Top tips for finding perfect Athens hotel deals

  • If you’re looking for a cheap hotel in Athens, you should consider visiting during the low season. You'll find cheaper accommodations in Athens in January and December.
  • Hotel room prices vary depending on many factors but you’ll most likely find the best hotel deals in Athens if you stay on a Saturday. The opposite is true for, Thursday, which is usually the most expensive day.
  • Book at least 90 days before your stay begins to get the best price for your Athens accommodation.
  • How long should you stay? KAYAK users usually book their accommodation in Athens for 3 days.
  • Students or other visitors who want to be near the restaurants and nightlife should look for a hotel in the downtown area, just north of Broad Street. Graduate Athens is a great hotel for a hip clientele.
  • If you’re in Athens on business or work travel, you might want to stick to quieter areas, farther away from the university campus and popular college spots. Courtyard by Marriott Athens Downtown has a business center as well as a large workstation in the room.
  • Bear Hollow Zoo may be your top destination in Athens while traveling with children. The State Botanical Garden of Georgia and Oconee Forest Park are also near the zoo. If this is your case, look into hotels in the south of the city closer to Woodland Hills, like The University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel. It’s about an 8-minute drive away from the activities.
  • For golfers traveling to Athens, you’ll be happy to hear there are a few golf courses around the city. For example, Spring Hills Suites by Marriott Athens West is a great choice for Jennings Mill Country Club, just an 8-minute drive away from the course.
  • If you plan to visit the museum and see what else the University has to offer, like the Georgia Museum of Natural History, stay at The University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel to be within walking distance of the campus.
  • If you’re a theater buff visiting Athens, you will most likely be hanging out around the theater and arts district. The SpringHill Suites by Marriott Athens Downtown/University Area is only two blocks away.

Very well kept hotel and quite clean. Excellent value for the cost. Minimal lobby and the breakfast offered is sparse. Given what is saved compared to more expensive hotels, not a concern. Staff was very nice and attentive.

You can tell this is a new facility… And in that aspect it was clean and tidy… Unfortunately, there are several things lacking in the design… The room is too minimalistic. It had 4 inches of hanging space for dresses and suits and shirts etc.… Basically a peg sticking off of the wall was the only place to hang anything in the room. there were no towel bars in the bathroom. The sign said to hang your towel up if you wanted to reuse it or leave it on the floor if you wanted it replaced… Besides the doorhandle, there was no place to hang the towel.
