! It was just simple things, but would have made a big difference. Main issues seemed to be the staff who were cleaning the rooms having no attention to detail. For the price, it should have been better.

Cons: Garage very small for the size of hotel. And very expensive. Unpoliteness of staff, specially of the manager. No place to unload the lugage when checking in and out. During the 10 min it took me to make the check in, I recieved a parking ticket. Restaurant small, always very crowded, and bad quality food. Those are the reasons for us to leave the hotel after two nights stay, rather than the three nights previously booked. And, last but not the least, the hotel charged me for 25% of a daily rate for the last day which we did not use.

There was somebody’s dirty plastic food container on the table, glass and towel in the bathroom looked wet as if someone just used it. Hair on the sink, toilet paper in the toilet bowl. I went to reception twice to ask for a clean glass and a towel, they promised to “send someone immediately”, but in four days of my stay I never got it. Sad! What is even more sad, that the second time I asked for a clean glass and towel they promised to “send someone immediately”, but DIDN’T ask what room number I was staying in - meaning that they never even intended to send anyone.

Cons: The room itself is clean but the windows are really neglected:, they are covered with thick layer of dust from inside, also dirty from outside. There is no air-conditioning in the room and only small part of the window can be opened. There is a fan in the room, but it's small. It was +26 when we stayed and it was really stuffy in the room during the day. At night it was much better. We closed the curtains when going out,but the cleaning lady opened them every time. I think it would be nice to tell the staff to keep curtains closed in sunny days.

Also, extremely convenient location for pretty much any trip around Bergen (including the mountains or fjords), unbeatable price. The room was rather small but fairly clean, quiet and comfortable. The lobby area and the dining room were surprisingly nice. There were some issues (mentioned below) but the staff managed to resolve them promptly and with a smile. Overall, I would certainly recommend - especially if you're looking for exceptionally good value without sacrificing much comfort.

The breakfast at the hotel was very good and spread was very large compared to anyother European hotel. The hotel is also very close to the city, literally you are in city in 5 minutes of walk.

Pros: Excellent and quite varied breakfast, the stay was almost worth the price for the breakfast alone. Also, extremely convenient location for pretty much any trip around Bergen (including the mountains or fjords), unbeatable price. The room was rather small but fairly clean, quiet and comfortable. The lobby area and the dining room were surprisingly nice. There were some issues (mentioned below) but the staff managed to resolve them promptly and with a smile. Overall, I would certainly recommend - especially if you're looking for exceptionally good value without sacrificing much comfort.
Cons: The radiator didn't work - upon mentioning that to the receptionist, we've received an electric heater that made the room much comfier. The ventilation system kept on humming strangely and couldn't be turned off - again, after a chat with the receptionist, we were offered a change of rooms, free of charge, arranged for the very next day - we've actually gotten used to that and did not take up on this offer (nevertheless, it was nice to know that it was there). The access cards to our room stopped working twice, apparently caused by some internal change in two parallel guest systems - both times we've received an apology and it was solved within a minute. The last issue was the hotel lobby bar - although generally pleasant, two nights in a row we've wanted to have a glass of wine and were met with either an absence of the bartender or him being somehow too busy (and apparently angry) with his cashier software to reply (or even notice us). Other members of staff were truly professional, though.

Cons: Everything there didn't meet my expectations: *The room wasn't well heated, so it was too cold inside! *The shower's area in the bathroom didn't have any borders to help avoid getting all the toilet floor wet! They even didn't put an extra towel to solve this issue! *The breakfast was just catastrophic: it was composed of a small sandwich and a small bottle of low quality lemon juice! No coffee, no tea...unless you pay extra!

Cons: I arrived early, when I asked to let my luggage at their luggage storage room (as mentioned on the booking website among their facilities), the reception lady said: you can leave the luggage here under the reception desk and at your own risk!! Staff were not friendly enough, the breakfast was just a sandwich and a bottle of juice, but they pictured it already on the booking website, so don't get surprised. My room was at 4th floor, lift reaches only 3rd floor, so I had to carry my bag up one floor.

Cons: There were drunks fighting in the street outside the window in which I was staying. When I asked the hotel manager that I would be happy to be paid for the night stayed, but would like to cancel my reservation for the upcoming two nights (with full refund as I paid in full in advance) she said I was stupid. The safety concerns were problem enough, but when treated so rudely and poorly by the manager of the hotel it was clear to me that this hotel will not be staying in business given its current management problems.
